Speaker 1 (00:00):
Coming up on this edition of Celtics Weekly, the Knicks
are coming to town and we preview Round two. We
look at Jason Patum's incredible production post injury, and we
go court size with the voice of the Celtics Sean Brandy.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
All that and more Now.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
And Weekly, we continue in our playoffs Era and the
Celtics survive and advance a very physical series against the
(00:40):
Orlando Magic. Credit to the Orlando Magics, but also we
have to give credit to Drew Holiday because we're starting
yet another episode of Celtics where we're given out awards.
Well the n b A is Drew Holiday for the
second time, wins the Joe Dumar Sportsmanship Award, obviously extremely
worthy of that honor.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yes, Sportsmanship Teammate of the Year, Like this guy could
win either of those awards every single year and I'm
glad that he got one of them this year.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
If you're just tuning in for the first time, Megan
on Olinia, Mark Demiko, and if you want to be
part of the show, be sure to like and subscribe
to the Celtics.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
YouTube channel and comment below.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Because you're here part of the show here weekly as well.
But we have to look ahead because the Nixon Pistons
just wrapped up another very physical and exciting series in
round one. Let's get into our series preview of what
we're expecting from the Celtics against the Knicks. This is
a team that the Celtics firmly beats all four times. Now,
(01:37):
one of those did go to overtime, but four times
that they saw them, they had pretty commanding presence over
the Knicks.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
And the regular scene.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yeah, but I would say that you could see Jalen
Brunston sealing the series last night with this huge shot.
I mean he almost dropped Sark Thompson onto the ground.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
What a move and shot.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
This is what the Celtics are going to be dealing
with throughout the series.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
But I am.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
One of the person who doesn't exactly prescribe to the
fact that, oh, the Celtics won all these games by
this many points.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
You go back and look at them.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
All of these games, except for the first one on
opening night, were all three points or less with six
or less six minutes or less left in the third quarter.
So they were close during the second half, and then
the Celtics just pulled away. Except for that final game
that required overtime. But these games were closer than I
think a lot of people remember, and I think that
the series is going to be much more competitive than
(02:27):
a lot of people think. So that's the first thing
that I would say is that, like, don't think that
because of the scores of the regular season, that doesn't
mean Boston's just going to run away.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
With this series. New York is really good.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
That team was built to compete with the Celtics in
terms of getting Ogan Anobi, in terms of getting mcyle bridges,
Like this team was built to compete with Boston.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
I gotta say one thing that I'm really looking forward
to in this matchup between New York and Boston is
just an explosion of offensive basketball. I love the physicality
of the series that Boston just went through, but I
am missing some of the He's like one hundred and
twenty five point games on both sides. Like I want
to see a little bit of a shootout between these
two teams. And it's very interesting Mark that you bring
(03:08):
up those final six minutes of the game, because when
you look at New York's success and we just saw
the highlight from Jalen Brunson from that game last night,
I mean he's mister clutch.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Is he won the award this year, right, It's like
the most clutch player in the NBA. So the Celtics
are gonna have to deal with that. But talking about
the scoring that you just brought up, the Celtics their
true shooting percentage against New York this season was sixty
four point four percent. That was their highest against any
team in the league that they played more than two times.
So Boston's while New York's defense was kind of built
(03:41):
with the players in terms of having big, long defenders
with Anronobe and with mcal Bridges, the Celtics still found
a way to score. Kind of I will and you
see some of the highlights from the regular season here,
what a huge shot by Jason Tatum to sended to overtime.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
But yet Boston.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Sixty four point four percent true shooting percentage against New
York this regular season, that is pretty impressive.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Love that.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Also, we're gonna see a lot more of the three
points shooting that we're used to, hopefully from this team.
They average four up forty eight attempts during those four
games in the regular season. Of course, that would be
a big jump from the just over thirty one attempts
that we saw against Orlando because of their perimeter defense.
