(01:10):
you're joining the show day because I wanted to talk
about some random things and stories that are out there
that are hit in the world and in New York.
The second legal dispensary has opening up, right. I think
by this time this this show airs, it'll be a
couple of days that it's already up and running. But
(01:32):
it's just crazy to think that the Empire States and
only legal recreational cannabis Dispensary New York is soon gonna
have its seconds and it's called you Ready Smacked s
m A c k E D. And it's opening in
(01:53):
Manhattan's Greenwich Village. Are you really familiar with the New
York layout? Mining chance? So my New York geography isn't
completely there. I grew up going to New York every summer,
every other summer summer when I was, you know, a
kid in my teenage years. Haven't been to New York
since I was nineteen years old. So when you get out,
(02:14):
let's back up a little bit. You literally grew up
going to New York quite a bit every year. Oh yeah,
you know at cousins that live in Atlantic Beach. So
on the obviously on the East Wide on the coast
over there. Um, you know, we used to hit the city,
you know, every single time we were there. Man, I
know my Canal streets when bomb shopping on Canal Street. Uh.
(02:34):
You know, the cannabis culture is huge out there, and obviously,
me being the California boy, it's the first question they
asked when they met me. You know, Oh, you're from California.
You must have something good weed, right, So I gotta
gotta love for New York, you know. Um, obviously some
of my favorite musicisms come out of New York. Um,
dying to go back. I'm a huge architecture fans. So
it's always fun being in New York. And it sounds
(02:56):
so cliche, but I mean you've been there, Joe, And
it's what they say about it. How what those bright
lights can do for you? Man, it makes you feel famous,
you know what I mean. Like it's something about Times
Square and all that just makes you feel just I
don't know, just magical and all that, you know, especially
after a Tokyo two. Well, I just feel like it's
(03:17):
a magical place. Right. So New York has approved thirty
six license for recreational dispensaries but from what I've seen
and heard, it's just like an open market right now
for Canada. I think that first storefront open back in December,
I want to say, and they had the first transaction recorded.
It was all throughout social media. I got a lot
(03:37):
of press around it, and I mean, store number two
is what we a month after. Now we're going, we're
hitting up the store number two. And I just love
that name Smack because you know, I try to I
try to keep you know, cool with these kids, you know,
and I hear, you know, base slaps, you know, that
turn the base laps. But when I asked, people are
certain of brand that we've worked with, their certain brand
(03:57):
that I've heard of, Like, hey, you heard of you
know die, have you heard of sauceage checks? Have you
heard of you know this and that? Like, oh yeah,
that that's Smacks. I love their pens. They smack. So
it's it's taken. It's taking the culture and almostly taking
the culture, but it's you know, it makes it so
relevant to us. You know. Um, you know, some people
like the name canny be growth, you know, some people
like something that this don's I love the name Smack.
(04:20):
So Manhattan's Greenwich, Green which village is the second dispensary
that's gonna open there. Well, they just opened up the
first one that was located in Manhattan's East Village and
what is that one on? But despite the proof license whole,
they're the community state. Uh it stays located in Manhattan's
East Village and owned by Housing Works and nonprofit providing
(04:42):
individuals living with HIV and AIDS. Open up on December
twenty nine. You're right, it was in December. Yeah, so,
and so the first legal cannabis suspensary sales marked in
history milestone in New York. Which once New York does it? Man,
it's like, you know, you got l A, you got
New York. You know that's the number one and number
two markets and then literally just fill on the blank
(05:04):
at this point, right like it's wild Yeah, the two markets. Um,
correctly If I'm wrong, Joe, you might know being better
than me. Now, I think New York is kind of
catching up as far as our literatureship obviously. You know,
we have a huge follow in California with you know,
being one of the one of the first legal states,
not the first legal state, but cannabis culture is out here. Man.
And as this buzzes building about about New York going legal,
(05:26):
I started to notice, you know, our following is our
New York following is up there, man, so shout out
to everybody in New York. Man, It's funny you say that,
because I've looked at the analytics. It's the number two, Mark,
I think number two or number one, No number two
spot where's I think California will still number one by far,
but New York's number two. It's definitely Balton back and forth.
