Welcome back to your favorite podcast – Chiquis and Chill! Today’s episode is all about music. I’ve recently decided to become an intendent artist, so I’ll be sharing more about that. Then, I’ll go into detail about a spiritually-driven writer’s camp I hosted a couple of months ago – we’ll even hear from singer-songwriter Ivanna Danforth about her experience there. Plus, I’ll also be sharing more about what kind of music you can expect from me in the coming months (here’s a hint: it’s music from the soul, for the soul).

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, my beautiful listeners. Welcome to your favorite podcast, Cheek
is in Chill and welcome. If this is your first
time here, welcome. I hope you all are having the
perfect day today. Today has been a really good day
for me because I get to talk to you guys,
which is one of my favorite things to do.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
And I think a lot of you guys are going to.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Really like this episode because it's about music and writing
and creativity and I know a lot of you are
aspiring singers and songwriters, and so I want to shed
some light on what the process looks like for me.
I did share a little bit about my writing camp
in an episode of Sincerely Janee in June, so if
you haven't checked out that episode, go ahead and do

(00:42):
that now or after this. They're really short and intimate episodes,
which I love because I get to share with you
guys what I'm feeling in the moment while I'm on
the go. Anyway, let's get into this episode. Some of
you might know this already. I've mentioned it a little bit,
but I'm actually independent now, guys. Independent not as independent woman,

(01:04):
well that too, kind of, but independent as a musician,
as a singer, I am no longer signed to Phono Visa,
which makes me sad because I love them very much.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
I'm so grateful.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
They were also my mom's record label, and I loved
being a part of the company. I won my three
Latin Grammys with them. I'm so grateful. But I just
needed to do this for my soul. I wanted to
have creative control.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
And with a company.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
That big, they give you advances, they invest a lot
of money, and so they have a huge say in
the creative process and they need to make their money back.
So for them, it's let's not move away from what's
already working. And I decided to do exactly that Banda

(01:58):
has been working for me. I love band that, I
always will love bond that. It does not mean that
I'm not going to sing ban that anymore. I love
regional Mexican music. I love all types of music. I
just had this feeling, this desire in the depths of
my heart that would not let me rest since last year,

(02:21):
and I needed to do this. So I wanted to
take my music in a completely different direction. And so
it's not that they weren't supporting it. For them, it's
how are we going to give you in advance, and
they were going to give me the biggest deal of
my life as an artist of my caliber, but I
just I couldn't. I was like, no, I want to

(02:44):
change my music. And they were hesitant and they were worried,
and I understand that, which is why I decided to
walk away from that deal and say yes to myself.
Of course I could have used that money. That money
could have helped me with a lot, but I have
so much faith in this new direction, which is why

(03:08):
I decided to do a writing camp, because when I
had this idea, I didn't know how I was going
to make it happen because it's completely different from anything
I've ever done. And this has been a part of
my life on and off for years, this type of music,
medicine music and what it is that I'm going to

(03:28):
tap into. But it's new, it's a it's a new
world for me as far as making the music. So
when I brought this idea to my manager, Richard, he
was also very worried, but he loves me, and he's like,
I love you, and I believe in you as a
person as an artist, and I'm going to ride this
wave with you. And he has, and I told him,

(03:51):
I don't know how we're going to make this happen.
These are the sounds that I want. I need you
to find the right people. I want to write with
people that I have written with before, and even if
I have, I want them to completely erase the idea
that they have, because this is going to be Jinet driven,
not Cheeky's driven. And I told him, I want to

(04:12):
be away from home. I don't want it to be
in a place that I'm familiar with. I am stepping
away from the world and from my responsibilities and just
focusing on writing.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I want to have a chef. I don't want to
think about what we're going to eat.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I just want to tell the chef here, make something healthy,
make sure that when we're hungry, there's fruit, there's tea,
there's everything that we need in this home. I want
to do spiritual work. I want to do healing work.
We did sound baths, you guys. We did breath work.
We did this interactive like beat thing that I don't

(04:48):
even know what it's called, but it was freaking wonderful.
It was a three day camp and it was supposed
to be out of state, but that got a little expensive.
So I said, okay, since I want all these things,
it's going to be pricey, so let's just stay close by.
So I got a house in Airbnb in the Palisades.