But you've heard enough from us, Let's hear from Derek White,
because he spoke earlier today about some of the challenges
(04:25):
that he's anticipating going up against Jalen Brunson and the
rest of these Knicks.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
I mean, that's when the money's made, right there, a
lot of difficult reads, difficult difficult decisions, but then just
trying to just maintain the discipline to not foul or
to to box out those little things like that, a
difference between getting the stop or them getting a big bucket.
So that and then offensively, just just being disciplined in
(04:52):
your in your spacing, just meaning that that right spot
and then when it's your opportunity, just step up and
make a play. So a lot goes into it, but
you really got to focus on those little details, even
in those big moments.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Meg I had to asked Derek about playing in the
clutch because the Knicks, they won most of their games
in the first round by making clutch plays. Cat made
big shots. Jalen Brunson made the big shot. I think
a lot of people out there think that the series
is just going to be a blowout because the Celtics swept.
Many of those games were big wins, big margins of victory.
But I have a feeling that a lot of these
(05:26):
games are going to come down to the way.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
We heard from Joe Mizzoula today as well, and he
talked about how all of these series, when you're in
the playoffs, it's a clean slate from the regular season,
and every series really does take on its very own characteristics,
as we just saw with Round one.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
That doesn't mean that we can't.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Look back at what we saw in the regular season
and gleaned some experiences, especially when it comes to defending
the clutch player of the year in Jalen Brenson. So
why don't you show us a little bit of what
you dug up from this year.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, Listen, before we start out with looking at the clips,
the first thing I gotta say is Jalen Brunson and
my mind is the closest thing to Isaiah Thomas primetime
Isaiah Thomas in Boston since Isaiah Thomas, and meaning that
he is smart. He knows how to draw fouls, he
knows how to keep opponents on their heels despite the
fact that he's not this big, long, athletic, quick guy.
So this first play is all about discipline, right. The
(06:18):
Celtics have to know that they're playing with discipline against him,
don't get handsy, and we can watch here what Drew
Holliday does against him, and we can slow it down here,
but you can see he's trailing from behind. He knows
if we stop it ray Here Jalen Brunson is taking
that shot because he feels Drew Holliday behind him and
he thinks that if he pulls up, he's going to
create contact onto his back with Drew.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Holliday bumping into him.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Drew has the discipline to keep enough distance between the
two players for him to not commit that foul, and
as you see here, in a moment Jalen misses the shot,
he kind of contorts his body to act like.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
He got fouled.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
But Drew Holliday is smart enough again to know he's
going to try to do that, and the Celtics have
to avoid allowing him to do that. So we can
go into the second play here. This one is against
Christas Porzingis, who gets switched on to him, so you'll
be able to see what a big man does against him.
And when I talk about discipline, that means.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Don't play with your hands.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
If we could freeze it, don't play with your hands,
don't close in too quickly to him. And you can
see what Porzingis does on this play, hands straight up
in the air. You think he wasn't taught that before
the game by his coaches.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Put your hands straight up. That's exactly what he does here.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
He does not make contact, he can test the shot.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
And he forces a miss.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
So again discipline in hands up. You don't want to
reach in on Jalen Brunton because if.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
You do, he will draw the foul.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Last one here that we can go into another play
with Drew Holliday, very similar to the first one. Jalen
takes the ball off the dribble.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Pause it. Here you can see Drew.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Howiday is going to keep a little bit of space
between him and Jalen brunts and again Jalen's trying to
create contact, potentially go up for a shot, get.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
An in one. Drew Holliday does not allow it.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
And by the way, this is important to Luke Cornett
pulling over for a little bit of help. There so
these two combine, they don't make too much contact, and
that leads to Jalen Brunston saying, I gotta pass the ball,
and instead of passing to his teammates, he passes it
to the Knicks. So it's all about discipline and knowing
that you can't get too close to him. You can't
get too close within his space or else. He's so
(08:19):
smart and crafty. Like Isaiah Thomas was here, he's going
to draw the foul mark.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
That was such an excellent job illustrating that. I know
people have their own personal opinions about Jalen Brunson and
how he finds those opportunities to get to the line,
but the truth is it just does become a strategy game.
