(02:40):
twenty seventh to thirtieth eighth October October ninth, Folks, When

off to you because this right here is doing it.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
I made the website myself.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
And it's the information that I want to see as
a fan, and I want to see this as my
young artists. If I'm running the label, going this is
your hot commodity right now. So you what got you
in this?
Speaker 6 (03:14):
Dog?
Speaker 4 (03:14):
How'd you come around? Because you got flavor? How did
it come about? You got your record label, you got
an artist with you, you're doing your thing. Where's it
start from?
Speaker 7 (03:21):
You?
Speaker 6 (03:21):
For sure?
Speaker 8 (03:22):
So back in twenty sixteen, and I mean, I guess
to start. I've always had a passion for music. Honestly,
it's always.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Been seting up a little bit right here for sure.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
My bad.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
That's great.
Speaker 8 (03:31):
Yeah, I've always had a passion for music. It's always
been something that's been a part of my life. So
around twenty sixteen, I hopped in the studio, I made
a song.
Speaker 6 (03:39):
I did pretty big numbers.
Speaker 8 (03:41):
I promoted it all around my neighborhood, all around my county.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
And where was that at?
Speaker 8 (03:45):
Fairfax County in the Bay, northern Virginia, Virginia, Virginia, Fairfact Okay, yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:50):
So right outside of DC. Okay, yeah, so.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
That where your boy's from.
Speaker 6 (03:54):
Yeah, I both grew up, went to school together.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Welcome to LA.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
Appreciate it. Yeah so, and.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Before you know, Chef of Paula is also with us today,
your boy, Chef of Paula, welcome as well.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
But thank you, thank you, no doubt, no doubt, So
continue please.
Speaker 8 (04:06):
But yeah, I made this song Chasing Dreams dropped. The
music video did like fifty thousand the first week, and
then I was on like ABC seven, Fox News. Just
a ton of DC outlets like that started doing the show.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Why aren't you hashtagging your dog right here?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Bro?
Speaker 6 (04:22):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (04:22):
Bro?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Can I get a hashtag?
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Can I sign it? Come on? Look it on?
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Man, get a.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Continue. Let me hear about the boat, I mean yeah,
come on, let me back to your story.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Well, how do you get so many downloads that quick?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
That's so good for you, man, s, I mean, we
just pushed it.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
Around in the neighborhood. Do you feel me push it around? Uh?
Everyone that lived near me, you.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Know, not just push it out fifty thousand here, fifty
thousand there.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
You know what I mean, you got a group of people,
you feel me?
Speaker 8 (04:55):
I had a nice uh group of people around me
that were supporting me, that help pushed all.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
My music out. So it was just all blessing in
disguise all at once.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
It's funny for us, like man, I look at major
radio shows and and it's it's different because I mean,
we've got we've got a good phone, we've got our niche.
You know, we we we have our market, you know.
But but when you look at like even some of
the biggest radio shows in the world, some of the
biggest broadcasters in the world, you know, their followings aren't
as big. But we have a different microphone, right our microphones. Radio,
(05:25):
it's it's podcasts, it's it's just it's cannabis base.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
It's different.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
And so you know, for an artist though, it's your
it's your age. How old are you probably twenty one, yeah,
twenty one years old. How many followers do you have
right now? Just on Instagram?
Speaker 6 (05:39):
I think I just touch a million.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Just touched a million.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Let's give that around a little, just just touch Hey,
it ain't easy to touch a million, no matter who
you are, right, what's the big number you look looking for?
Speaker 6 (05:55):
So honestly, we're trying to just run it to the top.
There's no stop.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I like that. I like it. What's the name of
the number? The single you got right now? What are
you working on?
Speaker 6 (06:02):
It's called Sweet Lives.
Speaker 8 (06:03):
It's an EP I just dropped with two songs, break
Too Hard, Always Wrong. They just did one hundred and
ten thousand on Spotify in the week, and then we
also rang it up on all the other platforms. I
think it hit like two fifteen thousand total.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
So yeah, but is Oh you on this song? Or
who is it on the song?
Speaker 8 (06:20):
I did a collab with another rapper, DJ so he Lej. Yeah,
he's another rapper from my hometown. Actually, he grew up
like twenty minutes from me. So everyone that I work with,