(05:10):
Why the Palisades. We all know what happened here in
la and in the Palisades and in Altadina with the fires,
and I wanted it to be near the water. And
so we found this house in the Palisades, and I
prayed about it and I said, yes, this is where
we're going to have it. Because there was a lot

(05:32):
of sadness there. There was a lot of heartbreak a
lot of people. There was a lot of loss. But
also that's been my life. And this is why I'm
able to now sing these types of songs that we wrote,
because I know what to compare it with my music before,

(05:55):
is music that was very true to me. In the moment,
I was singing and writing from a survival mode. I'm
no longer there. Thank God, I've healed, I've done the work,
and so I rose from the ashes. I wanted us
to be surrounded by this energy because there is still

(06:17):
beauty to be found in these places. They're going to
rebuild and they're going to rebuild even stronger, and there
is something beautiful and it's biblical, make beauty from ashes,
and so that's why I decided to do it in
the Palisades. And I knew people were going to trip

(06:37):
out maybe driving up there, because as you were driving
up to the house, there were houses that were completely gone,
vacant lots, homes that still hadn't been demolished from the fires.
So it was very jolting driving up there. But it

(06:57):
kind of set the tone because it made you think,
It made you pause. I was driving up there and
I thought, is this the right move?

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Am I doing the right thing?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
And I'm like, wait, yes, in the moment of prayer,
in your moment of prayer, Janee, you felt it.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
But it made me think.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
And it also gave me this sense of gratefulness and
being able to make something and create something so beautiful
with a group of people in a place that went
through so much. And I had to explain this to
them when they first got there, because I think everyone
was kind of tripping out. And once I explained it

(07:37):
to them, they were like, oh, wow, okay, okay, yeah,
I get it. Awesome and they were right on board.
And then I proceeded to let them know that I
that I wanted to make this a spiritual writing camp,
and if they weren't open to it, I totally understood.
But everyone was open to it and everyone participated and

(07:58):
it was awesome. And I think because everyone was open
and really believed in my vision, it worked out. The
first day we did sound baths and I kid you not,
like we were laying on the floor outside it's very
hot under the sun, and it was amazing. It was
like a forty minute session and everyone set their intention

(08:21):
and that day was so amazing. We wrote I want
to say, like six songs that day. There was three
different rooms, and in every room there were two to
three people. There was a producer, a writer, there was

(08:42):
a lyricist, a person that like really is good with words,
and then there was me the artist. So the way
it works is, Okay, here are my poems. I had,
Oh my gosh, at least fifteen poems guys of songs
that I wanted to write. I'm like, okay, I'm not.

(09:03):
I know my abilities, and my ability is I'm able
to write, and I'm just I get very deep with
my words, and I just I get lost in writing right,
and I'm really good at writing the poems, but melodies
it's hard for me, Like I can't just come up
with a melody. I'm working on that, and I think
that's something that's just gonna like it's going to grow,

(09:24):
especially with this type of music that I'm making. So
I was like, this is why I needed everybody. So
I would walk into every room, we would pair them.
Some people knew each other, some people didn't. Everyone was
so respectful. The energy was so amazing, so we chose
different people for different rooms. I would walk into the
room and I would say, hey, I have this feeling
because it was very spiritually driven, very intuitively driven, and say,

(09:50):
I just feel that this is the song that we
need to focus on. And we would create from there
and someone would start with the beat and it just
takes while to kind of get in the mood. But
I think because we had set the tone and everyone
was on the same frequency, everything just was like the
flow was amazing. And then I would walk into another
room and give them the option. I was kind of like, Okay,

(10:12):
I don't really know them that well, and I don't
know I didn't really like not that I didn't connect
but I wasn't really feeling the energy, so I needed
to talk to them a little bit and I'd be like, hey,
I think these three poems, I'm filling these three poems,
which one do you, guys, resonate with? And that's how
we did it. So every process was different. Every process
took a little longer. We started, I want to say,

