Speaker 1 (00:00):
Heard around the world on the Heart Radio act APO
podcast or we need to get your podcast. It's Candaba's
Talk one oh one, Lee and Joe Grund. What's up?
What's up? Guys? This is Chucky Fuego Yai. Yes, the
Highest of Hie, Marty Grind and I want to welcome
you all to our high As show, Talking with the Stars.
On Talking with the Stars, we smoke the finest flavors

(00:23):
and we hang with the dopest people, the dopest people
to us. And today on our high As Show, we
have an amazing person, the Birthday Girl, a very great
woman in cannabis, a survivor of cancer. You know, before
I say too much, Stephanie Cakes, thank you, yeah, thank

(00:45):
you for coming on to the show. Thank you for
having me. It's quite an intro come on. Yeah yeah.
So for the people that might not know you, Stephanie,
maybe give us a little background on how you've been,
you know, in the canvas stay and what you're doing
right now. All right, Well, I've been in the and
in the space for about sixteen years now. I know
I look like yeah. She she started at a very

(01:07):
very young age, very very young. Um, I pretty much
started out by slanging edibles that I made in my
kitchen to baseball players on my junior college campus. She's
been helping early look at that. We don't take pills,
we take edible. What kind of edibles were that? What

(01:27):
kind of edibles were that? Oh? I graduated from La
Cordon Blue culinary school, so I was making everything from
like cannabis Eclaire's to like candies, you know, the standard
rice crispies almost probably Hella goood too. Probablyn't even taste
the weed. And you went to culinary school. I didn't
even know that. That's why you make all the alkaline

(01:48):
thish is too? So crazy? Um well, let's let's talk.
Stephanie does so much. I'm excited about this episode. Is why,
this is why we have her as a guess. Let
me not take away the floor continues today. Um So,
as far as my cannabis journey, you know obviously started
on the leg the seaside and I ended up becoming

(02:14):
diagnosed with cancer. What year was that? I got diagnosed
in two thousand six, right right before legalization. Yeah, obviously,
while I was locked in a hospital, there's no way
I could access anything. Actually was strapped to my bed,
and they had an alarm go off every time I'm well,

(02:37):
you know, it's like putting a lion in a box.
You didn't want to, you know. I went from working NightLive,
selling weed and you know, having the time of my
life too, let's get locked in a box. And I
didn't do too well in that box. Um, at least
not in the beginning. I yeah, you know, the nurses

(02:57):
thought I was crazy. They literally had like an alarm
go off every time I moved because they were like,
where is she going? She trying to escape? But that's it,
really is. My life is a Netflix documentary waiting to
happen for sure. Um. As soon as I got out
of the hospital, I had a couple of friends who

(03:18):
had a delivery service that was kind of like and
I pretty much kicked it up, and within a few
months we had one of the largest delivery services that
hit l A. And it caught the attention you know,
of a couple of people, a lot of people actually,
but in the right people. This is still pre rack,
This is pre this is still pre Rack. And I

(03:42):
ended up um meeting the right people and they put
me in front of Al Harrington and I started my
career at Viola when everything went legal, I was one
of the first three employees in California and that's where
me and steph met violent and took me in like
a family smoked some of the finest flowers, had the

(04:04):
coldest events, and Stephanie just brought me in like I
was laced every day. It was beautiful. Yeah, it was.
You know what, I think. I was like one of
your first friends when you moved to out Yeah. Literally,
I moved out here and it ended up living a
few blocks away from you, and then we just became
best friends literally just smoking the same work ethics, same goals,

(04:25):
same like yeah, path them near the amazing. So so,
because you've seen it pre wreck, how how has it
been as a female coming up in the in the
cannabis space, Because you've seen it. This this the full
breadth of it, you know what I mean, It's it's
where its until it's where it's now, you know, I
mean pre Wreck days was bonds and dongs, like it
was all about the Bu Tigers having the biggest hitties

(04:47):
and nobody you know, just like, yeah, it was. It
was honestly really really discrediting as a woman being in
the industry going into legalization in and seeing how many
brands were still on that whole. Yes, and I want
to say probably only because of how many people actually

