Speaker 1 (00:01):
Call It What It Is with Jessica Capshaw and Camil Luddington,
an iHeartRadio podcast. Well, Hello, hello, hello.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
And welcome to another episode of Call It What It Is.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
And in this episode you will not just hear from us.
You also have an option.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
To watch us on YouTube. So let's just get into it.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Who lived?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Oh your Gray's anatomy cliffhanger where a lot of people
could die.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Okay, massive, massive spoiler alert. The premieres were last night.
We're like fresh off of watching it and it's the
morning after. And my husband Link survived. He survived, however,
and we're going to get into this.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
He's not out of the woods.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
He's not like it survived like walking around high fiving people.
He's in off shape. But yes, Link survived.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
I was worried about him too. I know that thing
looked heavy, that was on his chest. I knew that
if they tried to take it off, it was gonna bleed,
because you know, I've been crazy too.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
It was a losso a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
You don't remove anything, no, of course, no, no, no, no,
then you got so many bleeders.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Jessica Capshaw, What I Do?
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Nine one one, Nashville, aired last night.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Can I tell you?
Speaker 4 (01:24):
And I sent you this picture so you can tell
them this is absolutely true. I took a picture of
the screen when you walked out in that white outfit.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I screamed.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
I shot a picture of the screen and I text
you and I was like, oh my god. I just
screamed like that's my best friend to Matt, who was
like a foot away from me watching the show.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
It's on. It's spicy.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Ooh, it is very spicy.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
There is so much attention that gets put into the
outfits that that white dress was tailored within an inch
of its legs. Mean, we're gonn Ryan Murphy show people.
There is a tension to details and fashion. The uh
detailed and nipped and tucked white dressed there was there
was a contemplation of every single pair of sunglasses that
(02:07):
could be used. It was hair, it was this, and
then we shot that maybe one of the first days.
It was hot as blazes and it was a real
rodeo that was in town, so we were actually.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
This was the funniest part.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
I'm in this outfit in the aforementioned nip, tucked and detailed,
you know, white.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
You know, I thought it was like, hello, I'm the queen.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Okay, so uh to play off that, that regal outfit
was at the rodeo and we were basically borrowing the
rodeo for you know, the the production value, and so
everybody else was just kind of having some like tortilla
chips and cheese dip.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
While I was in that outfit, I did.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Think, I'll be honest, I thought it was a bold choice.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
I'm like white, but that's that's but you're bold.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
She is she is, she is. She is being described
as I've heard it that.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I've heard it and seen it multiple times, and it's
it's a new term to be She's a bad Evidently,
being a bad bitch is not a pejorative. There's nothing
negative about being bad. If you're a bad, No, she's
a total bad. She's very confident, this lady, this woman
has got it. She's got it on lockdown. She walked
into that rodeo and she was like, I'm here. They're like,
but we're watching the rodeo. They're like, She's like, no, no.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
No, She's like, you're watching me. I am the rodeo.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Can we also talk about I just want to dive in?
Can we just dive straight in. Okay, So I ran home.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
I was filming last night. I ran home.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
I literally flew through the door, took a shower, jumped
on the couch with Matt, and I was like, hey,
it's sad, And then we started watching already.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Can we talk about Leanne Rimes?
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yes, yes, yes, Well do you want to talk about
LeAnn or do you want to talk about Dixie?
