Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right here it is the most over anticipated movie review.
I don't know that anyone's anticipating it, but I am Brooke.
We've been waiting, yes, but for Brooke.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
To finally watch a movie.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
She said she would three weeks ago. I'll tell you.
I just looked it up and Alexis sent me this
movie on November three. Oh wow. After she sent it
to me, I responded with, you hate me, don't you?
Yeah you did? Yeah, but I did it. I watched
a buried Jonas Christmas movie. Yea, okay, so it's interesting.
(00:33):
I'm just gonna before we get into the questions, because
Alexis wrote me up some questions. I want people to
understand my mindset of the Jonas brothers. You don't like them, No,
it's not that I don't like them. I just don't care. Yeah,
you know, like I literally like whatever. I'm glad that
people like him. I have zero opinion. God, I mean
so much so that I was tagged in an old
(00:54):
photo where I interviewed all three of them and completely
forgot that I had ever done. Like it came up
in my timeline from a friend because he was at
and I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Like, what, that's me you can't remember you met them.
How old were they then?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Do you know? This would have been like fifteen years ago,
so they were like super big at the moment. Yea,
And you still remember. Okay, it wasn't a moment, but
I did remember where I got that black top I
was wearing in the picture, the important detail. I couldn't
have Borne Nords room at the time, and I really
scorged for it. I felt so cute a lot, let
me tell you. So I went in with very low
expectations of the film, got it very low expectations, and
(01:33):
procrastinated it a lot. And yes, you did ask me
the first question.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
My first question is for anyone who hasn't seen it,
what's the plot broke?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Okay, well, they did not reinvent the wheel on this one. Oh,
they recycled like an old Christmas thing. Well. Nick Jonas
sums it up in one sentence by saying, every Christmas
movie ever, the entire plot is for people to try
to get home by Christmas time. Oh that is yeah,
seen a Christmas movie. It's the entire plot of the film. Oh,
(02:03):
so that's the plot of the film, is trying to
get home to his dad in New York. Yes, is it?
The three boys are trying to get home in time
for Christmas after their world tour just ended. Yeah, let
me guess a wacky journey happened. Plot twist. Okay, Joe
meets Sanna at a bar. Oh yeah, yeah, listen, Joe's
(02:27):
Joe's down in the dumps. You've got to hear what
Joe says to Sannah.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
But us his brothers like, actually, whatever magic was there.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
It's just that.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Nothing like Christmas to help a family rediscover its magic.
So they go on to Big Journey. There's a lot
of Sannah magic to help them rediscover how they love
each other.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
And brother played by.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Famous people too. I was kind of surprised, Wait, is
there more like I'm going to tell you right now? Okay,
that plot sounds so terribly cheesy, but it's self deprecating
and it is really funny. And the film opens. The
film opens, you don't even see the Jonahs brothers for
the first couple of minutes because it's all Will Ferrell.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Okay, well I was gonna play the Will Ferrell clip later,
but can we skip to you at Ashton? Okay?
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Hit it Ashton, and you guys saw the boat, I
would say, and after a joke about how Will Ferrell
and his real three sons are in.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
It is the biggest Jonah's Brothers fan, and how he
wishes that the Jonas brothers were his kids instead.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Of his I will say when I saw that, I
was shocked when he was in the movie.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, there's all sorts of cameos. So I would assume, well,
maybe not now, but I would assume that most people
would stay away from it. It's like, that's your corny
Christmas movie. You guys do your thing. Oh my god.
And that's to say the plot is so corny, but
they totally lean in to how corny it is.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I am happy to hear that broke and I have
you watched it with your kids?
Speaker 1 (04:05):
What did they think? Okay, so the first ten minutes
was me trying to convince my daughter that they're actually brothers,
Like they don't look alike, mom, And I'm like, they're
brothers in real life, they're brothers. They're like, no, they're not.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
They're onto something.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Oh yeah, who's their real dad? Maybe there's a fraternity
test needed. So there was a lot of that. But
once we got past that point, yeah, good, Okay. Then
you get introduced to a Joe Jonas love interest who
apparently is another famous actress or singer or something. I
don't know her. I don't know her either, Yeah, but
she looks like she could be related to them. I mean, honestly,
(04:45):
she looks like the Jonah's sister that never exists. Did
your daughter get confused again? Well, they both my son
and my daughter are like, well, that's weird that you
would date someone that looks like the rest of your family. Yeah,
you know, so that wasn't good. But there was a
lot of laughter out of my kids.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
They really like, we all laughed a lot.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
I'm not even lying. It could be that I was
two glasses of wine in you were. You definitely need
to go in with the right mindset if you're going
to enjoy it. Yeah, kids only had one each, yo.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Okay, And speaking of the right mindset, it is a
movie with a lot of singing, So could you tell me, Brooke,
how long was it until they started singing?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
And be honest, did you secretly like any of their music?
