Speaker 1 (00:01):

There's a contest for every fan. Fan Duel more ways
to win Catching Phase. I can't leave here, and we

(00:27):
got a Super Bowl champ pro bowler in the building,
Cliff Aver, what's up my boy? Man? I can't call
it bro how you man? I'm all good. I see
the background, I see the setup. Man. What I'm saying nice,
nice and need, nice and need. And I forgot to
include I always include man and boys who from Oh wait,
you know what I'm saying. Oh wait, boys gotta gotta

(00:49):
include that because we was deadly. We got a lot
of killers on in that class, you know what I'm saying.
And they better respected, they better respect. You gotta respect that.
He first, let's let's the off. What you got going, man?
What you got going? And tell us about the little foundation, Uh,
dinning to make a difference. I heard a little bit
about it. Yeah yeah, man, So this is my eighth
dinning to make a difference. Uh, it's it's a found

(01:10):
It's my foundation Cliff every Family Foundation. We've been been
doing this for a hot little minute, man, and it's
all carried, it's all geared towards do not diabetes. And also, uh,
you know, we we got a school in Haiti, we
got houses in Haiti, so we do a lot of
work in Haiti as well. You know, I'm a Haitian,
I'm a Zoe, So you know, I gotta what's up? Y? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's what's up. I didn't know that. I knew you're

(01:30):
from Florida, but I don't know all that though. You feel, yeah,
that's what that's what's up though, So go back to Florida. Man,
you and you're in high school, you're growing up faring
level football. Who some of the guys you watched growing up? Bro?
You know what, Man, I was late at football, Bro,
I was a hooper. Man. I didn't starting I started
playing football to to high school to tenth grade. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
I was late. So but you know when when I

(01:52):
whenever I turned the tune on, you know, I had
to check out my man. Dion Prime made you want
to fall in love with the game. You saying how
much swag he had, and you know, just bigger than
the than the game. Uh. And then you know when
I started diving deep into it, you know, Uh, it's
it's LT and and some of those defense events from
back in the day where it's like, okay, I like
how to get active, you know, how to get my quarterbacks.

(02:13):
So I would say probably Prime was with the main
guy in you know, LT, probably my guy that I
that I kind of watched on the field more so
than anything. Yeah, I definitely that's That's that's what my
ship started to at with Prim and the Cowboys teams.
You know what I'm saying, Irvan mt Prompt when the
people made me really really fall in love with it? Man?
So you and Jacksonville how you get to Produe? Man?

(02:35):
So it's crazy. So, like I said, I was late bloomer,
and I'm saying I didn't started started playing too late.
And then um, you know, I was checking out of school.
I mean I got a whole bunch of scholarships or whatever.
But then I didn't want to red shirt, you know
what I mean. I want to be there for four years.
I want to get in and out. And the year
I was going to Produe, they had they had nine

(02:55):
guys get drafted off their defense. Oh, I'm like, shoot,
I come in push coming shop. I'm at least second
string as a true freshman, you know what I'm saying.
So you feel that was my mindset going into and
then I end up beating my guy out mid way
through my freshman year, and then you know I kept
playing from there. But that that's basically how it happened. Man,
was just I looked at the stats and chart that chart. Hey,

(03:20):
I swear that's how I had a lot to do
with how I got the Cairns. I love coach Man,
coach Man Gino too. Coach Man, you know came. He
just was a real dude in my living room, know
what I'm saying. But at the same time, Ca, you
have five senior corners. I'm like, I looked at the
future schedule. We're fini play against Oh you Texas, Texas.
I just need to play against him. Boys, I'm straight,

(03:40):
that's it over there. But you know what was crazy
is most guys don't look at it like that. You know,
most guys they're looking at uniforms, they're looking at the girl,
they're looking at everything. Like na, I'm trying to get
in the field. And I'm trying. I'm trying on the
field so I could get to this league. That's what
I'm trying to That's my only goal in college. I'm
trying to get to this league. Baby. Acting so you

(04:02):
get drafted Detroit. Oh hey, you know what I'm saying.
First year, y'all go, oh sixteen, only sixteen? Talk about
that little season? Man? How how weird? How crazy was
that ship? Man? It was wild? Bro. But you know,
as a rookie, you know, you're just trying to figure
it out, right, You're just trying to figure things out.
You're just trying to see how how this NFL thing worked.
And you know, we we're playing and I'm like, because

(04:23):
we're are four no in the preseason. So I'm like, okay,
you know, four and we gotta we gotta what I
was saying. And then um, you know, week about week eight,
week nine, I'm like, okay, well we didn't won a
game yet, Like what's going on? But again, for me,
it was just like, man, I'm just trying to get
some playing time. I'm trying to be you know what
I'm saying. I'm just you know, because I know a
new coach coming in, because that's what I'm hearing. A man,

(04:45):
new coach coming. I'm like, well, I gotta put some
good film out there. But then I start seeing some
of my vets. I see to dude, probably like week twelve,
he came into the to the meeting room. He was like, hey, uh,
you know, man, you know we're not going anywhere. You know,
we we need uh, you know, we need a lot
to change things around. You know what, I'm just gonna
put myself on I R you know what I'm saying.