Speaker 2 (03:53):
I want to talk about Dixie.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Okay, we can talk about Dixie.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Well, first off, I love that, like episode one, they've
entered deduced this like probably arch Nemesis is how I'm
seeing it.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
The heck.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
You know what's funny about watching the show is the
other day I was watching a movie from like the nineties,
like a kid's move from the nineties, and someone was
smoking in it, and I was like, I don't see
that on TV anymore.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
It's not all loud, and Leanne was smoking in the kitchen.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, well that's yeah, yeah, yeah, that's gonna go. You'll
that'll be a reason forday, yeah, okay, wow, so yeah
yeah yeah, yeah, so many things, so many things, okay, yes, yes, yes,
and yes it's funny because I you know, as a
mother of four and raising kids, and you want to
like give your you want to be a good role model,
and you want to give your kids an idea of
(04:38):
what healthy competition is, and you know, not have life
be a zero sum game or this like cut throat,
you know whatever.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Whatever. Something different came over me.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, I was like, that's not this show.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
No, that's not this show. Something different came over me.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
And when I got to set and started digging into
playing this character, and then Leanne and I started doing
scene and also I started doing scenes with Chris and Michael,
and like the affection for both of them, like you know,
started growing as characters.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
And you're like, you know.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Putting all this stuff together because it's the beginning and
it's exciting and every scene is a new thing.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
My sense of competition.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Got wacky, wild, big, and all of a sudden, I
was finding my I was having conversations.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
I was having to tell Jessica to calm down, take.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
A lot time because I was like, I I.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Will crush her.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Well, you know what, Okay, So we took over some
social media last night. There was a little there was
a little social media rivalry that started last night with
you and Leanne. Yes, Leanne called you out talk about
that that you were a part of and that you
helped me with. Yes you are because the brainchild. So
I worked yesterday. We were actually every.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Single one of us was in the scene yesterday, so
we all got to work together and of course just
talking about the premiere happening. And now we actually know
each other. You know, we're four months into it, so
in the beginning we didn't know each other all, and
now we know each other and looking back on that
work and just it's just wild. So we and Leanne
was there and we have a scene where I mean,
I'm not sure, well, no, it is actually a little
(06:11):
bit of a roller coaster because there are some redeeming
things about Dixie.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Very few, I'm sure there are. She came out the
gate like poffling on that cigarette.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
I know, you gotta do what we gotta do, and
out for me, by the way, Yeah for me, I mean,
let it go, Dixie, let it go.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Twenty five years later, like come on, like.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Really, it's a long time to be holding holding that candle.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Can I tell you a secret? Yeah, I don't want
her to let it go. I wanted to get so dirty.
I want you back in white but mud slinging well.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And there we are in our real lives, you know,
in our in our own personalities, but we do take
our characters seriously.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
And I think that Chris completely enjoys it.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Okay, but can we talk about the social last night
because you guys were working together, but she obviously side by.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
So we said goodbye, and then I truly went straight
from work to the airport so I could be home
for this for the series premiere.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
And she was in her stories and she got a
little Dixie and she was like, I hear Jessica Capshaw
or blythe whatever is doing a Q and A, and
I think I should really be doing the Q and
A because I'll get straight too. I'm a straight shooter
or something like that. And you sent it to me
and you're like.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
I need, you said, because you're because you're actually the bad.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
In my life.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
You're actually the one that knows. So I was like, Camilla,
what's the best?
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Like what do I do? What do I do? Back
for this?
Speaker 1 (07:33):
And she's like, literally, by the way, guys, it's like
she has a computer in her head. Maybe there's more
folds in her brain. Maybe there's just room for more
things there. But within like thirty seconds, you just plucked
out of your brain.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
What did you pluck out?
Speaker 4 (07:48):
I plucked out actually romantic the lyrics from that, and
I thought, like, this is.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
A Swift's news song, actually romantic, which is based on what?
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Which is based? Well, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Well, everyone's saying that it's based on a little bit
of a feudy feud. Yeah, allegedly energy is what I
think you were picking up on a similar an alleged
or maybe make believe, who knows, but it's more fun
for people to believe it actually happened, right, So whatever,
So there's this alleged but maybe real.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yes, that's what alleged means.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
There's this alleged, you know, similarly energetic relationship in these
song lyrics, and so you're like something like that.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
So then we pulled Kyle into it. Kyle, you guys
don't know, like we both he helps us with all this.
If you guys think that we actually edit stuff ourselves,
we would never leave the house.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
No, Kyle is incredible.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
He's the best, he's the best. Take a little.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Smack back, yes, a little smack back, And then I
truly filmed my side of it in.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
The in the airport. Great. Yeah, and then she clapped
back again. She did, yes, Oh you.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Didn't see that, no idea the clopsack.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
So I lip saying, well that you'll have to go look.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
But it's a it's a little uh, you know moment
where I just give her a little you know, I
I introduce a little adjustment.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah, and then she adjusted yes, and then she right back.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
So Dixie and blythe are gonna lit it.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Leanne and Jessica are good to go. Guys, don't worry
about us. We adore each other. We side text, we
side dm It's all good in the in the real life.
Oh yeah, in the fake life, Dixie and Blithey're definitely
gonna go at it. They're just they're just completely different.
And so it's it's been super fun. I mean, some
of the ship that I say to her, and some
of the ship she.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Says to me. I can't wait. Okay, So I watched this.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Is one last thing and it's not a spoiler.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
But you know, when you get really serious and you
know that you're in the middle of like really like
telling someone what like what the what's what? How your
sort of takes to go, you get the cobra, you
get the little like cobra. I have to stop because
that's like I'm I'm cobering.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
All the time.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Every time there's a land scene, all of a sudden,
my neck is on like a different kind of swivel.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
It's like, not Jessica's neck.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
It's like what I mean, my neck can do everything.
