And thank you for choosing Jesus. Today we pick back
up in Philippians chapter three, and we're focusing in on
(00:23):
verses seventeen and eighteen and nineteen today and then we'll
pick up in verse twenty tomorrow. It says this, join
with others and following my example, this is the Apostle
Paul talking our writing. I should say, brothers, and take
note of those who live according to the pattern we
(00:46):
gave you. For as I have often told you before
and now say again, even with tears, many live as
enemies of the Cross of Christ. Their destiny is this instruction.
Their God is their stomach, and their glory is in
their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. Have there
(01:09):
ever been versus more applicable to the time that we're
living in than the verses that I just read. Let
me say it again, for as I have often told
you before and now say again, even with tears, and
I think that is important. I think that we should
(01:31):
look upon the worldly events happening around us daily, of assassinations,
of murder, of crime, of people completely turning against God's word.
I think we should look upon this stuff with tears,
(01:52):
with sadness, because people are literally walking towards destruction and
they think they aren't. They think they are walking in
the path of truth, when it is not so, he says,
and now say again, even with tears, many live as
(02:16):
enemies of the Cross of Christ. How true is that
when you look at what has happened in the United
States of America, and I'm sure outside of the United
States of America as well, and people not only disagree
(02:41):
with Jesus, which is wrong and is paving their own
path of destruction, but they also are murdering, are outspoken,
are protesting, are doing such stupid things that they are
(03:06):
the enemies of the Cross of Christ. Their identity, it
says in verse nineteen, is destruction. Their God is their stomach,
and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is
on earthly things. What we see in our culture today,
I think can be described very easily. And the way
(03:28):
that I would describe it is people that are unwilling
to submit and surrender to the God of the universe,
and did Jesus who died on the cross for our
sins and resurrected three days later. What they are doing
is they are creating a god in their own mind,
(03:50):
that is themselves, and they are submitting and surrendering to
whatever they think is true. And that's where our biggest
problem them lies. People don't want to submit, They don't
want to surrender to a higher power or a bigger
truth than themselves. They think that they are all that
(04:14):
and a bag of chips, and that's where our country
has gone wrong. Their God is their stomach, and their
glory is in their shame, and their destiny is destruction.
(04:34):
And I think that I fall short in this area,
not in the destruction, but in the area of tears,
because I look at what people are doing in this world,
and I so often have a frustration or a bitter
(05:00):
or what the heck are you doing, and not enough
sadness or emotional tears for the destruction that they are
creating and for the path and direction that they are
eventually going. Because this world does not last forever. We
(05:23):
are like a speck of dust. And while we're here,
we are to do our best to follow Jesus. And
as the Apostle Paul writes, is people are enemies of
the Cross and that's sad, and that's what he writes.
(05:44):
