from Maryland PG County, UM, so me, Kevin Durant, like

in one game my sophomore year and it's like before
the whole like YouTube that I was playing like off
the line middle too, like middle line. So I'm straight
down here on everybody right, and uh so I knocked
these knocked these kids out. So after the game, like
twenty students come run under me. Was like, man, you

knocked those dudes lights out, and then like subconsciously, I
was just like, yeah, you know called me lights out
and the stuff. Bro. I didn't. I didn't know it
was gonna, you know, be a big deal. Mind you
no social media, so it wasn't like out nowhere exactly exactly.
I got to school Monday morning and I walked around,
got my backpack on, my books in my hand, and
everybody like, yo, you know that lights That game was crazy.

So everybody started calling me lights So I went to
go ask my mom. I said, line, you know, I
need to get this light switch. Man, everybody called me
lights out now, and so I begged her doing she
let me get this, um this light switch in my
right forearm, and and that's how the whole thing started. Yeah,
that's what's up. That's what's up. As what's up? So
you win? You win? Uh that DC area and what

I'm saying, I know you bawling and just told me
you knocked for guys out in one game. I know
you balled in the high school. So why Frederick Douglas though,
Because I, um, well, for one so I grew up
in UM and like full stroke capital heist area, So
how could I describe that? So that's real close to
like real close to d C where where I go back.

And so my mom thought that if we moved like
away to the Marborough would seem to be better that
you know, I go to a better high school, being
a better situation. Um, and I was real close to
my coaches, you know what I'm saying. I actually I
started playing back. I was a basketball player at first.
I hoo like that DC Assault team that, like Beasley
and everybody, we all came through the scene. You know,

I just grew this way and they you know, yeah,
they grew this way. I know about that team though.
I heard of that team for show. Yeah. Man, it
was it was so many of us that came, you know,
came to do less Snell to play the dude and
then played it for the Blade. I mean it was
the list goes on, man, amount of cats of King
and played through that through that AU team. But um,
(13:07):
that's what it was. Man. I kind of started off
playing basketball and I end up playing football because just
the violence of the physicality of it, Like I just
love football more. Right, That's that's what's up. So you
you get to your junior year. Right, you know what
I'm saying, you're really balling all conference and stuff. How
was your recruiting process for the league? How do you
know you was ready? I mean even Frederick Douglas, that's
(13:29):
not l s U Alabama nowhere, Like how you judge that? Like, Man,
I'm ready to go to the league already, I'm I'm
How was that recruiting process? So? I um so the
school that I went to was probably about twenty minutes
from the University of Maryland. Um I went my sophomore year.
I went to University of Maryland. Like, they have the
best high schools at d C Meryllal Virginia. You know,
the whole area. So all the best high school players

will go into this three D champ So that will
put me on the map my sophomore year and I
went there and started shredding the camp up. They moved
me from the sophomores up to the scene and I'm
walking off the field and they said, man, we want
you to come here. I'm a hundred seventy five pounds Midimi.
I'm soaking wet on the seting five pounds. They said, man,
we want you to come here. And I've reverbally committed.

I didn't even go on any visits, even though I
had offers from you know, every big school that was
in the country, and I just love even took in
the visits. You just that's that's where you was, huh.
I just man, there's no way I was going to
any like, come on, if I go to if I
go to take a trip to Miami and go to
that visit, lets it's overway for for real. So you
(14:37):
come in the league. What I'm saying you you had
him ten sacks, ten tackles on loss, the forrest fumbles,
three or four forest fumbers. You weren't that rookie of
the year. So as that season going on, right, you
can see your numbers? Of course who else was the
defensive players that year? You was like, man, they kind
of come into they on my heels. Who was it?
I would say, probably I was looking at the most

