it gets more ratings. That's how this works. So rate
and review the show so we can bring Jesus to
more people. Yesterday, I was taking care of our kids.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
We have two kids.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Oldest is about to turn three and our youngest is
fifteen months, and our third is coming in October. My
wife was working yesterday and I had the day with
our two children while she was working. And I was
struck really hard by God's faithfulness yesterday, and I felt

(01:10):
very convicted about something which became really funny because yesterday
was one of the toughest parenting days that I've had
in a long time, following Mother's Day weekend, lack of sleep,
traveling here and there to go see mothers and hang
out all day with mothers, which was an incredible weekend.

(01:33):
But with that being what it was, I could anticipate
what was coming on Monday, So I want to talk
about that today. So hold on tight to that steering wheel,
grab your favorite drink or a cup of coffee, and
let's bring Heaven a little closer together, all right. So, Mike,

(02:00):
the kids were playing together so nicely in the morning,
it was like eight o'clock. They're starting the day out hot, fantastic.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
And then the soon to be three year.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Old was having meltown after meltdown after meltdown. Hopefully when
she listens to this podcast when she's older, she doesn't
get embarrassed by this episode. But it is what it is.
I'm one hundred percent honest, one hundred percent of the time.
And when they were playing together so nicely with the
toys in the living room, no pushing, no shoving, no kicking,

(02:31):
no hitting, just enjoying each other's presence, I was struck
by this overwhelming feeling of God's faithfulness. Because what I
realized yesterday and I try to say thank you Lord
every day and I try to be grateful for everything

(02:55):
that I have, but what I was so struck by
yesterday was just how faithful the Lord has been to
me and my family, because I went back five years
ago when I hadn't even met my wife at this moment.

(03:16):
I met my wife in June of twenty twenty and
today's date is May thirteenth of twenty twenty five, So
five years ago I was single. As ever, I did
not have a girlfriend, and I did not meet my wife,

(03:36):
and obviously I did not have children.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
And I was just thinking about.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
How faithful the Lord has been to me throughout these years,
by not giving me a girlfriend, by not giving me
an opportunity to marry someone earlier, by allowing a lot
of failures to happen when I was younger so that
the right one would come when they came. And that's

(04:02):
my wife, and then it's my children. And I was
just thinking about that and processing it yesterday watching them
play in the floor together, and I'm like, Wow, if
I had met this person, or if I decide, or
if this person became, none of this would have been possible.
And then I also had this thought because sometimes I

(04:26):
feel like we don't reflect and process God's faithfulness as
often as we should. Just think about your families and
think about how amazing the Lord has been through your family,
or through your friends, or through your work, through your church,
because sometimes I feel like we live in a culture

(04:51):
and the society of what have you done for me lately?
What can you do for me tomorrow? What can you
do for me that's going to be valuable to me
this week?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
And sometimes I.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Feel like I treat God like that, where it's like, God, what.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Can you do for me today? What can you do
for me tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
And yesterday I was overwhelmed by just how faithful God
has been in my life as I was reflecting and
processing all of the good things that He's blessing me with,
all of the things that He said no to before
in my past, so that I could be as blessed

(05:35):
as I am today. And there is a song. It's
an older song, but it's one of my favorite songs.
The artist of the song, his name is Don Mowen
moe n however you pronounce that name. And here's what
the lyrics say. I'm not going to sing it because

(05:57):
I'm a terrible singer, but it says this Bible says
it's a good thing to give thanks to the Lord.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Amen.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I come before you today, and there's just one thing
that I want to say.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
For all you've given to me, for all the blessings
I cannot see. Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord. With
a grateful heart, with the song of praise, with an
outstretched arm, I will bless your name. Thank you Lord.
I just want to say, thank you Lord, Thank you Lord.
I just want to say, thank you Lord for all
you've done in my life. You took my darkness and

(06:32):
gave me your light.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Thank you Lord. Thank you Lord.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
You took my sin and my shame, you took my
sickness and healed all my pain.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
And then it goes into the chorus again with a
grateful heart boom, with a song of pray. I tell
you Olwen's sing, and I just kind of got caught
up in the moment. However, this song is a powerful
song because of the powerful lyrics, and what's so fascinating
about it as well, is that the way to combat

(07:02):
anxiety and worry is to have a heart and mind
of gratitude. It says it in scripture in Philippians four six.
Do not be anxious about anything, Okay, what does that mean, Well,
then here's the recipe. But in every situation, by prayer

(07:24):
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. So
what science has stated is true, which the Bible has
stated has been true for thousands of years, is that
the way to combat anxiety is with thanksgiving, is through prayer.

(07:52):
So I want to challenge you today to think about
how faithful God has been in your life and think
about the ways that He orchestrated the relationships, your work,
whatever it is that you feel thankful for. I was
thinking about our house and the cul de Sac in
Minnesota that we live, and it's like the Lord ordained

(08:12):
all of this, and today I am grateful. Became one
of the toughest parenting days in a long time because
my kids were off the hinges, but I was grateful.
I was thankful because He has been so faithful in
the good and in the bad. Thank you for choosing
Jesus today, and thank you for making this podcast part

(08:34):
of your day. Hit that follow button wherever you are listening,
and everyone have a great day.