It goes all around the cobra.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Well they did, Okay, so you did not have a
scene together this week, but they did tease at the end,
you going up.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
To her and going, stay away from my husband.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Yeah, stay away from my husband.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Can't wait for next week.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
His voice is a little lower two weirdly enough, she gets, yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Okay, things I loved about it? Can I just talk
about it? Because you didn't tell me all.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
The things that happened, And so I was watching it
like everybody else and.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Get all the spoilers.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yeah, I was not expecting that girl on like the
bachelorette party, like with their head and I was like,
oh my god, something's really wrong with her. And then
she let out a fart. You guys, it cracked me out.
I really like shocked me. That was the most shocking
part of the episode for me, what is the budget
(11:02):
for nine one one? By the way, is it like
five trillion dollars? Everything looks so good.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
It looks so good. Well, we start with Kane Brown.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
I know you opened with this massive concert.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
You were not in the scene, but I wondered if
you like did a little like go down there and
watching film.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
No. As a matter of fact, that scene again spoiler alerts,
that scene, by all reports was quite challenging, if not
treacherous to as you can imagine film, because you know,
they start in the sunlight, but then the rain's coming
and then you've got the tornado, you know, oh imminently
going to you know, decimate the entire thing. And it
(11:42):
was really tough for them to shoot. And we were
also at the beginning of the show, so we're learning
about the you know, they're learning about the wardrobe and
the turnouts and things getting wet and things staying wet
and how quick it takes to dry.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
And there's just a lot of technical stuff.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Behind the behind the scenes that they were figuring out
because it was the beginning of the show. But it
looks amazing and I love our one thirty squad.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I mean, how hot.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Are they every single one?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
B My.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
What's weird is that I got sent this picture you
had a premiere party. I got to sent a picture
from my sister in.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Law, who is amazing.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
She lives in Nashville, and it's she goes, Hi, this
is my new best friend, and it's you guys together
because she was at the premiere.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
She's invited to the premiere.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Yeah. And then she texted me later and she was like,
these are the hottest group of firefighters like ever. I know,
I know, I already have a I already have a
favorite fire fighter.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Oh already.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
I loved Roxy, Roxy Roxy. Wannie plays Roxy and she
plays her.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Groups fantastic well. Then Taylor's singing at the beginning, can the.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Musicality right off the bat and her voice, she's a
tried and true Broadway act musical theater actress. Oh that's
whey wasn't hades down but right before this, I mean,
she's incredible, incredible and just I mean, I know it's
you know, it's not supposed to matter the most, but
they just are so beautiful, so beautiful and so drong
and just hall, I mean, they were I got the
(13:03):
goosebumps a lot I got the goosebumps a lot watching.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
It a lot.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
It was so fun.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
And Chris it's like everything is just so real, and Michael,
I mean everyone just I brought it.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Brought it.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
But yes, So to go back to the pedal taber
mom it was one of my favorites because, honestly, you
can imagine that we get our scripts and before you
can actually envision what's going to happen, and it's just
on the page. Some of it is pretty wild, and
you're thinking, how is this how is this going to translate?
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Oh, I can't imagine your scripts.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Yeah, And so when that moment happened, I was actually
so grateful because I was like, I love this show
even more because the show is in on the joke,
like it's it's willing to go to every place, like
it's willing to thrill you with these life for death
circumstances and this impending tornado, and then it's willing to
entertain you with this Cane Brown concert, and then it's
(13:57):
willing to make you laugh because you have drunkarettes that
look like crazy people and they're farting and burping but
almost dying and then getting saved by a stripper.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
So it's like really, but yes, Smoke Show wasn't his name.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Captain Smoke Show.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Captain Smoke Show.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Captain Smoke Show was cast for the show literally like
a day before we started.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Yes, can you tell us a story? Because I was
I remembered it as I was watching it. You said,
you guys were having a hard time finding that role.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Yes, yes, And we were actually there and we were
in pre production and sets were being built in costumes
and everything else, and you know, you're trying not to
get worried, but you know when you start and there's
no there's no blue beddings.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Cast, there's no Smoke Show.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
So and truly he got cast very last minute, like
sort of the crazy like a Cinderella story, like they
found casting, found him and then he went through, you know,
the first reads, and then I think he got flown
out to LA and then he read out there and
then he I mean, and then and then truly, I
think I do believe he got off a plane back
(15:08):
from LA, got the part, and then was at the
cast dinner. We had a dinner for you know, to
sort of like kick off the start of filming, and
I met him there that night, and I swear to
you he looked like someone had like launched him out
of a rocket. I don't even think he actually knew
where he was. I'm not sure that he knew what
(15:29):
was happening.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
That's the way these things are, though. I mean, we
have guest stars flying in. I'm like, well, where are
you from? They're like a New York I came in
an hour ago. Yeah, I'm like, oh, well, welcome to
the set.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
But his first scene was the stripping scene.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
You got No, he's not there, you guys, you need
like you know what though, That's that's how that's how
smoke show he is. He's like, whatever, get off a plane?
