Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's awkward.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
It's awkward Tuesday phone call.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
We've all seen the movies and the TV shows where
American women go overseas and fall in love with international men.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
It time, Ali, It's true, it's not fiction.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Did like Alexis has tender profiles active in several foreign countries.

Speaker 5 (00:26):
At the moment.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
You can't blame me, and I know.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
It's been a dream of Brooks since she was young
to get seduced by a man with an accent. That's
why her husband won't let her drive alone to the
home depot anymore. She might fall in love with one
of the day workers standing outside.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
It's just not worth the risk.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Man today on the phone, one of our listeners needs
help because she felt the amore deep in her heart
when she traveled abroad and it didn't work out like
she thought.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Are you bilingual?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
That was weird? I even he just saying one foreign
word really did a number on Brooke there.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
But let's talk to Lily. Lily, welcome to the show.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
Hi, thanks for having me. Lily.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Where did you go that you had a romance connection
with a guy abroad?

Speaker 5 (01:18):
So a few months ago I went on a big
girl's trip to Italy and Greece to celebrate a friend's
thirtieth birthday.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
When you say big girls, it sounds like because we
grew up, we're big girls.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Yeah, all right, Italy and Greece, that's a romantic area
of the world.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
It was, and you know, we got some attention from
some local guys and I don't know, I just really
connected with this one guy, Giovanni. But I called him
to you.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Okay, he said it with a smile, call them to you.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Yeah, okay, I mean he was tall, olive skin charming.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
That you send some photos to the book and Jeffrey
email when you get a chance.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
But the description, well just just wants to make sure
it's not somebody.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
She also, so you and Geo ended up spending a
lot of time together.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
Yeah, like basically the entire time, and like do you
always showing me all these cool places like that tourists
don't even know about? So it was just like really
really really romantic.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I mean, that's all sounds very romantic and nice. What
made you email us? Like, where did the problem come up?

Speaker 5 (02:34):
So the problem is that I'm kind of sort of
a relationship.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Oh yeah, that's a problem so that means your girlfriends
are pissed at you.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Yeah, you got your entire trip while you're Yeah, I
wouldn't consider it cheating. Okay, I would not consider it cheating.
Because the guy that I've been on and off with
for a while, his name is Derek. You know, we
were it was in that like Rachel Ross thing, like
in that gray area, like kind of unclear where we were.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
So you weren't fully in the relationship with Derek when
you went to Italy?

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Correct?

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Okay, what about now? Are you still on a break
with Derekh? What is the status?

Speaker 5 (03:18):
This is the whole issue, Okay, because one of my
girlfriends posted a photo of me with Geo and Derek
saw it and he immediately texted me, and it was
this whole big thing. I won't even get into it.
So I told him, you know what, we're over, Like
I moved on. You need to do the same. And
in my mind I was like, Okay, it's Geo, Like

(03:38):
that's where I'm going.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Okay, Okay, did a clean break from Derek fully and.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Now you're fully with the Italian guy.

Speaker 5 (03:45):
Well, here's the issue. So I got back from the trip,
and you know, when you come back from a trip
and like reality sets in.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I don't know if that happened.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
It sucks coming back here. I'm not gonna lie because
go back to work. And then you start realizing, you
know what a relationship with someone like this miles and
miles away, we're probably not going to work. We couldn't
even connect on with that. And then I started to
think to myself, I think Derek.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Is for me. Come on, you can't play with Derek
this Like I feel like it's Jennifer Lopez calling in with.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Don't downplay the romance that Jlo and Ben had that
was whirlwind, Well was complicated.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
It's not black and white.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I know my co host don't believe in the idea
of love on this show, but you're lucky. I'm in
your corner here yet agree.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
I think love is simple, but.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Okay, boom is simple and its super easy for everybody.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
It's not Brooke.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
You got to rub it in all of our faces
that you're found like the perfect relationship and oh if
mine's perfect, everybody else should be perfect.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I just went through a lot of unperfect prior to
finding something that was easy and easy. It should be.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
So what's your advice then give up.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Yes, don't know Derek, but I'm guessing that's not what
she's calling for.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
No, I'm not. I mean, I look, I don't want
to go groveling back, but I want him to know
I made a mistake. I think we should be together.
You know, everybody's human.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
So and with your awkward call here, you want to
call your like kind of ex Derek and tell him
you made a mistake and you want to be back
with him.

