continuing our series in Exodus, where Moses has the encounter

(00:49):
with God through the burning bush. So grab your favorite
drink or cumeup coffee and let's bring Heaven a little
closer together. All right. I'll start in the beginning and
I'm going to read until verse seven today Exodus chapter three,

(01:13):
verses one through seven. Now, Moses was tending the flock
of Jathrow, his father in law, the priest of Midian,
and he led the flock to the far side of
the wilderness and came to Hareb, the Mountain of God. There,
the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames
of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though
the bush was on fire, it did not burn up.

(01:35):
So Moses thought, I will go over and see this
strange sight. Why the bush does not burn up. When
the Lord saw that he had gone over to look,
God called to him from within the bush Moses Moses,
and Moses said here I am, do not come any closer.
God said, take off your sandals, for the place where
you're standing is holy ground. Now this is where we

(01:55):
stopped yesterday, and we broke down the first five verses.
So if you have not heard that podcast yet, I
would encourage you to go back and listen to that
one that was released yesterday. But we're going to continue here.
Verse six. Then he said, I am the God of
your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob. At this Moses hid his
face because he was afraid to look at God. The

(02:19):
Lord said, I have indeed seen the misery of my
people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because
of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
That finishes verse seven, So let's break down six and seven.
Verse six, God tells Moses who he is. He shows

(02:45):
Moses his faithfulness, he gives Moses his title. I am
the God of your Father, the God of Abraham, the
God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, three very
important characters in the Bible. The God of Abraham, the

(03:08):
God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And God says,
this is who I am. Respect my voice. I have
been there in the beginning. I've been there before a
beginning even existed. And then in verse seven, the Lord said,
I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt.

(03:30):
I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers,
and I am concerned about their suffering. So the context
behind this the Israelite people had been slaves for four
hundred years, but God says he has heard their cries

(03:51):
and I will drive them out using you, Moses, out
of their suffering, out of their slavery. Four hundred years
is a really, really, really long time, something that we
almost can't even grasp because it is so long. You

(04:12):
read four hundred years and it's a crazy amount. How
long the Israelites were in slavery. And the reason why
I bring that up is because there is, without question
a point in the Israelites' lives where they wondered if

(04:39):
God had forgotten about them. Because if you are enslaved
for four hundred years, how can you not think or
question or doubt the God of the universe. I have
never been enslaved, I have never had this harsh a situation,

(05:02):
but I too have wondered if God cared, if God
forgot about me. And my question that I want to
ask you is have you ever thought that God forgot
about you? Have you ever wondered if God left you

(05:27):
in the dust and didn't see you in your trials,
in your sufferings, in your trouble, because you look at
what the Israelites had to go through, and that's four
hundred years of being enslaved to the Egyptians. And God

(05:49):
shows his faithfulness and tells Moses, I have heard them
crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am
concerned about their suffering. I have had the thought, regretfully,
that God has forgotten about me when I've gone through

(06:13):
different trials and sufferings and difficulties throughout my life. When
a relationship didn't work or I didn't get this job.
I've wondered if God really knew just how painful the
situation was. But just like the Israelites that God delivered

(06:35):
out of slavery, Gone showed me a better way. And
what I also love about this and this will be
another podcast for a future time. This is what I remember,
and this keeps me close to God. When I start
questioning again, God proved me wrong. I thought this way

(06:59):
would be the best. I thought this path would be
the right path. God proved me wrong. So going forward,
when I start wondering and questioning why God, Why this way,
why this path? Then I looked back and remember just

(07:21):
how faithful He was in the past. And I remember
that God does not miss. He's one one hundred and
four to one hundred. He's shooting one hundred percent from
the free throw line. God does not miss. He is
faithful before, he is faithful now, he'll be faithful in
the future. It just might not look how we want

(07:41):
it to look, but it's better. So I hope this
was encouraging for you today, and I help the Holy
Spirit revealed more and more about our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ
