News when you wanted with Bloomberg News Now, I'm Amy Morris.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelinsky says his country is facing one
of the toughest periods in its history. He says he
cannot accept parts of a twenty eight point piece plan
that the US has been working on with Russia, and
Ukraine's biggest European allies have also rejected key elements of
the plan. The US has threatened to stop intelligence sharing

(00:23):
and weapons supplies to Ukraine unless Kiev agrees to the
plan by Thursday. Former National Security advisor and director of
the Harford Belfair Center Megan O'Sullivan, I, personally.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
And diplomacy am a big believer in putting hardcore ideas
on the table as a starting point. But expecting that
it could be resolved and that these issues could be
negotiated by Thursday seems inconceivable to me.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
You can hear more from former National security advisor Megan
O'Sullivan on the Balance of Power podcast. The deal requires
Ukraine to hold elections and give up any hope of
NATO Membershipsident Trump tells Fox News Radio Russian sanctions will
remain in place during the talks.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yeah, it makes it very hard to sell oil.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
That's a big thing.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
That's you know, the whole their whole economy is based.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
But no, I'm not doing anything having to do with
taken veccage. President Trump spoke on Fox Radio's Brian Kilmead's show.
Russia says it has the plan now and is ready
for talks, but Russia President Vladimir Putin says they're also
ready to keep fighting if they can't come to an
agreement with Ukraine. US officials are having early discussions on
whether to let Nvidia sell its H two hundred artificial

(01:32):
intelligence chips to China. No final decision has been made,
and it is possible that the idea remains an internal
debate and never results in actual license approvals. President Trump
hosts New York mayor elect Zoronmumdani at the White House today.
They're expected to discuss public safety, economic security, and housing affordability.
During the mayoral campaign, President Trump threatened to cut federal

(01:54):
funding to New York if Mamdani won. Consumers are more
than ever worried about their jobs and the economy. The
University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment gauge of current conditions is
at its lowest level on record, and feelings about personal
finances are at a sixteen year low. Joann Schue is
Michigan's director of Consumer Surveys.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
One thing that would could be a major wildcard is
if tariff policies were rolled back.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
One of the things that continues to worry consumers.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
We have over half of consumers spontaneously citing telling giving
US comments about tariffs.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Joanne Schue with the University of Michigan, appeared on Bloomberg Television.
More ecodata delays left over from the longest government shutdown
in US history. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says there
will be no October CPI report. It will release November
CPI data on December eighteenth, And we told you earlier
this week BLS won't publish an October employment report. The

(02:48):
November employment report is going to be released December sixteenth.
Both of those November reports will be after the Fed meets,
and stocks are staging a comeback at the end of
a jittery week. We check markets for you all day
long here at Bloomberg. The S and P five hundred
up one percent, NASDAC up nine tenths seven percent. The
Dow up one point three percent, the tenure treasury yield

(03:09):

three point five to two percent. Bitcoin now on track
for its worst monthly performance since twenty twenty two, after
shedding about a quarter of its value in November. Mike
mcgloan is a senior commodity strategist here at Bloomberg.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
The key thing it might be telling us is there's
a potential the stock market can follow Bitcoin's path into
the year end. And this Bitcoin situation has happened in
an environment where gold is beating everything it's up fifty
five percent, and the world's most significant industrial commodity, Crudell
is collapsing. It's down twenty percent. I mean, that's a
global recessionary trajectory.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
A gauge of crypto investor sentiment is currently indicating extreme
fear among traders, with institutions appearing reluctant to buy into
the weakness. Bitcoin now down more than three percent, hovering
around eighty four thousand. Earlier this month had looked like
a FED rate cut in December was nearly a sure thing,
but since then the odds have shifted as more FOMC

(04:04):
members are talking about persistent inflationary pressures. Boston FED President
Susan Collins tells Bloomberg's Odd Lots she needs more data.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I were seeing evidence that the labor market were notably deteriorating.
I would take that very seriously, and that certainly could
justify you know, near term additional eating here.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
More from Boston FED President Susan Collins on the Bloomberg
Odlots podcast. Beg Governor Stephen Myron tells Bloomberg News that
economic data since the last FOMC meeting should, in his words,
push one in the Duvish direction.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
There hasn't been anything in the data in the news,
in media stories, in private sector data, alternative data that's
available to us that would make us think that the
forecast has somehow nullified and there's been a big shock
to it. So, if anything, all the information that we've
gotten the interim since September FMC has inclined to the
duvis side.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Here.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
More from Ved Governor Stephen Myron on the Bloomberg Surveillance podcast.
Dallas FED President Lorie Logan says it would be appropriate
to hold rate steady at the December meeting, which she
says would allow the FOMC to assess the degree of
restriction from the current policy. She spoke at an event
in Zurich, and FED Vice Chair Philip Jefferson says he
sees clear differences between the rise of AI and the

(05:17):
dot com boom of the late nineties, telling the Cleveland
FED that the dot com firms in the nineties had
little to no earnings and speculative prospects, but today's AI
tech firms are well established, and New York FED President
John william says he sees room for another cut.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
I still see room for a further adjustment in the
near term to the target range for the Federal findes
rate to move the hands of policy closer to the
range of neutral.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
New York FED President John Williams speaking in Santiago, Chile.
That's the news when you want it. With Bloomberg News now.