Sure less, yes, hell yes, no. He literally got sent
to hair and makeup. I mean, you know, there's some
there's attention to grooming when you're playing a stripper. So
there was a lot of grooming, and then there was
(16:03):
choreography that he had to learn.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
And then bless him, that's what they say in the South,
bless him. He was so game and he just got
up there and he did it.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
And I'm watching it last night, I was like, he
didn't just do it, he did it.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Oh, he did it.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
All good. He was so good.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
There was a little flyaway comment that blythe made kind
of under her breath. You could have missed it, but
I didn't miss it. She said I had my fun too,
or something like that back in the day. And I
was like, oh boy, okay, can you elaborate?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Yes, I can, because it might be my It might
be the thing that I cling to the most when
I think about her.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Which is a jew.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
I might give you the juice. It was always the intention.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
But then all of a sudden, when you put when
you put an actor in a part, and then you
have a show runner and like Rashad, who's just so
open to all the conversations and all the things and
all the feelings, this sort of amazing thing can happen.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
So that was that.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
That line was always written in there, and the story
always has been that. Uh that And what you find
out in this in this first episode is that Dawn
and Blithe are completely in lock sync, lockstep partnership and love. However,
there was this time where they separated, and when they did,
(17:40):
there were some there was some fun being had and
I mean sexually, and so.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
We didn't think it was We didn't think it was Bagminton.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Jess. We got that.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
He was like they took up big ball.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
It wasn't around tennis, bur golf. It was sexual.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
So do you think that life had like a yes
she did.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Yes, they separated and they thought it was over, and
don you know, clearly got fell and fell into Lee
Ellen to.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Dixie's fell into Dixie's.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Fill in the blank, yes, Ellen to Dixie's Dixie. And
then there was a.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Child when her son comes to her, when Black's son
comes to her, like, what's going on? Dad just told
me that I have a brother. And how could you
guys not have told me?
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Which is a valid question, how could you have all
the valid points for him?
Speaker 2 (18:36):
He got hired very quickly at.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
That firehouse, and and he had to be okay with
it very quickly.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Yes, yes, all of it, So I would be racheful.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
And yet Michael plays it so well that you see
everything happening on his.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Face and and and and you're on his side. So
he comes to he could he goes to Dad for
some answers.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
He gets a couple of them, but then you know,
as one does, you go you go to mom. And
so he comes to and says, like what in the
actual happened and how do you know?
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Well, he really.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Comes to say Dad betrayed us, and she said, no,
he would never do that.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
And then he's like, what do you mean?
Speaker 1 (19:14):
And when she says, I had my fun too, it
was it's I think it's a really important part of
her because this is not a woman that I mean
and listen, every story is valid, but this it's not
her story. She didn't get cheated on and then learn
how to accept the betrayal or learn how to accept
this you know, moment and then and then move on.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
She it was a clean It was like, if there's
a way.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
To have a clean uh, I don't know what you'd
call it.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
I mean, none of it's clean. Also, by the way,
it's all gets very.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Very you were on the break, you were on the brake, Yeah,
you're on a RK.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Well, I guess they each had something to forgive each
other for. Is the point?
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Right? Like it was clean in that way, so they
each and then they and then they rebuild from there.
But I think it was a very important part of
who I see her to be and who I am
playing her to be, which is that there is a
lot of power in her in her column.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yes, and the horses and that was Michael and I
seen by the stables.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Was that the very first scene, that walk and talk
by the stables?
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Yeah, so beautiful Nashville, Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Wait, hang on, I have to know, because there's like
this aerial shot of like all these huge houses and
I was like picking out my house.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Yeah, that one looks good.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
That's in Franklin.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Oh Franklin where there's just grass for days and everything else. Yeah,
and the most beautiful, beautiful stables. Yes, because blithe is
in is in racehorses. She's in the business of racehorses
and going to auction and picking the best ones for
the next season.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Of horse racing.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
And then that day, which again was also really hot,
and I'm wearing a lot of clothing. Yeah, you are
wool interestingly enough, well, Ralph Lauren chic, Yes, it was,
it is. That was our very first day of filming ever.
