What year was literally the only thing I have?

Speaker 6 (02:16):

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I never I can't one of these.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I'm so chellous.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
It was probably like I'm not sending this to Barry.
He's just gonna it's gonna end up in his grandma.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
That is so. Those gifts were honestly, like, so thoughtful.
I think, yes, well okay some of them. Some of
them you were like, what, but I don't remember that.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Because they were America two thousand, two thousand and one.
I should have gotten one of those show them.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
I'm not sure.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Literally, all I have is a teen choice.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Any of this. I have my teen choice. You get
let's got one?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Okay, I got Why do you have to? I got
one for because he's the most Okay, so you do
have to?

Speaker 1 (03:01):
No, I don't was ensemble Wait, so you have one.
I don't have an ensemble one. I don't think ensemble
one that was if it was two thousand, you were there.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Because I remember our pictures.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
Hold on, let's wikipedia this.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Okay, we need to focus.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
I was supposed to spoke three because one year you
want to go, and when you don't go, they don't
give you.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
The bigas well. Here's Reception Artist Awards.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
I got one of those, maybe two.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
Those are my mom's artists. For sure that.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
It's a gold thing.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Look at this. So we won you Marry You one
two thousand and two. Yep, David, you won in two
thousand and three for Choice Actor and TV Drama. I
did George one, TV Choice.

Speaker 6 (03:51):
Breakout Star and three he was a breakout easy.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Oh my god, I keep looking more nominated, nominated, nominated.
I don't see the ensemble one. So how do you
have a choice award?

Speaker 1 (04:04):
But I.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
TV cho choice drama action adventure. We won thousand two. Yeah,
that's not one and two thousand and three. See yeah,
ensemble for two three? You got an individual, George got
an individual.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
I only carry my individual from O three.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
I have the show one from O two, and I
have my individual one from three, but I don't have
the show one from most.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
I'm missing.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Mine does not look like that. It's a different powern
So maybe I think it's so three.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Oh, maybe we didn't all get one every time.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
Maybe somebody should go through the young artist towards.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Okay, we need to focus now, let's.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Go Sorry, well this is material, but we need to
do the Yeah, right, Okay, I'll do the inter this time.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
Barry does it.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Okay, Arry doesn't know what to say, which is actually perfect.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
Verry's going to do the intro.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
You do it, kick us off, Bear, Hey, everybody, Barry
Watson here, and I'm here with every Mitchell, David Gallagher
and Kensey Rossman.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And what is this called catching up with a can?

Speaker 1 (05:08):
This is call we're here called catching up with the
cam Dens. And I'm not really sure why I'm here.
I thought I was here for craft service today, but
all I brought was some almonds and like one of
those kettle bars or whatever.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
They're okay, well we do have some things.

Speaker 6 (05:23):
Ten out of ten intro.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
That was that was actually fantastic, Thank you very much.
By the way this was talking, Catherine was supposed to
be here, but she she had she had go.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah, she had to go pick up Katie. So so
nothing's changed, and Katie drives and she lives on her own,
but Catherine's got to go pick her up.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Actually, you know what, she had to go pick up
her dog.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I named Katie. Everything that Catherine has at our house
is named Katie. How she does that's how she gets
out of things. It's like, I gotta get Katie.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
So what is your phone's member?

Speaker 4 (06:03):
So wait, let's hear no, we'll do it like this right, okay, Barry,
tell the story of getting onto our show, and like
maybe the earlier however far you want to go, but
like your version of the story.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
What's the story of South Heaven?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Up for me?

