Speaker 1 (00:00):
Second date, up date.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
For a date.

Speaker 3 (00:04):
Would you rather be silently ghosted or blatantly canceled on?

Speaker 4 (00:10):
Yikes? And at least you would know if you're blatantly
canceled on.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Yeah, but wondering I can make up my own excuse
like I'm too perfect?

Speaker 4 (00:19):
Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
When you're ghosted, there's still that like glimmer of hope
that maybe they got the wrong bar, or maybe they got.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
A rested their phone broke.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah, because they fell down a man hole and they
can't get out. Did you can invent a story for
yourself there that makes you feel good? But today one
of our listeners, Jillian, thought she had a second date
locked down until she got one very strange last minute
text calling it off, and now she's really confused and
needs our help.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Jillian, Welcome to the show.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Hi, thank you.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
My interest is so Pete. Don't want to know what
that text message says that.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Someone was confused.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
So let's start at the beginning of your story. How
did you meet this guy? What's his name?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
His names Zach?

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Where did you and Zach meet?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
So we met at a bar?

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Oh in real life?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
In real life? Yeah? I know, right, so it was
like last Friday night, I have been planning on staying in,
like not going out at all that night.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
That's what it always happens, right, I know, right, which
means that you weren't looking your best. You're probably kind
of a mess. But yes, okay, no, I don't mean
that in a mean way. I was looking kid, Okay,
that's just meet that.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah. Then I had this like feeling after I got
home from work where I was like, no, you know what,
I actually don't want to have a cozy night and
I want to go do something.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
I always have a feeling to gore feeling to go
out so fun.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
You're bringing the good energy.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Okay, so where do you go?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
So I called my girlfriend. We go to a bar
kind of by my place, and we're just hanging out
and then I see this guy and I like, I
don't usually make the first move, like ever, but I
was kind of like listening to their not listening to
their conversation. But I was at the bar trying to
get a drink.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
I thought you were gonna say, but I was kind
of drunk, So.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
I did it.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Right there. They were talking about the movie Wicked.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Oh, and I had just.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Seen it and their opinions were like totally wrong. So
I jumped in to tell him why he was wrong,
but also just like to flirt with him, and.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Okay, right off the back, don't argue about a man
with wicked either.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I just know that there's two guys arguing over wicked together.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I feel like I already know why he's not calling
you back.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
But no, she was, come on, yeah, if you like
touch their arm and stuff, then they love an argument.
So anyway, we ended up talking for a while. We
went to another bar together, just the two of us. Okay, yeah,

(03:02):
well she was kind of done. She was like, yeah,
I came out for you, So if you're good, like bye.
And we had plans for a second date. We were
going to go to this bar that has ski ball
and I was going to beat him at skyball and
O kill.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Oh my gosh. So you guys even talked about where
and when and all of it.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Yeah, all of it. And so then shere's the crazy part.
That morning that we're supposed to go out, I get
a text from him that says, I'm onto you, dates
off on to you, on to you, I'm on to you.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah, what does that mean?

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I don't know. I texted him back and I was like,
what are you talking about? And then he just didn't
answer me.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Does he think that you're in a relationship or something.
That's the first thing that I think, Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
We should have asked, are you currently with somebody?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
No? No?

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Okay, d yeah, what's wrong with that?

Speaker 4 (03:53):
And that's so strange too, because you don't have any
like it's not like you can ask his friends. You
don't know anybody that he knows, you know, right exactly
if you google search your name, is there like a
weird news article that comes up of somebody who with
a shared name.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
I don't even know if he knows my last name
to google me at all. But also like I don't
think anything crazy comes up.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
She's like, my last name is Dahmer. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
I swear I paid to have all those articles to
lead it. Y.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah. My best guess is that maybe one of his
friends like thought I was someone else that they recognize me,
you know, like dark bar. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Oh yeah, you.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Know what that's happened to my friend group before?