I had somebody comin to yeah, I've seen I've actually
(05:48):
seen the analytics where You're right, it's about back and forth.
Because I remember mentioned it in the office. I think
once you guys are gonna believe it's what New York's
number one for us right now? Yea, like seven million
people are like whatever the number was. I don't remember
exactly a number. But as I say that and you
look at it, dude, I've seen the things online. I
remember Mark and Craig Washerman were out there and Mark
was like filming and they're showing these cats literally just
(06:11):
on the streets selling weed out of freaking boxes. And
that's just that's the part that Actually Slart makes me
nervous for these legal dispensaries that are opening up, right.
And when I say nervous, it's because it's why the
black markets still thrives so much here, because of all
the regulation and this, and that you're gonna have two
(06:31):
Right now, there's thirty six license that they're let letting
go out there, and they're saying, like the twenty that
they're doing, they're all trying to do it for the
all the people that were, you know, convicted of cannabis convictions,
which is great, right, I mean the initiative designs for
first adult use cannabis retail license for individuals with prior
cannabis convictions. I really love that. But as much as
(06:55):
I love that, it's gonna it's hard for these cats
to to say, with the rules and regulations and right
down the street they're selling it black market style. Well,
you know it's funny, it's you know, California legalizing it
was just kind of this like a parent letting its child,
you know, go to the candy store by themselves. You know,
it's we always wonder what's gonna happen to the black market. Well,
(07:16):
I had predictions. We all thought everyone was done for
and all that stuff. But that's real. The legacy market, Um,
it's it's there. Um, it's prevalent um. And I think
New York kind of addressed that right away, you know,
I know, the mayor kind of dry did his speech
as he was at the grand opening, basically seeing like, hey,
black Margaret, we are going to crack down on you guys.
Now obviously, you know, it's a it's a hard slipsloot
(07:40):
to touch on, you know, because these are people who
know nothing about canvas or life. That guy sound you know,
we don't cannabis on the street, as you mentioned. You know,
that's he's been doing that probably most of his life.
You know, Canvas culture and use was so you know,
I didn't realize how illegal it actually was out there
when I was smoked with my cousins out there. I
was like, yeah, we could have got popped real, you know.
And it's it's just funny, you know. Um. But I
(08:04):
think hitting the ground with the social justice aspect right
away is brilliant. Um. I think it's fair. Um. And
you know again, you know, it's we want everybody to
play by the rules. But I mean that's why they
can't screw up where I feel like Hannam, California made
a lot of mistakes. It's hey, if you want to
play by your rules, make your rules doable, you know,
(08:25):
don't text me on you know, don't. I can't just
be growing we for fun anymore. I'm getting told it
for that basically. So yeah, I'm just happy that the mayor,
the governor's out there, everybody that's doing their due diligence
out there in New York. And you know, they've said
that they expect the first twenty dispensaries to be open
by the end of this year. And for them to
(08:47):
say that, you know, uh, that's big. I mean, you know,
it's the governor actually said this, and that's a quote
from the governor saying the first twenty and it's that's
what she played on it as a democratic governor, going
this is what we want to do for the adult
use and that's how she ran and they already got
to going up. Amongst the thirty six license that are
(09:08):
awarded by the state, and thirteen of them were awarded
to businesses based across New York cities, five boroughs, three
in the Bronx Foreign queens for in Manhattan and two
in Staten Island. So you know that's what the're supposed
to do in my book, right, I mean, you gotta
spread it out like that. You gotta make it nice
(09:30):
and to accessible. Let's let's remember this for the patients
do as well, so it's accessible. When I think though
of New York and I think of cannabis, can I
tell you what I really think of it? I don't
know if you could hear this, but can you get
that bans? I cannot, you can't. Damn. I wish my
(09:53):
audio was playing. What's the track? Joe? What's the track?
Can you hear this? We can't hear it, Joe, oh man,
it's not in the streets without cops harassing. Imagine going
to no trial. Lifestyle cruising blues around my waters? No
(10:14):
well first supporters, Maconscious said the way we raise our daughters. Um.
