(00:25):
I want to talk about the power of the Holy Spirit,
because sometimes a lot of times I think I personally
underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit that resides in
each of every single believer of Jesus Christ as their

(00:50):
Lord and Savior. So I want to talk about that today.
Make sure you grab your favorite drinker, a cup of coffee,
and let's bring Heaven a little closer together. There is
so much scripture that points to and talks about the

(01:13):
power of the Holy Spirit. Acts Chapter one, verses eight.
This is Jesus speaking to his disciples, says you will
receive power, and the Holy Spirit comes on you, and
you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all
Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

(01:36):
And then I'm pretty sure Jesus floats up into the
heavens and the disciples are just staring in awe, and
then later on during Pentecost, the Holy Spirit comes into
the disciples' lives John fourteen twenty six. But the advocate,
the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,

(01:57):
will teach you all things, and from mind you of
everything I have said to you Romans eight to eleven.
But of the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from
the dead is living in you. He who raised Christ
from the dead will also give life to your moral
bodies because of his spirit who lives in you. The

(02:18):
same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead also lives
in us, which means that we are much more powerful
than we even realize, not because of us personally, not
because we did anything, but because of the spirit that

(02:45):
lives in us. There's a Bible verse that I love,
and it talks about quenching or suppressing. The Holy Spirit
comes in first Thessalonians, Chapter five, verse nineteen. Do not
quench the spirit, Do not utterly reject prophecies, but examine everything,

(03:11):
hold firmly to that which is good, Abstain from every
form of evil. And we live in a society where
evil is all around us. You turn on the news
and you are going to see evil stories. And recently

(03:36):
the news stories that have been all over the United
States has been a story that's happened in our state,
the story of Vance Bolter murdering two innocent politicians, and

(04:01):
that happened fifteen minutes from my wife and ice house
in Brooklyn Park, and then he drove to green Isle
where he was caught. And when he drove there to
green Isle, I grew up playing baseball games in green

(04:22):
Isle and it is about twenty five minutes from my
childhood home. So this story of this terrible person hits
much closer to home for me personally than it does
if this happened in Chicago or Texas or something else.

(04:47):
And when you listen to the stories, you listen to
the news, the breaking news, it can cause your mind
to go to these dark places and have these sickening thoughts.
They're called intrusive thoughts. And sometimes I suffer from intrusive

(05:10):
thoughts and it's like, where did that thought come from?
I personally did not have that thought. And this has
been something that I've struggled with for a few years.
And it's one of those things that when it happens,
you feel devastated, and you feel terrible about even having

(05:32):
a sickening thought like that, and you feel so sick.
They don't want to tell anybody, so you want to
keep it locked up in a cage. But what that
happens adds power to the thought. And when you think
about the thought over and over and overgin it just
adds power to the thought. And I was reminding myself

(05:53):
last night after I told my wife about the thought,
because you need to tell someone you love about those things,
because when you bring your thought to the light, then
the thought has no power. But you keep that thought

(06:13):
locked up in a cage, in the darkness of your mind,
and you give the thought power. And I was reminding
myself last night that the power of the Holy Spirit
lives in me, and the power that raised Jesus from
the dead is more powerful than any evil. And I

(06:42):
received so much comfort knowing the Holy Spirit lives in me.
So I literally told myself, I said, the power of
the Holy Spirit lives in me, and when the power
of the Holy Spirit lives in me, there is no
evil that is more powerful than that. And in that moment,

(07:05):
those thoughts, those intrusive thoughts, left my brain and had
no power. After I told my wife, and after I
prayed about it, and after I reminded myself about the
power of the Holy Spirit, after I stopped quenching the spirit.
Because sometimes you have these thoughts or you have these
scenarios happen, and you try to figure things out, why

(07:27):
did that happen? What's going on here? Why is this
happening inside my brain? And when you try to fight
the thought with other thoughts of Okay, this isn't real
or why is this happening? Sometimes it adds power to
the thought. But when you bring the thought to the light,
when you bring the Holy Spirit into the moment, into

(07:52):
the situation, then the Lord will work, the Holy Spirit
will work. So I hope that's encouraging for you. If
you struggle with intrusive thoughts or have struggled with anxiety
or depression, bring it to the light. Don't keep it

(08:13):
stored away in your heart or in your mind, because
when you do that, it makes you feel like you're
going through a battle by yourself. I always tell people
when you're in an army, an army does not fight
against itself, meaning if you are in God's army, you

(08:37):
are not being attacked by God, you are being attacked
by Satan. He is the one shooting arrows from the
other side. So remember that we are in God's army
and we are being attacked from the opposite side by
the evil one. But we have the Holy Spirit of

(09:00):
the Light. So I hope that's encouraging for you today.
I pray that the Holy Spirit is working in your
heart and that we learn something new about our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thank you for tuning in, rate

hope everyone has a great day.