is the markets? Umwhere? And I'll tell you why, because, um,
before the draft, you know, you go fly to see
the teams and all that, right, Um yeah, And so
I flew out and dialed the Cowboys. They flew me
out along with their first top fifteen picks. Where they're
looking at get it market. Fears is out there, and
(15:20):
Travis Johnson's were all pac Man. We all out there,
and so we're in the locker room downstairs, and then
Jerry Jones and Bill Parcels they send somebody downstairs to
get me by my you know, just me and everybody
else down Then they brought me up in the room.
They said, hey, we got the leventh pick. We don't
think you're gonna be here. We think you gonna end
up somewhere in the top five. But if you if
(15:41):
you're there, we're gonna we're gonna draft you. So I'm thinking,
like the whole time, I'm going to the cow after
the meeting, I'm thinking, I'm one of the Cowboys, like
you know, and my family back in the d n
V area either at the time it ran Skins that
watching football team, or you were a Cowboys fan, so
you were either either one. So I had have the
family happy as hell and I was going on the Cowboys.
(16:03):
Another half who would you know, watching fans hated it. Right,
So um draft came and left pick came up, the
charges head twelve left pick came up, and then they
called the markets where name so I'm sitting there like
you just you can hear a pin drop in there. Yeah.
So well everybody's like, oh you know what happened? What
you know going on? Um? But the charges told me

that if I was at the twelve pick that they
was gonna pick me too, right, So I had of
the charge out. So now I'm closely watching. I'm watching
the markets and I'm like people just do from toy State,
why exactly? Like and nice? You know, the markets was nasty.
So so I always watched him, especially early on in
the Brookie rookie year. Oh yeah, that's that's what that's up.

That's so you you had a chance to play for
all these legendary defensive coaches man uh Shanheimer who we
got on here, nor Turner, Wave Phillips made listen you
know I want with that? Hey, well what who was
the one though? Who was the one? You was? Like?
I learned the most from it, man. I like the
system the most. He had the vibe vibe in the most.

Who was the one for you? He MANA wait, man,
I'm telling you, come on, man, like if you can't
even for me, like you can't even speak bad, I
wouldn't even let anybody talk bad about Wait, ever I
got anything bad, I feel the same way, bro, you know,
like it was something about way man like. And I
didn't realize that when I was coming into how how
spoiled that was really I came to the locker room.

Then you got Marty shot Ham as your head coach,
Way Phillips is your decordinator, John Porgando and and Greag
Monosky of my linebacker coaches. So I'm sitting there, I
got potentially, you know, four or five head coaches right there,
and I'm talking to every day. Um and Wade Man
was just by him like if you did something great,

that's what you don't do. Like he wanted you to
win all the time, so if you ever did something wrong.
I remember at Blitz one time I was supposed to
become in the flats, but I thought I was gonna
just gonna take off and get it. And my my
whole thing was if I could make the play, IM
gonna make it. They ain't gonna say nothing, so they
left me up block. They threw the ball quick in
the flats and I think they've got a first down

on a touchdown, and I remember looking that way when
I got on the sideline of us. Damn, you know,
like he I was, so he was so disappointed that
he didn't just give you that look right, that look man,
but like you heard your grandpa life like, and I
have disappointed my dad or something. Right, hey, I know
exactly what look you're talking about. Man. Wait, that's for

me too. Man. It was he didn't ask guys that
do nothing they can't do right, And then I feel
like he had a knack of finding what you do best.
I'm gonna make you do that ship all game and
keep you in that position right there, man, So the
way it always put you in the in the position
to win, bro, that's the that's that's real ship. When
I when I came in, I came in late because

I had a contract, this dispute. And actually then the
first time I came in, no all season or nothing.
It was like the third day of real training camp.
And there it was the first day had passed. So
I didn't know what I couldn't pick up on the playball.
This is all everything that I had was foreign to me. Um,
And so we got back after I didn't know were
lined up and when when I was going and when

I was dropping. So they Wave Wave brought me in
the back along with the rest of the coaches. He said, Sean,
sea ball, go ball. And I said, I said, coach,
what you're talking about? He said, sea ball, go ball.
We'll line you up wherever the ball is. I want
you to end up there. That was my playbooks, like
the first three or four games. Yeah, you know, and
that was like that was Wave man. And you don't

you don't find a lot of coaches who would do that,
you know what I'm saying. Some coaties might be like, Man,
you need to learn this playbook and you ain't gonna
be in the game. Do you know this playbook the
way He's just gonna put you in a in a
in a position to succeed. Man. So, uh, the Chargers,
the Chargers, they didn't they didn't move to l A.
I know you were super involved in that city. Man.
That was you know you San Diego to the t