But to think of his first line of that song,
dog like Na said this what he did the song?
If I ruled the world life, I wonder will it
take me under? I don't know. Imagine smoking weed in
(10:34):
the streets without cops, first thought, dog, Imagine going to
court with no trial. I mean that just line right
there gives me chills. What else New York is doing it?
And now New York has not one but two that
(10:58):
are open by the time you're listening to this, Oaks
in the East and the West, Manhattan or wherever I
already said it's at. But Greenwich now just opened up,
and the East has already opened up. And it just
makes me happy for a cat like Knaves who's been
rapping like that. The jay z Blay were selling a
little bit different dope, but it's very nostradamist, you know.
(11:21):
It's almost like, you know, the day, the day we're
recording this, as in observance to Martin Luther King day,
it's kind of like I had a dream speech? Is
it not that song? I mean, that's fair to reach
and use a comparison like that. I'm not mad I
have a dream speech, you know, because the first line,
weed on the streets without cops harassing. You were doing it,
(11:46):
nas You need to be the face of a dispensary
up there because you had it. And imagine that being
like right there when you walk in. Imagine smoking weed
on the streets without cops harassing. Right, he needs to
be the New York cannabis movement. Absolutely, thank you, thank you,
thank you for all your great music and all your
(12:07):
great work. New York. Congratulations. Thirty six licenses that come
to our out there twenty by the end of this year,
is what they're saying. It's Cannabis Talk one on one.
We'll be right back. I know you've got a story
for Solar, don't you. Oh yes, right after I book
my flights to New York. I got something for everybody
sitting through January right now. So when we come back,
we'll check on you all. All right, here we go.
(12:27):
Cannabis Talk one on one, will be right back after that.
You were listening to Cannabis Talk one oh one. Cannabis

Are on Instagram Dime dot Industries and big ups to
Mike Man. He came to our little gathering the other
a and his gear is second to none. Like seriously,
the new hats they got dog you see those I did, man,
(13:08):
I saw that hat, but you know, the whole team
got and they just keeps sitting man, shout out to
their you know, their their merchandise manager there it is.
Oh dude, look at these bad boys right here. Bam,
Oh you got the diamond hater blockers. Man. I just
you know, it's almost like I like their merchandise, but
in like their products almost almost, you know, every time,
(13:30):
like I'm using their merchandise now more than I'm using
their products. That's fact the mundo. It's just so clean, dude.
Every time I walk in our office, man, everyone soone's
always giving me crap about what you work for. Dime now, bro,
you're all dimed out, and I'm just like, hey, man,
they're gears fresh. I'm wearing their sweatpants right now. Actually, Dime,
And so does Teddy thinking my board the time it is, Hey,
(13:54):
you like dying time? Roof? You like dying time? Okay? Oh,
by the way, random plug, As I'm hugging my dog,
there's a new dog movie on Netflix. You have to
see it Dog Home or Home. I don't know what
it's called. It's hear me now, believe me. Latter was
the number one movie and I just watched it. Oh,
(14:15):
Father and Son and they lose the dog and the
story it's just it's it was just enjoyable. Dog Go
watch the movie. Um, it's quite quite enjoyable. I almost
really have to look it up just so I can
give the right But I mean, if you just look
it up, you're gonna find it all the classic dog movies,
(14:35):
Man My Dog, Skip, Marley and Me, Homeward Bound. What
was it called. It's the brand new movie Geez, dog Gone,
dog Gone, dog Gone like dog Gone, but it's called
dog and then Gone. And it's uh with a guy
that everybody says I've been looking like for years, which
(14:58):
is Rob Low. I don't agree with really, I get
that too. You know, everybody like Joe he looks so
much like Rob Blow now that you've lost all your
weight blah blah blaha. Well thanks, guys, I appreciate it.
But Rob Blow is a study. He's always been a study.
