Heaven Down number seven at gmail dot com. That's Bring
Heaven Down number seven at gmail dot com. We finish
our Philippians Chapter four series today, which we have been
in for quite some time, at least a few weeks.
And this is what the apostle Paul writes were in
(01:04):
Philippians chapter four, verses fourteen through twenty, and here's what
he says. Yet, it was good for you to share
in my troubles. Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the
early days of your acquaintance with the Gospel. When I
set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me
(01:25):
in the matter of giving and receiving, and except you
only for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent
me eight again and again when I was in need.
Not that I am looking for a gift, but I
am looking for what they be credited to your account.
I have received full payment, and even more I am
(01:46):
amply supplied now that I have received from aphroditis the
gifts you sent. They are fragrant, offering and acceptable, sacrificing,
pleasing to God. And My God will meet all your
need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus, to
our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
(02:08):
So what the apostle Paul is saying here is that
as he is going sharing the good news of Jesus,
he needed to be supported through his journey, and in
verse eighteen he says, I have received full payment, and
even more I am amply supplied. Now that I have
(02:29):
received from aphroditis the gifts you sent. And what stands
out to me in these verses is something that's near
and dear to our church we attend, and a church
that I'm an employee at. I'm a part time youth
pastor at our church in Minnesota, and our church recently
(02:56):
sent out a plant. The church that I'm a part of,
that my family and I are part of, is a plant,
meaning there's a few other churches that planted this church
and now transform. The church that I'm a part of
was a part of a few other churches that planted
this other church. And they had their opening launch this
(03:22):
past weekend. And I received a message from my friend
who's the pastor there, and he texted me this. He says,
it was a great day. Thanks for your prayers. Two
one hundred and fifty people. Seven people said yes to Jesus.
It was an awesome day, no complaints with a smiley face.
(03:45):
So the sacrifice that our church and other churches surrounding
us made to plant another church, we have already seen
the benefit of that, and even more will come back
because seven people already have said yes to Jesus. And
(04:11):
when you plant the church, you don't just give them
your funds, but you send your people as well. And
what's so amazing about that. As our pastor went up
on stage and talked about the opening ceremony, opening church service,
or whatever you want to call it, and he was
saying that we sent forty people to this church to
(04:32):
go plant it in this other city that needed Jesus.
And he said that we have already received back those
forty people in different people, so different forty people. And
more so, our church sacrifice gave volunteers, servant, hearted people
(04:56):
in big positions over to this other church, and we
have already received more back from other people stepping up.
And it's just a story of God's faithfulness and trusting.
The word trust is such a rooted word. It's a
(05:22):
tough word. I'll just trust the Lord. It's such an
easy word to say, but an harder word to follow
through with, because yes, I'm just gonna trust the Lord
with my funds. I'm just gonna give to the Lord.
I'm just gonna trust. Oh that requires me to actually
do something, that requires me to actually put my funds
(05:48):
into this unknown category and trust the Lord with it.
And that's something that I personally need to grow in.
But it's just a cool story of how the Lord
was faithful to transform and how the Lord was faithful
to the Apostle Paul and how he went to other places,
(06:14):
and the church that gave and funded the Apostle Paul
to go to these other areas will receive a blessing
in return. And it's really a story of it's more
of a blessing to give than to receive. It's more
of a blessing to give than to receive because of
(06:35):
so many reasons. But most importantly, I would say, you
get to give while putting your faith in the Lord,
and then you can see how the Lord works through
that giving. But it all boils back to trusting, one
(06:57):
of the most simple but complicated words. Thank you for
choosing Jesus today and for coming along with me through
this Philippians series. I hope I was encouraging to you,
and I hope you have a wonderful day filled with
the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