(05:09):
still follow that. That's true type. Yeah, that's true. There
are many types of content creators and influencers out there,
and we all have our different lanes. But even even
with you know, companies, they pick a lane and they
run with it. And that's sex cells. That's pretty much.
And I mean, I have nothing you can to stay.
Any woman that is confident in herself that you know,

(05:30):
wants to be in a thong, go for it. At
one point, I wasn't a dong like every woman should
feel comfortable, you know, and a thong. But I think
when it comes to advocating for medicine, because this is medicine, um,
there's a different angle that it should be should be taken.
Um makes sense. You don't see talent all out there

(05:53):
that will be hilarious. Hey, talent offered tids. Actually that's
the red. Don't take that talent on would just model
right there, that's gonna be the next sketch. Marty and
I do the next catch perfect now, Yeah, I was Um.
I actually came to California right during that prerect time also,

(06:15):
and I remember all of that. I remember going to
all the High Times festivals, all the sessions that were happening,
and it was literally like every single girl was was
scantily clad trying to sell product, this, that and the other.
The standard outfit was like either booty shorts like the
brand's name across the cheeks, like a crop top. But man,

(06:38):
have the times changed? And then yes, now I feel
like now going into this you know, recreational market, it's
definitely it hasn't like tightened up, but it's just evolved
and pivoted a little bit. I feel like a lot
more people are comfortable with coming out and speaking about it,
and they're a lot more educated about I felt more
people are comfortable with actually talking about it, which is

(06:59):
helping other people listen and learn and figure out you
know what is not what they actually said it was
some time ago. You feel like the stigma is starting
to kind of be kicked out. It's very true what
I'm saying, which is amazing. Education is key. Education is
definitely ky. Yeah. So I started to interrupt your story,
but I just wanted to um, yeah, So I was
with Viola for about four years. I helped them literally

(07:22):
do quite a few things. I mean, you know, the
cannabis market is ever so evolving and it's still a baby,
and the first few years, nobody knew what the hell
they were doing. I don't think a lot of people
know what the hell they're doing right now, but very
early on, no one really knew what they were doing.
So it was the wild Wild West. It was like

(07:43):
taking the wild Wild West and putting it in like Jumanji. Perfect. Perfect.
It's like the wild Wild West and Jumanji had a
baby that would be the cannabis. Oh my gosh. It's
crazy to like navigate through that, honestly, you know. But
but you know, we always you gotta learn. Like you said,
it's evolving, it's pivoting and stuff. So sorry to yeah, yeah,

(08:05):
so I mean Viola. I loved Viola. I love Alan
the team over there. Um We've got a great relationship.
I pivoted from being just the cannabis girl to tech
um into who has It? And I'm also built out
the cannabis sector of who has It? So I'm still
in weed, but on a different scale. So we got

(08:28):
all these exotic looking snacks, etcetera, etcetera, and some with
some ace, some pre roles. We got some shaving cream.
What is Who Has It? Who Has It? Is a
social e commerce platform that carries the most exotic and
new and emerging brands that are curated by your favorite celebrities,
athletes and influencers. And I have had a few of them,

(08:50):
and man snacks in there Doobie smacking. I can't hold
you like munchies on tin you you? I think Marty.
Marty one day passed me this bag of popcorn, and
I believe I see them over there there, the candy
pop Ones and yeah, what what's the candy that's mixed
with this popcorn? Again? So they have multiple flavors. It's
actually Ryan Seacrusts brand. Okay, alright, We did a really

(09:11):
cool activation with them last year and that popcorn just
everywhere candy. It reminds me of its Hella good. Yeah.
I didn't think it was gonna be a good misture.
But it's like sour patch. They have twigs, butterfingers and popcorn.
Who would have thought you? The Oreole ones is crazy
like oreole mixed with it. It's like kettle corn. Oh
my God, it's I'd say the coolest thing about who

(09:34):
has it is being able to log into a marketplace
and find snacks and items that you've never seen before. So,
like Marty, you have a store, right, So if Marty goes, Hey,
everybody shot my who has it? Market space type in
code Marty anybody that logs in. Because he's an influencer,
he gets a commission off of everything so old, which
is super cool. So it's not only a place to

