Speaker 1 (00:00):
Today.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You're here with us on the weekend means you get
the podcast exclusive. This part of the show is not
aired on the radio because it's so good.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
And thank you to everyone.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Who follows and comments of course on the podcast. Of
course you can leave a review on Apple Podcasts, but
we especially love Spotify because we can write you back,
which is so fun. And we got such great notes
for the start of the year. Oh yeah, another day,
another great podcast. Someone wants to buy your sweaty towel, Alexis, No,
it's because a.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Mass speaker we aired that's out of nowhere.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
That just to clarify someone else, tyson Berg said, best
podcast ever. So you listened to every single podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I don't know if trust's judgment.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
That's a good points adoint you take a look into that.
But right now we're going to get to the game,
of course that we play on the weekends where we
pit the generations against each other. It's today versus back
in the day and yes week I get to answer
the question as an old person. Yeah, a little bit
about the new young people trend.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Although these third battle you should know this.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I think you'd do good to Okay, Alexis came up
with the questions for gen Z.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yes, and we're going to start off talking about how
this year was the year of celebrity lookalike contests.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Oh my god, everywhere?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yes, many?

Speaker 3 (01:20):
And did you see the Golden Globes the winner of
the Timothy Shallomy and Glen Powell looked like contests got flown.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
To the crazy that's cool. Insane, Yeah, it was literally insane.
Timothy Shelmy showed up to his own lookalike contests.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Yeah, and Glen Powell did a cameo for his Oh
he did. Yeah, Jeremy Allen White is the only one
who did it.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
He didn't really wow. Wow makes sense.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
But yes, Timothy Shallomy one was definitely the biggest, had
like over two thousand people in attendance to watch he
showed up insane And so I don't know if you
know how it works, but in my head I imagined that,
you know, the look like show up, they step up
and everyone cheers who's their favorite?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Okay, yeah, well.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
I've seen like the Jeremy Ellen White one. I think
that a woman won it.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Oh yeah, well yeah, so that is true.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
But that is the first round of the Timothy Shalome one. Okay,
step in the circle, people cheer yes or no, and
they limit it down to five okay, and from there
those five go through two more rounds actually to find
the winner.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Wait, it's that Yes, it was for this one.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I mean, I guess it makes sense because they're getting
a trip in admittance to the Golden No.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
But and they didn't know they'd even get to meet Timothy,
but they did. They were all in the red carpet.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I saw red cabbet pictures of the look like go
more viable than actually Timothy.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
At the end of the day, it's no joke.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
So I'm gonna list you off a few things that
they had to do it the lookike contest for Timothy shame.
And you need to tell me which one of these
is fake? Okay, but the rest are real that they
did to win.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
The lookalike contest?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Did they have to say a sentence in French? Okay?
B pitch how they'd make.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
The world better place see pure imagination from Willy Wonka.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Oh, that one makes more sense.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
You choose a single from the crowd that they'd want
to date.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Oh, so one of those is face awkward.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
It's a lot in that Timothy to date.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
I don't think they just want to date themselves. Well,
you know how I feel about the Willy Walker remakers.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
I know how you'm not.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I'm not a fan and I have gotten in almost
a fight about this before. But uh, that one makes
the most sense. The dating thing is weird, but the
whole event is weird. And what were the first two?

Speaker 3 (03:33):
They a sentence in French, okay, and pitch how they'd
make the world a better place? And these are things
that they had to do in rounds two and three
of the Timothy lookalike contexts.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Hey, pitch how they make the world a better place.
That's just kind of lame. And then the French he's
not actually French, like his name is French, but can
he speak French? Like?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
You don't believe any of these I don't. Three happened?

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh, three happened, and only you're choosing the fake one.
Oh my god, Okay, I think that the fake one
is making the world a better place, all right.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Bro, I'm sorry, Really, Walker, the other three don't even
make sense. That's the only one that they had to choose.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
A single pitch how they'd make the world better and
Timothy Shalomy speaks French.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Here's a clipper. I'm doing this and I from I
can translate. He's saying, I listened to Jeffrey every morning.

