Speaker 1 (00:02):
News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now, I'm
Doug prisoner. Iran is facing its most perilous moment in decades.
After the US and Israel attack Iran's nuclear facilities last night,
President Trump authorized a massive air strike, even though he
previously hinted at a delay. The mission was dubbed Operation
Midnight Hammer. It used B two stealth bombers, Tomahawk missiles,

(00:25):
and over seventy precision guided weapons in a coordinated attack. Meantime,
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the US is
ready to negotiate after this bombing. Rubio spoke to CBS
Face the Nation.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
This mission was a very precise mission. It had three objectives,
three nuclear sites. It was not attack on Iran. It
was not an attack on the Iranian people. This wasn't
a regime change move. This was designed to degrade and
or destroy three nuclear sites.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
That is US Secretary of State Marco Rubio speaking to
CBS Face the Nation. He went on to warn Iran
that closing the Strait of Hormuz would be a su

risk in the market right now. Traders are sort of
holding their breath waiting to see if Israel Iran expand
this conflict beyond military and political targets into traded energy.
So far, no one's pulled that trigger yet, and if

(01:39):

Speaker 1 (01:41):
That is Bob McNally. He's the president and founder of
Rapidan Energy Group. Meantime, the United Nations Security Council met
today at the request of Tehran. Here is Israel's ambassador
to the UN, Danny Dennon.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Months ago, I said before the Council and called for
a coalition of the courageous. I called for a coalition
with the mora, clarity and strengths to confront the greatest
threat our war dos seen since the Second World War.
Last night, the leader of the free world acted with
that courage. The United States acted not just for itself

(02:19):
but for every dation that values freedom over radicalism.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
That was Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Dennon. Meantime,
in Washington, we're getting plenty of reaction. Here is California
Republican Congressman darryl Isis speaking earlier to Bloomberg's balance of power.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
The President has made it clear he's holding out an
olive branch every day, including today, but he's also made
it clear he will not tolerate the continued behavior that
has caused so many American lives. All the way back
to the early nineteen eighties when the Iranian regime was young.
They have been killing America.

Speaker 1 (02:53):

top of what's a busy economic calendar. In the week ahead.
Among the reports, investors will get a look at SMP

(03:29):
Global Manufacturing and Services PMI, Existing Home Sales, consumer Confidence,
US Goods Trade Revised GDP, Personal Income, and the PCEE
Price Index, to name a few. Karen Moscow Bloomberg Radio.
