Speaker 1 (00:00):
You found it the home of the Second Date Update.
It is Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, and thanks
for being here on the podcast. Yes, you know, I
love all the comments we've been getting from all over
the world, and I think this one really sums up
what these second dates are. Nicholie Hubert in Brazil wrote,
the call just gets worse and worse.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Oh It's true, it does. It's like a guilty pleasure
listening though. You know, we love when you comment.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
We love when you subscribe even more, so please do it.
And hey, just sit back and enjoy the Second Date Update.
It's brand new and it starts right now.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
The Second Date Update.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Alexis, how do you feel about a guy bringing you
a gift on a first date? Do you like a
guy to have a present or do you require it?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Well, I was gonna say it depends what it is,
you know, like I require something.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
But yeah, but like money's preferred.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Don't show what just cash.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
That takes the date to a day type of relationship whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Loox, this is into you have it okayside business. But
I only asked because one of our listeners says he
showed up to his first date with a special surprise
for his lady, and it wasn't your stereotypical flowers with
a box of Plan B.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Maybe you should not be in the plan B is
I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Ales mom didn't use it and she came about but
you know what, where's the roman.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Being prepared?

Speaker 5 (01:30):
Is hot?

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (01:31):
We're going to get to the gifts specifically in a second,
but first, Kyle is the one who emailed us, so
welcome to the show man.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
Hey guys, how are you doing? Man?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
We're giving you all sorts of ideas for your next date.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
I know your gift, Kyle, I'm scared.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
I want to know.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
We do. But first tell us about this lucky lady
that you met. Where did you meet her?

Speaker 6 (01:49):
So? We met online on you know, one of the
ashs Okay, we clicked. I thought she's really hot and
I hope she I think she liked me.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
By the way, did you even catch that in the profile?
Or who cares?

Speaker 6 (02:04):
Her name is Sarah Sara Sarah?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
But what made I mean there's a lot of hot
girls on the dating apps, like what made her stand
out so much that you.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Wanted to bring her a surprise gift him? Is that
it's that easy. Is that right?

Speaker 6 (02:20):
Well, you know, it is like a visual medium. So
I mean she was really pretty. I'll just say it.
She's really pretty.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
By her affection, I see.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I don't know. Is that how it was that? You're
making it seem like weird.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
I care ask them why she stood out. Nobody had
an answer because it's hot.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well that's what dating is.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Broke a lot more.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Just go watch a nineties movie and get your jobs
off there.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Like both parts at the grocery store and then like
I have a whole.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
I just want them to have.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Most people have a connection, That's all I'm saying. Besides,
not in.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
The modern dating world.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
No, they don't truly talked to so many.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Okay, we're getting off track. I'm not going to argue
about this anymore.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
I apologize. She has no idea how modern dating were.
Tell us, how did you know how Sarah bond?

Speaker 6 (03:09):
Well, so we started talking about TV shows, okay, and
I asked her what her favorite show is. She said
she didn't own a TV.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Whoa, whoa, that's wild.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I went through a phase like that.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
No, I get it, no TV.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, but you have eighteen.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
I know it takes that driving a car with my feet.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
No, honestly, like you're a single woman, you're living by yourself,
Like you.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Just watch your shows on your laptop. You don't need
the TV. Is that what it is?

Speaker 6 (03:40):
I guess Well, she her roommate had the TV and
she moved out, and so she just never got another.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Okay laptop?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Yeah, okay, So that's doesn't sound like a lot of
bonding if you were talking about your favorite TV shows
and she doesn't own a TV.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
On their first conversation, you know, so okay, on a whim,
I bought her a TV.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Whoa, oh, so who did you awkwardly carry it into
a restaurant?

Speaker 6 (04:07):
I put it in my car.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
I see, Oh my god, record TVs are not as
expective as.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
They used to people.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
TV How many inches?

Speaker 6 (04:16):
Forty three inches? There was a nice TV. It had
roku Oh wow, smart TV.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Nice time, something like something my parents would say.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
All right, you said it was in the trunk of
your car.