Speaker 2 (04:36):
She was some other girl bro. Never mind, it could be.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
That like a girl from the dating apps. Yeah, he
was just so bold, I know, and you don't follow
it up, Like, if you're gonna accused, just tell me
what I've been accused of.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah, it's just so frustrating. Like I've texted him a
few times being like, hey, I don't even need to
go out again, I just want to know what are
you upset about? And I don't get anything.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Well need to know for future dates because what if
other you say the same thing and you still don't
know what you know.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
You're.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Purposely using him for something.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Just tell us at least mass texting him makes you
sound super laid back and chill, so he has nothing
to complain about. When we call him now and try
and ask him why he didn't follow through with the
second date that you had already arranged with him.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Will we ask him what the hell that text message meant?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Jeff, Let really pile on and tell him everything is
done wrong in his.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Life, his opinions that wicked suck.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yes, good, we.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Will beat him into a pulp and second date update
coming up right after.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
This second date update.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I can't believe we never caught the nursery rhyme connection
because our listener, Jillian I met a guy named Zacha
and Jill.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Zack and Jill.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
You mean Jack and Jill, But it sounds it sounds
pretty close. Okay, someone someone flugged priests school in this
room and it wasn't It was definitely not Zach.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Well, I'm trying to rhyme, Jill.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Sorry for trying to draw a connection. I thought it
was a cute story. They met at a bar. They
were drinking pails of white claw together.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
How the nursery rhyme goes?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Jill said, great, to another date, and Zach canceled last second.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Oh okay, and that's.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Where we are today. Like a total jerk.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Zach reached out to Jillian the day of their second
meet up and said, I'm on to you.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Date canceled.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
So Zach is fetching a.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Pail of water right now.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
No, he's rolling down a hill. I think I thought
it was white claw.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I got the nursery right now.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
The whole thing is confusing, especially to Jillian, because there
was no explanation for what he meant by I'm on
to you.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
It's so accusatory. I mean, the thing is is that
although Jeff you're calling him a jerk, he thinks She's
a jerk, is what it sounds like. Yeah, but we
don't know why exactly.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I'm on to you.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
We'll raise an eyebrow to anybody.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yeah, walk up to me and say that right now,
I'd be like, what you feel guilty? Yeah, no matter what. Yeah,
my guess is that he's going to be coming in
hot like a text like that. It's not going to
be I thought, what if it was his tagline? What
if he answers it like I'm onto you Hello? You
know what if that's his thing?

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Yeah, you probably don't want to end up with him. Yeah,
probably not dial his number. See how he answers the
phone if he picks up and hopefully get an explanation.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Are you ready?

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I'm ready?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
So that was a question just to myself.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I'm ready when he's talking to jeff Okay.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Hello, Hey is this Zach?

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Who's speaking?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Interesting? Hey, Zach, Welcome to the show.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Uh what is this?

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Sorry?

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Sorry for that she was so flirty with that question.
This is there a radio show. We're We're called Brook
and Jeffrey in the Morning. This is a segment called
second Date Update. Okay, you could help us because we
have a listener who you met up with the other night.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Her name is Jillian.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
You guys met at a bar.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Oh my god, are you joking?

Speaker 4 (08:17):
No?

Speaker 5 (08:18):
No, yeah, she keeps texting me.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Yes, right, I can hear your confused. Can I tell
you what we know from what Gillian told us? Because
she said, you guys met at the bar the other night,
you hit it off, ended up separating from your friend
group to just hang out one on one, and then
arranged a second meetup. Had it all planned out until
the day of she got this cryptic text from you

(08:43):
saying I'm on to you.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Wow, Okay, so she'd told.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
You a lot.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Yeah, because I mean, honestly, she has no idea what
you're referring to in that text message.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Well, I can explain that.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
That would be great because she just does not understand
what happened, if she did something wrong. We're just trying
to give her some clarity.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
We asked, are you in the middle of some awful dealings?

Speaker 3 (09:05):
And she's like, I Am not in the midst of evil,
So you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
So she has no idea what you're talking about.

Speaker 5 (09:10):
Okay. So the day of the next date, I went
back to the bar that we had met at and
this bartender recognizes me and he says, hey, are you
hanging out with Jillian again?

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Anytime soon?

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Oh? They know her at the bar, like she's a
regular or something.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
Okay, well that's what I was thinking. So I say,
what's going on?

Speaker 1 (09:33):
How do you know her?

Speaker 5 (09:34):
And he says that she calls the bar like every night,
asking if there's any cute guys there.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Oh. Really, this world just opened up? Are you serious?
She calls it ahead of time just to see if
it's worth her time to go down there.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
Yeah, not just that place. Apparently she does that all
over town.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
How do you know all over town?

Speaker 5 (09:57):
Yes, that's what the bartender said.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
So I don't know.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
So are you upset that you were the cute guy
that the bartender reported on a compliment.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Or the fact that she calls the bar every single
night going out.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
There, Like she doesn't go to the bar every night.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Though, unless there's cute guys radio enough, that's why she
decided to go from I'm staying home, I'm going out, Yes, Worth,
you're going.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Out for that's a compliment.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
She said that to you.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
She mentioned that the night that she was going out
and met you, she was considering staying in, but something
changed her mind and she wanted to go out that
night instead.

Speaker 5 (10:33):
Okay, so it.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Turns out that something was a phone call to the
bar to ask if there's any good looking guys there.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
But we didn't know that.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Why does that make you so upset?