He is an incredibly smart player. So you need guys
who are smart on defense. Sick of hearing about how
defense in the NBA is all about effort. When you
see guys like Drew Holliday and the adjustments that the
(08:46):
coaching staff is giving to a big man out on
the perimeter like Christaps Porzingis, you got to give those guys.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
And it's all about the details.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Joe Mazoula talked about that today It's all about the details.
We got to control what we can control. That's what
they did in the last round, Orlando. That's what the
Celtics must do in this round if they want to advance.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Ooh, but Mark, seeing these cliffs giving me a hankering
for some top plays. As Mark and I move back
across this set, we are not ready to.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Move on from Orlando.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Let's look at our plays of the week from all
five games in this series. Starting with number ten, you
get Jalen Brown pick it off, Franz Wagner taking a
coast to coast here and finishing with beautifully down there.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
There is nothing you can love more than the superstars
on your team, not only setting the tone on offense,
but making plays like this. Jalen Brown jumps the passing lane,
picks it off, takes it the lengths of the court
for the slam.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
You'll love to see it.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Number nine Paint Prichard. We talked so much about his
three point shooting, but look at him here when the
Classics step through finish.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
This was my favorite play from the entire first round.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Just like Cole Anthony taking you to school, trying to
teach you a lesson Number eight.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
We got another JV highlight here, just finishing sacrificing his body. Okay,
with his acrobatic finished.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
And taking off from two feet. You'll love to see that.
He usually finishes it when he takes off from two feet.
Not many players players in the league can do it
like him.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Let's go on to number seven. Are you ready for
Sam Hauser defensive play Here he comes up with the
block from behind. Al Horford becomes the connector here and
he finds Fast Peaky in the corner.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Anytime a play starts with Fast or with Sam Hauser
blocking a shot, you know what's gonna wind up on
the players of the week. Sam Hauser one of the
most underrated defenders in the UNA.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Really, he's improved so much, and Payne Pritchard as well.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
But you see him on the.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Offensive end, He's not going to miss that one sixteen
point game.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
After this number.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Six, you want more Jaylen Brown. Here he is trying
to create some space against the big gy Pollo and
he gets a beautiful rainbow shot right there.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Rainbow shot is right.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
I thought that thing was going to touch the upper
deck up in the balcony section. But yeah, anytime Jaylen
Brown gets into the mid range. He just feels so
comfortable and you can see it right there, drained it
over pollow.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Number five had an incredible series and here he is
with the swat. Just no, absolutely not get that out here.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
I laughed when I watched this live because I was like,
he could have just caught this, Like, why.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Did he swat?
Speaker 1 (11:12):
I'm angry, He's an angry man there. Number four is
another Jalen Brown steal off Orlando taking it back for
a dunk this time.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yes, this was a big dunk Game two at home,
and you know you're sending the TD Garden fans into
a frenzy.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
After sea rango there, head coach to the paper.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
You know he loves defense, right showing it off.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Number three, you get Al Forford kicking it for an
alley oop to Christop's poorsing, Gus.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Big to big passing for an alley. You don't get
to see this very often, so you gotta love it
when Al Horford sets up Christops porzing.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Okay, something else we don't see that often, Drew Holiday
dunk number two.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Here he goes in for it. You only seems twice
a year.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
This year we have literally barely seen it since he
came to Boston, but this one not only did he
dunk it.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
But he hung out the rig. You could see the
bench reacting after that play.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
That is the type of play that sets up a
win for Boston.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
What a great play from too High.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
All right, Our top play of the week comes from
superstar Jason Tatum just taking it in for beautiful slam
to end the first half.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Yep, that was the moment when you started to feel like.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Okay, things are looking at Boston's favor. A terrible first
half and they're only down two.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Here come the Celtics. That's what that's all about.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
All right, guys, we are going to be moving on
from the Orlando series, but not play yet. Let's just
hear a few takeaways about what the guys thought of
that very physical first round.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
You know, you just got to adjust this. It's hard
to win in the playoffs, hard to put a team away.