How you felt about that move man? Initially, Man, I
wanted a team to stay there with in San Diego
because yeah, um, I just felt like with a new stadium,
and you know what, when if you bring a stadium
to a city, Man, it's already nice and get stuff
built around and people gonna come. I mean, it's just
it's what it is. And so San Diego was kind
of like my home. I was twenty years old. I

got drafted there, so me coming into being a man
for the first time, and they learned how to do
stuff as really an adult, which being Diego. So of
course I wanted a team to be there. But once
I saw that then was it just wasn't no possibility.
You know, it just wasn't gonna happen. I was okay
with it because, um, you know, they needed a new stadium.
They had to grow, you know, brought a fan base,

had to be in a better position. And as a
business as a businessman, you sit back and say, okay,
you gotta you gotta make these moves in order to grow. Yeah,
that's play there there. They definitely had to make that
play right there. Uh these charges nowadays, these current charges, man,
how you feel about him? They got a chance. They
contenders what they're gonna do, you know. Um So you know,

I was fortunate up like when I came to the
locker room, Drew Brieves to start it and put it
up with the backup. So when I tell you, man,
I was spoiler coming into the NFL, just walking into
the locker room, and I got these dudes there, right,
so you so spoiler. So then you get a chance
to play with Phillip basically what joining my career. So
you look for that quarterback, man, like you gotta have

a quarterback there that you know they can pass the
torch and they carry the carry the organization for another
five and ten plus years. And so I feel like
they got they got him there in justin Herbert like that,
Like he's a he's a special breed man. He's a
special with and you look at him, his stature and
when I when I met him, he was still kind
(21:47):
of quiet a little bit. He's still trying to get
you know, in the field. Now he's taking charge of
the team, and they got everybody like behind him, like
this dude is special, man, He's real special. Yeah, that's
that's that's good to hear. That's exactly what I see. Two. Man,
I think they definitely got a chance. That defense, That
defense can get top notch, you know what I'm saying,
if they once they get healthy and they all that

secondary is all on the field at the same time
for multiple games in the row. That defense can really
turn the corner. And they got a championship type defense,
championship type O line, and definitely a championship type quarterback. Man.
So I love where the charges going. I love where
they're going at. I love what direction they are in
right now. Um, m v P mid season we have

about week eight, weeks seven, Week eight, Man, who you
like MVP mid season? You know what? Man? Um? I
don't know when the last time this happened, but I
would say Dirk Henry, Yeah, like, And I played with
LT Man, so I see different side of running backs
to whatnot man, but at that position nowadays because so

so much of an emphasis on throwing the football. And
so when you got one of these generational dudes that's
that big, that's strong, that fast and putting up these
limpers like this is these appro dudes. He's hundred and
twenty plus yards a week, you know, like that, man.

But people don't understand. And I was there with LT
broke the touchdown record No. Six and I got a
chance to experience being around some greatness. Man. But when
he's on man, he's on the path of like yards
or something. It's like third season in a row with
two thousand type. I'm with you, man, I'm with you.
It's beyond Offensive Player of the Year now, Man, you

gotta give him his m VP. Man, don't always gotta
be a quarterback. Even though Kylor is looking crazy, right's
lighting up? He lighten it up. Man, you got a
couple of people, like you said, justin lightening it up,
Josh Allen, lightening it up. Time, lightening it up again.
So it's gonna be hard to beat out all them quarterbacks. Man,
I guess that's why they created the Offensive Player of

And so I knocked out for kids for kids or
in one game my sophomore year and it's like before
the whole like YouTube that I was playing like off
the line middle too, like middle line. So I'm straight
down here on everybody right, and uh so I knocked
these knocked these kids out. So after the game, like
twenty students come run under me. Was like, man, you

knocked those dudes lights out, and then like subconsciously, I
was just like, yeah, you know called me lights out
and the stuff. Bro. I didn't. I didn't know it
was gonna, you know, be a big deal. Mind you
no social media, so it wasn't like out nowhere exactly exactly.
I got to school Monday morning and I walked around,
got my backpack on, my books in my hand, and
everybody like, yo, you know that lights That game was crazy.

