Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome into episode number seventeen of Bringing Heaven Done. My
name is Tim and I'm the host of this daily
devotional show. While you're here, hit that follow button so
this podcast will show me near feed Monday through Friday,
and if you're willing rate and review the show, so
this podcast can get more exposure and we can bring
(00:21):
Jesus to more people. And that's the purpose of this podcast.
We want to bring Jesus to people and encourage people
and maybe introduce Jesus to some people if you share
podcasts with some of your non Christian friends. What's on
my mind today, Well, today, I specifically want to talk
(00:43):
about what we allow into our lives because we need
to be very careful about every day decisions we make
of what we allow into our lives in places that
we might not necessarily even think about, because there is
(01:05):
evil all around us. So thank you for tuning in.
Make sure you hold on tight you to that steering
wheel at a good comfortable position, grab your favorite drink
or a cup of coffee, and let's bring Heaven a
little closer together. As I was saying, there's evil all
(01:32):
around us, on our phones, on the television, everywhere you
open up an app on your phone and there's some
stupid ad, or you open up an app on your phone,
then there's some stupid video that really isn't something that
your eyes should be seeing. And you also turn on
(01:59):
the TV and you watch an NBA playoff game. For me,
the NBA playoff game I was watching was the Minnesota
Timberwolves versus Golden State Warriors basketball game on Thursday night,
and the game goes to commercial, as it often does,
(02:22):
and the next thing you see is a commercial that
is showcasing a scary movie, a horror film. And when
those things come on, my wife and I make a
(02:43):
immediate decision to turn our eyes away from the TV
and to mute the TV. Because when you allow those
things into your life, those things don't just go away.
They tend to stick in your mind, and your mind
(03:08):
somehow remembers those things past the thirty second commercial that
it lasts and can cause stress, anxiety, intrusive thoughts. So
the purpose behind this question is to protect your thought life,
(03:32):
your mind, your anxiousness, your stress, because when you allow
those things into your life, it is triggers for your
mind and for your thought life to engage with something
that you really don't want it to engage with because
(03:56):
those things are not innocent. Those things have an evil
spiritual tone about them, and the Bible specifically talks about this,
and one Peter three eleven it says you must turn
away from evil and do good. You must strive for
(04:17):
peace with all your heart Psalm thirty four or fourteen.
Turn away from evil and do good, Seek peace, and
pursue it. You don't even know when those things that
you allow into your life will come back and make
(04:39):
a grand entrance into your mind. It could just be
driving down the road, hanging out with your family, and
then maybe you get a disgusting thought where it's like,
what where did that come from? I'm not even thinking
about that. I have no idea how that thought just
poss up into my head. And sometimes when those thoughts
(05:05):
pop into your head, those thoughts alone cause anxiousness or
depression because then you start wondering and thinking about where
that thought came from. Why is that thought there? Am
(05:26):
I a bad person for thinking about this thought? So
I really want to challenge you to think about what
you allow into your life. Maybe your thought life is
not what you wish it would be, or hoped it
would be maybe there's more evil thoughts in your head
(05:48):
that you wish weren't there. Am I follow up question
to that would be what do you allow into your life?
What are you watching on Instagram or ticked talk? While
you're watching a television show and a random commercial pops
up that you know is not going to be good
(06:10):
for your mind? What do you do about it? Do
you just watch it? You just let that settle in.
Even watching the news can cause these things. Because my
wife and I occasionally like to watch the news, and
when there is a terrible story about something an assault,
(06:33):
a murderer, whatever the case may be, we need to
mut the TV or turn the channel because we don't
want those things living in our mind or living in
our brain, because those are the things that come back
and cause your mind to think evil thoughts and give
you a random crazy thought where it's like, where the
(06:56):
heck did that come from? So that's my challenge for
today and on Monday, So a few days from now,
my next podcast is going to be about how we
can react to those thoughts when we get those thoughts.
Because I'm guilty of watching something that I shouldn't have
(07:17):
watched before, but I've learned. And although I don't watch
those things anymore. I've never watched horror films. But you
watch a game, a basketball game, and one of those
commercial comes on and you don't mute it. Sometimes those
things come back when you don't want them to come back.
So when those things do come back, how do you
(07:40):
react to it? What do you do? That's what I'm
going to talk about in a few days, because I
think this can apply to everybody. The thought life is
a very important thing to have clean thoughts. Good thoughts
is challenge, and I'm going to talk about how we
(08:04):
can challenge ourselves to have a good thought life. That's
coming up on Monday. Thank you for watching this episode,
hit that follow button, rate and review the show, and
thank you for choosing Jesus Today.