Michael and I.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
You know what's really funny is that's a long scene.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
But I also told Matt I turned him and I said,
so far that's my favorite scene in the episode.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Oh well, that's because you know, because you're my VESTI No.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
I know, ne no, but it was like it was
just like a moment of like, I don't know, there
was something about the connection between you guys as actors,
because you can't create that sort of chemistry. There's already
that like loving chemistry. And then when you drop that line,
it was like ooh, little juicy easter egg. Yes, there's
going to be more. There's going to be more.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Yeah. So we started that and the second day.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Was was the boys coming back from the rodeo and
and all that.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
I have a question, Yeah, you are not a Matt
said this to me. He was like, she is so
lucky she's not a firefighter.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
They hear it every day.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Yeah, they are out in the mud and all of
that stuff talking to them. Is there any part of
the actors where they're already like, dear God help me,
Like when you're at dinner, you're a couple of cocktails
in They're like, this.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
Is this is gonna be tough?
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Yes, it is tough. It is tough. It's hard. It
looks really gear is heavy.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
The the I mean, the action sequences are so involved
and intricate, and they they they absolutely need everyone's full attention.
We have incredible stunt people on set every time that
we're they're doing them. So it's it's it's incredibly it's
it's tough, it's really tough.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
And the it's a lot. I mean even just.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
The I've only put them on for play or for
social media. The the turnouts, like what they wear.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Is heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy heavy.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
But I just got the goosebumps so many times, and
I just I love the I really do a little cheesy,
really feels like they're heroes, every single one of them
as they march in like little ants. When you see
them from far away or in uniform, or there's this
like goose bumpy like they're the heroes coming in and
they're gonna save They're gonna do everything that they can
(23:17):
to save whoever they can.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
And there's just something so.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Bold and aspirational and awesome about that.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Okay, this way, hang on, I have a controversial question
for you now.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Oh yeah, what's hotter to you? Oh God?
Speaker 1 (23:35):
A doctor in the white coat or a firefighter? I
think they appeal to different parts of me?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Are you interesting?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Okay? Okay, I'm just trying to figure out what a
doctor and I think a doctor and a firefighter are
very different types.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
I know.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
But like, esthetically, if Matt came home like he's coming
through the door like it and he's an a white coat,
I'm like, whatever, go change, it's gross you've been in surgery.
But if he's like coming through the door in like
a firefight, I'm like, hello, smoke show.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Okay, okay, I see this. So, by the way, that
seems like maybe a great segue into wow, you might
need to come beyond my show to be around all
the incredibly you know, hot firefighters. And yes, I think
now we need to go back to my love and
(24:27):
affection for all those incredible white coats at Grace Sloan.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
We premiered last night.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
You premiered last night, So I was, what's it like
to premiere with such a cliffhanger?
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Pretty bonkers.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
I had a lot of people asking me online and
all answer here on call of what it is whether
I knew that Link was going to survive and whether
I knew that Monica was going to die. And the
truth is is that at some point in the summer
I'd had a conversation with my showrunner. I was and
I said to her, the only thing I want to
(25:04):
know is just is Joe gonna be raising five hundred
children by herself? Is she widowed like forty eight hours
after this wedding. And they were like, no, he's going
to survive, but it's gonna be rough. So then I
was very happy. But I heard rumors and schmummers that
someone was going to die, which is why I had asked.
(25:24):
And sometimes these rumors and schummers, you know, they end
up being something.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
And sometimes if anyone's.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Going to find out if a rumor is a schmummer
or if it's a real rumor, or if it's a truer,
I'm gonna made that one up.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
It's true, it's you.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Well, you're gonna find it, you sniff it.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
I did not know that Monica was going to die
until I got the script and I was flicking through
and I was like, oh, no, one's gonna die, because
it looked like she was fine.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Yes it did spoiler alert. Looked like she was finding
the entire episode so smart.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
And then I was watching Can I tell you Adelaide?
I watched we had a like lunchtime. I was on
site yesterday.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
We had a lunchtime like viewing Adelaide.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
How you can't watch it.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
We watched it.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Addie was next to me and I said. I turned
to her and I said, you are incredible in this episode.
Her and Monica, those scenes when she's like, you're too
late when they walk in was amazing. But can I
tell you the very first scene I filmed when I
was back, and this happens to me every season, is
this scene where I first scene that you see her
(26:28):
where she comes in and she talks to Richard and
she says, do you know where link is? And then
she's sitting with Richard the whole time and then the
phone call happens. That all happened in one day of shooting,
right and I before they yelled action, I was standing
for the first shot. I was standing backstage and I
was like, do I know how to play Joe Wilson?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Like?
Speaker 4 (26:48):
I was like, it had felt like a year to me,
and I'm like, I got scared.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
I was like do I Like, do I know how
to be her again?
