Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome into episode what one hundred and six of Bring
Heaven Down. My name is Tim and I'm the host
of this daily devotional podcast that shows up in your
feed Monday through Friday. While you're here, hit that follow
button and if you're willing to rate and review the
show as well. Today we pick back up in Philippians

(00:24):
chapter four, as we continue in our Philippians series. This
is the last chapter in Philippians, so we'll be on
this one and then we'll wrap up Philippians. But this
one goes a little ways here, so we'll be on
this one for a few days. And there are some
really juicy points in Philippians chapter four that I'm really

(00:48):
excited to talk about. So let's pick up. In verse one,
it says, therefore, my brothers, and anytime you see therefore,
you gotta ask yourselves what is it there for? So
you actually got to go back into chapter three and
finish off those verses, and it's talking about how Jesus

(01:10):
will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be
like his glorious body. And therefore, my brothers, you whom
I love and long for my joy and crown, that
is how you should stand firm in the Lord. Dear friends,
we are two stand firm and the Lord knowing there

(01:32):
are greater promises ahead. And that's what the apostle Paul
is saying. All right, let's pick up in verse two.
I played with Udia and I played with Sink to
agree with each other in the Lord being transparent. I
have no idea how to say those two names. Yes,

(01:55):
And I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help these women who
have contended at my side in the cause of the Gospel,
along with Clement that was a little easier, and the
rest of my fellow workers whose names are in the
Book of Life. Now I've read these verses and I'm like, ah,

(02:19):
there's not a ton here. There's nothing that really jumps
out at me in these three verses, and I think
I'm gonna have to try to find something else to
talk about. But I read on and verses four and
five and On are its own podcast because it's a
different topic, and we need to take that on separately

(02:43):
because it is so good and there's a lot there.
And then I did a little deeper dive in verses
two and three, and there is indeed something to discuss.
So these two women, Yudia and Sink. They have a disagreement.

(03:09):
There is something that they have drama over. But what
the apostle Paul is saying here and what he does
is he doesn't take a side. He doesn't take either
of these two women side. He doesn't stand for one

(03:33):
of them, but rather encourages others that are closer to
these two women to promote reconciliation. And this is a
model that we should all model. Instead of picking aside,
instead of choosing who we stand behind, we should try

(04:01):
our best to promote a reconciliation within that relationship. And
a step further, if you are the one that is
in the drama filled situation where there's a little fight
going back and forth, a little rift in the relationship,

(04:25):
try your best not to have someone pick your side,
because that's what we all want in that situation. We
all want people to join our side so that we
feel more powerful, so that we feel like we're on
the right side of things. But if you're going through it,

(04:49):
try your best not to have someone even pick your side,
but rather encourage you, pray for you so that a
reconciliation in that relationship can happen. Because the last thing
we want is while you're fighting, he picks your side.

(05:12):
Although they're all fighting, it just builds upon each other.
And that's the last thing that we want, and that's
the last thing the apostle Paul wanted as well. So
it's just a few verses on really how to handle conflict,

(05:34):
how to go through battles with other people that you
disagree with. So thank you for choosing Jesus today. And
I hope the Holy Spirit revealed more and more about
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And I hope you
all have a wonderful day filled with the fruits of

(05:55):
the Holy Spirit.
