my personal voicemailbox for the Dear Cheekys podcast. I'm here

having issues with your family, or maybe you have a
question about my personal life. Whatever the case is, I
want to hear from you. Remember these are my thoughts
(00:39):
in my opinions, and if you're suffering from a serious
issue or hardship, you should seek help from a qualified professional.
All right, Now, go ahead and leave your message at
the sound of the beeB.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Hey, Cheeky's, it's your girls Intel. I hope you're doing well.
I just wanted to give them any life update. I
don't know if you remember, but I was the one
who submitted the question of out my boyfriend I giving
me the phone password. I got the password, and I
got engaged and I got a car with your help
because you also gave me advice on that. All right,
So I just got done listening to your spiritual Reality
(01:14):
Versus Religion podcast, and I've been pondering with what religion
I want to raise my child in. I empathize with
you in the way that you grew up Christian, went
to Christian Church. But I also empathize in the sense
that I didn't have the best experience within the Christian Church.
And I did attend the Catholic Church as well, and
(01:36):
while I respect a lot of their teachings, there's a
lot that I don't necessarily agree with. So how would
you go about this? Because my fiance was raised Catholic
similar to Emilio, like you expressed, and that's like one
of the biggest conflicts we've been having, you know, for
our future family, like what direction do we want to go?
Speaker 1 (01:59):
So how would you go about it?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
And I'm gonna be nosy. What are you going to
do for your child? Are you going to raise some
Catholic Christian spiritual I want to know? Girl? All right?
Love you, Thank you so much for Awie's answering.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Bye, oh Chantelle. I love, love love the updates. We
love the updates here on dear cheekies guys. So I'm
so happy. Congratulations on your engagement. Congratulations on your car, girl,
Congratulations on that code that past code, love that for you.
I poray for your guys' relationship that it flourishes and
(02:33):
that it's an amazing one. And now about your question.
So I have talked to a media about this and
we have decided that we're going to baptize our child
through the Catholic Church because to him, that's what he did,
he did his first communion, he did the whole thing right,
and I did too, So I'm fine with that. Again,
(02:54):
like I said in that episode, I respect all religions
and I think each religion has some thing really nice.
And as far as church, I think you just have
to try, like kind of like a therapist. You got
to kind of just try it before you knock it
and find the best fit for you. Because there are
a lot of really good churches out there, Catholic and Christian,
(03:14):
and one will resonate more with you than the other.
So I think trying that out first. The biggest and
main thing is obviously having got in your heart, and
you know, faith is the biggest thing. But I do
believe in I want to teach my child everything that
I believe in spirituality and to respect and to love,
(03:34):
and our religion is called love, and that is basically
as far as I'm going to go. I mean, we've
talked about putting our kids in like private schools and
stuff like that, but we're going to cross that bridge
once we get there. But yeah, I think that's what
we're going to do. So I just think as long
as you teach your child about the higher power and
about faith and prayer and the power of prayer, I
(03:56):
think that, to me is one of the most important things,
you know. So you guys will figure it out little
by little. The good thing is you guys are talking
about it now. So that is my opinion, and I
hope my advice helps. And I'm really excited for you.
I'm so excited for you. Thank you so much, Sean
Tell I hope everything works out. Let us know. Okay, okay,
(04:17):
we're gonna move on to an anonymous listener.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Ache Chase and coming on here, datoya. I love doing
music and your podcasts, and I love you. Please never
change for anymore. But I don't like your advice on something.
I'm now twenty seven years old and I still live
with my parents. Nothing wrong with that, but I'd like
to have my own space now. And the only reason
(04:42):
is cause my parents are always arguing about money and
there's times I feel like I'm suffer kidding, I help
out with the bills, don't get me wrong, but it's
just that my dad makes the most money between my
mother and I and the only thing he pays is
the groceries, nothing else, and all the rest of his
money goes towards in Mexico fixing his house, which I
(05:04):
can get. But at the same time, why can't you
help out here? We are living over here. It's a lot,
but I will love your feedback. I hope you have
a nice day.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Thank you well, my beautiful anonymous listener. Yeah, that's to me. Also,
a bit of a problem with your dad is if
he's only paying for groceries. I mean, there's just so
much more that needs to be paid and taken care
of in a household. So I understand your frustration for sure.
Hopefully he's here for many, many more years. But hopefully
(05:38):
your name is on that home in Mexico. Just saying
side note, I think that if you want to move out,
I think you should try it, even if you start
off like a studio renting out of bedroom. There's nothing
nicer than figuring out who you are outside of your parents,
(06:00):
out of your family, And there is this special thing
that happens when you live on your own. You learn
so much about yourself, about life, about budgeting, and if
you're already paying a lot there, then maybe you can
afford to live by yourself. I'm not saying it's going
to be easy. It comes with challenges as well, but
I think you'll have a lot more peace and you'll
feel like all the money that I'm paying is going
(06:22):
towards my comfort and whatever it is that I want
to do and how I want to do it. So
I don't think it's about idea, baby. I think you
should definitely try it, and hopefully if you don't like it,
you can always go back home. But I have a
feeling you're going to love it, and you won't know
that until you try it, So I say try it,
even if you're scared, try it and start off little.
(06:42):
There's no need to go and get a two bedroom
or anything too like extravagant in pisando pokito. Doing a
little bit I think will for sure make you feel
a lot better and not so frustrated, and I hope
it works out. Let us know, please, we love updates,
as you know, so I'm sending you a big hug.
I hope it all works out. Okay, alrighty guys. Last
(07:06):
question comes from Alec.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
But le tiina. I have quite a few questions for you,
but I promise they're quick and they're fun, so hopefully
you'll be able to answer. But I was wondering if you,
your brothers and your sisters, your mom, if you guys
grew up watching the movie Selena, and what were your
guys's favorite songs and how did she impact specifically you
and your mom musically. And then I was also wondering
(07:31):
if you guys also grew up watching the other Mexican
American cult classics like La Bamba, To Stand and Deliver, Me,
Familia Tortia sup American Me. I just I remember growing
up watching those movies and they always really resonated with me,
and I was just wondering, as a fellow Mexican American,
if they had the same impact on your family. Anyways,
can't wait to hear back call me back bye.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
You are so cute. Alec, Thank you so much for
your question. I love it. Absolutely. We watched Selena the movie.
I've watched it so many times, so inspiring, so beautiful,
because I felt like I saw our family in her family.
You know, we identified a lot for so many different reasons.
Obviously it was like a musical family, et cetera. So yes,
huge Lena fans. And my dad was actually a huge
(08:19):
Selena fan. He's the one that introduced me to her
music early on. And I love all of them. Bambam
Dreaming of You.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Love it.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
I mean there, I don't think there's one Selena song
that I don't like. So she's definitely a queen. And
for sure, as far as movies, we watch, La Bamba
my mom loved it. I loved it, Blood and Blood Out,
sat In Deliver, Santa Deliver is one of my favorites.
So for sure, anything that had Edward James olmos is is.
I mean, I really love him as an actor. And yeah,
(08:50):
so for sure we watched a lot of those movies.
It's just I mean I still even I think I'm
gonna watch one tonight. Yeah, or maybe that Loca. I
don't know if you ever watch with the girls love
that one to an Echo Park anyway, But yes, I
watched all those movies with my mom. And thank you,
I really enjoyed this question. Thank you so much. Thank
(09:10):
you to all of you. Thank you, Chantelle. To our