everyone that I've been coming up with, is all from
around where I'm from.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
I love that. That's when you know that good local artist.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
I love hearing stories like that because when you hear
about cats like that coming up in your age group.
That's what it's about, coming together from the same area,
the same sound, the same story, the same hoods.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Looks like we can relate.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
And if it was my first time ever ever hearing
anything you've ever done, which I did get to see
at kush Stock as well, and you know, I was impressed,
you know what I mean, Like I really I was.
I heard it, and I'm like, man, it was dope,
Like you did a great job, you know, and and
and it's it's it's there was probably other than you know,
the headliner, right, because everybody knows like what like I
(07:09):
think it was Soldier Boy was performed, right, So if
you know or exhibit perform though, you.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Know, there was some big acts there at that event, right.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
But what I look at is when you hear those performers,
you're like, you're just used to them crushing a song,
you know what I mean, they walk.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Out there, it's just acts.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Every time I come around, I mean, it's it's it's
an anthem, the songs crushed.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
It's easy.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
And then you see a lot of you know, coming
up acts that you know sometimes have their their vocals tight,
but not very many people deliver as well as you did.
And I thought that was great. You know watching you
you know you you got that record? Yeah, can we
play it? Can I want to hear it.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Let's let's play that record.
Speaker 10 (07:46):
Let's play you got it.
Speaker 11 (08:00):
Keep hold ain't on to us, Scoob broke me down,
but keep old.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
Know to us, don't know I tied.
Speaker 12 (08:11):
Might be the ways to tell me that, mister beginning.
Speaker 13 (08:15):
This is on my phone, don't know while you gotta
show me.
Speaker 8 (08:19):
I was that up.
Speaker 7 (08:21):
I'll see you with your other man. I say that
pussy kid, the fuck kid really getting money only flexing
the box when I met you while I was planning,
didn't nobody was up, just another one.
Speaker 9 (08:31):
On the board.
Speaker 7 (08:31):
I see the money to get up.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Sell five were the bus five with the go ga.
Speaker 7 (08:36):
Thought it was real. When you're waiting on my shoulder,
my wrist, she bust it down, like mister first, he's
trying to go just a million.
Speaker 10 (08:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (08:42):
There every night another clothes guy from the East Side.
We call it the B Side trade at the.
Speaker 8 (08:48):
D n B.
Speaker 7 (08:48):
There ain't no peace with be slash and the ain't
know our reside under the influenced floors. Then if we're
talking about that money, I in fluid, don't talk my
bus and keep your hands up on my risk on
my risks because the roses that get talking on the
slash could be slapping. Let me in the game. I
know this strict turn.
Speaker 8 (09:04):
I got to cry.
Speaker 7 (09:05):
I ain't even trying to keep the.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Bag and keep pold ain't on too.
Speaker 11 (09:10):
A scub broke me down, but I keep od ain't
on too.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
I don't know, I try.
Speaker 12 (09:19):
It might be the way you used to tell me that,
mister Beginning, this is on my fall.
Speaker 13 (09:25):
Don't know why you gotta show me out? Did that
I'm always wrong?
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (10:15):
Keep old and onto a skew broke me down, but
I keep old and up to us.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
I don't know, I try.
Speaker 12 (10:27):
Might be the way you used to tell me that,
mister Beginning, this is on my phone.
Speaker 13 (10:32):
Don't know why you gotta show me out? Think that
I'm always wrong? You think that I'm always wrong? You
think that I'm always wrong?
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Oh my god, God, seriously, wow.
Speaker 6 (10:57):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
No shut out, no, no jack, all bulls aside jack
like the lyrics in there.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Right.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
First off, dude, when when Blue told me like you
were coming in and then I remember seeing you at Cushed.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Off right, like I was like, I feel like you did.
Speaker 10 (11:13):
Like all.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
I'm kind of I'm like, I'm all bullshes, I'm actually
this much jelly because you found like honestly, I like
and I like claiming it and he found you first,
and I hated it for me, for us, and it
is only for us. I feel mad that, yeah, he
showed you, because I wish I would have showed him.
You know, we we have claims, right like you're gonna
be his son, but you're gonna be my uncle, my
(11:36):
my nephew.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
You know what I'm saying. I'm so proud. But my
point is it was amazing. It was a fuck.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
No no, seriously, it's a hit though, and not only
ready for why I'm seeing to hit. The d m
V is crushing it right now, folks. For those who
don't know, and let me tell you why. And when
I say the DMV, y'all gonna know what I'm gonna