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Okurrct Well it literally opens while they're singing on stage
at a concert. So but I thought that was just
part of a scene which my children were very upset
because the concert only lasted one song.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
They want to.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
You can't do a whole movie, you guys, with a
real life concert. Yes. But then it was about I
think fifteen minutes in when I realized, oh, this is
a musical. Yeah, so it's not just the joke. It
is a musical. And the first musical song actually sold
me because Joe Jonas is fantasy of what would happen
(06:01):
if all three bros went out clubbing together. And there's
a scene, this is my favorite line from this song.
There's a scene where a couple people recognize them in
a bar. And remember, this is all a musical, So listen, Kevin.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Sometimes hot, there's a shortness and you're a lot less hot.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
The cringe. Know, they're so deprecating, so funny, it's self deprecating,
and you know that they're writing into these lyrics what
people are actually telling them when they get, you know,
meet people. Yeah. I was actually no, it's very cringe,
but it's cringe on purpose.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Okay, Yeah, excepting that people think they're cringe yeah yeah,
and that.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
They're too short, they're not hot as they should be.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
It's great okay, so you said you laughed a lot, Well,
it was the funniest moment.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
So we already played the Will Ferrell because he has
he's only he could be in it more like your request.
Kenny g makes an appearance, but that's.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
He has a song with them, I would say.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I mean, besides the boys just the entire time just
ribbon on each other, like going hard at each other,
like making fun of each other. I really loved the
Home Alone battle song. So there is In order to
think this is funny, you have to understand the premise
of this is Joe Jonas was in a Home Alone
(07:34):
musical on Broadway. They got canceled, okay, in the movie,
and he had an arch nemesis who played Kevin McAllister.
Joe Jonas was the dad. Sorry Nick, this is on Nick.
See that's a problem with this voice. I don't know
who Nick, Ken, I like their mother, like you whoever
you are. Nick plays the dad, and then the guy
(07:57):
he's singing with who they hate each other, played Kevin,
and so they recreate one of the songs from the
Home Alone musical. It's like a battle, yes, and it's
so dumb.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
I was a bad, dirty soon.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Made my family disserve.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Father's greatest but normal being home alone. It's time that
we are at home together.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
I means dumb, dumb. He's embarrassed of it, like in
the movie.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Yeah, he's like, oh god, and the brothers are like, no,
wonder this got canceled. And then there's also a shirtless
uh selfie taking pilot that's very funny. Yes, well, I
won't go into the whole thing, but he's very hot.
It was great. I'm telling you. I know we're not
to that question yet. I was gonna ask, but they
do lead a lot.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Into Joe also dating right, like being a playboy right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Like a total man whore. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Was he the one that just got divorced, Yes, from
Sophie Turner.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah right, that's why he's the only one who was
able to date someone have a love interest in the movie.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
The other ones with their wives.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Yeah, and the wives are in it.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
So okay, I was gonna.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Ask you the cringiest moment is that the same as
the funniest home alone song?
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Or there's a separate cringing moment for you.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
There's a couple of cringy things for me. I took
note where my notes at here? Okay, one Sanna who
is the actor from Modern Family, Yeah, Mitchell and Tyler, Yeah, yep, yeah, Santa.
He was trying to be like funny, campy. He just
missed the mark he came and I think it was
(09:45):
maybe the writing. I'm not sure, but he creeped my
kids out, like.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah, they had nightmares and Sanda, I think, so okay.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
And then also the other thing that was cringe to
me is so, of course they always have to include
some sort of love story in these movies. Yeah, right,
But did Joe Jonas's love interests have to also sing?