And just you know, no one has ever said I
look like Rob Blow. But yeah, I figured it's a reach,
but we'll give you that. But yeah, dog gone, dog
(15:20):
go go see this movie. Watch it tonight. A matter
of fact, after you watch it called me or text
me because it's a it's better, I'll call you crying. Well,
you know, it's it's a it's a roller coaster, but
it's good. It doesn't it Thank god, I'm just gonna root.
It doesn't end with death to where it's not like
the cure Jerker, like uh, you know the whatever movies
(15:43):
where you're just like, oh, I didn't know. I'm gonna
take that twist. You know, it doesn't take that twist,
but there's a some there're a little twist in there.
But what do you got for ussel? Are still January? Right, Joe?
January is uh? You know you just finished the holidays.
You had everything from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwans or whatever.
(16:03):
It's it's a very impact, you know, physically impacting on
your body. You know you're eating. You know the time
that people make the new gym as there, I'm doing
this now, my resolution, my this resolutions? Do you haven't
even us resolutions this year? You know it's funny. I
I've always liked them. I'm not gonna lie. Um. Early
(16:26):
on in life, especially before I got sober so to speak,
you know, meaning, oh I'm gonna try to drink less
or use less drugs or whatever it was at the time.
That's us try to work out more and try to
eat better and try to eat healthier. Now that I'm
two hundred pounds and healthy as can be, uh, you know,
for whatever that means. But I'm a lot healthier than
I've ever been in life. Um. And it's because I've
(16:49):
just been living life that way, you know what I mean.
I've been doing it every day. You see me when
I bring in my food and when I'm trying to
eat portion wise and trying to just live better. Um.
And it's not like I'm trying to be nicer or
trying to be a better dad or trying to be
a better husband, because who knows where that relationship is going.
But I just try every day. I don't have a
new resolution anymore, but I like people who do. Do
(17:12):
you have any you know, I mean not so much
that I'm stern about. Just like the one is like,
you know, drink more water, you know, get your two leaders,
your gown of water every day, you know what I mean.
Start there. If you're gonna if it's about health, drink
your water. That's just basically you can start. Obviously, I
literally walk around with this. You see me every day.
It's on my desk, it's right here. I'm not gonna
that thing does not look pretty on our show set.
(17:33):
But I know what you're doing, so I'm gonna let
you do you, bro. I mean, maybe we're gonna get
you to a dime. Actually love that you're concerned about
the show set, knowing that it doesn't You're right, and
as I've seen it on YouTube, going, well, that's and
I just know that it's my water bottle, so it
doesn't bother me. But I love that it kind of
bothers you right now to say that going does. I mean,
the folks, listen, this is a turquoise bright turquoise, uh thermist.
(17:57):
But I'm not gonna hate it for it. Man. But
you know, as is huge exactly, you know, eating better, exactly,
treating our level ones better, bringing value to whatever situation,
and stuff like that. You know. But one of the
most popular, obviously popular ones obviously is I'm gonna quit
drinking a k a dry January. We do not consume
(18:17):
alcohol all of January now January. It's one of the
longest pose in the line of kind of what I said,
like I was gonna, I wanted to slow down, and
it was one of my things that it realized you
were going there. Okay, oh yeah. So as people dump
on the dry January, uh kick survey finds twenty one
of dry January participants use cannabis instead of alcohol. Now
(18:46):
of them, huh one t seven percent of them. Now
power to those who are just going, you know, there's
dry January and their sober January. Sober January. You're not
you know, us in cannabis, alcohol, maybe other recreational substances,
cigarettes maybe, but you know, maybe some people might see
this and say, well, yeah, you're not drinking at all,
(19:06):
but you're smoking so much weed, you're smoking so much
cannabis and all that. Well, hey, I'm all about alternatives
to right, you know, if it's a healthier alternative, um,
you know, from what the research we've we're surrounded by
all day, I think cannabis is a lot healthier of
an alternative as far as a recreational uh substance. You know. Um,
(19:26):
I've seen it all all throughout Instagram. Some girl I
follow on Instagram literally just said dry January pot only,
and she actually had a drink where she infused her
drink with with cannabis. You know, um, again, it's definitely
a healthy out alcohol. Let's be real alcohol. Obviously you
can make you do some things, but it's not good
for you healthwise. It's damaging to the liver. Um you
(19:47):
can you know, develop so many diseases, autoimmune diseases, so
on and so forth. But I think it's just great
to you know. Oh that, I wonder which one of
them are new cannabis users, some people who don't use
canvas throughout the year and they're like, you know what,
I'm gonna quit drinking. I'm gonna give this. I'm gonna
gave cannabis a shot. January has a lot of those nowadays.