You know, the end goal is the end go. But
you gotta enjoy these moments, right, Winning a playoff game,
it is hard. Winning a playoff series is tough.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
You know, we took care of business.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
That's the first test, right, We passed the first tests,
make sure we know all the lessons.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
There a great job.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
The biggest thing is it's gonna go how it's gonna.
Speaker 7 (13:13):
Go, man Like, we can't have an expectation that chosen
certain first past and we we try to get home
run of the case.
Speaker 6 (13:19):
Ab second have to get played like we.
Speaker 7 (13:20):
Just but and that's how we have to do.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
We have to have that three.
Speaker 8 (13:24):
There's no expectations of how it feels.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
We stick to the details.
Speaker 8 (13:27):
We stick to being a topper team. We needed this
team to bring the touchness and physicality out of us
for the next year, so we got one.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
We love those inside access shots from the locker room,
and we love when it starts with Jason Tatum walking
down the hallway like it's Aaron Sorkin directing the West Wing.
Don't go anywhere, guys, because right after this very quick break,
we are going to be talking to announcer Sean Brandy
about the upcoming series Boston.
Speaker 8 (13:54):
It's time tonight we fight with action, with purpose, with heart.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
Back in a city g don't been on across the globe.
Let's say jist silly witted Winnie city now, so he
should be good and he's sign.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Of cold and keeps Then they saw the sod.
Speaker 8 (14:17):
Our mindset keeps us shocked, humility keeps us grounded. Embrace
the environment, bring the physicality one play and after another.
We compete. We won't back down. We don't break. We fight,
We fight, we fight.
Speaker 5 (14:33):
Damn the playoffs where legends are born, greatness is earned,
champions are made.
Speaker 8 (14:43):
Any more questions?
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Welcome back our foresight?
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yes, this weed the voice of the Boston Celtics. That,
of course is radio play by play announcer Sean Grant. Grandy,
if I can call you that, Thanks so much.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
For joining us today.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
I got this first question. I got to ask you
because we saw these three games from Jason Tatum to
come out of that risk injury where he averaged thirty
six points per game. Sean, do you feel like that's
flying under the radar a little bit or it's not
getting exactly the appreciation that maybe it should.
Speaker 7 (15:21):
I think it's pretty clear at this point, again, after
all these years, that Jason Tatum is going to be
one of the guys that doesn't really get fully appreciated
until his career is over. I don't think it's going
to happen in real time. I don't even know anymore
what it looks like in real time between the talk
shows and whatever.
Speaker 6 (15:35):
What does it really mean? And I think we're at
the point what does it matter anymore?
Speaker 7 (15:39):
When Jason Tatum has led the Celtics Stewart Championship, he
was probably the best player in the entire NBA in
the first round of the playoffs, if not for the
guy who's coming to play Aga against him and Jalen
Brunson in the first round. So at what point do
Celtic fans say, you know what, I don't care if Topeka,
Kansas appreciates Jason Tatum for being one of the best
players in the world.
Speaker 6 (15:58):
He's one of the best players in the world.
Speaker 7 (16:00):
Well, I'm a Celtic fan and he plays on our team,
So who cares what anybody else thinks.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
To Sean, We've seen a lot of people out there
think that this is going to be a blowout series
just because of what happened during the regular season. What's
your take on this, Like, how much can or should
we take from those four regular season games in anticipation
of this series opening up Monday.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
A lot of us who were involved who felt cheated
out of this last year when the Knicks lost the
seventh game to Indiana. We'd all been counting down to
finally having a Boston New York series that matters for
the first time in nineteen.
Speaker 6 (16:30):
Nineteen eighty four. These teams haven't been good at the
same time.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
It's amazing.
Speaker 7 (16:34):
Celtics were great in the eighties, Knicks were great in
the nineties. Celtics, it hasn't happened.