They do a duet together, and they're like craancied around. No,
it's fine, just it's corny. It's so corny. Yeah, And
(10:16):
it's like, al right, guys. There's even a point where
in one of the songs they play actual home videos
of the Jonas brothers when they were and I liked that,
but that was too corny. The love interest singing. Okay
for part of it, and then the other big complaints
that we have in the whole house and everybody, these
(10:38):
boys have been doing this for so long, How are
they this bad at lip syncing? So do you think
that they'd be better.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I didn't notice when I watched it, did you know?
Speaker 3 (10:50):
It was the first thing, Even when I was just
like pulling the audio from the clips, you could tell clips.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
It's it's the worst lip syncing I've ever seen.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
We've done these reviews a few times for movies. I
have never had a movie that I feel like I
want to watch for so many reasons. Is it cram
is it funny, is it cute? Is it a disaster?
But it's also good. All of those things improve the
lip syncing, you know, just like their sound guys could
sync it up better. I don't know. It's like, you
know that part of the King, I don't know. I
(11:22):
don't think that was on purpose.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
But they're all into TikTok now, you know, reacting to
feedback on them. So maybe we need to get your
son on there giving him some criticism.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
So I mean you've already clarified you liked it, But
do you like the Jonas brothers more now or even
have the favorite brother?
Speaker 1 (11:40):
I do like him now, I actually like them now. Yeah,
and the whole movie is based on each of their stereotypes. Yes,
and I gotta say, the funniest guy is Kevin, the
one who's name nobody ever remembers. He's really funny.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yeah, they lean into it for sure.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
I mean there's even one subplot for Kevin. His whole
goal is to finally sing his own song because he's
always in the background and nobody remembers him. Yeah, and
he finally lets his brothers know while they're about to
be attacked by wolves.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Yeah, so listen, I'm sorry if we never got to
hear you say I'm sing. Your voice is pretty old time,
pretty okay.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
I mean it is so true because I just saw
Jonah's brothers like this year, and when you see you
look at Kevin ont stage, You're like, Kevin, what are
you doing there?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Anyway?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
He looks so much older than all the other ones.
He's the oldest. No, I don't think so, I think
so anyway.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Yeah, so I'm Kevin Jonas fan.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
What is a Jonah's brother's fan called? Are they the
Are we the Joe Bros?
Speaker 2 (12:46):
They're the Joe Bros.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
They're the Joe Bros.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
So we're not the Joe Bras.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
The job the Joe Bros. Maybe, I mean that's only
for Joe. Yeah, I guess yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Yeah, I don't know what that is, but I was
gonna Yeah, Okay, do you think this will become an
annual Christmas movie your family watches together?
Speaker 1 (13:07):
That's what I wanted to ask. I'm so happy she's
asking you. What's crazy is we already have plans to
watch it again before Christmas? Who are you going to
show it to? Or you just want to watch it again?
Because I've been wanting to have a big, like holiday
slumber party for my kids with their friends, and it would, honestly,
like my all the kids would love it like girls
(13:28):
and boys. How much swearings in the movie? Bro?
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, okay, that's cute, So you're gonna watch it again.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
This year, so okay, watch it with my family too. Yeah,
it's fun.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Out of ten bros, what's your rating on the movie?
Speaker 1 (13:42):
That is a wrong rating because there are actually four
Jonas brothers.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Something I learned now that I'm an avid fan.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I looked up you're a Jonattic.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
I think it's it's not just the three boys in
the band, there's also a fourth little brother. Yeah, yeah,
frank flashed enough. Frankie makes an appearance. Yeah, so I
would give it all four bros. Wow, yeah, two glasses.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Of wine, and the movie exceeds all expectations.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Watch it. So this time, I'm telling you, I'm gonna
learn the music along. I'm so happy. I thought it
was cute too, so I'm glad.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
But I hope this is not a choice we regrant
getting broke as a Jonas brothers man, I'm going.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
To repost that picture of me and the bros And
say that it was the best day of my life.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
All right, I'll commenting your Norse trip top was cute.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
All right.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
If you haven't watched it, go watch it. Ja.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
There's no spoilers that we gave you. No, there's so
much more to see.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, Hey, thanks for being with us.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Happy holidays, you have a great weekend. Moving back Monday
with a brand new show right here, and uh, you know,
subscribe if you can. All right, it's Brig and Jeffrey
in the morning.