(05:05):
I'm like, wait, they could pay you million dollars and
you're gonna quit right like, look like, okay, that's how
the league work. But obviously that's why we was always sixteen.
You know what I'm saying. It was just wild. It
was just wild. But you know, I learned a lot.
Though I needed that. I mean, I wish I didn't
go through it, but I learned a lot. Talk to

(05:26):
me about the game, taking me about the NFL is
a business. Like everybody was going the next year, you
know what I'm saying. So it was it was worth
the experience. Yeah, yeah, it's it's I can only imagine.
I've been on some four three win teams. I can
only imagine the vibe of the building it when won
no games. You feel me. So you're there five years,
you get up out of there, you go to Seattle.

(05:47):
Totally different vibe there. You know what I'm saying. You
get a chip your first year there? What was what
was special about that team? Man? All the boys? Man?
You talked about sharm, you talk about Earl Camp Chancellor,
and then got Mike Benet next to me blaging the
caj I mean, the list was crazy. But all them
boys was young boys, Like I was the old head
when I got there a year six. So all them boys,

(06:09):
they was, they was already knocking heads off, you know,
they was already doing anything. And um, when I got there,
it was just like the energy, you know. Coach Carroll
got music blasting that we're shooting hoops before practice, you
know what I mean. Just just different from anything I
hadn't experience. So when I got there, honestly, it took
me about two years to believe him. Though. It took

(06:29):
me about two years to believe Coach Carroll was really
this happy, go lucky guy, you know what I mean,
Because I was in the league, I didn't have three
head coaches by then, all of them nothing like that,
you know what I mean. And that's why we was
able to win though. It was just the energy. It
was the young the guy just believing in the message
and boy, everybody playing for each other. Yeah I heard,

(06:50):
I heard Pete Carroll. It's the vibe saying king though.
You know what I'm saying. That's word on the street.
Oh man, vibe s king bro whatever you want to
listen to at practice. I'm talking about blasting and everything,
future Wayne, whatever you want, you know what I'm saying.
And it was what was cool with him too, is
you know he had he had some of them boys
come through at practice. You know what I'm saying. He'll

(07:11):
have drinks that you know what I mean. So it
was always a good vibe, and um, you know he
kept the energy right Yeah, yeah did uh So y'all
had legion of boom right there. So we had no
fly right sometimes our d line used to you used
to joke about it, but we knew they were serious.
They used to feel like they got the short end
of the stick, Like, damn, y'all get all the love
we do. All of y'all used to feel like that.

(07:32):
The y'all d line feel like that with Legion Boom
you know what now, only because Shermon and them boys
would make sure that that they didn't shout us out
from town to town. You're saying, they would show love,
you know, I mean they would push for us to
getting the Pro Bowls and different things like that. You know,
the press conference shows some love. So it never really
got to a point where we was like you know
what I mean, like we getting them sex and we're

(07:53):
applying pressure y'all getting you know, I mean, it wasn't
It never got to that because they always showed love.
They understood what we meant to him. Yeah, we were
volum used to be on that, but we're sure that
was just bullshit. And you know, yeah to give us that,
they used to give us our little ship though like
damn be wearing. You know, the markets wearing volve like

(08:16):
let us let us get our little love. But now
I look so so y'all next, chill, y'all thought instead
of running it, how you feel like you feel like that?
Because you know, I hear I talked to a lot
of people. Did it divided the locker room? How did
that one play? Did that one play effect like Seattle
going forward the next couple of years. You know what,
at first, when I was in it, I didn't think

(08:39):
he played a role Like I didn't think. I mean, like, man,
we're gonna bounce back, We're gonna we don't go right
back at it, you know what I'm saying. But after
the fact, you know, start talking to some of the
guys and you start you start hearing kind of how
guys felt. Yeah, I think so. I think I think
that messed up the momentum because I really do believe
if we win that we went that second one. I
think we went the third one probably the next year
or two, you know what I'm saying, Like everybody was

(08:59):
still we refreshed. But I think after that whole thing
played out, I do think a lot of guys, um,
you know, kind of started questioning the message. You mean,
because once you once if a coach has a philosophy,
and everybody then bought into it, and you switch that up.
Now everybody looking at you like, oh, wait, you've been
lying to us this whole time, You're saying, and I