Speaker 6 (04:30):
Yeah, put it in my trunk. So I took it
to the date and I told her, hey, I've got
a surprise for you.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
What There is no way she was expecting that.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Water you get it in front of her?

Speaker 6 (04:41):
Wait?

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Are we at the beginning of the date when you
gave it to her.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
At the end, I pulled up and I showed her
the TV.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
It's amazing. That is so cool. We've ever heard on
TV give on the first.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
D although I have heard of I have heard of
guys being like, hey, I have a surprise for you
in the trunk of my car, and then the story
usually goes totally, usually.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
A shovel and some duct tape.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Wait, what was her reaction?

Speaker 6 (05:02):
Well, she was happy, she screamed. She was like, oh
this is amazing.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Uh oh wow, okay after.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Because then you know if she actually likes you. But
that's you could have also.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Said, would have been like, we could either go back
and try it out on Netflix and chill, or we
can continue our date.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Well, I actually installed it for her too, So you
did go back to her place?

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Really?

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Wait, did you guys go to dinner at all? Or
did you was the TV the whole date at this point.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Wondering, Yeah, we had dinner, Oh you did.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (05:31):
She must have been like so excited to go home
and try out the new TV.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
I don't think, but you know TV NERDST.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
She was excited, he said, she was.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
I mean with the roku probably how did it got
get over that?

Speaker 6 (05:46):
Yeah? I brought it up to her apartment, hunging up
on the wall, and then you know, we watched TV
and I spent the night on the couch and she
went to her room.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Nothing happened, but okay, she invited you to spend the night.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
Right, we were just watching TV and she fell asleep.
She went to go sleep in her bed.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Okay, well she must have just took the couch on you.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
But that's like a good comfort level, Like you meet
somebody on a first day and you allow them not
only to come to your house but to.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Stay the night. That's good, it's good. That's a good
sign that she trusts you.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
So what's happened since then?

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Well, so we hung out one other time, but it
was like kind of short and I don't know, I
was just getting like a weird vibe from her.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Please tell me you did not ask for the TV
back after this all happened.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
We definitely had gotten the show.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Who've been hurt and they've asked for like, oh, well
now I want half of my bill back because she
doesn't want to see me anymore.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
No, No, I'm not that Patty.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
I was thinking she'd say, oh, I had a computer,
but my roommate took it.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Oh yeah, yeah, you opened the world to Netflix and
chill for her?

Speaker 5 (06:48):
Now yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
For or she just chilled by herself.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
True, Well we'll find out when we call her and
see if she even picks up and takes a break
from watching Murders in the apartment or whatever in the building.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I didn't watch it, so but we'll find out what
she's doing.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
That should be the sequel, but for now, we're focused
on our second date update.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
When we come back right after this second date update,
I think.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
All of us have imagined going on to a giant
game show one day, winning and taking home an awesome
prize like a forty three inch smart.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
TV with rogue.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
But a girl named Sarah didn't have to do all
of that. She just had to go on one date
with our listener Kyle, who gifted her a brand new
flat screen just because she'd mentioned.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
She didn't actually showed up. It wasn't even at the end.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Yeah, it's all because her roommate had taken her last
one when she moved out. But after installing it for
her and watching it together, she's been acting a little
bit weird.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Those are Kyle's words, and he doesn't know why.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
They hung out a second time.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
But apparently it was so short that there's not even
a description of the hangout.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, it was like it was that bad.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I don't know what the reasoning is. But we're about
to call Sarah here in a second. But Brook, what
do you think and what are your thoughts before we
reach out to Sarah.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Maybe it was just too much, too quick, because she's like,
she didn't ask for the TV, even though she was
excited about it.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
I didn't think of that. It's different. Too big of
a TV, is what Brookes said.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
You should have gone like a thirty inch maybe one
that at a VHS player in it or something.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
It wasn't even a four case. But Kyle, we're gonna
try our best to do this for you, Okay, all right?