So everybody started calling me lights So I went to
go ask my mom. I said, line, you know, I
need to get this light switch. Man, everybody called me
lights out now, and so I begged her doing she
let me get this, um this light switch in my
right forearm, and and that's how the whole thing started. Yeah,
that's what's up. That's what's up. As what's up? So
you win? You win? Uh that DC area and what

I'm saying, I know you bawling and just told me
you knocked for guys out in one game. I know
you balled in the high school. So why Frederick Douglas though,
Because I, um, well, for one so I grew up
in UM and like full stroke capital heist area, So
how could I describe that? So that's real close to
like real close to d C where where I go back.

And so my mom thought that if we moved like
away to the Marborough would seem to be better that
you know, I go to a better high school, being
a better situation. Um, and I was real close to
my coaches, you know what I'm saying. I actually I
started playing back. I was a basketball player at first.
I hoo like that DC Assault team that, like Beasley
and everybody, we all came through the scene. You know,

I just grew this way and they you know, yeah,
they grew this way. I know about that team though.
I heard of that team for show. Yeah. Man, it
was it was so many of us that came, you know,
came to do less Snell to play the dude and
then played it for the Blade. I mean it was
the list goes on, man, amount of cats of King
and played through that through that AU team. But um,
(13:07):
that's what it was. Man. I kind of started off
playing basketball and I end up playing football because just
the violence of the physicality of it, Like I just
love football more. Right, That's that's what's up. So you
you get to your junior year. Right, you know what
I'm saying, you're really balling all conference and stuff. How
was your recruiting process for the league? How do you
know you was ready? I mean even Frederick Douglas, that's
(13:29):
not l s U Alabama nowhere, Like how you judge that? Like, Man,
I'm ready to go to the league already, I'm I'm
How was that recruiting process? So? I um so the
school that I went to was probably about twenty minutes
from the University of Maryland. Um I went my sophomore year.
I went to University of Maryland. Like, they have the
best high schools at d C Meryllal Virginia. You know,
the whole area. So all the best high school players
(13:50):
will go into this three D champ So that will
put me on the map my sophomore year and I
went there and started shredding the camp up. They moved
me from the sophomores up to the scene and I'm
walking off the field and they said, man, we want
you to come here. I'm a hundred seventy five pounds Midimi.
I'm soaking wet on the seting five pounds. They said, man,
we want you to come here. And I've reverbally committed.
(14:11):
I didn't even go on any visits, even though I
had offers from you know, every big school that was
in the country, and I just love even took in
the visits. You just that's that's where you was, huh.
I just man, there's no way I was going to
any like, come on, if I go to if I
go to take a trip to Miami and go to
that visit, lets it's overway for for real. So you
(14:37):
come in the league. What I'm saying you you had
him ten sacks, ten tackles on loss, the forrest fumbles,
three or four forest fumbers. You weren't that rookie of
the year. So as that season going on, right, you
can see your numbers? Of course who else was the
defensive players that year? You was like, man, they kind
of come into they on my heels. Who was it?
I would say, probably I was looking at the most
(15:00):
is the markets? Umwhere? And I'll tell you why, because, um,
before the draft, you know, you go fly to see
the teams and all that, right, Um yeah, And so
I flew out and dialed the Cowboys. They flew me
out along with their first top fifteen picks. Where they're
looking at get it market. Fears is out there, and
(15:20):
Travis Johnson's were all pac Man. We all out there,
and so we're in the locker room downstairs, and then
Jerry Jones and Bill Parcels they send somebody downstairs to
get me by my you know, just me and everybody
else down Then they brought me up in the room.
They said, hey, we got the leventh pick. We don't
think you're gonna be here. We think you gonna end
up somewhere in the top five. But if you if
(15:41):
you're there, we're gonna we're gonna draft you. So I'm thinking,
like the whole time, I'm going to the cow after
the meeting, I'm thinking, I'm one of the Cowboys, like
you know, and my family back in the d n
V area either at the time it ran Skins that
watching football team, or you were a Cowboys fan, so
you were either either one. So I had have the
family happy as hell and I was going on the Cowboys.
(16:03):
Another half who would you know, watching fans hated it. Right,
So um draft came and left pick came up, the
charges head twelve left pick came up, and then they
called the markets where name so I'm sitting there like
you just you can hear a pin drop in there. Yeah.
So well everybody's like, oh you know what happened? What
you know going on? Um? But the charges told me
(16:26):
that if I was at the twelve pick that they
was gonna pick me too, right, So I had of
the charge out. So now I'm closely watching. I'm watching
the markets and I'm like people just do from toy State,
why exactly? Like and nice? You know, the markets was nasty.
So so I always watched him, especially early on in
the Brookie rookie year. Oh yeah, that's that's what that's up.