Speaker 6 (16:38):
But now that it's finally here, the reality is it's
been a difficult matchup and the Knicks need a lot
of things to happen.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
I'm curious for you as you talk about your craft
and preparing to call this series, how different is it,
Sean when you're looking at a series where we're expecting
games that go into well into the one hundreds from
both teams, compared to the Orlando series that you just
came out of that was very physical, that was lower
scoring games and maybe a little bit more attention on
(17:08):
fouls and calls like that. How is it different when
you're expecting maybe a little bit more offensive firepower.
Speaker 7 (17:14):
That was a very flowery way to describe five rock fights,
which is what we just saw, because that was ugly.
It was There was very way, not in a lot
of ways to spin that into anything pretty and obviously
it is completely different.
Speaker 6 (17:26):
I think if.
Speaker 7 (17:27):
Everything goes to the way Celtic fans wanted to go,
think it's going to go expected to go, and there's
a really good game from Oklahoma City waiting at the
end of the Rainbow and the Finals, we're going to
be talking a lot about the Orlando series and the
way the Magic defended them.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
The Knicks don't have that same personnel.
Speaker 7 (17:42):
And Knicks have had the great year they've had because
nine times out of ten they've been able to outgun
the teams offensively, but they've been playing because they are elite.
This is an elite team in elite The problem is
the Knicks exist in a universe where Boston, Cleveland and
OKC are far and away the three best teams in
the league. Bad year to be the fourth or fifth
(18:02):
best team in the NBA because of the disparity between
those two.
Speaker 6 (18:05):
I think Celtic fans don't want to hear this, but.
Speaker 7 (18:08):
The Knicks could just win a game in Boston one
of those first two in New York.
Speaker 6 (18:14):
If that happens, then you're going to see this go.
Speaker 7 (18:17):
To a frenzy level, from national interest, from New York interest.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
Let's face it, guys, this.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
Is going to be a two week ESPN steven Athon
and I'm here for every second of it because it's
going to be awesome.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
It's it's the spectacle that we deserve.
Speaker 7 (18:34):
And I think Celtic fans want to advance as quickly
as they can to the conference finals, and I get that.
But from a basketball standpoint, if this could be, you know,
there's the opportunity for this little spark to become a flame.
Speaker 8 (18:47):
It will not take much.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
And Brandy, we should expect there will be a lot
of conversation around Jason Tatum. And as you told us,
it just doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. We know how
good he is.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Yes, for sure.
Speaker 7 (19:00):
Talking heads, mark the talking heads, you guys that they've
already started calling Jalen Brunston the best nick ever.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
This is the kind of if you can't dive into it.
Speaker 7 (19:10):
If you if you sit here scolding people for getting
too excited and saying crazy, stupid things on TV. That's
what TV's for now, saying stupid, crazy things that are
going to pump up the series. So enjoy these moments.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Boston New York. You cannot go wrong with that. I'm
looking forward to this series. Can't wait to hear the call.
Shall we appreciate it?
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Coming on?
Speaker 6 (19:28):
You got it, guys, anytime.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Let's head back over to the big Board for Tailor
Made Stats with Taylor Snow of Celtics dot Com and Taylor,
it's your birthday, which is a huge deal, and we're
excited to have this segment with you.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
What happened with this with this forehead injury?
Speaker 9 (19:44):
Yeah, well, you know, Christap's had the unicorn horn injury
last week, and then with me, there were so many
great stats this week that my brain started bursting out.
My skull kind of like is down there, so I
had to bandage it up.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
It's terrible. It's terrible. Come on, let's get with the stats.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
That's horrifying.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
You should get that looked at well after the segment.
Speaker 9 (20:04):
All right, So you guys mentioned the top of the
show how Drew Holiday won the Sportsmanship Awards, So I'd
try to do some digging on a good sport stat
and found out that he hasn't committed a tech since
January third, twenty twenty two, so that was when he
was with the books I looked it up. In his
quote from that game, he apologized profusely, saying it was
(20:25):
very much out of character for him to do that.
So he's kind of like a Mike Conley type of player.
Hardly ever commits techs.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
He doesn't argue.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
He just looks like this all the time, right, Yeah,
and maybe a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
This if he makes a big crew.
