On today's show, I want to talk about the lie
that sin presents. So grab your favorite drink or a
cup of coffee, and let's bring Heaven a little closer together.

(00:51):
I believe we sin as often as we do because
we are convinced that a sin is going to make
make us feel a certain way. The sin presents itself
as a lie to us, and I compare it to
junk food. I love ice cream. I'm a big ice

(01:14):
cream guy. You put a little chocolate on it, a
little syrup, it's amazing. But after I eat that ice
cream that I desire so much, I feel terrible. So
the junk food that is ice cream presented a lie
to me. I wanted it. I wanted the taste, I

(01:36):
wanted the satisfaction, but afterwards it made me feel gross
and disgusting, and I regret eating it. And sin does
the same thing. Sin presents itself the same way. It
looks nice and juicy, and it looks satisfying. But then

(01:58):
you think about it. You think about the way you feel,
You think about the way you acted, You think about
the decisions that you made, and you look back on
those moments and you regret it. In Galatians chapter five,
verses thirteen, it talks about living by the spirit. It

(02:21):
says you, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free,
But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh.
Rather serve one another humbly in love, for the entire
law is fulfilled and keeping this one command, love your
neighbor as yourself. If you bite and devour each other,

(02:42):
watch out, or you will be destroyed by each other.
So I say, walk by the spirit, and you will
not gratify the desires of your flesh. For the flesh
desires what is contrary to the spirit, and the spirit
what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict
with each other, so that you are not to do

(03:04):
whatever you want. But if you are led by the spirit,
you are not under the law. When I read this
verse or these verses, what stands out to me is
the difference between living by our flesh and living by

(03:28):
the spirit. We are not to do whatever we want.
If we do whatever we want, then that means that
we are living and fulfilling the desires of our flesh.
But if we are living by the spirit and through

(03:52):
the Spirit, then that will be in direct conflict with
what our fleshly desires are asking of us, it says
in verse nineteen. It continues, the acts of the flesh
are obvious, sexual immorality, impurity and debakery, idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy,

(04:15):
fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy, drunkenness, orgies,
and the like. I warn you, as I did before,
that those who live like this will not inherit the
Kingdom of God. And then it discusses the fruit of
the spirit, love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,

(04:40):
and self control. Against such things, there is no law.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh
with its passions and desires. Since we live by the spirit,
let us keep in step with the spirit. Let us
not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Have you

(05:02):
ever gone through a situation in your life and you
look back on that and you think, how in the
world did I have so much peace and so much
kindness or goodness in this moment. It's because you were

(05:23):
living by the spirit. It's because the Holy Spirit was
working in your life, and it provided the gentleness to
have a conversation with someone, or the self control to
hold back from a fleshly desire that is sinful. I

(05:45):
think about my problem that I used to have years
ago with pornography. When I committed that sin, it looked
like ice cream, It looked sadis that's fine? But as
soon as it was over, there was massive guilt, shame,

(06:07):
and regret, and I was living out my fleshly desire.
But then the Holy Spirit worked in my heart and
basically said to me that I was not going to

(06:27):
desire that anymore. So where in your life do you
need to put away the fleshly desires and instead turned
towards the fruit of the Spirit. Where in your life
do you need to turn from your fleshly desires and

(06:49):
stop doing whatever you want and instead be led by
the Spirit. None of us are perfect. I send every
day and God cause us to repent. But where in
our life can we become more sanctified, more cleansed, and
become more and more like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

(07:14):
I hope and pray that this podcast was encouraging to you,
and that the Holy Spirit reveals more and more about
our Lord and Savior and Jesus Christ. Thank you for
choosing Jesus today and I hope you all have a
good day.