say right now because you already know you're from there, Apple,
You already know what I'm going to.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
You already know where I'm going because you fucking lived there.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
And I'm so hip now to DMV because I watched
the show for those who are listening to what is
Joe talking about? There's a show on Apple that O'Shea
Jackson's son is a part of Who's the head coach
of a TV show that's based out of the DMV.
The DMV is getting a lot of fucking national recognition
right now for some talented everything.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
It's the DMV.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
What is the DMV, guys, d C Mail in Virginia. There,
it is a DMV.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Yes, and if you don't know, it's make a lot
of noise in the world in my opinion right major
TV shows on major platforms on uh, even Netflix is
doing shows on the DMV.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
So you guys, coming out right now is perfect fucking timing.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
Not only coming out perfect time, but with a hit sound.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
Dog, you got appreciate, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
And now what I've seen you on stage and now
hearing this, I'm gonna throw what you're sure you've heard?
You're the JIT next JT. Bottom line, I mean me
and not Bieber. You're the next JT.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
Bieber's dope, dude, don't get it twisted.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
But you know I mean JT is.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
I've seen you on stage rocking day JT.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I mean it. Call it what you are he got
something different?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
I'm sure maybe, but either way it's not a no
you cut it out.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
So so look, man, I really you know, like I said,
I when I see the music and I've heard the music,
and then, like I said, you've got a million on Instagram?
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Right, what about Facebook? YouTube? All that trending as well?
Speaker 6 (13:23):
For sure?
Speaker 8 (13:24):
Yeah, I have a ton of views on YouTube, ton
of views on Spotify, hell of streams. Just hit at
one point one million on another song.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
And not even a hashtag of plug or how about this?
How about the remix?
Speaker 4 (13:35):
And then you can cannabis talk one on one in that,
you know, since we can play it in here.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
When you start doing it, we got a plug. I'm
trying to get a sense of plug. No shout out
of this.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
You know what I like, though, is forget all that,
you know what I mean, What I what I really
like those dog is seeing, is seeing the way that
you you know you did that on stage because again
before I had never even you know, heard of you,
to be honest with you, And and you know I'm
involved in cush Stock. You know, I'm involved in a
lot of festivals and events throughout the world. You know,
I'm blessed to do it for a lot of years.
(14:06):
And and so when we start to to hear artists
and we see people, you know, and we move around
in stages, we move around it backstages all my life.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Like that's my world, you know what I mean. I'm
you know, we've got uh, you know, the parties and
we're kids. It's part you're doing the same thing. How
about that, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (14:24):
And we're still doing it now and and and I
and so I recognize talent when I see it out there,
and I'm like, oh, this kid's on one. And I
was sitting on our tour bus. I don't know if
you've seen our tour bus up, but we were sitting
there in the tour bus, and I had like a
bird's eye view of all the artists. And and I
was watching artists and I was like, oh, boo boo,
you know, like, and I was just.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Being funny, like I was in my head judgement. That
was in my head. It wasn't even too the I
wasn't saying that out loud.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
I wasn't just in anybody and anybody's you know, in
anybody's you know moment. I was in my head going gosh,
they're they're up there and they're not nailing it, you know.
And then all of a sudden, I heard your records
and as I'm looking over you, and I'm like all
these kids in the.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Pocket walking the crowd, moving to the crowd, like getting
them going, and I'm like me.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Who is this kid?
Speaker 5 (15:07):
I swear to god, I said the same thing. I
didn't know he.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Worried that, but I looked up on who is this
kid giving the energy? Performing actually like a performer has
been missing.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
We went right on the stage. We were like free
gas everyone.
Speaker 8 (15:20):
We had a company called Chuffles come out. They gave
me like a ton of free gas. We were just
throwing we about like a huge like raws, like inflatable jay.
Speaker 6 (15:28):
We threw that off to the crowd.
Speaker 8 (15:30):
So we'll grab that, you know, just getting people interacted,
getting people happy, celebrated, just in the moment, feeling good.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
You know.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Let's talk about that when we come back. It's Cannabis
Talking one on one. We'll be right back after this break.
Speaker 1 (15:41):