Speaker 6 (05:26):
Is that right?

Speaker 5 (05:27):
That is exactly right? And I am super nervous. I mean,
I haven't spoken him till that moment I would like
move on.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
And how long ago was that moment?

Speaker 5 (05:36):
About two three weeks ago? And really, guys, like when
I came home and realized Geo and I just couldn't connect.
I think I quickly realized, like what am I doing?
I was living in like a fantasy.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
You forgot about the time change.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
Basically, it just could.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Make you realize that Derek was the one the whole time.

Speaker 7 (05:52):
So that's understandable too.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Yeah, we're going to make true love happen right here
on this segment. As much as Brooke hates the idea
of that happening, Hey.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I'm ready to force it.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
Okay, and again, can we still have Geo's Instagram?

Speaker 6 (06:06):
Ye?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Seems like a cast.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
We're gonna prove six time is the charm with this
relationship when we do your awkward Tuesday phone call and
tell Derek you made a mistake in Italy right after this.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
It's awkward, It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Welcome back to your awkward Tuesday phone calls, Brooke and Jeffrey.
In the morning, we've been speaking with our listener Lily,
who went on a girl's trip to Italy recently met.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
A hot, single Italian man named Giovanni there.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
And while there are few days of whirlwind romance were
definitely unforgettable.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
She knows she made a mistake.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
By telling her on again, off again boyfriend that it
is over and she is moving.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
On to this Italian man.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
So now she needs our help backtracking a little bit
to get back together with her American boyfriend Derek. But
have we even considered Giovanni's feelings in all of this? Okay,
guarantee you he is heartbroken and definitely not waiting for

(07:17):
the next cute American girl to get off the planet.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Even know that he's single.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
I'm just saying, once we get done with your awkward
Tuesday Lily, we probably need to reach out to Geo
and just make sure he's.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Okay, check in.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Thank you for doing that. I'll find him.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
First.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
We need to get some advice for Lily. So what
do you think?

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Okay, So here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
No one wants to be somebody else's backup plan. And
the way he painted the picture makes it sound kind
of like that's.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
What Derek is.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
So we are going to go the opposite direction, and
you were going to tell him that Geo is the
one that made you realize how much you.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Care for Derek.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Some would say, don't even bring Geo up at all,
But that's some interesting advice there.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
If she gets desperate, she could also added I kept
calling Geo your name.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Men would like that.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
What do you think from a guy's perspective, all he's
thinking about is you and Geo together in his head, right,
So you need to reassure him and tell him number one,
GEO is out of the picture forever, and then give
him a huge promise.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
What is it?

Speaker 7 (08:35):
The promise is I will never leave you again, no
matter whatever.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Happened.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
I feel like that's impossible. You're it.

Speaker 7 (08:45):
I tried somebody else and no one can.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Compare it to what's his name, Geo, Derek?

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Derek, Yeah, there it is.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Okay, lock yourself into a commitment with him permanently.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Thank you, Jeff.

Speaker 7 (08:57):
You get it.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
She was just with an Italian man. I don't know
that she's ready for commitment. It's a big promise.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
And whatever you do, don't forget Derek's name like we
all did. Just you can remember his name. I think
you're pretty solid there.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
So don't come.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Don't call him the generic male American.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Or whatever.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
As long as we can avoid that. I think you're good.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
I'm dialing your ex boyfriend Derek, and uh hopefully he
picks up.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Here we go, Hello, my.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Really, yeah, it's me. How are you?

Speaker 6 (09:47):
What are you doing calling me right now?

Speaker 5 (09:50):
Look? I need to have a conversation with you. And
I know we talked all about my rowind romance with
Geo in Italy.

Speaker 6 (10:02):
Oh god, look I get it. Okay, you met a
hunky Italian dude. Congratulations. I don't know what you want
from me.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
Thank you, but you need you need to hear this.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
I wasn't really congratulated. I was being sarcastic.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Okay, whatever, you just need to hear me out. Okay,
you and I have been on and off for like
four years, and you know what they say, like the
grass is always greener? Right?