(09:57):
find like exotic snacks and and other brands, because we
have like lotions and home stuff there. We go. Okay's
website is not just the we have over five thousand
products from like o I have a ton of healthy
stuff for the health nuts. They got home things for
the home, things for your skin, like it's pretty knowledge Again,

(10:19):
this is great. And not only that, but most of
the products that we carry, if not all of them,
are sold at hostel pricing. So you're not only finding
brands that you've never seen before that I'm sure you
would love, but you're able to try them at a
hotel pricing like what other place lets you do. That
is that is they're trying to feed you and help
you save money. I don't. I don't know how much
better it gets, Lovely. What what is your favorite product

(10:41):
out of the box or out of the boxes that
you've curated. Okay, my favorite favorite product actually don't have
on the table right now. It's in your box, Marty.
There's a company in college. We have a special y UM.
It's actually called Ebony no Are. She is a amazing woman.
It's a black owned brand, small business UM and basically

(11:05):
she makes these phenomenal lotions and body scrubs and soaps
that help with like eggs ama and like rostatia and
other skin issues you may have. But it literally leaves
you feeling like a baby, like is amazing. And the
boxes filled to the brim ski, I know mine is
like huge. Right here, I'm gonna have to like go
through person and the brands that we carry to our

(11:28):
small businesses so minority on, black owned, women owned, Latin
owned UM. So it's really cool to be able to
support businesses that in like Edny day, you wouldn't normally see,
Like you're not gonna walk into a rouse and see
Ebony no Water that. Yeah, that's actually as well supporting
the smaller ones to help him get bigger and grow
because it's a lot of great product that actually don't

(11:50):
get that shine with the bigger shelves and companies. Our
community of users is growing daily, so it's really fun
to watch. You arn't with who has It? I started
with too has It about two years ago, but the
platform has been around for about ten and we launched
the commerce last year in October. So yeah, like in

(12:11):
the midst of COVID and everything. Yeah, that was like,
how was that as a as a business? Like what
was that to to get through? Because I know that
that's a huge you know, to to drop something in
the middle of that. Wait, you know what before you
answer that, we're gonna take you too much? Were you? Right? Back?
Talk one, Welcome back to Cannabis Talk one oh one, Right, welcome,

(12:38):
Welcome back to Token with the Stars. Now, before we
went on a break, we had a question for you
about your company. You made a big push in COVID
and I know that a lot of companies have struggled
to get through COVID, but your company made a big
push in COVID. How how was that? How did that go?
You know, we're we were deemed essentral because we also
have a packaging division that sells like postable, like forks, knives, plates,

(13:04):
you name it, we have it. UM. So we were
gloves masks. So being deemed essential was huge for us
and it helped us really UM evolved into what we
aren't too in that makes a lot of sense. I
didn't even think about that. And yeah, that check could
be healthful. I mean deemed essential to This was deemed essential,

(13:27):
that is correct. It was deemed very essentially a very
quick Yeah. A lot of new smokers came out from
the pandemic because like, we're at home, what else are
you doing. I'm smoking, I'm cooking, I'm watching my favorite show,
and I'm not doing I'm trying to stay sane amongst
all of this stuff that's going on. It was pretty

(13:49):
high during the bandemic. I can't even front. Like when
we went into lockdown. I went to Target and bought
a pool floating and Marty knows, Marty knows exactly what
I did. I went to Target and I bought a
pool floaty for myself and a few of my friends,
and I went to a gas station, plugged it into
the air machine, blew it up, drove half a block,

(14:11):
threw it into Jujuice Pool, and I spent probably of
time in Jujus Pool on that floaty taking all my
calls because I was like, if I'm gonna be on
zoom locked in my house, I'm at least going to
be doing something I enjoyed. Was definitely at the pool
every day a while. It was past a hundred degrees. Yeah,

(14:33):
enjoying it. I wasn't really mad at the pandemic. I
ate better save a whole lot of money, all right. So,
because you have such a legacy in the cannabis community,
because you smoked probably a number of flowers in your time,
we would love for you to play our game blindly baked.