(10:34):
writing around noon and we finished around seven pm, so
it's a long process. The second day was a little tougher.
I think we were just exhausted or I don't know,
but I wasn't feeling one hundred percent that day. And
I think because I wasn't feeling one hundred percent, it
also kind of affected them subconsciously. So that day we

(10:56):
weren't able to finish all the songs. I think two
songs were left unfinished. But the first day we finished
all the songs and they were freaking phenomenal, guys, amazing.
Then the third day that's when we did the breath work.
Oh my goodness, guys. On the third day we did
the breath work. Amazing. I don't even have the words

(11:18):
to explain to you what intentional breathing does for you,
and what I mean is right now I'm breathing. That's
just us breathing to keep us alive. But intentional breathing
is intentional breathing, like you are breathing in and out
and moving your body and it gets you on this
high that not alcohol, not weed, not anything can take

(11:39):
you on this natural high. It's an out of body experience.
And it might sound crazy, but it's not. Like I cried.
I was crying, and I wasn't the only one crying. Actually, Ivana,
one of the writers who I met at the writing camp,

(12:01):
who I'm gonna have on the podcast, We're gonna call
her in a little bit because I wanted to get
her experience because she also cried during the breath work.
I was kind of embarrassed to take off my blind
phone because I was like, oh my god, I'm crying
and I can't stop crying. But she felt the same way.
And even Richard Boule did the breath work with us,
my manager, and he his eyes were watery and he
felt like whoa, And he's not into all this stuff really,

(12:23):
like I mean, he is, but like, you know, all
my hippie stuff, like he respects it. But he was like,
I don't think he's ever done breathwork and it was
so powerful, guys. So that day, the third day, we
were there until even later. I want to say, I
didn't leave there until ten o'clock because we were so

(12:45):
into the process. We finished, like damn, I don't even know,
like how many songs. So total, we finished eighteen songs.
I have never done that in my life. And everyone
was so inspired and so grateful, and they said so
many beautiful things to me, like thank you for doing this.
I see writing in a completely different way. I'm going

(13:09):
to implement this when I go to different writing camps
with different artists, and I love that because I think
there's something here. Music is energy and it makes you
feel different things. So this is why I want to
tap into this type of music because it is a frequency.
Every time I am not feeling good and I start

(13:30):
singing or I listen to a song, it either makes
me sad or it makes me happy. Usually it uplifts me.
When I go into the studio and I start singing,
it's it's moving energy within our body. So that's why
it was so important for me to have the right
people there, and I prayed for that because I again
a lot of them I didn't meet before.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
I didn't know, and.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I prayed, and I set the intention of having good
people that understood, that were open to this process because
it starts there. We are creating together. We are literally
creating and making a baby together, and then we're going
to present this baby to the world, and then that
baby is going to grow up, which is a song, right,
and is going to touch different hearts and is going

(14:14):
to be a light. So I needed to make sure
that while we were conceiving, everyone was in an amazing
mood and feeling good, which is why on the second day,
when I wasn't feeling that good, it didn't flow as
great because I'm leading this. So that's why it's so
important that I needed to be good and I needed

(14:34):
to be centered because it starts with me and this
is my vision. And everyone respected it and everyone was
so amazing about it. It was just so great, guys.
And this music. Oh, I didn't want to talk too
much about it because I wanted to be a surprise,
but you guys are my faves, so I'm just going
to tell you it's music that is healing. It is

(15:00):
called medicine music.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Right.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Some have the sound of medicine music, which is more earthy,
more rugged, I guess, not so mainstream. It is for
your soul, and I do have some songs that are
a little bit more mainstream ish, but completely different from
anything I've ever done. This is so far from regional

(15:25):
Mexican music that it's what I needed. I have catered
a lot to Cheeky's, and we love Cheeky's, you know,
Cheeky's and Chill. We love her, We love it. But
I feel like I neglected Jane, and Jane is a
huge part of myself and a huge part of who
I am. And I know it's weird talking to the
third person, but this is how I had to just