That's so you you had a chance to play for
all these legendary defensive coaches man uh Shanheimer who we
got on here, nor Turner, Wave Phillips made listen you
know I want with that? Hey, well what who was
the one though? Who was the one? You was? Like?
I learned the most from it, man. I like the
system the most. He had the vibe vibe in the most.
(17:08):
Who was the one for you? He MANA wait, man,
I'm telling you, come on, man, like if you can't
even for me, like you can't even speak bad, I
wouldn't even let anybody talk bad about Wait, ever I
got anything bad, I feel the same way, bro, you know,
like it was something about way man like. And I
didn't realize that when I was coming into how how
spoiled that was really I came to the locker room.
(17:31):
Then you got Marty shot Ham as your head coach,
Way Phillips is your decordinator, John Porgando and and Greag
Monosky of my linebacker coaches. So I'm sitting there, I
got potentially, you know, four or five head coaches right there,
and I'm talking to every day. Um and Wade Man
was just by him like if you did something great,
(17:53):
that's what you don't do. Like he wanted you to
win all the time, so if you ever did something wrong.
I remember at Blitz one time I was supposed to
become in the flats, but I thought I was gonna
just gonna take off and get it. And my my
whole thing was if I could make the play, IM
gonna make it. They ain't gonna say nothing, so they
left me up block. They threw the ball quick in
the flats and I think they've got a first down
(18:14):
on a touchdown, and I remember looking that way when
I got on the sideline of us. Damn, you know,
like he I was, so he was so disappointed that
he didn't just give you that look right, that look man,
but like you heard your grandpa life like, and I
have disappointed my dad or something. Right, hey, I know
exactly what look you're talking about. Man. Wait, that's for
(18:36):
me too. Man. It was he didn't ask guys that
do nothing they can't do right, And then I feel
like he had a knack of finding what you do best.
I'm gonna make you do that ship all game and
keep you in that position right there, man, So the
way it always put you in the in the position
to win, bro, that's the that's that's real ship. When
I when I came in, I came in late because
(18:57):
I had a contract, this dispute. And actually then the
first time I came in, no all season or nothing.
It was like the third day of real training camp.
And there it was the first day had passed. So
I didn't know what I couldn't pick up on the playball.
This is all everything that I had was foreign to me. Um,
And so we got back after I didn't know were
lined up and when when I was going and when
(19:18):
I was dropping. So they Wave Wave brought me in
the back along with the rest of the coaches. He said, Sean,
sea ball, go ball. And I said, I said, coach,
what you're talking about? He said, sea ball, go ball.
We'll line you up wherever the ball is. I want
you to end up there. That was my playbooks, like
the first three or four games. Yeah, you know, and
that was like that was Wave man. And you don't
(19:39):
you don't find a lot of coaches who would do that,
you know what I'm saying. Some coaties might be like, Man,
you need to learn this playbook and you ain't gonna
be in the game. Do you know this playbook the
way He's just gonna put you in a in a
in a position to succeed. Man. So, uh, the Chargers,
the Chargers, they didn't they didn't move to l A.
I know you were super involved in that city. Man.
That was you know you San Diego to the t
(20:00):
How you felt about that move man? Initially, Man, I
wanted a team to stay there with in San Diego
because yeah, um, I just felt like with a new stadium,
and you know what, when if you bring a stadium
to a city, Man, it's already nice and get stuff
built around and people gonna come. I mean, it's just
it's what it is. And so San Diego was kind
of like my home. I was twenty years old. I
(20:21):
got drafted there, so me coming into being a man
for the first time, and they learned how to do
stuff as really an adult, which being Diego. So of
course I wanted a team to be there. But once
I saw that then was it just wasn't no possibility.
You know, it just wasn't gonna happen. I was okay
with it because, um, you know, they needed a new stadium.
They had to grow, you know, brought a fan base,
(20:43):
had to be in a better position. And as a
business as a businessman, you sit back and say, okay,
you gotta you gotta make these moves in order to grow. Yeah,