(14:56):
We got sitting in front of you right now, three joints.
You're You're good. You can still smoke that if you want.
Don't don't miss the pallet as the pallett. You gotta
have the pallet. So right in front of you, you've
got three joints. Um right next to them are the nugs. Now,
each joint has a number on it, and that corresponds
to the strains that we have on our end. And
so what we're gonna do is we're gonna tell you

(15:17):
right now the three strains that you're gonna smell and
you're gonna smoke. You'll be able to crunch the nugs,
smell them, take it, take it, take it, hit of
the joint, and then go ahead and pinpoint what strains
they are. Okay, alright, so the three strains and no
particular order. Okay, we've got white peach tarts from West
Coast Cure. Then we've got a Callie Gelatto from blem

(15:44):
Then we have an RS eleven from West Coast Cure.
So those are the three strains. You got Callie Gelatto,
RS eleven and white peach tarts and the nuts are small, yes,
Like I'm like trying to smell it. I smell like
the o g on my hands from this morning, Like,
oh no, you gottat that. You gotta factor that in. Now.

(16:09):
It's another thing that we're looking. We gotta have our
contestants wash their hands, have alcohol even like washing your hands,
Like I feel like my nail and my hands have
been the smell of weed is embedded into my skin.
At this point, I feel so bad, like no, no,
Like anybody that comes in, it's like, yeah, I've rolled

(16:32):
this blunt earlier. My fingers are still sticky from it.
And yeah, I told somebody if they smoke one of
my dreads, they might get high with the amount of
weed that I've smoked. Like, I feel like it's a
possibility at this point. Okay, so let's go ahead. Which
joint would you like to start with? You start with one,
I guess, so let's start with one. Yeah, let's start
with one. I like squitched the hell out of these

(16:54):
tiny little That's that's fine, that's fine to crisp. Yeah,
that's what they were there for. So whenever you want
me to repeat the names just so you can kind of,
you know, throw them around, let me know. That's a
nice sat lupon. That's a great lighter right there. We
ran into the Saint Point by Saint du Pont Boys

(17:14):
at m J Biscon and they are a brand that
specializes in lighters for cigar smoking, but they're stepping into
the cannabis space and we had a little chat with them,
and now we're doing luxury weed lighters. Yes, yes, okay,
she's got her first hit from joint number one. What
did taste light? She's letting the palette hit. Here we go,

(17:36):
Here we go. The name is one more time just
to throw them out for you. We've got white peach tarts,
We've got RS eleven, and then we have Callie Gelato.
It's sucking me up because, oh, here we go. I've
never smoked a white peach charts, but I don't think

(17:57):
this is okay, so not not a white peach tart.
And you could change answers all the way up until
the into the last one. You could swap around whatever
it's kind of taste, like I think number you think
number one, just for right now is RS eleven. Yeah, okay, okay,

(18:18):
So for right now she's saying number one is RS eleven.
We can go ahead and move on to the next one.
So far, just to let everyone know, we've had three
guests on our show. Stephanie Cakes is our fourth. Out
of those three guests, only two of them have gotten
one correct one strain out of everything. But at the

(18:39):
same time, they were really, really confident and did not
ask for the names of the strains before wanting to
give the answers. Let their brain started cooking because they
thought they knew. Then when they didn't know and we
told them the strains, then they doubled back on what
they thought and fucked up. So there you go. Alright,
she's sparking up the second j right now? Is this

(19:02):
number two? So so, considering you said you thought the
first one was R. S Levin, you've got Callie Gelatto
and white peach tarts left. See if there's a drink
in this who has it boxed? He's going digging, He's
going digging in the treasure trove. Drink. Oh, let's go juice, soljuice, soldice.

(19:26):
It's like a Korean pair of juice. They just got
picked up by the Rams state like we're soapy stadium.
Because let's go see if it's tasty. It definitely tastes
better cold. It's cold enough. It's kind of brick out here.
I'm not gonna hold you. I don't know what number
two pretty refreshing you want to take it? What's what's

(19:48):
the two options for numbers? The two options for number
two or Callie Gelatto and white peach tarts. Stephanie ha
has been our most humble guests so far, Bye bye far.
This might be a white beach heart. Okay, so for

(20:10):
now we're gonna say number two is white peach tarts.
You're writing down yet, I got him in my mind. Yeah,
I got him all right. So just so you know,
going into your last nug, you go ahead and take
a second. Going into your last nug, Stephanie, your last
choice would be the Callie Gelatto. So let us know
when you crack into this nug, when you know spark