(15:45):
separate the two in order for me to get through
the industry. And sometimes not all the time. What sometimes
singing that type of music brings. And I love Banda
and it is very much a part of me. It
runs through my veins. It's a part of my history,
it's a part of my testimony. I love it and

(16:08):
I will still sing Banda, but right now we're focusing
on Jane, and I've done the healing, and I feel
that right now is the time to bring out this music.
So it's music from my soul for the soul because
and now I'm singing from a healed place, and I
want to help heal the world. I've always wanted to
help heal the world, even through my heartbreak songs, but

(16:29):
this feels different because now I'm really singing from a
healed place, and it feels good. Even being in the
studio yesterday recording the very first song, guys, for this
album was so different for me. It was a lot faster.
I don't know if it's because it's a song that
I absolutely love. I don't know if it's because I

(16:51):
don't have to belt and project so much like I
do with BANDA, Because with BANDA, you're competing. Your voice
is an instrument, and you're competing with so many different instruments.
And here it's mu zick, where I'm like whispering in
your ears. I'm able to use the softer side of
my voice and it was just so much easier and it.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Was just so magical, guys.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
It was so magical and I can't wait for you
guys to hear it and this music I'm making, guys,
I mean, some of my team is worried, like, Okay,
Chiki's your fan base is already this type of fan
base they like that is madre, you know, like and
I do too. I like to drink and I like
to mess around on stage, and I like, if you've
gone to my show, it gets crazy. It's fun. They're fun.

(17:32):
This is going to be very different, it is. I
have this whole vision and I don't want to give
too much too soon, because I want there to be surprises,
you know, and I want you guys to be excited
for it. But this music is for everyone, guys. It's
literally for everyone that is open for it. And I
think this is what the world needs, not just because

(17:52):
I'm making this type of music, but the world is
now waking up and starting to realize things and starting
to connect with their higher self with their intuition, And
this is what that music is about.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
This music is.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
For that person that wants to come back to themselves,
that wants to heal, or that has healed and wants
music to feel good and to cook with and just
to freaking vibe out with. And it's for your soul.
I don't know how else to explain it, Like it's
for you to remember your essence where you come from

(18:25):
the power that we all have. It's to remind you
of that that sometimes, through life and through heartache and
through disappointment, we tend to go towards the darkness without
even knowing it. But this is going to bring you
back to the light, back to who you are, back
to who you're meant to be. And it's very different.

(18:49):
It's folk, a little bit of country, even a sound
that you've never heard before, especially for me, but I
think ever before. It's so unique. I'm like, so excited.
This music is going to help heal the world, guys.
Every song is so powerful. And I'm not only saying
that because they're my songs, but listening to them because

(19:12):
they're not recorded yet, like at the camp the writers
recorded them, not I don't have them with my voice,
but even the way they are right now, they just
are perfect the way they are.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
So that's how I know.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
I'm like, I love listening to this music and I
listen to it almost every day, guys, and it heals me.
So I feel like, if it's healing me and I
wrote this, I help write these songs, how are they
not going to help heal the world?

Speaker 2 (19:39):
You know?

Speaker 1 (19:40):
And this music is for me, it's something I needed
to do and I need to do.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
But also.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
I'm praying that everyone likes it, and I do have
a strong feeling that people are going to love it.
I have a very good feeling about this, guys, Like
I can't even explain it. And now I don't have
the pressure of worrying about a Latin Grammy, which I
would love to have, by the way, I would love
to get a Latin Grammy with this album, but it's

(20:12):
it's even more than that. It's like it's beyond that.
It's bigger than me. This feeling that I feel that
it's going to take me to a different place and
a place where I'm going to like help the world
in a different way. This vision that I've had for
a long time of me being on stage and I
see there are lights. It looks like a stadium, and

(20:35):
mind you, I've never sang in a stadium like at
my own show. But we have faith that it'll happen,
and I would love for it to be with this
music because the energy behind it is so freaking powerful
and healing, and I'm like, this is what I was
brought to this world to do. That's how strong I
feel about it. And it's not like a worship song.