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Like?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
What does she feel like?
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Yeah, one, you've got the belly.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
I got the bell. Yeah, I got the belly. And
I was in the same clothes from last season.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
I felt like a little disconnected from it. Had been
so long, and I'd even watched the episode before and
then when I stepped out, and then I had that
first line with Jim Pickens, who plays Richard. There's something
about that man that just like exudes like you're a
Gracelam memorial y Y's welcome, Welcome, and it's like instantly,
I was like, okay, I got it still, But I
(27:26):
literally had like I was very nervous that day.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
The scene that you first when you first come in.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yes, I had like first yea that played very well?
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Yeah, well yeah, well maybe it.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Did play well. But I was like, I literally had a.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
Moment where I was like, do I remember this? I'm
not feeling her in my body. And it wasn't until
he spoke to me that I was like, oh, I okay,
she's back. But I I was like, oh my god,
maybe I'm gonna like this. Am I a terrible actor?
Speaker 3 (27:52):
No?
Speaker 1 (27:52):
But but it worked because you're coming in not knowing anything,
and you don't know you don't know what's happened, and
everybody the whole episode is trying to keep information about
who's in peril and who's not and that all these
and the way that Grace does have all these different
side stories of all the things that are happening.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Okay, so how did you get to shoot in order
or now?
Speaker 4 (28:13):
Absolutely not, Yeah, it's never in order, and I did not,
So I didn't see any of that link footage, right,
Like I'd never seen that before, and so like, I
found that very shocking actually to see it, because by
the time I saw Chris in real life filming, he'd
been patched up, Like I didn't even see this part
(28:34):
of him ever.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
So watching it last night, I was like, Hey, that's
a lot of blood. Yeah, oh a blood from my husband.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
No, I know, it's a lot of blood. A lot
of blood with Linda Klein, one of the extras on show.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Guys, Linda Klein was on the floor, and it's so
funny people have been watching the show for so long
they knew that was Linda on the floor. She was
like in part of you guys, this as one of
our producers who now plays you know, she plays nurse
Linda on the show. I think she's spoken like two
lines on the show, maybe more, but like the entire time,
and she's been there since like probably day one.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Idould end up with like bokey status.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
I think that she's Bokey status.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Yeah, Boky the scrab nurse from like from the very
beginning season one.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Can I tell you what happened yesterday?
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Though?
Speaker 4 (29:34):
On My Socials h okay, So ABC every year they
will call somebody, email somebody and say, hey, do you
want to take over the premiere? We'd love for you
to take over the premiere. So they asked me to
take over the premiere. We have this idea with ABC, like,
let's make this whole thing to the Let's make this
(29:54):
whole music video to the song twenty two because it's
our twenty second season. Let's post it as part of
my takeover, which you saw. Thank God last night, I.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Said, when can I jump in and talk about how
I feel like it should? Okay, it's possible for it
to win an Emmy. I'd like for it to win
an Emmy.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Thank you. I agree.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
It's amazing.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
What we ran into yesterday that we didn't think of though,
is that we needed approval from Taylor to post it.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Really, yes, yes we did.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
It's not just like on Instagram where you could just
add the song because it's technically going to I was
thinking in terms of it going to my account, which
would would have been five. But if it goes to
ABC's account, then things are different. Yes, it's just very different.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Right. So it was down to the wire of.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
Not being able to post that and them literally sending
it to Taylor's team and being like, can you watch this?
Can you approve this universal music?
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Like it was?
Speaker 4 (30:52):
And literally we're supposed to post at twelve and I
think at like twelve oh to the papers were signed
for us to post. Did So that's my little behind
the scenes of posting that because I was like, it's
never going to see the light of day, Like it's
not going to happen in time, like or maybe they'll
say no, but I was.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Like, I was like, this has to be seen by
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
If that had not been able to come out into
the world, I would have I don't know what I
would have done.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
It was so fun too.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
I would have gone rogue. I would have found a
way to get that out into the light. You'd have leaked,
it would have stolen, stole. I would have had a
lawsuit on my hands.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Yeah, whatever, whatever.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
We know.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
We know the creator. She's kind, she's kind. Speaking of
her really quickly, just a little sidebar.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Hmm, should we sidebar?
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Well, is there anything that you would like to tell us?
Speaker 3 (31:38):
What happened? Well, you know, Taylor's album came out.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Mm hmmm, I'm aware, of course. You know, all all
of my girls knew the lyrics, right. I mean, I
honestly think they just like downloaded them into their brain.