(20:07):
As you just said that, you made me go. I
bet a lot of new people that are doing the
California is sober, which is you know, I don't drink California.
That's right. Everything but alcohol basically is good. So I
mean I've recommended it. You know, I have a friend
of mine who she said, you know, I want to
(20:28):
I want to quit drinking, you know, I mean she again,
she wasn't so harsh with those words. She doesn't I
don't know if she said quit or you know, moderate
my drinking and asked her, have you thought about cannabis?
You know, instead of going home, maybe you're knitting, maybe
you're watching the movie and stile Craft can open a
beer or you know, a glass of mine or something.
Have you tried cannabis? And of course you're always gonna
get those people where it's like, oh, you know, I've
tried to eat in the past before, I just get
(20:49):
an anxiety or I just freak out. I do this
kind of stuff. So again, somebody educated, like a bud
Kender or somebody in our space could recommend. Hey, you know,
you don't have to you don't need the strongest high
Adoians cannabis strain. You don't need a thirty six percent
from wonder Bread. You don't need that kind of stuff.
You know, start with like a small little edible. Doesn't
have to be a hundred milligar metal world, just a
five percent edible. Maybe it's not t h C, maybe
(21:11):
it's CBD, maybe it's CBN. You know, our friends at
Call Effects, I'm sure would love to, you know, have
a conversation about with anybody here, you know heads Call Effects,
you know, check out their products. I love their products there,
CBN products because as we see drinks, they're just juice them.
They're phenomenal and they go the regular ones with just
the CBD in them. I mean, they're offer on the record.
They make great cocktails, those flavors. They have a strawberry lemonade,
(21:34):
a key we uh, you know, all these kinds of
stuns mano. That's right. So, I mean, I think it's
a great people using this as an alternative um and
with the medicinal benefits there are two not not all
those work for everybody. As you know, there's neurodiversity, biodiversity,
so it's all subjected to what works for you. But
you know, it makes me happy that more people are
(21:56):
out there trying cannabis. You know, let me ask you
this alarm. Have you notice because you're a bartender as well,
and do you notice in January decline so to speak,
in your clientele? Absolutely one. Because we are an outdoor
bar in southern California, so when it rains, obviously nobody's
gonna be there. However, you know, we we do see
(22:17):
a lot of New Year's Days, one of our busiest days,
so that's probably you know that demographic of people who
can right there at the beach give a plug. Where
do you bartet that? Where you got the deck and
moving the beach comes to your boy. I mean, and
not only that, folks, when Solar's on I g at
Solar Ski, you'll see some of the beautiful settings that
this guy is just sitting there going. Dude, when I
(22:39):
see that, and I go, you lucky son of a gun.
You because we just have such a great atmospheric life
out here in Orange County where we really and you know,
I have a great job obviously at Cannabis talk one
on one, but I still got love for the deck. Man.
It's like being vacation there and I love following. You
would just see it and I go, I want to
go work there. I wish I got paid to go
(22:59):
do that with him. You gonna be a bar back,
It's exactly, man, come on down, we'll we'll put you
to work. Man. But no, there there is a little
decline in January. Obviously, all restaurants feel restaurants in the
entertainment movies, you know, nobody releases a movie in January.
Restaurants definitely take a hit during January two as well.
But then the season started again. You got February, Valentine's Day. St.
(23:19):
Patrick's Day, one of the biggest jacking days of the year.