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Well, I'm just another cute guy at a bar to her,
and it's just kind of shady that she is talking
how spontaneous this whole thing was, when really she kind
of planned the whole.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
So it feels like you were deceived a little bit.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
It's nice to be the cute guy, but now it's
like you don't feel special because every night there's another
cute guy and I.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Just feel like it's weird.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Someone pretends they just met you randomly when they did
it oh acting a bit, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
Yeah exactly. I didn't feel special at all and pretty
weird to me.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Now you should feel, specially you're on a radio show.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, and he calls us every day, though she does,
she's never before ever.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Actually she specifically reached out so that we could get
in contact with you to find this information out.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
That should mean something, right.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
I guess.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
I mean, now you have your reason.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Uh, Okay, well, thank you for that, and we're thankful.
But who I think is more appreciative is actually Jillian,
who is on the other line listening to this conversation.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
It does soe like she's like always on the other line.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Yeah, oh my, this is the only one actually making
phone calls.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Jillian, are you there?

Speaker 1 (11:49):
I'm here, and I have quite a bit to say.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
In response, not I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Well no, I'm not sorry. What did make you wrong?
First of all, I do not call them every night,
like Friday and Saturday nights, okay, And like, listen, if
I'm at home, I don't want to have to like
put on pants and like make up and you know,
like just to go to a bar when there's nobody there,

(12:18):
and so I'll call be like hey, is it popping?
There are a lot of guys there, what's going on?
And but but I would not mind you guys when
I said I almost never approach anybody.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Oh, she did mention Zach.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
I mean, yeah, are you still there, Zach.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
I'm not sure what to believe anymore. I mean, she's
saying one thing to you guys, the bytender says a
different thing than me. So I don't know this is all.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Kind of shady, dude.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
It would have been such a good pickup line to
walk up to him and be like, hey, I called
ahead of time and they said you were here.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Yea that I would Yeah, you're right, Maybe I'll just
say it.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Yeah, No, I asked for hot guys and they delivered you.
So tell us how that goes.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Not as romantic to a guy's ear as you probably think.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
I don't think anyone's give a romance at a bar, Jeff,
They're just looking to talk.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
More clearly, someone who is looking for romance is Zach,
and he feels like he's not special, that he's just
one of many guys. You would have taken any cute
guy at the bar that night, and he just happened
to be there.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
That is absolutely not accurate. I can see why he
would think that, but it's it's so not true.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
And look, we do appreciate you coming forward, Jillian and
actually admitting that you did this, because I think a
lot of people would deny it or try to like
be like, no, I've never done that. You told us
you were going to stay in, but you had a
special feeling, and the special feeling was a call to
the bar asking them to scope out hot guys for you.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
Which Alexis is definitely picking up. I think every bar
should just start posting who's there online.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
That you should feel special. The bartender said, there were
lots of cute guys, but you were the cutest, and
you're the one I talked to.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Look at that stand out. You're a standout, qutie, Zach.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
It's the strange to pretend like it wasn't all set up.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Well, now that all the information is out there, can
we book ski ball again and actually follow through with
the second date that you had already planned for each
other before this misunderstanding.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
I mean, if anything, Zach, it shows what a on
top organized woman she is. Yeah, she definitely got her
her life organized.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
And if you guys start dating, she'll call the bar
make sure it's all ugly guys the next time she goes.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
That's a good point since I met you.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Oh all right, I mean I'm willing to try again.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Okay, really, wow, that was so heartfelt, Zach, I really
buy it.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
I know, I wonder if this is like setting her
up to get stood.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Up now, because Zach, if you actually agree to meet
up with her, we will pay for the date.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Yeah, okay, again, it just feels.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Like very like you're brushing us off in the room.
Can feel something's weird.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
I don't expect reactions men anymore.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Yah, Zach, be honest. Doesn't sound like you're actually gonna
call her, are you?

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Yeah? Probably not.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
I mean, look now they're both ghosting each other for
each other.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yeah, two ghosts make a right, it's not it. I
think it is Zach and Jill. That's how the fairy.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Tale is brooking Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
I swear, sometimes you can just tell when somebody isn't
fully into it and they're just saying yes to go
along with pure pressure.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
I wanted him to be into it, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
But there was something in his voice. I was like, yeah, yeah, sure.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
I mean he was still the hottest guy in the bar.
Maybe that's why he doesn't carry as options.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
But if someone's not into it, you don't want to
go along with it, honey, will you marry me?

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Fine?

Speaker 1 (15:56):
No.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
The great thing about it is both of them were
actually honest with us. In the end, she admitted that
she calls ahead to bars to scope cute guys out.
He admits he'll say yes to dates when he doesn't
really care to actually meet up with.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
So many questions for the bartender's telling her type? Does
she give photos, know more about it?

Speaker 2 (16:13):
What does she get out of it?

Speaker 4 (16:15):
She could Kip More's a guy. It was a guide bar.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
It still is he making money?

Speaker 4 (16:21):
He just gets somebody else to come to the bar.
Bars are always looking for more women.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah, all the bartenders out there, make sure you text
into seven eight, five, nine two when you have cute
guys and there so Alexis knows where and when to.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Go, even if it's nine am. Yeah, she'll be means
to you.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
If you need help with your dating life, email the show.
We'll call that person who's not calling you back and