Speaker 3 (16:21):

Speaker 4 (16:23):
He gave me a pair of dime trunks to wear
at the beach, and I wore them.
Speaker 3 (16:27):

Speaker 4 (16:29):
I rocked dime swim trunks at the beach. Yeah, my
sense whatever thing and it was at the beach.
Speaker 3 (16:35):

Speaker 5 (16:35):

Speaker 6 (16:59):

Speaker 4 (17:01):
Who I really love is jackhashtour dot com because those

so happy that Blue and you're here with us today.
I can't wait to hear Chef Apaulo's music as you
are now starting this hash record. But go into more
(17:22):
detail of you and being discovered, because you don't just
get a million fucking followers by singing enough for sure.
Speaker 8 (17:28):
Yeah, so I guess from where I was talking. So
from there, I kind of just sat back, looked at
everything as a whole. I was doing a lot of
shows and stuff. I started hiring people from my team.
I guess you could say. And I did a lot
of stuff independently, So I just found a pr eg
and stuff like that.
Speaker 6 (17:47):
I booked a lot of shows. I did a show
actually for.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
The I Forget, but it was a show in Miami
and it was with Austin Mahone and Jack and Jack
and it was with the iHeart radio station down there.
And then I ended up linking with Elvis Durant, a.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Big morning show.
Speaker 10 (18:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
He's one of the bigger morning show guys in the Yeah.
Speaker 6 (18:08):
For the show.
Speaker 8 (18:08):
Yeah, So I was on his show like two weeks,
two weeks after that, and then like.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
That's major, that's Elvis Drangle's national for show.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (18:16):
So like I established a really good like connection with
Elvis Durant two uh ship, like everyone had a studios Yeah,
shout out to Elvis Durant for real. And then he
had me on a few times, like played my music
for a while, honestly, so that.
Speaker 6 (18:30):
Helped me a ton.
Speaker 8 (18:32):
I'm pretty sure it was like on a ton of
stations to not just New York, like he has nationally
over Yeah for show.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
He's one of the bigger iHeart kits him. Ryan Seacrist,
big boy, Like those are the three big ones. Yeah,
I'm big and him cannabis talking.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
Well, that's yeah, of course number one.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
We're still were the number one cannabis and we're the
first one to partner with I art with cannabis.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
That is true.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
That's so, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
And I can't even get a fucking hashtag.
Speaker 6 (19:00):
Shout out to cannabis.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Top heard Elvis Dan gave me that plug, which is
a big plug. Yeah, it helps you out big to that.
I'm sure you've seen a lot of followers come from
after that.
Speaker 8 (19:12):
Oh yeah, for I was in a deaf Jam's office
the next morning for show right up in Universal uh,
doing a ton of more interviews and stuff.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
You signed it one of the majors.
Speaker 8 (19:21):
Nah, honestly in the worst Nah, I mean honestly, everything
so far just been kind of laying low. I built
a team like Chef Apollo. He actually helps me do
a lot of business and stuff. And I also have
like a team of shit probably at nine people so
far in nine ten who's actually like in the business
right now. We got a lot of people who are
just helping out and stuff. But I built everything from
the ground up. It's called Hest Records. Heasrecords, dot com
(19:43):
it's another west that we got. You can check out
everything our team, all that music, uh, some of my
artists that we have. So like you know, we're just
kind of growing a community and having everything you know backup.
Also in my career too, but at the same time,
I'm giving back helping other people too, give me more opportunities.
So for Shure, what about your boy over here, Apollo,
he's my chef honestly, to be honest.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Yeah, see, we got a nice little kitchen over here.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
I definitely want to come back and you know the house.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
We're gonna let you. We go to the real quick.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Actually if you we'll see if if it gives us
a hashtag of a plug, well will will definitely.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
But if not, you can't come back.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Jack, that was a good one. You can't come back,
Jack had no Yeah, hey Jack. And it's crazy though,
because like who inspired you at your young age from
the d m B is it local artists?
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Is the national big artist? Because you're flowing your your vibe.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
I feel I feel the localness of the d m
B right like you have that urban sound. That's why
I compare you more towards what I'm comparing you to
but your look is that?
Speaker 5 (20:44):
So what was your inspiration?
Speaker 6 (20:45):
For sure? My inspiration is honestly just I don't know
pop music as a whole.
Speaker 8 (20:50):
I was just listening to a lot of like Top
forty music, pop music, hip hop music, a lot of
like new hip hop music that has pop combined into it.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
I'm gonna have to give him all my old records,
you know.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
