Speaker 1 (00:06):
Text you will heal, then, text you will. Doctors can
heal you physically, Therapists heal you mentally. But this group
of radio rejects promises to heal you textually. Oh yes, yes,
we do it in this segment called textual healing. Oh no,

(00:29):
not the smartest group that we have in here. But
one of our listeners has asked for our help with
a text conversation that she's been having. Her name is Alyssa. So, Alyssa,
welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Hi, thank you, Oh man, Alyssa desperate times. We're the
desperate measure.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, so you're on with the Texperts right now. Please
tell us how we can help heal you textually.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Oh please help heal me.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Heal me, heal me. I like that.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I went to a dinner party at a girlfriend's house
the other night. I don't know, probably eight of us
were there, and she's a long time friend of mine,
like a decade, Like we went to college together, we
known each other forever, and it was a great night. Right,
nobody drank too much?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Wow, I cannot relate. Yeah, how is it a party?

Speaker 4 (01:18):
She's not friends with me? Obviously, just kidding. This sounds
lovely this sounds like a great night.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
Oh it was great.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
I mean she made this like incredible dinner with these
goat cheese enchiladas and besides so so so so yummy.
Oh my.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Anytime I hear goat cheese, I'm like, fancy it could
be a goat cheese milkshake, and I'd.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Be like, oh, so good to have a good friend
that cooks well. Yeah, right, oh god, I love them,
I know.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
And that's why when I got a notification on my
phone from her on Venmo the next morning, and it
was acting for a payment of twenty five dollars a request, well,
I didn't know. I thought it was some sort of mistake.
I was like, uh, and I didn't do anything about it.
But a half hour after that, another fun who was

(02:07):
at the party with me, she screenshoted her Venmo requests. Oh,
and she sent it to me saying like you tf
yeah everybody.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Oh wait, hold up, your girlfriend was charging people for
her dinner party she hosted.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
And how is it twenty five a person? It's kind
of a lot.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
Cheap.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Okay, wait wait though that's a lot?

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Is there? It was there like a text thread.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
You weren't in on, like everybody was chipping in, like
instead of pot luck, she was gonna.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
I know, I mean it didn't sound like that. It
was like, come to my house for a dinner. I
think everybody was pretty caught off guard by the whole thing,
And honestly, I kind of I think it's offensive, and
I think other people think it's a venta Yeah, but
it make sure it look kind of bad. Right.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Have you hosted dinner parties before where anybody charged money
or is this the first time?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
No, I mean we've absolutely all had parties together before
it at each other's houses for dinner, and no one
has ever asked for money.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Makes weird.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Yeah, that is weirder because if you had before, then
it's like, oh, I forgot we've been doing this new thing.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
I mean it's like.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Me, money's tight. Then don't offer to host I guess
I don't.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Know, or yeah, or you text everybody and say, hey,
that costs more than I expected.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
You guys mind chipping in.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Like it's crazy that she just went straight to Venmo,
didn't give you any warning.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, and now there's like this whole other text chain
flying with everybody else at the party, and now they're
wanting me to talk to her about it.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
You've been nominated as the spokesperson for the entire group.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, are you closest with her? Is that why?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yeah? She was my roommate.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Okay, And what kind of person is she? I mean,
she doesn't sound like a super direct person. If she
didn't tell you about.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
This, it's so passive aggressive.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
I don't Yeah, I guess it is really passive aggressive. Huh. Yeah,
But like, I'll give it this side box. It's not
a problem, that's not the thing. It's just I don't
think anybody's gonna want to go over there if it's
like it's gonna be every time.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
So you want to text her, Hey, you're out of
the friend group now, this is the last text you'll
ever get.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
They meet her, she cooks.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
I think you need to come in acting dumb like
that you don't know it's for the dinner. I mean,
did she say it in the venmo request like you know?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Because no, it says for dinner.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Okay, Okay. Normally I don't advocate for something like this,
But what if you got a little passive aggressive with it?
Wait backack, Like it'll take you out of the crosshairs.
If you blame this on one of your other friends,
it's it's yeah, it is. It's just a little bit
because they're the ones that are making you talk to
her anyway, So like whoever you like the least out

(04:48):
of your friend group. They were saying, I don't know, what.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
If you just say this?

Speaker 4 (04:56):
What if you just say this, Like if we could
do what Jeff's doing, you could say, hey, girl, just
a heads up.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Everybody's really confused about this.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I think one why because it makes it seem more
real that way, is there's somebody in your friend group
that you like the least.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
God, okay, I mean there's the newest friend maybe even okay, okay, okay.
So his name is Kevin. He's dating our other college
friend Bear. So he's the newest guy around.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Guy, let's put it on Kevin.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
He's not going to just be like be like.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Hey, you know, I'm always going to be honest with you,
right you Yeah, Like you're coming to her rescue. And
it's like Kevin told me that he thought your Venmo
request was way over the line. It's scary, And I
was like, what are you kidding me?

