off of Monday's episode where I talked about baptism Sunday
at our church and how I learned something from a
(00:44):
sixth grade boy getting baptized.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
So that's the discussion today.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
So grab your favorite drink or a cup of coffee,
and let's bring Heaven a little closer together.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
As I was mentioning on.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Monday, a sixth grade boy got baptized, and his testimony
stood out to me because he was discussing the wide
versus narrow road that the Bible discusses. The narrow road
leads to life and the wide road leads to destruction.
(01:30):
And I just was so amazed by the fact that
the Holy Spirit was working so much to give this
sixth grade boy this amount of wisdom, because I certainly
did not have that kind of wisdom as a sixth
(01:52):
grade boy. I think I was a follower of Jesus,
but I was not as wise as he was, or
as he is at his current age, because middle school
peer pressures language things you do. The fact that he
(02:14):
understood the concept of the wide versus narrow road at
a young age was just outstanding in my opinion. And
the verse that sticks out to me about this situation
comes in the Book of First Timothy, chapter four, verses twelve.
(02:38):
It says, don't let anyone look down on you because
you are young, but set an example for the believers
in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.
And that little boy, that sixth grade boy, understood this concept,
(03:00):
even if he doesn't know what this verse says, because
he set an example for the believers not only in
what he said, but in what he did. And not
only in what he did and what he said, but
(03:20):
the fact that he was on stage in front of
hundreds of people getting baptized a sixth grade boy, when
there are adults who are very afraid to do the
exact same thing. And there's no shame in being afraid.
But it's true many adults don't want to go on
(03:44):
stage and read their testimony, although it is exactly what
God calls us to do to be publicly baptized, to
go underneath the waters and come back up, because what
that represents is when you go out underneath the water,
(04:06):
that represents your old self, and when you come back up,
that old self stays down in the water, and then
you are a new creation, new follower. You are new
in Christ. And the fact that he was a sixth
grade boy doing this was a great example for me
(04:32):
and other followers of Jesus.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
And this is also.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
A verse that applies to adults as well, because although
it says, don't let anyone look down on you because
you are young, but set an example for the believers
in speech, in conduct, and love and faith and I purity,
this verse applies to adults as well because just because
(05:00):
they are youth, it doesn't mean we should look down
on them. And I think sometimes, and I'm guilty of
this too, I can see a young middle school boy,
or a high school boy or a college student and
look down on them a little bit, because, oh, what
(05:21):
do they know, how are they wise? What do they
have to offer someone who has life experience like I do?
But the words that I just said are words filled
with pride. So we also need to open up our
hearts and minds and pray that we would be open
(05:45):
to hearing something that somebody twenty thirty years younger than
us has to say, because the Holy Spirit is working
in them as well.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
But we need to open up our stubborn.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Brains and allow the Holy Spirit to work in us
and hear the good words that they have to say
about Jesus. So it's a challenge for us too, because
our natural instinct is to look down on someone that's
younger than us, that isn't as smart as us, that
doesn't have as much life experience as we do.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
But if the Bible is saying to.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
The youth, don't let anyone look down on you because
you are young, but set an example for the believers
in speech and conduct and love and faith and I parity,
it also means that we shouldn't look down on them
because they are young, because they have something to offer,
(06:52):
because they have speech, actions, fruits of the Holy Spirit
that are amazing and is something we can learn from.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Thank you for choosing Jesus.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Today, and hope the Holy Spirit feal more and more
about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope you
all have a wonderful day filled with the Holy Spirit