Speaker 9 (20:38):
Speaking of Mike Conley, he and Drew are the only
two players to win multiple Teammate of the Awards and
multiple Sportsmanship Awards. Drew has won three Teammate of the
Awards and two Sportsmanship Awards. Three plus two equals one
really great guy.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Impressive, that's stuff, Matt, I do want to fly? What
else have you got?
Speaker 9 (20:57):
And Jason Tatum is on a historic free throw stretch.
Last three games, he became the first player in NBA
history to make to attempt at least ten free throws
and not miss a single one thirty seven straight free throws.
The crazy thing is he went over four from the
line in Game one hurt his wrist comes back. Hasn't
missed since.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Think of all of.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
The superstars who have attempted ten plus free throws in
three seried games ever in the history of the league.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
He's the only guy to do this.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
It's truly an incredible numbers in the.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
These reminds me a little bit of Bob Kusey at
the free throw line in Bullion Ships.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Okay, what else have we got?
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Daylings?
Speaker 9 (21:34):
And this is a regular season SAT, but it does
tie into this series.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
I'll mention why in a moment.
Speaker 9 (21:38):
Derek White, as we all know, he had a great
clutch shooting season, posted the third best clutch three point
percentage in NBA history, and this could come in and
play this series. Jalen Brentson made the most clutched field
goals this season. Carling Hey Towns was on this list
a few years ago. So a lot of clutch players
in this series, and Derek is certainly one of them.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Steve Nash is the only one who didn't play for
the Celtics or the Knicks on this list.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
That's sure about that.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
And d White was the only one in all capitol letters.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
All right, Taylor, we know that you have to go
get some serious medical attention. Happy birthday again, Thank you
for joining us.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Don't you want to show the pick of you standing next?
To I was hoping to do. Yeah, let's do it.
Can we fire that up? Oh there, just get in here,
let's get close.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Yes, screenshot that, folks, send it into Taylor online, just like.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
That movie Twist.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Oh all right, Taylor, thanks so much. Don't go anywhere,
because we have more basketball stats for you. We are
putting the player spotlight.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
I'm just.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Guys, I am personally so happy to be throwing the
player spotlight on Jason Tatum because we were all a
little nervous when he sat out his first playoff game
with the wrist injury. But who he's been since then
deserves a lot of attention.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Yeah, all the praise in the world.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
This guy has been playing like the biggest superstar in
the NBA, like MVP bona fide level basketball over the
last few games.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
You'll see a bunch of the highlights here.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
But look at all of this information here of what
he accomplished during the first round. And he missed a game,
so yeah, I think that risked his feeling just fine.
I think that the Celtics are enjoying what he's bringing
to the table. And the biggest question that comes to
my mind is is this the year that we see
Jason Tatum just have like a bonanza.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
During the postseason.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Is this gonna be the year where he just goes
nuclear throughout an entire playoff run. He's only averaged thirty
or more points per game in a playoff run once
that season ended in five games in the postseason, so
we've never seen him do it for a long period
of time.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
I'm wondering if this is the one.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Absolutely, And if you think about the stats that he
ripped off in these last three games against Orlando thirty
six points per game average and ten rebounds. Remember again
that these were not high scoring games. And we're used
to Tatum being somebody who is such a facilitator on
this team because there were so many different weapons around
when they read the five out. So for him to
(24:02):
be able to put up stats like that against Orlando,
think about what he's going to be able to do
in this next series against the Knicks. In Game five,
he shot sixty two percent overall and eighty percent from three.
I mean, how are you not excited about seeing this
version of Jason Tatum in Round two?
Speaker 2 (24:18):
How can you not expect that to continue? In Round two?
Speaker 3 (24:20):
He average thirty four to seven and seven during the
regular season against New York. So like everything is pointing
toward him having not only a great series, but really
having a great playoff run. It's just a matter of
how long does that run last for the Boston Sellers.
Let's hope at least another couple of rounds.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Absolutely, all right, well don't go anywhere, guys, because we
will be with you through this next round.