I feel I got to sit with him, But it's
you gotta change, you gotta tweak your ship.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
I'll let him here the way it is, you know
what I'm saying. I'm just saying, but he could flip it.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
You let him flip Yeah. I don't need to try
at it, you know what I mean. But I could
let you hear some of the I thought he had
a really cool ship. Yeah yeah, he's talking about me.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
Yeah, Jack, you want to sign talking about you a
minute ago, trying.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
To plug my boy right here, Jack, I got records,
I got right dot com about that. That's what I'm
just using your belly. But I should have used the
Imperial Stars. But actually that's a writer though.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
When he say that, that's what's a Christopher right dot
Com is a writer and he is a writer too.
So no, so so I got records too though, and
and and and they're very much like in that pop
oriented field.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
But I produced him ten years ago.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
But every time I let him here, like we'll sit
in here with you know, people hanging out and stuff,
and people start bumping and be like, damn, that's just pop.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Every time it's got a good vegas.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
I love this, Oh yeah, I loved And what I
was telling actually, I was telling the team, I was like, look,
and this is you know, this is just you know,
another senseless plug. But you know, I was like, look,
I give it to my kids and let them re rocket,
you know what I mean, Because I think the songs
are still have a lot of relevancy. But if they
were just a little twisted up and gave a little
bit more of a younger flavor vibe to it, baby
(22:25):
change out a few of the.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
I actually wish I could bash it right now. But
I really believe, I really believe, or I think you
could almost rocket live just you know.
Speaker 5 (22:35):
No, I think it's still rockable.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
You know, I've been in the radio gains in ninety two,
Like I've been listening to music on air on the radio.
I've been you know, saying like, that's real talk right here.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
And when I hear his stuff, everything you just described
is exactly what it needs and they still.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Be just something.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
You know, someone younger coming out and just rock. I
really I'm saying, if you rock, that might.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
That we can work on yet.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
And going back to you, Jack, you all these tour dates,
your team for what it's worked. Dog, I just want
to say, because you're young art you're hustling, keep holding
out because you can do it on your own. You're
doing it, dude. Don't these artists if they happened out
the artist.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
The big label. Well, I'm gonna say, keep going.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
You can take everything in. Bro, something comes in, look
at it. If it's the right deal, jump you know
what I'm saying. If it's not the jump, you.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Know what I'm saying, because because yeah, don't you know the.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Opportunity is going to be there for you. Yeah, and
and and sometimes it don't. It doesn't come more than once.
And I'll I'll give you an examples to share, you know,
because it's super important to me.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
You know.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
I in twenty ten, I did a publicity stunt. I
shut down the one on one freeway. I'll show you
the plaque in the next room in the in the well.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Just to give you an idea of this publicity stunt,
not to cut you off. It was such a big
publicity stunt.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
It was riding between in twenty ten Baraccos Bambas ituned
playlists and Katy Perry's stunt on The Muppet Show. So
this is where he was sandwiched in between, just to
give you an idea how the stent it was in
twenty ten.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Right, so I shut down the one one for you
in the middle of rush hour traffic, right, so as
I shut down the freeway, you know, when I'm literally
in there going okay, you know, I'm on top of
this thing, I go.
Speaker 11 (24:01):
To jail.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Sixty three sixty three most googled in the world. Whatever.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
YouTube, Yeah, YouTube's you know, thinking that it's spam. This
is prior to the numbers that we're hitting right now.
Right then then the YouTube thinks it's spam, and then
so they cut down my account.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
But the Grammy's recognized it, so that the Grammy's picked
it up, right.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
So long story short is this is that you know,
while going through this process, there's a.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Lot of hype on him at the time, and he
had a good deal that you're going to the deal
yeah a lot. So there's a lot of hype at
the time.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
And I get a week later, I get a call