(20:32):
the j let us know whether or not it's the
Callye Gelatto, or whether or not you want to change
any of your answers. Let's give it a whirl. May
I see that torch one more time, please, Marty. I've
never done a taste test where I haven't seen the

(20:54):
whole pound, or like at least a quarter. Okay, we
make it a little bit, Morgan. Yeah, like the smallest
nugg I've ever seen. Not making we can't give too many,
you know, because at first we were gonna let people
do dry polls. But I'm like, yo, that's going to
really give it away if we let people do dry.
Everyone has had a hard time with anything that they try.
So far, so far, still gotta release. We still gotta

(21:18):
release my thing. Huh but mine no, my blindly bait?
Oh snap, we do from the O G, from the
O G. We got we got one little treasure trove
in the mix that I need to edit and put together.
But I actually did Blindly Baked before we started this season,
and we'll see how I scored next to all of

(21:40):
our guests. I really forgot how Chucky score. So we're
gonna see he forgot how you enjoying number three over
their stuff? Number three is very smooth? Okay, so number
three has been the smooth is she's saying, is bl
You think that's blunt number? So you're saying it's Collie
gelato because that's your last that's your last choice this week.

(22:01):
So yeah, I don't know what it will tell you
in a second. I got a great poker. I really
hope it is. Do you want to change any of
your answers? Or are you good to go? Is that
your final answer on Blindly Baits? I mean, it's kind
of sucking me up because this nug is so small. Okay,
we need to give a bigger nuggs. You know what
it's okay, I'm not I'm a run with it, all right.

(22:24):
So so just to remind you, you said number one
was the RS eleven, You said number two was the
white Peach tart, and you said number three was the
Calie Gelato. Chucky has a great fucking memory. Good to go,
all right, Stephanie, Unfortunately you got everything completely wrong, everything

(22:50):
completely switched up. I know that this is a hard game.
Go ahead, go ahead. So so let me just tell you. So,
you're on number three, right, You're on number three. Number
three is the White Peach Tarts. Yeah, yeah, that's the
White Peach Tarts from West Coast. Cure. Then, um, number

(23:10):
one was actually the Callie Gelato. So the very first
one that you hit was College Gelatto from blem and
the number two is the RS eleven from West Coast. Yeah.
But hey, it's a hard game. You know, we got
a leaderboard and so far, you know, we've only had
two of our guests get one strain correct, so they're
tied for first place right now. Um, you know, we'll

(23:31):
see how everyone else does with Stephanie. Come challenge your skills.
Enjoy that flower over there, Enjoy that. Yeah that's West
Coast here, Yeah, West Coast Care. That's the White peach Tarts.
Shout out Jake. Here's yeah, shout out Jake cares fat
episode is dropping today. Yeah, that episode is dropped. Even
though you all won't hear this till later, but we
dropped back. Yeah, but thank you so much for being

(23:53):
a part of this day. Thank you for you know,
doing this, and we will be right back after this.
We'll be right back with Canaida's one oh one. Wasn't
the last SECU Welcome back to Cannabis Talk one oh
one and now we're back with talking with the stars.

(24:14):
Me being a lover of food stuff and I know
you love to cook healthy King talk a little bit
about the Alkaline Cooking and Eating movie being the culinary Ship.
I don't even know that until that. UM Well, being
a cancer survivor, um I had to go into the
regular scams and in my three year mark I actually

(24:36):
ended up being rediagnosed, and not too many people know
that actually kept it hush hush, and the dodger was like, oh,
you could start on a low dose of chemos. I'm
like new pill form whatever. And I just wasn't into
it because you you had previously gone through treatments. Yeah, radiation,

(25:00):
like it's horrible. My mother back in the day definitely
went to that too. That's it's not funny chemo therapy,
Like anybody that survives going through chemotherapy, Like hats off
to you, because but for real, it is I wouldn't

(25:21):
wish that on like nobody nothing. So when I got
the phone call that I was, you know, being re diagnosed,
and they're like, oh, we'll start you, I was just
like hold on, nope. And my doctor actually asked me
if I had a will when I said that I
was going to take the holistic route. Wow. Wow wow Wow,

