Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome into episode thirty four of Bringing Heaven Down. My
name is Tim and I'm the host of this daily
devotional podcast. If this is your first time with us,
thank you for joining and being a part of this
podcasting journey. And if this is your thirty fourth time
with us, rate review the show, follow the show that
(00:23):
would be greatly appreciated. Today's topic is somewhat of an
interesting one because it is the month of June, and
with the month of June comes specific topics that are
more in your face than other months of the year.
(00:45):
The month of June is Pride Month, and it has
a huge impact on the culture and society around us.
So I think we need to talk about it. I
think we need to think about it. We need to
talk about it. So we're going to so grab your
(01:08):
favorite drink or a cup of coffee. Let's bring heaving
a little closer together, all right. Pride Month LGBTQ plus month.
It has taken the country by storm, where a ton
(01:36):
of professional sports leagues change their logos. There's parties and
dances and celebrations everywhere, and I think sometimes the Christian
(01:57):
can be shell shocked by what's going on, and we
just remain quiet on the issue. Now, I will say this,
I am just the receiver of what scripture says, just
like everybody else's. I am not making up what God's
(02:19):
word says. This is not me writing in specific things
that say gay marriage or changing your gender is not
what the Bible says. The Bible condemns it. It says
in First Corinthians, Chapter six, verse nine, or do you
(02:40):
not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom
of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral,
nor adulters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves,
nor the greedy, nor drunkers, nor revilers, nor swindlers will
inherit the Kingdom of now and complete honesty. It's an
(03:05):
intimidating verse because we're all greedy, we're all adulters. The
Bible talks about how if you've looked at your neighbor's
wife with any thought of sex in your mind, you've
committed adultery. So you look at this verse and it
(03:30):
really shows almost all sin. We all fall short. But
I think what we need to do today is to
define the definition of love, because I think this is
where the Christian side and the LGBTQ plus side completely disagree.
(03:59):
For example, if I was to engage in pornography, which
I did once upon a time when I was younger,
and the Christian came to me and said, hey, you
really shouldn't be doing that. That goes against God's word.
(04:19):
That is not what scripture tells us to do, and
that is going to impact you, not just right now,
but for years to come. So do your best, prayerfully
to get out of it. And then the LGBTQ plus
person comes and says, you do you whatever makes you happy,
(04:43):
whatever makes you feel right. What is the definition of love?
Because I would argue that the Christian definition of love
is to hold people accountable, is to have difficult go conversations,
is to say, hey, I understand what you're doing, but
(05:07):
it's not right. You've got to stop. You're going against
God's word. And I would say the LGBTQ plus definition
of love is to almost approve of what they're doing
so you don't hurt their feelings. And I think that's
(05:28):
where there's a big rub between the two sides. Because Jesus,
when he was alive, spoke truth in love all the time.
He invited tax collectors to his house. He invited sinners
to his house. He sat down and ate with sinners,
but he did not approve of what they were doing.
(05:51):
The woman that was a prostitute, when Jesus met with her,
he says, go and sin no more. He didn't say, yeah,
keep on doing what you're doing, good work. He said,
go and sin no more. Stop what you're doing, Go
and sin no more. And I think as followers of Jesus,
(06:17):
we have a responsibility, a big responsibility, to be loving
the way that Jesus was. Meaning, you don't roll your eyes,
you don't scoff at them, but you love the way
(06:39):
that Jesus did. You bring truth into the equation and
you bring love into the equation. The truth is that
God loves you, God wants what's best for you. And
the love equation is, Hey, none of us are perfect.
(07:00):
I'm broken, we're all broken. Why didn't it come to church,
Why didn't come hang out with us for a little
bit and see what happens. Because that is the way
that Jesus taught us how to love. So it's a
very intimidating month because it's everywhere and it's a tough
(07:23):
topic to address, but we're not going to be afraid
to dive into tough topics either. The overall point I'm
making is that we've all fallen short. We are taught
to bring truth and love into the equation, into the situation,
not just regarding Pride Month, but regarding every situation, in
(07:46):
every life situation that we face. We are always to
bring truth and love. We are always to bring what
Jesus brought to others. So you think about the month,
and you think about what's going on, and the Bible's clear.
The Bible is clear that the LGBTQ plus moment is
(08:13):
not a movement that Jesus would approve of. However, it
doesn't mean we throw them to the side of the street.
It does not mean that we stop loving that group.
Love just looks a little different because, in my opinion,
(08:34):
from the LGBTQ plus side, the definition of love from
the Christian standpoint is not love. So I think that's
where we struggle. That's the rub. But what Jesus taught
us to do, and what the Bible says, is to pray,
(08:57):
never stop praying for anybody, for ourselves that fall short,
for our friends who fall short for the LGBTQ plus agenda.
We've got to always remember that Jesus loves all of us, everybody,
(09:21):
and he wants all of us to come to him.
So if we live with hatred in our heart towards
a specific group, well that's not what Jesus wants either.
So we've got to be careful. You've got to be
careful how you approach the entirety of the situation, because
(09:41):
we aren't supposed to live with hate either, but you
are supposed to bring truth and love into the equation.
Thanks for joining the show today, and I appreciate you
choosing Jesus, and it was a little bit tougher conversation
or a tougher topic, but the Bible is clear on
(10:07):
every topic, on all controversial issues, and this show stands
on what the Bible teaches, so we're not gonna be
afraid to address it. Thanks for joining the show today
and I appreciate you. I hope the Lord teaches you
new things today. Have a good day.