Speaker 3 (06:18):
You for you?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Oh gosh, okay, So during that time, I guess it
was what it was ninety five we did the pilot
ninety six, Oh no, I know. I turned twenty one
during the pilot though, which was so it had to
be ninety five.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
It was ninety six because I.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Turned twenty one on ninety five. Yeah, but maybe it
didn't air till ninety six anyway, So I was during
that time, I was just really kind of like breaking
in to the business. I was doing a lot of
recurring guest stars stuff like that. You know, people were
starting to notice me, and so I could tell at

(06:52):
that time like something was about to click, something was
going to hit for me, and I was up for
a bunch of different things, like you know, because just
before Seventh Heaven came about, you could see there was
like a lot of influx of like younger generation shows
that were being created. So I remember I was doing

(07:13):
Malibu Shore was a spelling show that was short lived
on NBC, and I was playing this like long haired
guy who like raped people, yes, And so I was
always playing like these really nasty, dirty dudes. And so
I got this script for Seventh Heaven, and I was

(07:33):
just like, what the heck is, why did Aaron send
me this script? You know, I'm working on this other
show for him. I'm playing this dirt bag and this
guy's like a minister's son. He's like, oh good. But
they wrote this this line in there about the hair,
so they must be wanting something about I think they
want me for this.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
They wanted your hair for sure, yeah, because.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
There hadn't already written in about the hair. And I
was like the At that time, there wasn't a lot
of young actors that had long hair, and I remember
I kind of stood out in a way because of that.
So I go in and I ended up getting the
offer for it, and I'll never forget My manager, Mary Goldberg,
was like, don't do it. Really, she said don't do it,

(08:15):
and I said I'm broke. She's like, no, don't do it. No,
she didn't say it would never make it. She was
just saying, there's other stuff out there that's coming your way,
got it, And she wanted me to be patient, and
I was not because I was broke. I mean, I
wasn't broke. I mean I was. I think I had
money coming in from commercials like residuals and stuff like that,

(08:37):
because it had like a sunny toight commercial and so
I had money coming in. But I remember when you
do a pilot like that, you're on hold for a
while yep, you can't go and do another show really
without getting permission from you know, the production company. And
so we did the pilot and it got picked up,

(08:58):
and I remember having to borrow money from my manager
at the time because I couldn't pay my bills until
I got that first episode paycheck. And I remember, you know,
Mary still like going, I don't know why you.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
While she's paying your bills, like I told you, what
are you doing?

Speaker 1 (09:19):
And then it was just sort of I think I
was one of the first ones cast. Actually, I think
from what I remember, maybe I'm making this up. If
I am, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
That's okay. We've done a lot of that already.

Speaker 6 (09:31):
Yeah, I've been stories.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
So you guys have been making this whole thing up.
And so now the reason I'm here is to find
out how it really happened.

Speaker 6 (09:41):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Oh yeah, because you just talked to Catherine and Catherine
doesn't remember a thing. I'm kidding, no, But I think
I was one of the first people cast. And then
I remember hearing about you guys. I didn't know who
you guys were or no, David, I think I remember
because of the movie that you did. Yeah, Phenom and

(10:05):
and you were like all the other kid from that
And then I remember going to I think it was
at the spelling office. Is the first read through? Yeah,
and we were still waiting to I think, have Catherine
and Stephen's deals finalized. I don't know if you guys
remember this. We were all waiting around.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Yeah, I remember we were waiting for somebody.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
We were waiting for Stephen and Catherine because their deals
weren't signed yet.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
No, they came into the read there. We were all
there waiting and they came in kind of last.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
No, because because they hadn't signed their contracts yet, and
we were at that we were going to start the
read through until their stuff was signed. You guys are
remember this.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
That's that makes a lot of sense and actually seems
like waiting for Catherine to come in.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yes, yes, it's never stopped.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
You know what she was early. Yeah, it was like
we didn't know what to do with ourselves. Everything's changed now,
it's weird for her, it's kind of strange. But she
also she left like on target, yes the way, yes. Yeah,
so that was just.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Oh I'm done, bye, yeah, goodbye, ye hugs, great seeing
you guys.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah, but she did say goodbye and we'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
You know, how was it working on a show with
so many child actors?

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Well, when you did work, well, most of the time
I was talking to c stands or on the walls
or whatever with you know.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Barry probably knows our color is better than we do.

Speaker 6 (11:33):
Do you remember all of our colors?

Speaker 1 (11:35):
I've blocked that all out, you guys. Yeah, I've blocked
it all out, Okay, because let me get to where
I'm going to. So no, So, yeah, I didn't work
with you guys a lot. But I think I remember
when I thought you guys were all cute, you know
what I mean, Like when we did the pilot, I
was like, oh, this is so cute. I'm like part
of this, like little TV family is so weird, you know.