Speaker 6 (10:28):
Who says who says that? What do you mean?

Speaker 5 (10:31):
He's just saying Okay, everybody says it. But anyway, listen
with Geo, it was like very very.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
Green, like right, doesn't even mean.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
I don't know how else to say it, like it
was very very green, like really green. Oh god, I
mean he had like, hay, thee eyes, rugged hands, like
maybe it's hair. Here's no good eyes.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
I'm going to hang up the phone right now. Okay,
I'm going to hang up. This is not hard enough.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
I don't know. Listen, listen, listen, listen. You need to
hear me out. You need to hear this. What I'm
saying is that all that he offered, everything that he had, Okay,
it doesn't compare what we had together, like you and me.
It just there was no comparison, even though he was unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
Is that supposed to make me feel good? It doesn't.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Yes, I mean I literally like there were times I
would call Geo Derek like I said your name when
I was looking at him, so yeah, and like honestly,
I just I just realized I don't need like a
hot masculine Italian guy to sweep me off my feet
and make me happy and you know, just give me pleasure,
like I don't need all that. I guess I.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
Just need you. I'm about to throw up.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
Please don't throw up, Please do not throw up. Look,
I'm I'm just getting this off my chest. I have
to tell you. I don't need GQ model or bring
surgeon or a millionaire. I just I need a guy
who's there for me. I need like an average normal
guy that just looks And.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Please, Lily, what are you doing?

Speaker 6 (12:24):
What is going on right now?

Speaker 1 (12:25):
A train wreck? Is what is going on?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Derek?

Speaker 3 (12:28):
Because you're on the radio right now with Brooke and
Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
That could not have gone worse.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
You told me to bring Geo up, just like you said, no, no, no,
you don't talk about how great details did you.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Did say to switch up the names? There?

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Broke that how I meant it?

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Okay? Well are you okay?

Speaker 2 (12:52):
I am so sorry.

Speaker 6 (12:53):
I don't even know who you are or why all
these people are on the line with me right now?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
What long story is we're radio station that your girlfriend
or ex girlfriend? I know it's kind of gray.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
I don't think girlfriend.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Well, Lily feels really really bad about what happened in
Italy with the Italian guy.

Speaker 6 (13:18):
We're not even to get she felt pretty good.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Well, she didn't want you to know that.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
It's just she realized that what she really needs in
her life is a guy like you.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
Yes, a normal, average, everyday guy like me she met.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
She feels like she didn't ever give your relationship a
chance and that wasn't.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Fair to either of you.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
And now she's ready like you're not the greenest grass,
but you're kind of green.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Don't know.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
Why is everyone trolling me? Why is everybody?

Speaker 1 (13:52):
We're not trying to do that.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
We're just trying to say that Lily wants to be
with you.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
Yes and not.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
I would advise it, but she is throwing Giovanni and
his hunky masculine body overboard into the deep end of
the pool to sink down to the bottom. And unfortunately
we're running out of time on this segment here, so
we just want to know, will you give Lily, another
chance at your.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Relationship, A fifth chance.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Maybe we don't know how many times, but whatever it is,
it's going to be the charm this time.

Speaker 6 (14:24):
I mean, if the call is because you want to
get back together, I mean we were never really broken
up in my mind in the first place.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
So wait, so what does this mean? Like, what what
does this mean? Are you gonna give me another chance?
Because I don't want to lose you. I made a mistake.
I realize now what I thought I wanted before is
not what I need, and I am willing to give
up all of the things that I thought I wanted
for you.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
Yeah, let's try.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
What romance isn't dead? Joe Man, The cycle continues.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
Coming back in like.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Three months on.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
So Derek, just to be clear, all that stuff that
she was saying about Geo, you're able to get past it.

Speaker 6 (15:13):
I mean, of course it bothers me, But that's Lily, dude.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Oh that's her. At least you know what you got
yourself into.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
We went through the same thing last year when she
went to Switzerland. I don't even want to talk about
oh oh.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Yeah, Swiss chocolate. I actually can't blame her on that.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
Come on, that's not fair. That was like almost two
years ago. I thought it was under the bridge.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I got

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Freaking Jeffrey in the morning.