Speaker 6 (08:34):
I really appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Gain Yeah, if she.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Doesn't agree to another date, are you going to be
regretful about the TV gift or do you have a
backup gift just in case.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
That's a good idea. Do you guys have any free
giveaways or anything like that. We don't.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
We're going to give you a gift card at the
end of this.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
There.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
If you want to thank us by giving us a
TV in return, that's up to you. We're not going
to pressure you, but most guests do give us something
as a thank you.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I have four TVs in my trunk right now, not
nice ones.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Or else you would have installed them in your house.
But still, whatever it is, it's up to you. Let's
call Sarah and see if she picks up. Here we go, Hello, Hey,
is this Sarah?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Man, Yes, you may wear a show called Brook and
Jeffrey in the Morning, not a.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
TV show, a radio show. She's really into TV.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Now, Jeff, we're Brook and Jeffrey in the Morning. I'm
Jeff brook and Jeffrey in the Morning. My name is Jeff.
That's the fourth time I've said it.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
She's not gonna know. You don't know. We're a morning
radio show.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Hold on, you want to know the name of our show?

Speaker 5 (09:47):
If I have it, can I help you?

Speaker 6 (09:50):
Sorry?

Speaker 4 (09:50):
You hopefully can help us because we are doing a
segment called a second Date Update and trying to get
some answers for one of our listeners that you met
up with the other night for a hot date to
hot dates.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
I've had several dates. I don't know who you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Oh, I think you'll remember once we say his name.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Yeah Kyle, Oh god, the TV guy. Don't say that?

Speaker 6 (10:15):
Why?

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Why? Why he said that you're super pretty?

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Why is your reaction that way?

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Because, oh my god, that sounds like you have a story.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
And I am dying.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Would you mind sharing a little bit because Kyle is
totally confused. He doesn't know why there hasn't been another hangout.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Is he really Yeah, well he knows the last time
you saw him it didn't go well.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
He must be truly up to Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yes, he's not a cute.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Could you explain a little bit because we're totally in
the dark.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Okay, have y'all ever had somebody buy you a TV
on a first date?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Just like six or seven times? But yeah, just everyone.
Not with Roko.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
He thought you were excited about that, were you not?

Speaker 7 (11:08):
I mean it was thoughtful, but I didn't know that
it was right to come with all these things.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Okay, he's putting it up on the wall. Yeah, okay,
if you call you want the story, you're about to
get the story.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Okay, I'm getting back in my seat.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
We're starting with he's putting the TV up on your wall.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
Yes, And while he's installing and everything, he's like, I'm
really into sports, and I'm like, oh, okay, great and everything.

Speaker 6 (11:35):
That's cool.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Yeah okay.

Speaker 5 (11:38):
So after so set up, he kicks off his shoes
and turns on the game.

Speaker 7 (11:42):
The game?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
What game?

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:44):
He turns Did he ask you if you wanted to
watch it with him?

Speaker 5 (11:48):
No? No, no, noble.

Speaker 7 (11:51):
Yeah, so he's just watching a basketball game and then
he says, hey, can you get some snacks for now?

Speaker 4 (11:59):
That is a maybe maybe the full experience of what
it's like to watch.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
He's doing the test run for you.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
He should be giving her the snacks then.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
And putting her on go home.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
He just feels comfortable with you. He feels like he's
hanging out. He's trying to bond.

Speaker 7 (12:14):
After one day.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Yeah, how did.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
He stay the night then? Because he said he slept
on your couch.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Right, yeah, okay, so he's so geeked up.

Speaker 7 (12:23):
He was like, man, the resolution, like the picture, Oh,
this was a perfect place on the wall. And he's
still watching the game and everything gets a late night game,
and so I was like, well, I'm going to bed.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Well, you didn't kick him out.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Maybe that's like the insinuation like hey, I gotta go
time you.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Know with me?

Speaker 4 (12:42):
No, I like that.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
I think it meant like, maybe you just take the
TV with you.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
At this point, he didn't get the hint.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
No, he did not get the hip I wake up.
He's gotten so comfortable. He done went to the kitchen,
made him a bowl of cereal and is watching a
pick a ball tournament.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
At least he's independent. You know, you hang out with
him again?