(11:55):
And but I remember after I finished, I was offered
stuff and I would not do stuff with uh with
minors for.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
A while because we ruined you.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
No, it was just because I was like, I I
want to work with the people I'm supposed to be
working with, not just listening to Lynn off camera feeding
your guys' lines or don done or don don don
Oh my god. She would get down and she would
get down like like you like it was supposed to

(12:31):
be you, and.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
I was like Maxis like yeah, and her life.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Readings were so good, but yeah, it's I mean, it's
not the same as happening like seeing the eyes of
the fellow actor when you've done your their close up
or the master and then you just don't have it
for them. So you just kind of like, Okay, what
was there close up? Like when they were looking at me,
and I just tried to kind of like pretend that
the little X on the c stand of the wall

(12:59):
was those eyes, your eyes.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
I think you definitely celebrated when I finally turned eighteen
and was like I could be there all.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Day with you.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Well, I knew that it was going to take some
hours off off of me. Yeah, and that was nice
because Yeah, the first couple of seasons, I mean I
was working. I was there for eighteen hours every day
every day.

Speaker 6 (13:20):
I was seven.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
I was usual only three adults, yeah, exactly, and Stephen
and Catherine were just like you're Stephen. I mean, he
as nice as he tried to be about this crap.
He would come up to me. It was the same
spiel every time, Hey listen, so I'm are you okay
if I if I am, and he'd be like, maybe

(13:44):
getting ready, are you okay? If you know? Maybe I
just you know, I'm not there for your Yeah, go ahead,
go do. It was already gone. Kar didn't even ask,
She's just gone. So that is just me. And then
we're just trying to figure out how to shoot more

(14:05):
stuff with me to get the day done. And so
I shoot a bunch of my close ups and stuff
like that. It was hard, but it also I felt
like I was really, really really bonded with the crew. Yeah,
you know, you know, I'm the one on Fridays I
take all the crew out for drinks and stuff like
that down the street. And or I think Larry Humburger

(14:29):
he had a margarita machine. And then Joe what's his name,
the one producer he got rid of the camera truck
margarita machine that sucked.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
There was a bar nearby that like I remember what Yeah,
once I was able to like go and I was
like I remember feeling like so grown up with everybody.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Oh yeah, no, it was cool. And Sam Fruisco Saloon,
I remember, uh they had great chicken fingers and Carla
was all was like, oh the chicken fingers with honey mustard,
and I was like, I know, they're so good.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Yeah, story about when you finally like tried to have Oh.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
I remember at one of the late in the game,
we were at a WB event some and I don't
remember for what or which one, if it was an
end of season even or a start of season vend
or whatever it was, but I remember I was drinking
and I was like, Berry, have a drink with me,
and you looked at me and you went nope, And
then he turned around me ran.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
You ran away from.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Me, and I was like, Verry, come on, are you
of age?

Speaker 3 (15:37):
I don't remember. I don't think you were.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
And this is why, like I always was like you know, I.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
I was, you know, I want to say that I was, though,
because that's why I asked like I was trying to.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
I was like, look, you can, we could do this now,
and you were like no.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
But the one thing I always had I always did, though,
is I always wanted to because I felt like, and
maybe I'm wrong, that you guys actually did kind of
look up to me as like an older brother, and
I did. I always as goofy as I was, and whatever,
I always I knew I was somewhat of a role
model for you guys. Maybe maybe not sure, but you know,

(16:17):
but I always like I was always on time work,
I was never late, I always knew my lines. I
always did this. I always tried to show up and
be a good example for you guys because you know,
I don't know why, but it seemed like a good
idea because it seems like you guys needed like maybe
an older a real older brother figure to just try

(16:40):
to hopefully, you know, set an example. And you know,
I mean I wasn't perfect, just like I'm none of no,
but it was it was I remember being younger and
having an older brother, and having an older sibling is
kind of a cool thing.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Actually.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
I think you were a prime example of being professional
but then also being able to have fun. Yeah, and
the environment on set and your relationship, watching you interact
with the crew and how you would always interact with us,
but like as soon as we were ready to shoot,