that's play there there. They definitely had to make that
play right there. Uh these charges nowadays, these current charges, man,
how you feel about him? They got a chance. They
contenders what they're gonna do, you know. Um So you know,
(21:06):
I was fortunate up like when I came to the
locker room, Drew Brieves to start it and put it
up with the backup. So when I tell you, man,
I was spoiler coming into the NFL, just walking into
the locker room, and I got these dudes there, right,
so you so spoiler. So then you get a chance
to play with Phillip basically what joining my career. So
you look for that quarterback, man, like you gotta have
(21:27):
a quarterback there that you know they can pass the
torch and they carry the carry the organization for another
five and ten plus years. And so I feel like
they got they got him there in justin Herbert like that,
Like he's a he's a special breed man. He's a
special with and you look at him, his stature and
when I when I met him, he was still kind
(21:47):
of quiet a little bit. He's still trying to get
you know, in the field. Now he's taking charge of
the team, and they got everybody like behind him, like
this dude is special, man, He's real special. Yeah, that's
that's that's good to hear. That's exactly what I see. Two. Man,
I think they definitely got a chance. That defense, That
defense can get top notch, you know what I'm saying,
if they once they get healthy and they all that
(22:10):
secondary is all on the field at the same time
for multiple games in the row. That defense can really
turn the corner. And they got a championship type defense,
championship type O line, and definitely a championship type quarterback. Man.
So I love where the charges going. I love where
they're going at. I love what direction they are in
right now. Um, m v P mid season we have
(22:31):
about week eight, weeks seven, Week eight, Man, who you
like MVP mid season? You know what? Man? Um? I
don't know when the last time this happened, but I
would say Dirk Henry, Yeah, like, And I played with
LT Man, so I see different side of running backs
to whatnot man, but at that position nowadays because so
(22:55):
so much of an emphasis on throwing the football. And
so when you got one of these generational dudes that's
that big, that's strong, that fast and putting up these
limpers like this is these appro dudes. He's hundred and
twenty plus yards a week, you know, like that, man.
(23:16):
But people don't understand. And I was there with LT
broke the touchdown record No. Six and I got a
chance to experience being around some greatness. Man. But when
he's on man, he's on the path of like yards
or something. It's like third season in a row with
two thousand type. I'm with you, man, I'm with you.
It's beyond Offensive Player of the Year now, Man, you
(23:37):
gotta give him his m VP. Man, don't always gotta
be a quarterback. Even though Kylor is looking crazy, right's
lighting up? He lighten it up. Man, you got a
couple of people, like you said, justin lightening it up,
Josh Allen, lightening it up. Time, lightening it up again.
So it's gonna be hard to beat out all them quarterbacks. Man,
I guess that's why they created the Offensive Player of
the Year little trophy for you. So he gonna end

up getting that. Oh well, defensive Player of Year who
you like so far? I mean, I like Gigs, but
you know Myles Garrett, you know like I don't. For one,
He's they're not playing great right now as a team.
So sometimes it's hard to stand down when you're when
your overall team. It's not because it's they always want

to give an individual award to the best team awards.
But what he's doing right now, man, this is generational stuff.
Like I'm not a small dude myself. You know when
I played it, I'm not you know, a small dude,
But I seen him. I was playing in Jovish Landry
softball Turkey softball tournament like two three years ago. So
this is my first time seeing Myles Garrett Miles in person.

I'm I'm six four, I'm to sixty five, you know
what I'm Yeah, but I've seen him, and I'm like, yo, man,
hold on, I'm like, hold on, dude, it's a big dude.
So you don't and imagine him move out there moving
like that, you know, like the movement, the tackle, d
n and if this if his office is putting up

you know, twenty four plus points a game, and he
got more snapped to pass rush on the who knows
what did end up with exactly? I would say here
one and then and then digs. I'm dollar, I'm dollars too. Yeah.
They both gotta finish, man, I like, I like those