I'm not even sure, Like they only listened to it
once and they're like, they know every single lyric. And
we had a little road trip over the weekend, so
we were in the car a lot, so I definitely
got a lot of it in my head, and she.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Was top of mind.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Anyways, we come home and we'd driven into my brother's
wedding and drive back and we go by where the
boxes come and I see a cardboard box and it
says from Nashville, Tennessee. And I was like to Jessica
and I was like, hmmm, I don't I didn't order
anything from Nashville.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
What is this? This is so strange.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
And then I looked at where it was from and
it said t S. I'm like, I did not order
anything from t S. I don't know what this is.
I was actually annoyed a little bit, a little irritated, likeugh,
with this box, I'm probably gonna have to return something whatever.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Yeah, I got to buy accident, so.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
I bring it in and then I go to get
it out of the car and all the synapses are
firing and things are starting to make sense in my brain.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
It's like the beautiful mind, and I'm.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Like tea tes Taylor Taylor Swift, Nashville, Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Taylor Taylor Swift, Tennis. Did Taylor Swift send me a box?
Speaker 2 (32:53):
I cannot, And.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Of course I'm not envisioning anyone that helps Taylor Swift
in her life send me a box. I'm envisioning her
going to the ups store that I.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Go, yeah, you know, on twelfth South and Nashville, Tennessee,
and sending me this box. She's done that.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
She's like got the tape out the tape line obviously,
and there's a lot of college students on that one,
so it's really probably too.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
She had to talk to people. It was a thing.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Anyways, I say to my girls, I think we have
something to open together. And then as soon as we
got out the scissors, I was like, I started doubting myself,
doubt crypt in. I was like, who do I think,
I am this is not a box from Taylor Swift
in Nashville, Tennessee, and.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
My girls are going to be opening up like I
don't even know.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
I don't even know it's in this box like a
pair of shoes. It's going to be a pair of
shoes from down has tennis shoes. The ts is tennis shoe.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
And it's just one some nighttime shopping banje I've gone, yeah,
so doubt creeps in.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
I don't let it take hold. The girls open it up.
I see the color of the wrapping of the of
the you know.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
The the tissue paper, and I'm like, nope, I know
what this wait wait, wait, wait, wait, hang on with
was the tissue paper orange or that teal orange?
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (34:12):
You know.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
So they open it up and there is the most
glorious note from Taylor.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
What did it say?
Speaker 3 (34:23):
It said, honestly, I obviously have it. I might need
to frame it.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Is it not already in a frame? Are you kidding?
What have you been doing with your life?
Speaker 3 (34:36):
I've had a couple of things to do this week.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Anyways, it was a very beautiful note and it was
announcing the arrival of this album, and then underneath it
was the real.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Boring, hang on, noe boring, take it back.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
I zoom on thee.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
The eyes zoomed in on the note, and the note
literally said, oh, because I took a video of the
girl's opening it. Yeah, so I yes, she sent me
the video. So I zoomed in because I'm nosy.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
I told you if you want something found out, she'll
get it found out. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
And it said, if you're receiving this, it means that
you are someone that is important to me.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
I will just stop there. We've said enough, and so
I think that you're I. Yes, you can say what
else is in there?
Speaker 4 (35:21):
But I think this means the next package you receive
as an invite to the wedding, like you're going to
open it like in Bridesmaids and like the butterflies come out.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Yes, oh my god, Jessica. Literally my RSVP.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Would be double yes if you could.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
If you could, I would just make copies of the
invitation so I could keep sending yeses.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
Yeah, oh my god. I just gave myself chills.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
You did, you gave me a little sweat.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
What was in the package?
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (35:50):
And the packages the album and then her beautiful note
and then this super cute sweatshirt that I decided to
wear today.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
I finally see a book for our inaugural YouTube, I
can say here s an It says the Life of
a Showgirl. Yeah it is, Yeah it does. And then
it says ts on the sleeve, Oh love.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
And it's really You know, when you get a new
sweatshirt and they're super soft inside, I don't ever want
to wash it.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
It's just soft inside.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
You're not gonna wash and you're not taking it off.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
That's a big warm hung from Taylor, big warm hug
from Taylor. And you know what. I love the album.
I love every single song. I'm starting to get I'm
starting to feel a little.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
Self conscious because of how much I listened to it.
Sure have you learned the dance?
Speaker 3 (36:31):
I know?