from Universal Records, and Universal Records goes, you know, hey,
we want to offer you a joint venture fifty to
fifty deal. We want to put you on a tour
immediately and two weeks will have you on the road.
We've already listened to your music, We've got you know,
everything ready raw.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
Right.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
So I'm like, okay, cool, you know, and they're like,
we literally we got two weeks, you know. So I'm like, okay, fuck,
it sounds a little quick, you know. Take that back
to all my friends. And I listened to all my
peers at the moment, and they're like, well, look, if
they've offered you fifty fifty joint venture, they'll offer you more.
This is the first offer. Don't be a sucker, you know.
And I'm like, so I go to my attorney, I said,
what do you think. You know, it's like, this is
(25:15):
a fifty to fifty joint venture deal. You know, they're
not offering really any money, but they're telling me to
start making money. On the next three weeks, because we'll
be on tour in two weeks and on the third week,
I'll start making do this shit'll start bubbling blah blah blah.
And long story short is, my attorney goes, well, I
think if it's the first thing they offered after doing
that big publicity, it's not you should ask for more
money too. And everybody had this opinion, And in my heart,
(25:38):
I was happy to jump on that machine because I
knew how hard it was to even get to that machine,
you know, just to get that machine to look at
me and go, you know why you as an option is.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
A big fucking deal. Hell yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
And a lot of people miss that fucking deal because
they're so focused on trying to be like the shit
like I'm too good.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Be very careful about that part.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Because when they offered me that deal, I counteroffered with
the sixty forty deal or seventy thirty. I forgot what
it was plus money, and long story story said no,
thank you, will pass. And as they said no, thank
you will pass, I'm like, cool, that's cool. Let me
think about this, and then I try to regroup, sit back,
get back on the horn with him and go, hey, look,
you know I've thought about it.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
I really want to accept your offer. No, thank you,
will pass.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
And I'm going wait a minute, like you know for real,
like it's okay, I want to take this deal. And
they're like, no, thank you, we've passed. We've moved with
somebody else. They'll be on tour in another week, and
we appreciate everything.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Oh so that one and I.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Didn't get a fuck another deal for ten years, and
that was with iHeart. And when that new deal came,
you know what, it's a true story, bro. And that
deal came.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
I told Joe, I said, listen, Joe, I said, I
want you to know something. Excuse me. True shit.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
It was him and Mark and Craig Ausman from the
propers of the Law and I and and they're all
they offered us a fifty to fifty joint venture deal,
no upfront cash, but two thousand sales reps, X, Y
and Z commercials. I think it's a seven million commercials
a year whatever. The freaking number is three mintion, you know,
million commercials a year. And I'm thinking, there's the fucking
deal again. Right ten years later and I'm having the
(27:20):
conversation with them, and they're like, no, we should aff
for you know, try and get this, we should ask
for that. And I'm like, dude, don't fuck this deal up,
like if you and and I said no, no, right,
and this keep mind, I.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Really said this up punching each of you in the mouth,
I said, if to quote him exactly, that's exactly God
I said.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
If you guys fuck up this deal, I'm punch you
right the fucking mouth. I just want you to know that,
like I've already been through this, I want to fucking
I'm not playing with you. I swear to God, I'm
gonna punch you in the mouth. And it's unfortunate that
I had to even feel that way, but I was
had that deal again in my heart's and and this
is my company, you know what I mean. So you
have to have that uh you know, spidy like sense
to know if it's the write one for you. And
(28:00):
who knows where I'd be if I did sign that deal.
I'm happy with wh I'm matt Hey, it's crazy, the thing.
Who knows where it goes. It's just a story. There's
no real moral to the story.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
But it's a story, you.
Speaker 7 (28:09):
Know, what I mean.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Don't don't let no one hype it.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Don't let those thing guys take you fucking Some of
those big guys are the biggest mentors of the world,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
And so I look and they.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Got a record rep that goes into the station every
Tuesday or Thursday that's talking about your record.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
So it's like, you know, let's go.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
It's hard not to say, Oh, do I sign with
the bigger deal or not. I want to get into
the cannabis too, though, because I seen you smoking on stage.
I want to get into the love of cannabis and
everything else that you've done with this. Cannabis Talk one