(17:18):
like you were able to like pull it right back in.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
No, I'd always just turn it off, and like I
turn off whatever was good I was doing on and
I try to just hit it. Yeah, absolutely, and then
I go back.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
To me and I think that was the big lesson
that I think that I did take from you, though,
was that you were always present.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
You had a presence on set. Everybody loved you.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
You were always friendly and fun and like laughing and
having a good time, even if not like you know,
because there's days, especially on a set that's long running,
like you know, you're gonna have good days and bad days,
and not every day is fun or great, but you
were always like positive, in a good mood, ready to
have fun.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
You got to figure out ways to keep enjoying yourself
because otherwise you're gonna get yourself into like this miserable
place of like.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
And to extend that relationship to the crew and not
just to us, which wasn't was a great but was
something I took from you that I always tried to
take to other sets and to always treat the crew
like friends and where they're having the day with you
and needed to laugh and have fun.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Well, I you know, I always I've always approached my
work is like I don't take myself too serious. I
take my work seriously, but I don't take myself too seriously.
And that's how I always try to approach my work.
Is sort of that way, if you can have fun
and still get you know, the work done.

Speaker 6 (18:40):
And I think that's the perfect way to be on
a set.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
It's a great way for an actor to be because
and most actors get that wrong.

Speaker 6 (18:47):
You take the work seriously, but not well.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I haven't. There's an example. It's funny because I did
this movie in New Zealand and well, hopefully I'm not
giving away no, but I was working in New Zealand
and I was working and with this actor and I
just remember and I was kind of on that that
shoot sort of the same way that we were, and
I got really close with all the crew and probably
I got closer with the crew than the cast. I

(19:12):
truly did. And I just remember him coming up to
me going can I talk to you. I was like, yeah,
it's going on. He's like, so you talked to the
crew a lot. I was like, yeah, yeah, I do.
Why He's like, well, I don't. I don't. I've never
worked with anybody who talks to the crew. I was like,
obviously I worked that much, because how can you not

(19:37):
talk to the crew. They're in your face like one hundred.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
I mean, that's what you're dealing with the time when
you look past the camera and he's like.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Yeah, that's just not my thing, you know, to do that.
I was like, oh, okay, well sorry, I'm just whatever.
But what was great is a month later, at the
very end of the shoot, who is there at the
back of the camera truck having a beer with me
and some of the other crew. This actor like so
he kind of like came around. He came around and

(20:08):
he was like, hey man, yeah, here's some beers, you
know whatever, just celebrating the end of a long, hard
week where everybody you know, did what they're supposed to
be doing, and.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
It makes you a better actor and a better maybe
Like there's the being an actor is about what you
do for the camera that ends up on the screen,
but it's also who you are on set to that.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
I have to something to say.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
A lot of actors don't like watching themselves on screen,
and like I was that way initially, but the truth is,
like I still don't like seeing my face, but I
want to see the whole production. I want to see
how the lighting turned out, how the camera, and how
everybody else did. So you could just get past that
because there's so much more to it. Than just your
like stupid performance, Like there's the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah, and that's what I.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Want to be, Like, oh my god, look at the wardrobe.
It's such a great job.

Speaker 5 (20:56):
And just like yeah, anyways, that's my point.

Speaker 6 (21:03):
But yeah, like get over.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
You have to you can't take you through what you
don't like to see things on set, which we've all
come across or worked with people that act out in
some way. They either aren't prepared for what they're supposed
to do that day, or they're really not happy with
themselves and so they feel like they need to act
out on somebody else or how whatever they need to do.

(21:26):
I mean most of the times when I see these
people that act out on sets, because I was like, Okay,
they just show up and they're not prepared and it's
everybody else's fault. Yeah, you know, it's everybody, and everybody
has a bad day where I'm like I just can't
remember this speaking, why can I get this line out today?