(09:19):
think that's what happened with but not saying why. Now
you got guys like why we did that like you
as a leader. You know what I'm saying, exactly exactly,
And I think that's what happened though, is like everybody
just started questioning everything. Everybody starts like why Marc beast mode,
like why would you We'd rather lost like that? You
know what I'm saying. But so I think I think,

(09:41):
I think, yeah, after the fact for show, a lot
of guys will definitely questioning everything that was going on.
Who uh who who some of you? Who's some of
the guys you watched out, some of the d ns
you like in the league right now? You know you
can never go obviously Von being out last year, but
I'm always looking forward to Van. Yeah, my man, khalil Man,
that boy uh nine nine for for the Rams Aaron,

(10:04):
Oh my goodness, unreal, bro. I ain't never seen nothing
like it. Um So I would probably there'll probably my
top three for show. Then you know you got the watch.
You know you got j J or well t J.
Actually yeah, when boys killing it. But the young boy
out there in San France, he got banged up last
year too, um Boa, Yeah, Bosa, that boy gonna be,

(10:26):
he gonna be, he gonna be a dog with it too.
So I'm love walking the game. I love watching them
boys get down. I don't miss it one. But you
missed the game? What's up? Man? You missed the game?
I don't, Bro, I get to ask that all the time.
I'm like now, I like making my own schedule and ship.
You know what I'm saying. My body feel good. I
love taking my kids to school and going to football practicing.
I'm just enjoying my life right now, you know what

(10:47):
I'm saying. So I love football, don't get me wrong.
That's why I'm doing this right here, so I can
still be around the game. I get a chance to
chop it up Cliff April and whoever else I bring
on the show. But I don't really miss just being
out there like that. Bro. I ain't gonna lie me neither, Bro.
I'll tell somebody like, man, it's the first time in
my life and probably about twenty years, where I actually
felt good. You know what I'm saying on Monday, just

(11:09):
feeling healthy, feeling and feel well as healthy is gonna
feel um. But I don't miss I mean, I missed
the locker room from time to time, But besides that,
I don't miss plan on Sundays, bro I don't miss it. One.

in this one. I gotta consider the Browns on the
money line because they're still the favorite, and I think
Baker's gonna go and with the running back injuries and
Odell potentially not playing, I gotta like a Donovan People's
Jones anytime touchdown score. He had two touchdowns on Sunday
against the Cardinals, the only time the Brown score. He

(12:13):
even caught a Hail Murray in front of Mr Kyla Murray. Look.

I told you I got the gym my my brother,
the GM one of my main homeboy head trainer. So
I get my locker room fixed right up here. You
know what I'm staying with the home You know what
I'm saying. So I'm cool, man, I I'm a man.
So new start, new season. Uh, who you like? Who
you like? Who gonna go NFC? Who's gonna go sc
the NFC tough? I'm so. I mean I'm biased, obviously

(14:06):
I like the Seahawks, But NFC West a monster though. Boy,
the four playoff teams all for That's what I'm saying.
So I think whoever can pull it out in the
NFC West. Uh, you know I like them for the NFC. Um,
you know obviously you know you got you got Tampa
down there. You know, ain't know telling what he's gonna
do down there. But I like one of the four

(14:29):
in the NFC West. That's that's what who I'm to
go in the a f C. Man, Uh, it's hard
to go against KC. Man, it's hard to regardless of
what what what they got going on, man, that what
Pat mahomes a dog, so it's hard to go against him.
But it's good though. That's why people like football, man,
That's why they like the NFL. You just really never know.
But if I one of the four in the NFC

(14:51):
West and then Casey and the Chief, I like it.
I like it. I think I think they're gonna run
it back. I think it's gonna be the Bucks, Bucks
and the is gonna run it back. It's it's you
will never see nobody bring back twenty two starters, you
know what I'm saying. Then they've done draft. Then they
got like a mean backup rusher, you know what I'm saying.
That they just drafted. They got a couple of whole

(15:12):
line and who could play right now, so they got
a lot of depth to you what I'm saying, Hey, B,
only you got guys like a B is the third
receiver type ship, so it's gonna be hard to beat them.
And then Kansas City just so high powered. Man, it's tough.
But the only problem, the only thing I say is
obviously back to back is hard. But I I say,

(15:32):
is the one thing we all we none of us
can't control, is health. You know what I'm saying. So
you you want to play away and knock on wood.
I don't want nothing to happen, none of them boys,
But don't play it away. But it's hard to stay
that healthy two seasons in a row. And that's my point. Yea.
You know they were just saying, if the boys can
stay healthy. Though I agree with you, I agree with

(15:53):
but so but we get up out of here, man,