Speaker 4 (36:32):
You know me.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
I'm not so great at the dance.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Oh my god, I've learned the dance. Me and me
and Hades Hayden in the couch.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
You already know it. I know Feelia that way, I
know it.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Don't worry about it's not a bag.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
I also like, but listen, I like a lot of
the tracks that aren't people aren't talking about. I think,
like right away, I love. We're in a relationship, We're
in a friendship.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
We're in a friendship.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Ruin the friendship.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Yeah, that's what it's called. Ruin the friendship.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
I love Jessica. I love Cancel.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
I love Canceled. I love Wood. I feel weird saying that,
but I I'm saying yeah, I too.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
I think she loves Wood too.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
I love that song Wood. I love that song called Wood.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
I love Travis Kelsey talking about that on New Heights.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
By the way, his face talking about Wood on New
Heights is like my favorite thing.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
I love life as a show girl. I could listen
to that on repeat.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Not do you have to feel like on our premiere
night that that was kind of the vibe life of
a showgirl. Yes, yes, I wasn't in like any glam
but I felt glamy.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
And I like the empowerment of it, which is like
there's there's a maybe an old idea that there's something
that you kind of like use and abuse and like
then then the show girl gets discarded. And as I
interpret it with Taylor and Sabrina and just sort of
this moment that I think we're all stepping into of
empowerment and aliens and Grit is like, no, we're show
(38:04):
girls and the show must what go on?
Speaker 3 (38:07):
That's right?
Speaker 4 (38:08):
And I tell you, when I hear Sabrina's voice on that,
it's so like, it's just incredible. It brings me back
though to when I went to go see Taylor in
New Orleans and I was on the plane, like we
were boarding the plane. I was born with a bunch
of swifties. I had seen her the same night as me,
and they were all getting notifications on their phone in
(38:29):
real time the Sabrina had just showed up on stage
the night that we were flying back, right like we
had just seen it.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Everyone was like, we miss Sabrina.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
They're all taking their seats, like, no, that would be
a lot, that would feel like a loss a little
mini live would I know?
Speaker 2 (38:45):
But you know what the next tour, she's got to
come on for show Girl.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
Yes, oh for sure.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Now you're coming on. And now we're going and we're
going in the wedding and I'm your date towel because
guess what. Guess who didn't get a box?
Speaker 4 (39:03):
Me?
Speaker 2 (39:04):
I when you got your box, I went out to
my little letter box for a box.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
It was like I was like, man, I've got to
excuse me for a second. There's a box outside for me.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
Yeah, nothing, you got nothing? Nothing? Oh my gosh. Okay,
so do you want to just really because we can't.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
We let Taylor, you know, really, I mean, as she should,
but we really did let her hone in on the
Grays the Grays talk.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
I think that, like, here's what I'm gonna say. I
everyone the premiere was incredible. I thought everyone was excellent.
But I think that I was thinking about a character
storyline that will a little teaser for going into this season.
What is a character storyline that will shock people this season?
I think Joe's.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
I wasn't expecting that.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
I know, I know, and I really thought hard about it.
But when I'm filming right now.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Are the twins gonna be? Your face is see? We
can see you now, they can see you now, And so.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Now I know this is bad.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Actually this is bad because now you can see every
expression is gonna give more away if you watch us.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Yeah, I almost feel like I shouldn't ask any more
questions because I don't want to.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
I don't want to know.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
As the season goes on, you guys, we are gonna
be breaking down Nie on one. We are going to
be breaking down grades now, and we have to have
leanne On come.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
In a in a nanosecond. She's so much fun, so talented,
So I love working with her.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
We love coming up with these ways to be sort
of like spicy nasty to each other at the same
time that we keep it very human and and and
and real, and I mean, who doesn't love you know,
a modern cat fight right where there's like two fully
actualized women coming into a space where they can argue
(40:59):
and they can try and one up each other, and
you know, it's it's it's really good. I have to
say the scenes that Leanne's in, even if we're just
in the same room, I feel like a certain kind
of like clench, Yeah, I clenched.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
The tush just a little tighter.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, a little.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
We gotta tell her that I don't know, we got
to ask her is her tush clench and I don't know,
I don't She'll let us know.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
She'll let us know.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
Don't ask for thee will be like, you know, normally
you take off your if you're wearing high heels in
the scene, which blythe always is, you'll take off your
high heels in between when you can just put on
a pair of you know, like slippers or whatever. And

Blye keeps her eigh heels on all the time, constant clenched,
constant high heel. She's ready, she's got to be real
(41:46):
common off. You gotta rip them off her body.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
That's exactly right. Well, if she leaves them somewhere, she
might take them. Dixie might swipe.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Them, sowip the husband.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
She swiped the hosband.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Doesn't even just say I'm gonna make you mad. I
think it's a perfect spot.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
I'm too happy. I'm too happy, and I feel like
this is a good time. Let's call it the end
of the episode.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