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Kevin?

Speaker 2 (05:54):
What should I tell you is this conversation.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
I'm just saying, don't ever try and charge me or something.
What do you think money?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yeah, because definitely, I mean it's true.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Okay, you have to ask at the end.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Then I feel like, did you give anybody a warning
or did you tell anyone this was happening?

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah? Maybe, but not right now. We just have to
get Kevin under the bus and quickly typing.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Okay, I just I'm going to say, hey, lady, thanks
so much for dinner last night. I'm always honest with you.
And this morning Kevin told me that the Venmo request
was like way too much, and I said, what are
you talking about? Question mark? Question mark? Question mark?

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Well, I think you should write way over the line,
really not over the top.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I'm not sure. Yeah, I think that's difference is going
to make all of your things.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
And I kind of like leaving it as a question
because you can exauge her reaction. She could laugh and
be like, oh, it's not that big of a deal,
or she could be like what.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
No, yeah, yeah, yeah, But you can't side with your
friend right in the beginning, because what if you have
to want she doesn't want to pay it either.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
I think you need to build solidarity with her before
you start asking questions.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
How about just like I can't believe him?

Speaker 1 (07:09):
And a finger snap emoji.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
No.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Nails, any of those up.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
To you, Alyssa, this is your text.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Imagine what your group texting your friends, and he.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Is very sasgic. All right, Melissa, have you sent that yet?

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Yeah, okay, good. So we're going to play a song.
We'll come back start, we'll see if your friend has
responded when we continue textual healing. Man, it is tough
being better than Brooke in a girl's text conversation. I
just am And you know you gotta use God's gifts

(07:49):
the way that he gives them to you. Thanks God,
finger snap emoji, praying emoji.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
I say better, you say better, I say more petty,
but whatever.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
I know it's hard for you to admit that a
man is right sometimes, but it's happening and we're helping out.
One of our listeners, Alyssa, after one of her best
friends invited her to a dinner party, which they have
all the time, but this time it was a little
bit different because the next day, Alyssa got a Venmo
request asking for twenty five bucks to pay for dinner
along with all her other friends that were there that night,

(08:20):
and everybody started gossiping like WTF, this is ridiculous. We
didn't talk about this beforehand, and they all nominated Alyssa
as the one person that was going to talk to
her friend about it. So we're discussing what we should say,
and her initial text, we decided to go the passive
aggressive route.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Well, you decided, I don't know that. I want to
hang my hat on this initial text.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
I think it was a group decision, but we decided
to blame it all on a dude named Kevin that
hardly anybody knows.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
It's a date and one of the girls.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
I'll read the text generally, what it said was, Hey, lady,
just being honest, Kevin messaged me this morning saying your
Venmo request was way over the line. You believe him?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Your friends?

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Why is Kevin talking to you?

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Did? She respond?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Yeah, Lissa, have you gotten a response?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah? I did, I totally got one.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
What did your friends say?

Speaker 3 (09:13):
She says, what does Kevin know? He can't even cook?
And then she's got an egg emoji.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
I mean it's a good pay.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Yeah. She also wrote, though he's lucky that Mirror is
even dating him.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Oh all right, so okay, so we stirred up a
bunch of drama for Kevin.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Now hopefully Kevin's not listening to this.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
But that wasn't productive at all, was it?

Speaker 5 (09:35):
I think it was because now we can defend Kevin
slightly and be like, well, it's not crazy, right, Like
twenty five dollars is.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
A lot interesting thought, But I disagree. I think we're
going harder on Kevin and we agree with her.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Comment, but then how do you ever back out and
say I don't want to pay it.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Yeah, we need to really get onto her good side
before we deliver the bad news.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
We're gonna sneak attacker that she shouldn't be charging her friends.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
I think you say totally, I agree, he is so
lucky to be with He's so lucky to be with Mira.
But don't you agree that it's rude what he said? Okay, broke,
before we do it? What's your dumb idea we should
say like hugging kids.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I like the mirror part that I said.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
I think that it's good to say, yeah, she he
is lucky to be dating her, because, like you know,
that's just sticking up for your friend, that's honest.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
But then I think that you have to say, well,
Kevin may have a point. That's right, that was a
little much like nobody expected it.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Let's get to that later. Okay, all right, let's just
let's really pushed.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
Kevin down him ugly too. Let's just do this.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
I don't know. You just think like being direct with
her is a good way to go. Just tell her
what you think.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Well, yeah, but I kind of like when what Jeff saying, like, well,
do you think it's rude that he said that? And
then lets her answer the question for me without me
even having to ask it exactly.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
And I think and I think if we can really
get onto her good side first and put her into
a great mood, then we'll be able to open it
up and deliver a little bit of bad news and
say you may have overstepped just a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Okay, I mean, let's try it.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Let's see what she has to say. Okay, go ahead,
a list so you can send that.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Oh oh no, no, I already got it. It's already said.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Okay, Okay, discussing for discussion. I mean I hope Kevin
and Myra don't work out. I mean for your saying, because.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
I'm just saying I wouldn't go that far.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Somebody got to tell Kevin that you threw him under
the bus. He's fine, he knew he has a suck
up to everyone a.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Person that was like defending Kevin ten.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Seconds ago, like say, like, we're if kind of has
a point.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
It's like a nice call, isn't.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
That what we.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
I got blue dots, I got okay, all right.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
So we're gonna get a response here soon.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
I call those drama doaths.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Got Oh that is good?