this Jack Hess tour going. Jackhsstour dot com is the

I mean, I'm only sure you're smoking at every one
of them because you were smoking.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Heavy on stage at Krishta.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
I mean, has that been part of the stick the
whole time on stage, smoking, burning just that flavor in
the studio the whole night.
Speaker 8 (30:02):
I mean yeah, honestly, that's what's the start of really
getting and smoking. You know, it's just kind of a
little passion.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
You know.
Speaker 8 (30:09):
I actually used to smoke nicotine too. I put that down.
I'm all just about weed, like, no nicotine or anything.
I smoke like a backwood here and there with my gas,
but it's cannabis, you know all the way.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
What makes you want to write a song? Do you
like writing songs while you're smoking? I mean, how you know?
Is that something that comes into player you're always smoking.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
I mean I'm always smoking always right, no.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
Right, And that poppy max too, and that poppy sound
with that urban sounds. It's something that you're getting in
the mood too, because I feel like still it's still
happy and positive, like your Ship's not like I try
and keep everything.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
To be happy.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
I'm smiling when I'm listening to your ship. But yet
I'm still feeling something, you know. I mean, I'm smiling,
but I ain't feeling like no like poppy punk either.
I'm feeling like, yeah, I'm party time.
Speaker 7 (30:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
All my music is just supposed to be uplifting making
it feel good. Yeah, yeah, like if you're smoking to Jay,
you could just kick back.
Speaker 5 (31:02):
Sell a dream, like have fun and that's what's fun.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
And is there like people, I know you've been in
a lot of this with the d MB artists, and
I like that that you're working with a lot of
artists out of there for sure.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Are you looking to branch out? Is it open? Are
you're looking? Hey guys, I'm in the West coast right now,
holler at me.
Speaker 8 (31:17):
Oh yeah, I've been Ship, I've been networking with people
saying I was young. I came out to Cali, like
when I was sixteen years old, Like I'm pretty sure
Child Protected Services was trying to get me CPS and
my dadd had to come out and get me because
I was trying to come out here, make a network,
trying to you know, make shit happen.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
Like I'm leaving right trying to get me and ship.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
I'm like, oh, I'm leaving, I can do it.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Here to come check me out, and then yeah, oh
for real, Pops had to come get you back.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
Yeah, yeah, to come get me.
Speaker 3 (31:48):