(20:57):
It's not like a in your face God song, but
we're singing about God in a very sexy way, and
that's what I wanted.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
I'm like, I want it to.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Be very faith driven without it being in your face,
without it scaring you, because it doesn't. Like it's just
so softly done that it makes it just magical. I'm
so excited about And even guys, even if five people
listen to this album, I'll be fine with that. That's

(21:30):
how passionate and that's how much I believe in this,
Like if it helps five people in the entire world,
ten people out of the six point one million people
that follow me, I'm fine with that because I'm finally
doing and making the music that I know I was
meant to make, like the BANDA and Arena and yamanthis

(21:52):
and all that that I enjoyed and I love, I
was also meant to do. But I was meant to
do to get here, if that make sense, Like that
was this is what I have to do right now,
momentarily get through this so that you can get there.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
And now we're here, and you may.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Be asking yourself, where did this come from I think
people that know me and follow me on Instagram, and
my friends and my siblings and people that really really
know me that no Janey, know that this isn't going
to come out of left field.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
This is so me. This has been me for a
long time.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Maybe I forgot a little bit because I was busy
life in you know, but this has been a part
of me since I could remember. Artists like Shakira have
inspired me. Artists like Garla Morrison. I've been listening to
a lot of Garla Morrison, a lot of Cleo Soul,
a lot of India Ari, Jack Johnson. It's it's that

(22:47):
Bob Marley, guys, like they have been a part of
my life, some not so long, but Bob Marley, Indi
Ari like her music. If you don't listen to Indii
or Eric Abadu like, that has been my shit, guys.
And what I love about INDII is the way she

(23:08):
writes and the way she sings things. It's so easy
to understand and you feel it in a different way.
And so these artists like I've just had this in
my heart and in the back of my mind for
so long, and I just didn't feel ready for whatever reason.
And last year, again I've mentioned this a lot on

(23:28):
the podcast, guys, but I felt the shift. I have
been feeling a shift. I had been feeling a shift
last year, and I was just like, what's happening, And
it was this. It was just this undeniable thing that
I had to do and my soul like it's just
something that lives in my soul. And I think I

(23:49):
feel now more prepared as an artist, as a writer,
as a performer, and now I don't care so much
about oh my gosh, are people gonna listen to it?
Or or it was more numbers back then. This isn't
music for the charts. This is music for the soul.
So it's very different for me. So it takes off
some of the pressure, which I'm enjoying because I think

(24:10):
I felt so much pressure. There was always so much
comparison with my mom, and I'm like, guys, look at me,
like I am me and I have my own experiences
and my mom is my mom, and I'm never going
to be able to be like her, and I don't
want to be like her.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
I want to be like me.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
And so that was a lot of pressure. And now
with this, this is a completely different lane, and it
feels clean, and it feels bright, and it feels in
a way easy, and it's so weird. And that's why
I took a chance on myself, and that's why I'm like, Okay,
I'm gonna put some money to the side, and I
know how expensive this career could be, but I really

(24:45):
want to invest in this music. And since the musicians
are gonna cost me a lot, I'm going to need
to really work hard. And that's what I'm doing because
I'm taking this chance on myself and I think it's
going to be one hundred percent worth it, and I hope.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
You guys think so too. I can't wait for you
guys to hear it. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
I'm going to the studio tonight again to record the
first single of this album. So yesterday was the first
song of the album. Tonight will be the first single
of the album. So it's a very important day, which
I'm really happy because I'm in a very good mood.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
I feel very good.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
I have my podcast, so the podcast, when I talk
on the podcast, it helps just exercise my vocal cords.
So I'm going to be so ready thanks to you guys.
When I'm in the studio, so I'm going to think
about you, so your energy is also going to be
with me in the studio. So that's already great. It's
a great day. It's bright, it's hottest heck outside, so
I'm excited. And I also want to talk to Evanna,