Speaker 2 (21:45):
And I think it's about being able to have grace
in those moments and know that even the people who
are the most prepared and are always like have their
stuff together, like sometimes we fail.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
We have.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
And I think also being on a set in which
we all were able to pick up the slack for
each other one needed was also magical because you know,
just down the way there were other sets that were
not as welcoming and didn't have like the relationship.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
And I remember people but always come being like, we.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Wish we could come work with you guys, because you
guys look like you're having fun.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
The personal bar too, it like is your own ego?

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Yeah, so well, when you're hired for something and you
show up, you know, look, the director sets the tone,
or the showrunner sets the tone, or the lead actor
sets the tone. It's like you got to show up
for jobs and be an asset for that production. Yep,
you know what I mean. You know that's what you are.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
And you know we're sorry that we weren't more with
you with those first few.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Seas way, and by the way, there was no I
never had like problems with you guys. I was always
happy because I really was like, and you guys probably
don't remember this. I was like, get out of here,
go be a kid. No you always I would say,
I always say that, gun here go be.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
A care I remember I was actually excited when I
turned eight team because I felt like, I'm like Arry,
I'll play I'll play other parts like I'll be because
I just remember also feeling like being able to be
excited that I could participate more and then I could
show up and be a team player.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Yeah, I could carry it for eighteen hours.

Speaker 6 (23:29):
Bear.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Yeah, I was like, I'm like, Barry, you it's seventeen hours,
you can go home.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
I'll take one.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
That's why. I don't know if you guys remember this.
Soone the episodes that I directed, there was one day
that I don't know if you guys remember this, but
I got us done in like six hours, six hours,
I think I remember. It was basically I was thinking
about it was because I always felt like this show
can always shoot so much quicker.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
And the reason why at the beginning we didn't because
Joe Wanstein, Joe Joe Wallston. Yeah, he always wanted second meal,
always wanted second He would keep things going all day
and the second meal was always stick. I'll never forget this.
And I was like, no, no, no, no, no, let's keep going.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
We never read it.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
Like every second meal was always soup.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
No, it was stak, it was always Joe was producer
He was just like, and I look like, good Joe,
we we don't need second meal? What do you do?
Let wanta Jose go doing. We can get this. I'm like, dude, how.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
About the Christmas meals?

Speaker 3 (24:44):
Oh? Those were always good. Those were always the big elabrary.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Yes, Christmas was it?

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Lobster and oh yeah, dwelling.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Not everyone got you know that every day there was Yeah,
it was last every and would make an appearance.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
I think I would.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
Down the street.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
I'd be like, I enjoy the holiday, guys. I'm gonna
go have some socking and eat.

Speaker 6 (25:14):
And we'll be right back.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
Do you remember that little I just don't know why
I thought of this just now, that little piece of
concrete that was like through the gateway to get to
the Camden backyard, that had all of our handprints on it,
that they made.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Us to like right at the beginning. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Someone must have saved.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Right through there. Yeah, there is.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
The little thing.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
It was like when you step through the garden gate
to get to the backyard.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
I didn't put my hand I think there were.

Speaker 5 (25:44):
Only three handprints.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I refuse. I was like, I'm going home. How the
kids do it?

Speaker 6 (25:54):
You were one of the kids.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Yeah, I put Happy Paw there.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
I think I think it was there.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
Yeah, I don't remember that though I do, I don't.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
I just remember that awful backyard. It looked so fake.
That was so fake.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
We were saying that, like in the beginning, Remember, David.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Plan was just like the backyard, I don't want to
make it look real. Yeah, He's like, I'm ap, how do.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
I work with you guys come from the house. That's
I guess over there.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Yeah, it was always you guys, don't remember. There's always
talks with uh set deck, uh, the construction and David
Plant about that backyard and it never But.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
I remember we were saying, how like our show was
so we were so efficient in the way that TV
shows were back then that like in the beginning, we
had a few locations that we would go to once
in a while, and then as soon as it was
the first year, Yeah, but then they as soon as
they figured out which locations we were going to use
all the time, they just built them on the set
and we had the pool hall.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
When they start building the sets, that means you're going
to come back for another season, because that costs money
to keep on building more sets. Its ends up being
like that means they know that the sets is going
to be here for this next season.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Yeah, they're gonna get on the set.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Yeah, I said, when you stop going on occasion they
start building sets, that's when you're gonna you know that
the show is doing well. Yeah, because they don't want
to start throwing money into like building all that stuff,
storing it, you know over you know were.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
You've heard of the musical episodes, We're still like, I
feel like I have a mental blood.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
Are you there when when we did the musical stuff?