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Oh my god? Yeah, he said there was a second hangout.
That was what he said.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
Well, I guess the only time that I saw him
was later on in the day when I got home
from work.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
In my apartment.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
All day he was still there.

Speaker 6 (13:20):
Okay, hold on, hold on, can I can I jump
in here?

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Good time?

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Okay, So, Sarah, you should probably know that that's Kyle.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
He's been waiting on the other line wanting to talk
to you.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Well, actually he's probably in your apartment right from the TV.

Speaker 7 (13:38):
But yeah, are you hitting me?

Speaker 1 (13:40):
He's on the.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Going way too far?

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, Okay, hold on, he's installed your TV up on
the wall for you, So just let's give him a
chance to explain himself.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
I would do that about the TV.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
And yes, yeah, that's that's exactly the problem with the gifts. Actually,
she owes him nothing.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
But but but will you be a good guy that
you should hear out?

Speaker 3 (14:05):
That's totally different than what I said.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
All right, So I brought you dinner and I invited
you to join me, and I'm the bad guy? Is
that so bad?

Speaker 5 (14:14):
You brought pizza knowing I don't eat that. No, you
can't consider me at all. And he fact that you're
in my house all day after I told you I'm
going to bed, I gotta go to work.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
You don't want.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
And I'm gonna put it outside anyway before this blows
up any further. And you guys are arguing about he said,
She said, what is the pizza about?

Speaker 1 (14:38):
You guys went to dinner. I didn't think that you
just brought pizza to her house.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
No, he was still at my house.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Okay, So this is the second night after you guys
hung out the first time, and he brought dinner.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
To till it was evening the next day. What a romantic.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Je sarcastic dude.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
It's like an unwritten rule if you stay the night
at somebody's house, you leave in the morning when they leave.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Okay, but this was the second night. So what's the
rule about the second night?

Speaker 6 (15:08):
Yeah? The rule is you bring pizza.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
That's a good man.

Speaker 5 (15:12):
The rule is that you leave. G Oh, when I
said I gotta go to bed?

Speaker 6 (15:16):
Yeah? Because is it just me? Or does she sounds ungrateful? Right?
I mean I said no TV? I mean, am I crazy?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:26):
I thought yourself a TV.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
I have not heard a thank you one time from
her that I haven't thank you.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
I haven't heard she already thanked you when you gave
it to her.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
She's not thanking me now. She's just complaining that I'm
watching sports. But that's what you do with a TV.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (15:42):
I need you to understand this. It's not your house,
so I'm gonna need you to come and get this TV.
All right, if you want to, I'm putting it outside.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
But I have done with this.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Oh, somebody's inviting you over.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
Yeah that sounds like an invite. Do you want pepperoni?
You want?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
And we are going to provide the gift card for
that pizza?

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Uh, be on the corner, Kyle be.

Speaker 6 (16:08):
On the corner.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
You will not have any access to my apartment.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Okay, so this is not as room. Maybe text the
address of the corner in caseus wants to.

Speaker 6 (16:19):
It's nice TV. You don't put like a free sign
on or anything. When it's out there. I'm gonna come
by it. I'm gonna get it.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Okay, what that sounds like a no? I'm sorry, Kyle,
but I guess we learned a lesson. Never give a
woman a gift on a first date.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Ever. No's just be normal.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
You know what if there's no middle ground, Jeffrey, let's
go with that.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Finally we agree on something. It's brooking Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Brooking Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
We're getting too many no's lately, Brook not getting enough yeses,
and it's starting to make me lose faith in love. No,
je somebody here isn't doing their jobs. It's all un saying.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
It's the guy. He could have just gone home that
night and he would have had another date. It is
not my fault.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Okay, fair, but Brooke, is there any way that maybe
next time we get a guy on the phone who
spends forty eight straight hours at a girl's place in
his underwear watching nothing but sports.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Can you at least try to spin it into a
romantic thing?

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Just try It sounds like marriage.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Is that good?

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I'm just saying in Ireland doing all the heavy lifting
standing up for our listeners, you're throwing them right under