(25:43):
and I want you guys to hear from her. There
were I want to say, ten to twelve people, because
some writers came in and out somewhere there the entire time.
Evanna was there the first, the second, and the third day,
and some just tapped in. So I want to say
about twelve writers. And I did want to hear from Evana,

(26:04):
one of the writers, because I just want to see
what she thought and how she felt at the writing camp.
Because that girl, she is talented. Let me tell you
nineteen now she's twenty, but she's very young, has an
amazing voice, and wrote. I want to say, out of
the eighteen songs, she wrote six of them she was

(26:27):
in six different rooms. That's crazy. I want to say
five or six. So she's super talented. So I want
to hear from her, and I want you guys to
meet her. Oh my god, it's Tutu too. Thank you God,
Thank you God. Number Selios. We love you, Amen, thank
you God. See these are signs. These are all signs
that God is showing me and my angels that everything
is aligning. Tututu is an angel number, you know. I

(26:47):
know I had said earlier that I wasn't going to
talk too much about details, but I love you guys,
and I'm so grateful for you guys, and I know
you guys want the best for me, So send good
positive energy. The first single should be coming out, god
willing mid September. I should have an EP. I've never
had an EP my entire life. So an EP is

(27:09):
an introduction usually new artists, for new artists, So it's
an EP is an album of five songs, sometimes eight,
no more than eight, and then an album is ten, twelve, thirteen, fourteen,
and so on and so forth. But usually an EP
is to present a new artist. And I do feel
like I am introducing you guys to this new side

(27:32):
of me. So I'm introducing you guys to Jane. So
that's why I'm going to come out with an EP,
and I'm hoping and praying that comes out in November,
and then the full album will hopefully come out in March,
and I am working on a showcase here in La Guys.
I'll give you guys more details on that in November.
So I want the EP to come out with a small,

(27:52):
little showcase, intimate, not too big. This is a very
intimate setting, so is maybe this music will take us
to stadiums, you know, but I do want to start
off small. I wanted to be very intimate, especially the showcase.
The showcase is basically for people to come out and
again kind of like the EP, introduce my new music,
my new my new you know proposal, and we're going

(28:18):
to invite promoters and a lot of the streaming platforms
so that they can hear my new music and watch Jane.
Because the wardrobe is going to change, guys. The makeup
is going to change. Everything is it's going to be
it's oh my gosh, I can't wait. And you know
what people have asked me, even my manager, he's like,

(28:39):
do you still want to be Cheeky's as an artist?
And at first I thought maybe this could be Jane,
but then he brought something up that was I mean,
that's why he's my manager, you know, he knows what's up.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
But he's like, you know, it would.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Be starting from scratch, which I don't mind, but he's like,
and people go look for your music like it's you're
going to be starting all over with your streams. And
I think it'll be more beneficial for this new music
to put it under Cheeky's because people already know you
and you have streams, and it'll be especially since we're
going independent financially, it'll be better because then I will

(29:20):
be able to get, you know, compensated and replenished for
my investment. So I still love Cheeky's. I love Cheeky's,
and I think, yes, it's That's why it's important for
me to do my work and talk about it in
my interviews and talk about how Cheeky's is introducing Janet
and how Cheeky's is still there and I'm still Cheeky's,
but now you're going to see a different side of me,

(29:41):
which I think is cool. But I think I'm going
to keep Cheeky's forever. I mean, I've had that name
since I was a baby, so it's truly a part
of me, and it's I feel like, in a way,
still keeping and honoring my mom, you know, since I
don't carry and use her last name, and she loved you,
so she you know.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
So I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna keep it.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
And guess what we have? What are the writers of
the workshop here with us today? And I wanted to
bring her on so she could share her experience with us.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Thank you so much for coming on.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
Oh my gosh. Of course, I.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Was telling them how much fun I had at the
writing camp and we had met. That was the first time.
That's how we met, guys through the writing camp. Thank god,
because now I feel like I want you in my
life forever. Yeah, honestly, you're so great. You're so great.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
And I was telling them how young you are because
I didn't know how young you were.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Yeah, I think I was.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
I was twenty when okay, I let my birthday just passed,
but I was twenty when we met.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
Yeah, I was twenty.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Oh okay, okay, so okay, for whatever reason, I thought
you were nineteen then turned twenty anyway, either way, Okay,
so tell me tell me what your experience was.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
Well, literally it was so beautiful because I think from
the first moment that I like literally stepped foot into
the house.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
It just felt like very leveled.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
I don't know, I think like personally I was struggling
with something at the time, and the whole time I
was at the camp, it just felt I felt very aligned,
like emotionally with work, with everyone that was around us.
Everyone was so genuine to themselves, like everyone really knew
themselves and like hard workers and positive, like wanted good