Speaker 4 (12:01):
That Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Maybe I should have charged him more money. The meal
costs so much to make, and actually I'm going to
charge him double. I'm going to send another request right now.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Oh my god, what did you do to Kevin Jeffrey
Jeffrey laugh.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Was kind of funny, But you're just making money.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I think she's profited. You think that's going on the
right route right now?

Speaker 5 (12:28):
I think now is when you have to defend Kevin
and say, look, I think twenty five is already.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
A lot to ask. Don't do that to the poor guy.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Lo o L. I mean, at this point, are you
going to tell her like he wasn't the only one
that was surprised by this.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Why would you want to be on Kevin's side.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Because he's lucky to be dating mirror.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Stop standing up for this guy, but he's nobody. I mean,
at any point, Elizabeth, Kevin actually complained during the meal.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
No, No, he didn't complain at all.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
He was like, complain maybe maybe this time.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Sorry what I say she's writing back already?

Speaker 1 (13:09):
We didn't send anything.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
I know.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
That's how girlfriend text go.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
Like, I have some girls that like text me like one.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Especially if it's about drama.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
What she's saying, Well.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
She said, you don't think it was rude that I
asked you for money? Right?

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Because I was out a lot of money. People drank
a lot of wine.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Yeah, okay, not.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Considering the wine you guys doing be wild? Yeah, Like
you bring your own wine to a dinner Why off
her wine?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
No one shows up to a dinner party without a
bottle of wine.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
It's just like that's just your thing. You carry wine
with you everywhere you win.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
It's etiquette, Jeffrey, you don't show up to a dinner
party empty handed.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
But right now we're in Yeah, this is our end
now because she's asking you directly.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yes, So the passive aggressive strategy you worked. Thank you,
whether you guys liked it or not. Now she's asking
Alyssa whether or not. It's okay, we're not telling her.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
You can't use rude in your You need to say
that it was surprising.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
That's a good word.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
You can even still continue to throw Kevin under the
bus if you want to be like, look, I personally
didn't think it was.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Rude, but unexpected, absolutely surprising.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
You're saying he's in the doghouse, but it sounds like
that's where he belonged to just be the guy to
all girls dinner party for.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I think that's good.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Yeah, I like it too. I mean, I think it
makes sense because then I'm writing again, writing that fine line.
The problem solved.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
Yeah, and then you could say, like I mean, you
could even add if you wanted to, it's surprising.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
We didn't discuss it.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
It's already sent. I even added a little bit at
the end, and I said, maybe if you gave us
a heads up before, Kevin wouldn't be so whiny next time.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
That's nice.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
That was shad you brought it back on to Kevin
at the end.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
So do you feel like, I mean, maybe this.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Will bring some closure to the whole thing. You're still
going to pay it, though, like all your friends are
going to.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Pay it, right, I have to?

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Yeah, I mean I guess we have to at this point.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
But you set the tone for the next inner product.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Well, and she's the only one charged that the next
inner party is well.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Maybe Kevin's gonna pay for the whole freaking thing.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Did she write that?

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Yeah she did.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Actually, Okay, what'd you say?

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Okay, okay, okay, what does it say? Okay? So she
wrote back, she says, l You'll never believe it. Kevin
just paid me twice. I said, thanks for the great dinner.
What a kiss? And she's got that like laugh cry
and motion.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
That I hate him even more. I know, fifty you'll
probably never go back to a second one. Just sounds
so punishable, Kevin.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
At least Kevin's got money or good for.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
That's all I care about all this, All right.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I feel I feel like we've done our job. We've
healed you. I feel like I'm sorry I have done
our job. Yeah, thank so, you are welcome. Good luck
with this, Alyssa, thank you, thank you, thank you. Make
sure to reach out if you ever need help again,
but maybe just to me directly.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
And if you get a vendor request from the show,
pay it because we need money.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Forward it, Kevin. It's textual healing. It's Brook and Jeffrey
in the morning

Speaker 2 (16:40):