April April. You know, I think what Easter? April is
Easter And he also got our beloved four twenty two
as well. So who knows. Maybe these two cultures and
holidays intersect. You know, maybe we'll create a holiday where
you know, cannabis and alcohol and you're sick. But you know,
it's just it's just great that um dry are the
(23:42):
New Year's Resolutions? I just forgot. I don't know why
I'm gonna ask this. I know it's dry January, so
it's obviously the month of January, But is the New
Year's resolution a one month thing? Is that what's supposed
to be quote unquote you know, there's there's I think
the New Year's resolutions are like, yes, this is we're
gonna start doing from here on Ford. Dry January is
for people who you know, maybe people do want to
quit drinking. All in all power to you, there's help
(24:04):
for that. We encourage you to do whatever is best
for you. But for the most part, Dry January is
like that, I'm gonna do an alcohol detox because from
Halloween to New Year's I've just been pounding liquor, eating
carves and salt basically, you know. So they take a
break in January, clean out the liver a little bit,
and uh, you know again it's crazy what you know
a month of non drinking can do for your liver.
(24:25):
You can help but regenerate. You know, you'll start to
breathe better, you'll look better. Um, you're hydrated better obviously.
So again you know, Um, I haven't had a drink
in twenty four years. Power to you, bro, congratulations man,
And uh, I want to I want to open up
the phones again, you know, to those people because you
know it's Mr Joe Grande here are you know, beloved,
(24:48):
you know, sober liaison you you know, and twenty four
years but damn, I mean not a day goes by.
You know. I don't want to speak for you with
you know, it's just it's a struggle. It's a disease man.
So it's you know, having so many our egosystem within
you know, ours reaches me who's gone through that, man,
It's it's crazy, how you know what these people are
going through. Yeah, it's it's it's you know, I could relate.
(25:11):
So when somebody wants to do a dry anything, I
can relate. And if you want to do it, there's
maybe a reason, because you know, I I share it
meetings and all the other stuff. And I always like
to say, you know what, if you're here by the
if you got nudged by the court, you know what
I mean, because you've got a good d WI ski,
well there's probably a reason, you know. But you know,
to each our own, I'm not sitting here preaching by
(25:33):
no means. Uh. If you want to drink, drink, if
you don't, don't smoke, smoke, do you? You know what
I mean? I do me, you do you? And uh.
I think that's personally even though I don't uh engaged
like that. But I love the fact that this dry
January people are leaning towards cannabis because if anybody's gonna
(25:56):
drink or drive or smoke and drive, not that I
want you drive period on any of those because you
can get a d u y by being high as well. Um,
but you know I'd rather have you smoking and kicking it.
Drinking it and kicking it if you want to, Yeah,
but you have less of a chance of being an
ass if you're high and just kicking it. Oh, I
(26:17):
hear that, man, trust me, not just behind the wheel,
but you know, just less of a chance of being
an ass. That's a great way to put it in,
right Is that not true? Right there? Well, thanks, it's
a good one right there. A matter if I call
us up. If you're one of those guys or girls like,
are you doing the dry January? And now you know
somebody that's doing cannabis or are you've heard of this?
(26:39):

v A T. I O N s N A t
I O N dot com. We had them in studio
the other day and I'm so I love this team, bro,
because when I heard we're going to start working with
the Canvas Cannabis Friendly Hotel, you know, I just thought, Okay,
you're gonna allow cannabis. Hey, here's your room key, go go, go,
do what you think. But these guys are advocates for this,
(27:45):
for this space. This isn't just you know, oh, here's
a hotel room where you can go smoke at. This
is here's a safe place where you can consume. You
don't have to leave your hotel or some people don't
like the smoking public. You know, this is a safe
place where you can smoke and keep an eye on
your luggage right in your room. There, your bathtub, your
comfort zone basically, so then creating this comfort zone you
know for us people, Um, and I just love the
(28:07):
whole team in there. They don't just have Candida cannabis
street friendly rooms. It's a cannabis friendly hotel. They host
this thing. They have an awesome rooftop lounge off the
top of the cleared in. They host the bud Lover's
Bash at this hotel. What else are we gonna host
the bud Lover's Bash at a hotel? Man, So I
just can't wait to be out there. Like their knowledge,
like that lady Mary that works there, that's helping with them.