(04:39):
But this makes podcast interview about us.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Okay, but it wasn't just a quote about how hot
my girlfriend Kylor Janer's right, we all learned something.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Yeah, and the winner was Miles Mitchell and funny in fact,
his YouTube handle is Tmoothie Shalom. Now that's what he's going, right,
that's actually freez good. All right, next question, Okay, we
are going to talk about Guinness World Records.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Okay, and fun fact, there is one.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
I mean there's one for everything, but there's one for
the longest breathold.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
On screen while filming a movie underwater.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Okay, it's seven minutes and fifteen seconds.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
I'm going to give you three movie franchises, and you
need to tell me which one it's from.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
It was setn okay, and these all three are the
top three. These are all real. They're all you need
to tell me.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
The number one Okay, it wasn't from.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Mission Impossible, God Avatar.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
That's the first one that I thought was a Black
Panther series. Oh my god, because then they do all
that fighting in the water on the black panther on
the waterfall. Yeah, they're all in contention for it. That
is fascinating, dude. People who can hold their breath for
a long time freak me out.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
My scare.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
My best friend went to college in Whitey and her
boyfriend was a free diver and we would go out
to the beach and he would just be underwater for
what felt like and I'm like yo, and I'm like,
you need, don't.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Worry about it. She's like it's okay. Then drown pop up?
What happened? He's like, oh, sorry, I fell asleep on there.
What's going on? I don't like that. I don't like
it was very uncumppy for me.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I mean, I may just go with my gut because
as soon as you read the question, the first thing
I thought was Avatar, because and then they had that
whole water Avatar movie. Oh, then the Airbender, the water
Bender one or whatever, just the newest one.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Way of water. I'm gonna stop talking.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
I love you, all right, I'm gonna go Avatar.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
All right, I'm gonna play you.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
The clip from when it actually happened was caught on
video and we'll see if you're right.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Who is it?

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Con my dead?

Speaker 2 (07:05):
I dead a lot very much.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
What was that? What do you think it was? I
don't know. It could have been six ' ten, It
could have been seven ten, it was seven point fifteen,
like from Avatar in the Way Water.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
You're right, Kate, what'sland is such a badass? Yeah, she
can hold it breath for that long, but she sends
every guy off the door.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, I know, yeah, maybe she was redeeming herself.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Were they filming for that? Yeah, it was.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Underwater doing a scene and she popped up and they'd
been timing it and that's how long she stayed under
cheese looking. Yeah, so you got it right, Tok Cruise
did have it until she broke it. He had it
from impossible twenty fifteen you take him back. And then
in Black Panther when they were filming the second one,
they were actually trying to break it but they couldn't.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
That's really funny. It was like they jumped in.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Yeah that's Alexis, thank you. Fascinating.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
All right, this last one is gonna be fun Okay. Well,
besides the sad news that, as of right now, TikTok
could be leaving.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Oh no soon, I mean in like days, didn't they say?

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Didn't they say? January nineteen is like the day that
they're just gonna shut it down.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
So in case it is, we are going to do
a recap of the most viral audio over the years.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Okay, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
I have five audio clips for you. Okay, from twenty
twenty to twenty twenty four. I picked one of the
most trending audio from that year.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
I like it. I think I could get this because
we do a lot of TikTok stuff on our show.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
But you need to tell me which year these were.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Okay, I got it.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Let's start with your first clip me, I may like,
what do you like?

Speaker 1 (08:49):

I think you were really into that.

Speaker 2 (09:02):

all the audio in for this game.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Yeah, dinner a little bit.

Speaker 2 (09:43):

Speaker 3 (09:46):

Speaker 1 (10:15):
We didn't.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
We missed that one.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Huh, Yeah, we didn't.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
I think it might have been too hard for me
to learn. I don't know if I could have done
renegad on video for the show.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I think twenty twenty one, twenty twenty.

Speaker 3 (10:31):

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