(25:46):
that's that's tough. That's heavy. Yeah. I actually had that.
Like she gave me like this like will pamphlet thing
and I took it home and I put it on
my I had this like TV stand thing basically like
in my line of sight, and every day I looked

(26:09):
at that piece of paper, and every day I went
home and like silently started cooking like alkaline meals. Following
Dr Sebby and I never heard of doctor sey Is that?
Oh my god? Yeah, how do you spell sebvy? Just

(26:31):
so the people at home could look it up? S
E b I Okay. Dr Seby all right, he was
a magnificent herbalist and he cured all sorts of things.
Um uh. The FDA actually sued him and he won
because over like seventies some odd patients that he had

(26:55):
cured of things that people said you can't cure without,
you know, modern medicine, came in and testified. Wow. Wow,
I'm definitely looking into this. I'm definitely looking into that.
So there's an alkaline diet, it's an alkaline lifestyle, and
it's about discipline. It's about eating for survival as opposed

(27:20):
to eating for pleasure, which is what mostly everybody else. Yes,
you know, food is not supposed to be enjoyed. Is
something to keep you nourished and alive, and we have
turned it into obviously a very emotional it's almost food
is a love language. Definitely. I agree. Yeah, I've I've

(27:44):
been since I've got to l A. And I tell
a lot of my family, that's a lot of my
families on the East Coast. I've been drinking alkaline water.
That's one move that I've made to like go towards
a healthier you know, because who knows how good the
filtered water is here in l A. But I've made
that little step, but I need to make bigger steps
within my diet. Would you like to educate him on

(28:05):
the alkaline bottled water? It's not bottled Where is it?
Where is it? I get like a five gallon jug
and I go get it every Are you filled up? Yes?
Is that bad? So? What did I just walk into here?
What did I just walk into here? We've had the
same conversation because I said what you said before. You're

(28:29):
making a great step for it, we all are. But
all right, I'm listening. I'm listening. I maybe lost a
little weed game because I'm high, but you've been losing
on life. What you've been doing is so I'm gonna
teach you. So you could change place alkaline water as
soon as it touches plastic like all the alkaline bottled

(28:51):
waters that you see everywhere, and people are like, yeah,
I'm paying seven dollars, but it's yes one whatever, Yes,
for real, it's not alkaline when it touches plastic at all.
I don't know where this little accident came up on
White Beach, white West Coast gear the White Beach just

(29:17):
got her. You got me. I like it. I gotta
smoke so that. I don't know if I've ever heard
stuff say that besides hitting the Marty missile, Like, no,
what a little joint. That's good. There's there really isn't
a lot of weed that I would there were really isn't.

(29:37):
But I like I like that straight blindly bake. I
want that care package. I'm just kidding. Um, but alkaline
water is not alkaline when it touches plastic. Real alkaline
water is actually spring water in glass? In glass? Okay?

(29:58):
Or what's what's the machine that you have that like?
Does it turn? So? I had a Congon machine. I
still have it. I actually only like to use it
now and to like wash my vegetables because which I
used to used to drink it. I used to drink
it until I educated myself a little bit deeper. And

(30:21):
don't get me wrong, I love the Congon machine. I
think it's great. I think I think it's great. You know.
And does that filter water and then make it alkaline? Yeah?
Well it filters water and it it cleans the water
better than most other filtration systems. Um, but now I
just drink spring water out of glass. Okay? Yeah, as

(30:44):
we see right here, spring water out of glass. And
even if I go get that water that's filtered and
made alkaline and I get it in a glass jug,
is that still that's still bad? Are you getting out
of a plastic container. Okay, it's come to have a faucet.
What what's its filtration system? Is it going through a

(31:05):
plastic filtration system? No, I mean it's coming from the
water pipes plugged into the machine, the machine. Basically that
water is considered like dead water. Dead water. It's it's clean.
You can drink it, but the minerals and stuff that
you would find in spring water aren't in it. Okay,
So so the minerals makes it alkalar, it's it's clean water. Yes, okay,

(31:30):
I'm happy I'm getting this knowledge because I am not
yet take care of your eleven years have been in California,
got in this knowledge. Okay. Everyone's been telling me just
to drink you know, alkaline water, and so this is