(28:29):
She's like speaks all over the country. She's really legit
and dope. I mean, she lives. I really enjoyed speaking
with her afterwards and everything, and she was just so
personal too, like we just hit it off on a
different level. It's like really cool, like I felt like
family with her for somewhere. Oh dude, I remember the
first time we had an email exchange. I was like, bro,
I love this person, Like seriously, she's just unique, different
(28:54):
like that you know when you exactly when you say that.
I'm so happy you said that you had a great
experience with her because after the show. First off, when
she was just on the show was one thing, and
I almost thought she was pulling my leg when she
was acting like, oh my god, I'm so excited to
finally meet you. I was like, Okay, she really saying
this or just being I don't know, you know, just
I don't know why. It just it felt genuine. But
it was almost like two genuine and two real and
(29:17):
then it was like, you know, no, she's really a listener,
she really likes us and and you know, and then
she's I was in awe with her because if I've
read her bio and seeing where she spoke, and I
started watching some videos on her reading some stuff, and
I was like, dude, you are so intelligent knowing how
Canadas affects the mind in the NFL Bubba, you just
done so many things with children and this and that.
She's just dope. So congratulations to employee whole teams, the
(29:40):
events department. They're doing great things over there at comparatag Well,
I said, I was gonna take you to an island solar,
and I'm taking you to the island of Hawaii talking
about legalizing cannabis. In three they had a big meeting
out there with the good old m p P. Why
does MPP sound like a military badge? That's on the
(30:02):
thing right, which is the Marijuana Police Project a Drug
policy forum on Hawaii at the a c l U
of Hawaii. I don't know why I get this Hawaiian
accident when I do that, though, but I spoke to
the press conference held in the capital of Honolulu as
they met with the Hawaiian representative and they announced her
cannabis legislation, which will target criminal justice reform and other
(30:28):
important considerations. I just feel like it's overdue. I mean
they even said, if, um, what was it? They said,
if but what's right next to Kansas? If um, what's
that state right next to Kansas that did at damnit? Uh?
State line my geographic memory? Uh? God, not Kentucky, Kansas
(30:53):
and Missouri. If Missouri can legalize cannabis, thank you for
my lack of knowledge right there? Why in the hell
can't we? And not only why the health care? You
just know? But they I did read it in the
story that they said, you know, Missouri did it, why
can't we? Basically, I mean I kind of maybe through
in the why can't we? But they said something were
(31:14):
to the state to the form of, you know, Missouri
did it and we can't. And then I started thinking
going in my head, I feel like cannabis is legal
in Hawaiian it should be like the Maui Wowie, for
God's sakes, the Pacolo. I mean, how many more we
just your names do we have out there that our
(31:36):
Hawaiian style, you know? Tie stingy, you know, and when
you look at the money that it can make, we
should they they the governor was saying we should take
thirty to forty millions of taxes we would get from
that and invest in development of recreation, on the mental
health system for the good of all out there. I mean,
(31:58):
this is the newly that the governor, Josh Green said this,
and I agree with that statement right there and looking
at that money it can make, because let's just face it, Hawaii, Maui, Hallolulu,
all these places is a destination place, just like California is,
just like Vegas is. And those places are killing it
(32:20):
with revenue. You had Colorado killing it with revenue as
they had you know, uh, the tours and this and that.
We are better yet the skiing resorts, right and we've
been out there shout out to the wolf pack when
we've got to dispensaries and did our thing out there
with those people. But dude, the money that it would make.
(32:44):
Can you imagine Hawaii. You get there and you're just
being able to score your batch and you're going and
just chilling on the beach and you're going surfing. I mean,
it's damn They're illegal anyways there, but which blows my right,
like it's not almost like, what do you mean it's not?
But it's not the state's not making the money, that's
(33:07):
what's not. Like they're not making that twenty to thirty
forty million dollars in taxes that they could be making.