Speaker 3 (27:36):
I think, did you die?

Speaker 1 (27:39):
I don't think I did because I didn't want to
do that, but I had.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
A like panic and like because I was in that
one of those episodes.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
And I was like no, because you know what we remember,
I left after season six and then I came back
and you directed. I wrote an episode, directed a couple
and then I came back I think for season.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
I'm something something.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
Like ten episodes in season nine or something where they
just had me to do a phone call. It was,
it was. It was basically all what I went through
the first couple of seasons they were made up for.
I came in like once a week for like an
hour and did like a phone call and I was like,
this is because yeah, you went at medical school and
they really wanted me to come back. I said, look,

(28:28):
I'll come back, but like, but what do you what
am I supposed to be doing. I'm in New York.
My characters in New York. And so I remember Branda
was like, she's like, look, you just come in once
a week, you do a phone home and I was like, yeah,
sign me up.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
We made up for yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
That was That was probably the best gig I had
going on.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Was because you're the only one that actually had this experience.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
How was it actually writing on episode of seventh Heaven.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
Well, let's be honest about this, because the episode I
wanted to write that's what I want, nothing to do
with what the story arc was, for what the season was.
And so I just remember kind of coming up with
this idea because I really wanted to put Stephen in
like a pickle costume. Yeah. I just kind of wanted

(29:21):
to with Steve a little bit for some reason. I
don't even know why. And I was like, Stephens like
a pickle and it had to do with like the kids,
and he lost some bad I can't remember what it was,
and so I started getting this, Yeah, this is not
what we're doing. Oh, She's like, you have to stick

(29:41):
with what the whole story. I said, it's hard to do, Brenda,
I said, because I kind of just want to with everybody.
I just kind of just do something that was just
so outside of what the Seventh Heaven norm was. Because
when I was working on it, I was always trying
to come up with my own ideas just to make
it interesting for myself to play Matt, you know, yeah,

(30:03):
because sometimes like oh I got a message or freaking
boar more interesting for me. Yeah, And so I think
that's when I had that writing, which basically Brandon Branda
wrote the good chunk of that. I mean, I think
I did some of the dialogue and stuff. Dialog I'm
good with when I write. I'm good with dialogue. I'm

(30:26):
really really good. I'm modest.

Speaker 6 (30:34):
Everything.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
I was like, good living. I just throw it out there.
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
I do remember some Zingers sometimes like would we be
in sing like sometimes you'd like throw something in it.
I would always make me break like you It would
be like, well, that was.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Always what I was trying to do. I was just
trying to make everybody. I was trying to just make
everybody break, Like I would sit there and make Stephen
break all the time.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
It was all the time, and they loved ad libbing
on our show.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Yeah, well, Steve and I had that that fake sort
of alter ego show called Bucky in the.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
Ref about this at all, but go ahead and give it,
give a like I don't talk about.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
That, you think it might get made one day?

Speaker 6 (31:20):
Okay, a little bit of context for Bucky in the
rev found in the rep shirts.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
So that was like I was just I think there
was one of those days I was just like bored
and just trying to come up with like ways to
entertain myself, and so I just started telling everybody to
start calling me Bucky.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
You know.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
I was like, from now on, you guys all call
me Bucky. And then I was like and then I
started messing around with Steven one day. I was like, man,
I want to be great if it was like like
we had the spinoff for the show and it was
like fucking in the rav and He's like, that's a genius,
it's great, and so he wrote a song about it.
I probably have it on my phone somewhere. He wrote
a song like a theme song in the Red.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
I don't think I knew that.

