Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome into episode number twenty seven of Bring Heaven Down.
My name is Tim and I'm the host of this
daily devotional podcast that comes out Monday through Friday on
iHeartRadio or wherever you are listening to this podcast. Make
sure you hit that follow button, slash subscribe button, and

(00:21):
hit that rate and review button as well, so that
we can get this podcast more exposure and bring Jesus
into more living rooms and more vehicles. Also, one more note,
I want you to think of that someone in your
life who you can just simply hit that share button with,

(00:43):
because this podcast can be a simple evangelism tool. Think
about that one person in your life, whether they be
Christian or non Christian, and share Jesus with them. Who
do you know that could use encouragement from Jesus? Who

(01:04):
do you know that is far from Jesus. Who do
you know that might have a relationship with Jesus but
doesn't really have an intimate relationship with Jesus. So think
about that person, think about taking a bold step of
faith and sharing the podcast with them. But as far

(01:26):
as today goes I mowed my lawn yesterday for really
the first time all year because it's been raining and
I like to let my grass go a little bit
and planting some stuff and with my lawn mower. And
when I was all done, I was walking around and

(01:48):
I was like, this could be a podcast. I'm going
to relate my lawn to a relationship with Jesus and
our connection to Jesus. So grab your favorite drink or
a cup of coffee, maybe it's orange juice, and let's

(02:09):
bring having a little closer together. All right, Maybe you're
thinking today after I just said what I said, how
is Tim going to relate his lawn to a relationship
with Jesus. Well, here's my attemp to try. And maybe

(02:30):
I'm gonna miss the mark on this one, but we're
going full steam ahead and we're gonna give it a chance.
So after I was done more on my law, I
do what every dad does husband does. I look out
my window. I put my hands on my hips and say, ah,
that's a beautiful lot. That was some good work out there.

(02:54):
And the problem with that is after I did that,
I walked on my lawn and from a distance, our
lawn looked like a perfect turf. But when you get

(03:14):
on the lawn and you're standing in it, you see patchiness.
You see spots that aren't filled, you see spots that
lack a beautiful, green, crispy lawn, and you're like, this lawn, huh,

(03:35):
is not quite as nice as I thought it was
from the window, because my perspective was different. I was
standing on top of the lawn. I was in the lawn,
and I could see the patchiness, but from the outside
looking in, it looked perfect. And sometimes I think we

(04:00):
treat other people in our lives like that. We see
people living their life, their job, their relationship, their kids,
whether it's in person from afar or on social media,
and we look at their lives from an outside perspective

(04:21):
and think, I wish I had that life because they
have it all buttoned up and they have it perfect.
They have everything together, their life is so easy, their
kids behave so well. Based on this social media picture,
their kids smile for a photo and they have the

(04:42):
perfect profile picture. He works a beautiful, easy job and
she gets to take care of the kids at home
or whatever the case may be, and they just have
it easy. Go to the perfect church, they have the
perfect job, they have the perfect family. Kind of looking

(05:05):
like the grass from outside the window, but the truth
is when you stand in the midst of other people
and you get to know people, nobody has a perfect life.
Nobody has it all buttoned up and has it all together.

(05:27):
You might look at my life and think, oh, this
guy has it perfect, this guy has everything together. That's
not true. I don't have everything together, and neither does anybody.
And my overall point of what I'm saying is that
everybody needs Jesus. It doesn't matter if you've been a

(05:50):
Christian for thirty years or if you are a Christian
on this day, if you become a Christian today, we
are all on the same playing field. Jesus came and
saved sinners. He came to rescue this sick, not the

(06:11):
ones that are perfect. And everybody, compared to Jesus, is sick.
And Jesus came to rescue those that are sinners. And
we are all sinners. So I don't want you to

(06:32):
be discouraged this morning by the fact that other people
appear to live a perfect life. Maybe there's people in
your life that you see and are like, wow, I
wish I had their life. The problem with that thought
is we are looking at their life from outside the window,

(06:54):
and we see a beautiful, perfectly looking grass. But the
problem is, once you stand in it and see what's
going on, you will see patchioness. You will see patsioness
from every single person that's ever existed besides Jesus, because
he is the one soul, perfect individual. So I don't

(07:19):
want you to be discouraged this morning by other people's
appearance of a perfect life and comparing your life to
theirs and not feeling up to standard. The truth is this,
it doesn't matter if you've been a Christian your entire
life for forty years or if you're going to be
a Christian today. We are all on the same playing field.
Everybody needs Jesus as Lord and savior of their life.

(07:46):
Everyone has patchioness in their life. Everyone needs Jesus to
heal and to fill that patchiness. So thank you for
choosing Jesus today. And my prayer is that through the
Holy Spirit we learn more and more about our Lord

(08:08):
and Savior in Jesus Christ. Everyone, thanks for tuning in.