Speaker 4 (31:50):
You're like I'm going to do it at sixteen, you
left and they had to come get you for really, you.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
Know, I was like kill, Like me and my dad
are on super good terms, hell close, you know.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
But I was like, damn, I gotta find a way out.
Speaker 8 (32:00):
And I was like sixteen, So I was like, squid,
I'm gonna just go squat, come out.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
And as you came to Cali, I mean, if you
collaborate with any big artists out here, I mean who
artists along in the place, But who do you.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
Want to do a record with?
Speaker 6 (32:12):
Shit? Probably justin Bieber.
Speaker 2 (32:13):

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Kid. I mean, of course you here.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
I mean that's I can't that's one of those ones
I can't even be like, yo, Biaber.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
We could probably hook that up.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Are you connected close to him or any chances are separation?
Speaker 3 (32:32):
It'll happen.
Speaker 8 (32:33):
Actually, the girl who got me, uh the awesome ho
concert that I met Elvis Duran and she does like
pr and ship for JB and ship.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
But you know it'll happen. It'll have if it's natural, yeah,
to do a record when the music happens and he
hears it and he sees it, and that you know.
Speaker 6 (32:46):
Everything's a process. Honestly, everything's just a work in progress.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
And you guys are doing all the videos out there.
It looks like the videos that I've seen online are
all around the d MV area of the show.
Speaker 6 (32:55):

As we speak about burning trees, we like to talk
about the High five with our burning trees, guests who
like to burn trees. And if folks you don't know
who we're talking about independent artists.
Speaker 3 (33:42):

in music, but like.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Part of the team.
Speaker 8 (34:10):
He's more someone like we're at the stude last night.
He's more someone like an ear, you know, like he's
been yeah since forever. So like when we're in the studio,
you know, emails, talk personal even that's a good song
or not, you know, stuff like that, What are you thinking? Seriously,
do like this song? Because at the end of the day,
(34:31):
I'm in the studio, engineer might not tell me, you know,
I'm like, bro, this is so he's gonna keep it
on hand with your I did like songs last night
and like, I'm not gonna lie, Like five of them

Speaker 3 (34:41):
You know them all Scratch told them all.
Speaker 6 (34:43):

Speaker 3 (34:46):
He's a real one. You're cutting him out the house?
Where you cutting him out? Are you making the track?
Cutting your records? A ship studio, different different producers. Who's
making the beats?
Speaker 8 (34:56):
I mean yeah, I'll just have people send beats into
my email.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Gotcha, because you got already a follow in, So people
already coming to the beats. So we're listening right now.
Who where should they send them? If they want to
mess with you?
Speaker 6 (35:06):

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Just go to your Spotify and they'll find you there
and they can.
Speaker 6 (35:10):
Apple music any platform. Honestly, Okay, that's cool.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Let's go to them for sending you beats.
Speaker 6 (35:15):

Speaker 8 (35:16):
You could just go and write in the hessrecords dot
Com hit contact sending whatever you feel me, get in
contact with the record you label you feel me?
Speaker 3 (35:23):
You said, yeah, you want an opportunity, You.
Speaker 8 (35:26):
Want an opportunity past records and also you know, we're
always giving opportunities to artists in all cities. So if
you have a friend and you can pull out a crowd,
you know they have some friends all that. If you
guys can pull out a crowd, bring some people to
support you, guys, I would love to have you guys
open up for me on tour on the Future City
you already know, so I'm looking to clap with everyone.
I want to give an opportunity to everyone at home.
(35:47):

you guys think that you guys can bring out a
crowd and come support and come show love to that artist.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
And we love to have you guys love to work,
So make sure to hit us up for show.
Speaker 4 (35:59):

do it. Brother, High five right here. Independent artists Jack Hessen, Cheff, Apollo,
How old are you the first time you smoked cannabis?
Speaker 3 (36:07):