Speaker 6 (32:06):
That's excellent.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
I don't know how I can find it. I probably
have it on my device somewhere. I don't know, somebody.
I'll send it to you guys.

Speaker 6 (32:15):
From what I remember, was it Bucky and the Rev.
That was like your alter egos that like you, He was.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
The Rev by day, yeah, and then by night.

Speaker 6 (32:25):
You guys were like we all boiled detectives.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
Yes, yes, yes, cops can't get it done when the
cops and the cops can't get it done, like Bucky
and the Rocky and the Rev.

Speaker 6 (32:35):
Yeah, right, and so this was like your.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Day if you're detected by night?

Speaker 1 (32:39):
What was your day was? But night I'm Bucky.

Speaker 6 (32:45):
Yeah, he was like superhero.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Yeah. He couldn't call me like Son or anything or Matt.
He had to call me Bucky. And we were we
got and you got it done.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
You guys, like I imagine you guys like slid across
the hoods of cars a lot and stuff like that.
You know, like it was like that kind of like
we tried, We tried, and then you slowly onboarded the
rest of us into the sketch because then we all eventually.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
Brought me that I was never a part of it.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
No, no, you were. You know, Catherine was named like Blaze,
something like her cow. I don't even know. It's something
stupid like that, right, but we made the right So
the T shirts.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Here's the funniest thing still happened.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
So we made all those T shirts with the whole
crew bucking the rab with our faces. I can't remember
who shot it and who did the art for it,
and I think it was one of the stork Maybe
I get somebody, but I'll never forget. Years later, I'm
driving I still lived into Panga Canyon at the time,
and I'm driving up to Panga going home from I

(33:45):
have worked from something else, I think another show was
working on, and there's this guy, like sort of homelessly
guy sitting outside the phone with market and he's wearing
a Bucky in the Rep shirt. And I was like,
holy shit, I'm high, but where'd you get this shirt?
Like a weird and he's just like staring off and

(34:08):
I was just like, oh my god. And I went
in and this guy's wearing a bucket in the red shirt.
So then I called Ronnie High because Ronnie Hide lived
into Pek. Did you get He's like, hey, what's up?
I was like, did you give your bucket in the
red shirt some homeless guy at the fir. He's like, no, no, no,
I was like, oh really, really it just happened. This

(34:29):
guy's has a bucket in the red shirt.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Well, I'm proud to say I still have mine.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
You do, I do?

Speaker 3 (34:37):
I will take a picture.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Oh my god, I wish I still had it. I
wish I had somebody I'd give them, make my kids
wear them.

Speaker 7 (34:43):
Yeah, maybe we should, like I wish I we should
need a rep because they want to be my kids
would be able to tell it's me on the thing.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
They be like, oh, it's a cool te shirt. Dead
thanks man, it's book in the red don't worry about it,
and then maybe forced to wear my face around it.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
We might just have to bring that back, yes, yeah, yeah,
to bring that back.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
Okay, we don't have to go through this entire I
thought it was more just I.

Speaker 1 (35:06):
Thought, since we were visiting grandma's house, we should look
at the photo album because when you visit family, you
look at photo albums.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Right, I am not Grandma there's no more. You've reached the.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Well, we don't. I'm looking forward to finishing. It's been years.
Why aren't there more in here?

Speaker 2 (35:24):
I mean because I just found all the other pictures.
There's plenty, and we will share these all on social media.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
WHOA can I show this episode? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (35:35):
You were on that one.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Yeah, there's my face. Yeah that's me.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Yeah, what is it? Because we realized that?

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Yeah, and then Jesse's right there and she's smiling like
that because she just had she laid one out. Hopefully
she didn't turn her pants on that. This is a
great picture I remember. I don't remember this one. But
by the way, cleavage Jesus boomy McGhee, what's going on

(36:09):
that you were facing really racing photograph? I mean, you've
got this lace thing on. But that's not even start.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
From the w W SHO. That was like part of
the you know that.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
Was like this wasn't c W, because I mean.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Maybe it was c W at that point. I don't
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (36:30):
Where your nipples are, but.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
I mean, this is crazy. I'll never be again.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
