Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome into episode number sixty six of Bring Heaven Down.
My name is Tim and I'm the host of this
daily devotional show that shows up in your podcast Monday
through Friday. Make sure you hit that follow button, hit
that rate and review button as well. That would be
greatly appreciated. And think of a friend, Think of a
(00:22):
friend that could use an encouraging word about Jesus every
single day. I hope this podcast has been encouraging for
you as well. Last week we started a series in Exodus,
chapter three talking about Moses and the Burning Bush, and
we're still going through that series. However, I need to
(00:46):
shift my plan for today and then we'll get back
into that series as the week continues. Because there was
a topical, newsworthy topic that I want to discuss that
happened very recently. And this topic has captured the entire
(01:11):
country by storm and it's becoming a trend. So grab
your favorite drink or a cup of coffee and let's
bring Heaven a little closer together. So this topic that's
(01:33):
taking the country by storm happened at a cold Play concert.
An astronomer CEO resigns after Coldplay kiss cam scandal. So
the CEO of this company was caught on the kiss
(01:59):
cam with the chief HR lady and they were very
snuggled up, and then the kiss cam points to them
and they're very embarrassed because they just got caught and
they know the ramifications of what that means. But it
(02:20):
did not end there, because this scandal has become a meme.
This scandal has taken the sports world by storm. These
professional sports teams have done the kiss can, the coldplay
(02:43):
kiss camp where two people are snuggled up, they get
shown on the kiss cam. Then they have to pretend
like they just got caught. So the CEO had to resign,
and he is being completely ridiculed. He is being laughed at,
(03:03):
he's being mocked, and I am not defending the decision
that he made to cheat on his way because he
was wrong and there's no argument otherwise. However, what I
want to do is I want to look at this
(03:25):
objectively from the view of God, because this man's sin
was displayed for the world to see. This man's sin
was a sin that became a national story because of
(03:46):
how public his sin was. Other people cheat on their
wives and don't get this kind of blowback because it's
more of a private thing. Other people make a lot
of mistakes, but it wasn't public like this astronomer ceo.
(04:07):
And the point that I want to make today is
just because somebody's sin is private does not make it
anymore okay than what the astronomer CEO did at the
(04:30):
Coldplay concert. Just because someone is doing something behind closed
doors in their bedroom, watching something that they shouldn't be watching,
doing something that they shouldn't be doing, talking to people
that they shouldn't be talking to, flirting with someone that
(04:53):
they shouldn't be flirting with, does not make it anymore
okay than what the astronomers ce did. Yes, it's easy
to make a meme and laugh at it because once
they got caught, they realized they were caught and it
just became a terrible ordeal because they got caught. How
(05:18):
long had this been going on before they got caught?
And right now I would say that the prayer is
that hopefully, if this guy does not know Jesus and
this lady too, that this would open up a pathway
to know Jesus, because what are the odds that someone
(05:40):
lands on the big screen? Probably very slim and as
a follower of Jesus. I don't really believe in coincidences.
So maybe there's a potential opportunity for this guy to
eventually have a relationship with Jesus because you're a CEO,
(06:01):
you're riding the high life, you're doing amazing things with
the company, you're married, you have kids, and then a
bombshell happens your secret activity gets released to the public.
But again, I want to make the point, just because
you're doing something in private that is not seen by
(06:23):
the massive people does not make it anymore okay. When
I used to have a pornography problem, God views that
sin just as wrong as the sin that the CEO
of Astronomer did with the chief hr Lady. None of
(06:46):
it is okay. All sin falls short to the glory
of God. And sometimes what we do is we like
to grade sin. We like to say, well, I mean
that kind of like a C minus sin versus what
this guy did was more of like a plus sin.
This guy's really gonna get the hammer when it is
(07:08):
all viewed equally by God. Any sin that falls short
of God means that we are unworthy, and we are
born into this world as naturally sinful people. So I
(07:30):
am not going to say what he did is okay,
because it wasn't. But as he is being mocked and ridiculed,
I want to make sure that we don't view him
any less than we view ourselves when it comes to
(07:54):
the standard of being worthy and righteous of receiving the
Kingdom of heaven, because none of us deserve it. We
all need God's grace, his kindness, his love, his forgiveness.
And just because what he did was on the public
(08:15):
stage doesn't make it any more wrong than what some
of us do behind closed doors. And that's the point.
He was wrong. But sinning behind closed doors, sinning publicly,
it's all wrong. It's all viewed the same. Just because
(08:38):
nobody knows about your sin, God does and God sees it,
just like he saw the coldplay man and on the
kiss camp that was wrong. The private sin is wrong.
We are all on the level playing field. And I'm
not gonna lie. It was entertaining the memes the cams
(09:00):
at sports events, but I keep on coming back to
the same thought. The sin that's in private is just
as wrong as the sin that is being mocked publicly.
So I hope this was encouraging for you today, and
I hope the Holy Spirit revealed more and more about
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
