Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome into episode one, one hundred and one of Bring
Heaven Down. My name is Tim and I'm the host
of this daily devotional podcast that shows up in your
feed Monday through Friday. And if you're listening, hit that
follow button wherever you're listening to this podcast. Recently we've
(00:21):
been diving into Philippians and we are currently in Philippians,
Chapter three, which we will pick up again tomorrow. But
I must react to the tragedy that occurred in Utah
yesterday to speaker Charlie Kirk at an event where it
(00:47):
was a question from the audience and answer format from
Charlie Kirk, which he often times does, and he was
assassinated from two hundred yards out. And it appears that
(01:07):
the person that committed this horrific crime has not been
captured yet. We pray that that would happen sometime soon.
And it's just a horrific situation where a political figure
(01:28):
was assassinated for expressing his opinion and Charlie was very
vocal about being a follower of Jesus Christ and proclaiming
(01:49):
him as King. Now, there are a lot of videos
of the situation, and if you proceed with watching one
of those videos, I would just be very careful because
these images don't just show up into your brain and
(02:14):
then leave. They kind of stick with you. And I
saw one from about seventy five yards away from a
distance away, and even seeing that was rough to watch.
And where I want to go with this is a
(02:36):
couple of different directions. The first is political, and what
I want to say about that is, this isn't some
left or right or middle issue. This is an issue
that should impact all sides of the coin. This isn't
(03:00):
a policy thing. This is a figure expressing his opinion
getting assassinated by someone who disagreed with his opinion. And
one of the things that I thought of after it
(03:24):
happened was how long are we going to go this
time until someone from the right or left starts criticizing
each other again and calls them a threat to democracy,
(03:45):
or calls them satanic, or calls them the next hitler,
or calls them someone evil. The truth is there are
messed up people, and some people will take comments by
a political figure left or right and take them seriously
(04:08):
and decide to take action. And I'm not sure if
that's the case in this scenario, but there are certainly
some people that have done that. And a simple question
is how long are we going to wait until the
(04:30):
next political figure calls his competitor something evil or a
threat to democracy, or whatever the case may be. Because
when Donald Trump was almost assassinated, you know, everyone goes
(04:51):
to their social media accounts and says, hey, this is
not right. My prayers and thoughts are with Donald Trump
and his family. And then a week goes by, two
weeks go by, and political figures are going back to
(05:14):
saying the same vile things about each other. And this
isn't some right issue, isn't some left issue. This is
both sides of this issue. They fire things back and forth.
I'm not taking a side. I think politics has become
one of the most disgusting things out there because it's
(05:40):
a competition to win a spot or a seat, or
whatever the case may be, and these politicians go to
the most extreme extent to make sure that their opponent
(06:00):
will not win, and it even goes to places like
calling them horrific names. And that just needs to stop.
And I don't know if it's ever going to because
of the power that these people want in their life,
and that power in and of itself is evil, and
(06:26):
that's why you get situations like this, and it's just
so sad because you think about Charlie and his wife.
Charlie was thirty one years old and he has two
young children, a daughter and a son. I personally have
(06:49):
two young children, so it's easy to kind of put
myself into the perspective of Charlie's wife and kids, what
they're going through, and the sadness and the frustration and
the anger and shock of the whole situation. I think
(07:12):
about his wife and the conversations that she now has
to have with her children about this situation, because when
it comes to children, it's not going to be okay,
when's dad coming home. It's going to be kind of constant.
(07:38):
Their children are going to ask their mom for a
long time, like when's dad coming home? Where's Dad? I
miss Dad. This isn't some situation where kids understand the
magnitude of what just happened and the consequences of it.
(08:00):
It's going to be an ongoing ordeal where Charlie's wife
and the mother of their kids are going to have
to go through this thing for the rest of their lives,
and the impact is just so devastating. And then there's
one last thing that I need to say about it.
(08:22):
Things are going to get worse before they get better.
As the world continues to go in the opposite direction
of God, things are only going to continue to get worse.
As people continue to push themselves further and further away
(08:45):
from the Gospel and God and the truth of God.
Things like this are only going to continue. And maybe
you've seen it, but social media has been filled with
people grieving for Charlie car but it's also been filled
with people celebrating his death. And that's where we're at.
(09:06):
That's where people are at in their relationship with Lord,
that they would celebrate something like this. It's horrifying, and
it's one of those things where at least we know
that Charlie proclaimed Jesus Christ as Lord, and that is
(09:30):
the good news we now know, despite the evil that
took place, despite the ramifications that are now taking place,
we know for certain that Charlie is with the Lord
(09:53):
because of his belief in Jesus. And that is the
good news of this situation, is that as horrifying as
the action was, we know that Charlie is a follower
of Jesus. And he has promised eternal life and he
(10:19):
will see his family again. Is heartbreaking, sad, devastating from
what happened to how the world's reacting to so many
different areas, But there's also a place of hope in
this situation too, knowing that Charlie was a believer in
(10:43):
Jesus Christ. Thank you for joining the show today and
I hope you can all have a day filled with
the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
