Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome into episode number nine of Bring Heaven Down. My
name is Tim and I am the host of this
daily devotional podcast that will show up in your feeds
Monday through Friday. If you're here for the first time
or the ninth time, hit that follow button wherever you're
listening to the show. This podcast explores scripture versus topical
(00:22):
subjects and world events. So I hope you're enjoying the
journey that this podcast has taking you on so far.
And I'm excited to talk about today's subject because what
I'm gonna talk about today is a personal prayer life
pet peeve that I have. And I do believe that
(00:46):
this prayer life pet peeve is biblical, so I'm not
just coming out of nowhere with this. So we're gonna
explore that today, and I'm gonna explain my heart behind
this topic. Hold on tight to this steering wheel, grab
your favorite drink or a cup of coffee, and let's
bring Heaven a little closer together. Okay, So let's talk
(01:19):
about this prayer life pet peeve of mine. God answers
prayers in three ways. He says yes, he says no,
or he says wait. And sometimes when God says no
to a prayer that later on we are grateful for.
Have you ever prayed something so consistently that you're so
(01:44):
sure you wanted something so badly that you're like, God,
I need this, I want this, this is going to
be best for me. He says no, or he says wait,
And later on it is revealed to you that him
saying no or wait is actually one of the biggest
blessings in your life. And sometimes when that happens. Would
(02:06):
I hear in a church setting or a Bible study
setting is thank God for unanswered prayers? And that is
my pet beef, because God doesn't leave any prayer unanswered.
He says yes, he says no, or he says wait,
(02:30):
hold on, I've got something better for you. I remember
when I lived in Washington, d C. I was a
part time employee at Serious XM Radio. And when I
was an employee at Serious XM Radio, I prayed for
months and years that the Lord would open up an
(02:52):
opportunity to be a full time producer at Serious XM.
And four months to my part time work at Serious XM,
a full time opportunity became available, and I was jacked.
I was so excited. I was like, God had this
(03:14):
out for me. He knew my heart, and here it is.
I'm going to be full time in four months, when
I was anticipating that this would take at least a year. God,
thank you for this opportunity. I know I'm going to
step into this role. Which is another lesson we should
learn about our prayer life. We should not get ahead
of God. We should wait on God's timing and trust
(03:38):
God's timing. Because as that opportunity became open, I applied
for it as a big fat no, and I was frustrated.
I was like, God, what's going on here? And did
God not answer that prayer? Of course he answered that prayer.
His answer was no, it wasn't an unanswered prayer. Another
(04:03):
full time job opened up as serious exam and I'm like, Okay,
here we go. It's time. Finally after about a year.
This was kind of my projection. Anyways, this is the
time I apply for it. I'm thinking, God, here we
go again, thank you for another opportunity. And the answer
(04:24):
was no again. Okay, Now I'm starting to get better. Lord,
I what do I gotta do here? I'm praying, I'm
on my hands and knees, say, Lord, bless me with this,
give me an opportunity to let my talent shine. I
don't want to be a delivery driver at Jimmy Johns
anymore in downtown Washington, d C. On a delivery bike,
(04:48):
freezing my butt off in ten to twenty degree temperatures
on a bike, just so that I can pay rent.
And God said no. Was it an unanswered prayer? No,
it was clearly answered. The answer was no. A third
opportunity to opens. Okay, here we go, this is the
(05:09):
moment to shine. Three times, three times the charm, Lord,
you got me on this one. The answer was no. Again.
Three separate times I prayed that the Lord would open
an opportunity at serious XM. And three separate times the
opportunity became available, and all three times the Lord's answer
(05:32):
to me was no. And in that moment, I was
so frustrated and so bitter and so angry with God
because I had been pouring out my heart and soul
into this position, and I had given it everything. I
moved across the country to go to Washington, d C.
(05:54):
And all I wanted was for the Lord to meet
me halfway. I poured my heart and sold into this position,
into moving across the country, into doing God's work at
Jimmy John's. And all I wanted was one little full
time job so that it didn't have to work full
time at Jimmy John's anymore. Taking Jimmy John's subs on
(06:16):
a bicycle either in the one hundred degree humidity or
the thirty degree cold in the winter. God said no
all three times, which means He did not leave any
of those prayers unanswered. I hope this podcast was encouraging
to you today, and maybe you haven't experienced similar to me,
(06:38):
and maybe you understand my prayer life, pet Beef, because
it is biblical. Yes, no, or wait are God's answers
to all our prayers. He doesn't leave any of us unanswered.
He listens and hears us all as it says in
the Bible. Today was part one my prayer life, Pet Peeve. Tomorrow,
(06:59):
I want to talk about and discuss how God guided
me through this time and how God knew my heart
better than I even knew my heart. And maybe you're
going through the same struggle that I once went through.
Then I'm sure I'll go through again in the future
where God says no, and know and know and wait,
wait wait Tomorrow, I want to encourage you if you
(07:22):
are going through this painful prayer situation as I once
did in the past, where it almost seemed like God
was ignoring me or God was absent, and God kept
on saying no, like why don't you care about me? God?
What about me? What about my wants and what mine
(07:43):
needs and my desires? Maybe are going through that, and
tomorrow's episode I'm going to cover that, and I hope
it's encouraging to you everyone. Thank you for making this
podcast part of your day. Rate review the show wherever
you're listening, And I hope the Holy Spirit revealed more
more about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ today