They're not having these jobs that they could be providing
for people. We're not over taxing the companies that could
be going up there. But you know, that's hopefully that
everybody gets that right and makes it tight. But it's
(33:28):
just a almost when I read this, I was like,
what do you mean it's not legal there? Yet? You're
right the Bible Belts places are doing it, I mean
not Texas, but jeez, what's going on? And of course
they're talking about making it socially equity first people that
have gotten arrested for this and that, which I think
(33:48):
they're avoiding the mistakes California made, which is great. You know,
you'll give these licensing like they're just did in New York.
We talked about that earlier, and you know, I love it.
And just to think that if you're going to Hawaii
to travel, you can score your own there because I
remember back in the day going to Hawaii. Let me
tell you my Hawaiian story. We did a concert way
(34:13):
back in the day. It was the reunion of Snoop
and Dr Dre and Hawaiian And it was when I
worked in radio in the Bay Area. Power one oh
six came out there too. I've done stuff of Power
one six out there too. But this is I wasn't
smoking then. I was partying back then when I when
I went out there with with Wild and the Doghouse,
(34:35):
and I remember taking a few extracurricular activity party supplies
and one of them was cannabis, one of a few. Yeah,
and uh we had a great time out there. Did
I wake up on the beach there too? M Draine
Snooper Union in Hawaii? Yeah? Oh, come on, bro oh
(35:00):
that is wild man. I mean, I've never been in Hawaii.
I hear great things freaking New York every summer and
every year, for God's says, but you've never been to Hawaii.
Never been to Hawaii. And again, you know, growing up
in South Orange County, I'm very privileged to you know.
When I look out there, I always say, like, you know,
I've never been in Hawaii. But we're gonna beach has
(35:22):
to be somewhat similar. Now again, it's probably not. I
need to get out there and I will now um,
and this will definitely incentivize me to get out there
to I'll give you this. You ready for this. We
in South Orange County are very privileged of the beaches
like the Dana Points and the where the Ritz is
because you can go to the rich Carlton and just
(35:46):
it's second and none. That view right there, oh yeah,
might be blue. I know what the restaurant right there,
it's it's it's literally a pain. And you know, as
we say that Solar. You know, I have my car
and I don't know if you know about this one,
but they have the anniversary card for the Ritz. It's
a Locals card. Get out of here, dude, you gotta
(36:08):
go get one. So I have this card where I
can valet for free. I go there, I get fifteen
percent off my mills, all this stuff, and you just
they treat you. It's it's a locals card. Because I
found out about it through another friend. I had no
clue about this. And you get, like I said, off
that you get a deal on the rooms. I've never
got a room there but like I took my wife
(36:28):
there for Mother's Day. Once it's got a deal on that. Um,
we'll go use the pool, we'll use whatever and amenities
because you're a local and going to brew the restaurant
there and all this stuff. It's just badass. So as
you've been there, the beach isn't is long and laid out,
but it's the setting and the scenery that's just as remarkable.
(36:50):
In my book, I mean, the waters in Hawaii are
better than the waters here, you know. I mean the
kids get in the water, but I'm not touching that water. Yeah,
I mean I maybe touching with the ankle up to
the knee, but I'm not trying to swim in that thing.
That's me. But I'm you know, again another reason for
(37:14):
me to get out there again. Like you're saying, it's
like why wouldn't it be legal? You know. Um, it's
the same thing I say about, you know, Colorado being
California for legalization. It's like, how come not California. And
one of the things was like imagine being able to
imagine smoking we did in the beach with U cop Storrass.
The type of thing that was that was Hawaii without
having to sneak it out there. You don't got to
sneak it in your luggage anymore. And the government that
(37:36):
you brought back the nas line. But in March of one,
the Hawaiian Senator proved two cannabis for Form bills that
ultimately did not move forward. Hopefully, right now what they're
talking about, Governor Josh Green and what they're doing, hopefully
they'll make this happen and by three this year we
should see some step where they're making more money and
(37:57):
they can help develop more out there. I mean, let's
just face it's it. It's a win win win, you know.
All that being said, Solar, thank you for joining me
today and having a great time. Thanks for having me,
Man saving me for my emails. Man, always a pleasure.
It's always a good time to catch up with you. Brother.