(31:42):
for everyone. You know, there was no competitiveness or anything
like from the beginning it was everyone had a smile
on their face. It was such a beautiful experience and
I really felt like God's presence the whole entire time
when that.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
Was super super super.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
Special because when you walk into a place and you
feel God's presence, like it's obviously nothing can make you
feel like that, you know.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Yeah for sure. And did you had you ever done
anything like that? Like because we did breath work, we
did sound was like, you know, had you been exposed
to that before?

Speaker 4 (32:16):
I love yoga.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
I do yoga with my mom and I so I
had done yoga, but really like meditating like that with
other people and like really getting on the same frequency
as them. And when we did, we put our hands
together and we like we're on the same frequency. I
really think that also was so cool to experience for
the first time. And when we did that, we all

(32:39):
stood in a circle and we were all making music
our own.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Like just us. That was really powerful.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
That like started the day so awesome, Like we had
so much energy. That was so much fun. All of
us were so excited after. I could tell.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Thank God we have we have that on camera, guys,
because I had my personal camera there because I was
like I need to document this. Yeah, it was so
I can't even explain it. I can't even It was
just we were making beats and sounds with our own
voices but together, and then we made this amazing song.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
No, it was. It was great.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
It was so awesome. It was so awesome.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
So it was for sure your first time doing it
and then obviously your first time doing it in a
work setting like this, you know, which I think was great.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
I was gonna say, I think it really like helped
us work as a group because, you know, regardless of
like we're all in each others in our own rooms,
like you were still like all working together to create
a project that's going to like build and be as one.
You know, Yes, and so that's really important. I really
think that that helped so much.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
Yeah, I agree. And what did you feel?

Speaker 1 (33:39):
What did you feel when you were driving up there
and saw where we were creating, you know, in the Palisades?

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
I mean it's funny because when I saw that I
was going to be in the Palisades, I was like, oh, like,
I wonder what it's going to be, like, what it's
going to feel like, you know, our surroundings. I mean
it was freaking gor just like the view.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
The everything, the view of the weather, the weather.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Why was the weather perfect all like all the days
it was insane, not a cloud in the sky like
it was. So it was really interesting because, like I
said earlier, like I felt very aligned in work and
emotionally and mentally and with everything that had happened in
that area.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
It was kind of like we were in a safe space.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Yes, like regardless of what's going on exterior, Like, we
were in a safe space. And I kind of like
for me, that's what the camp felt like, and like
what we were able to like put into the songs
more importantly is.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Like a safe space.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Yeah, And it created that and like metaphorically and also literally,
we were in a safe place, safe environment, disregarding everything
that had happened prior to that.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Yeah, oh my god, I love that you said that,
because I just I don't know. I can't even. I
was trying to explain to them the music. You just
have to listen to it, I don't beautiful. Yeah, every
song was so.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
Great, exciting, so exciting, it's crazy. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
And you're so talented, dude, I was. I had so
much fun. Everyone there was so talented guys.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Oh gosh.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
But I connected with you, like I don't know, I
had this special connection. I'm like, okay, like I can
talk to her, like we were feeding, like going back
and forth with words and which one fits better, and
it was just an amazing, amazing vibe.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
And I do want to tell you something.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
So the song that you wrote Malibu, Oh yes, it
looks like it's going to be the focus track for
the album shut Up. Yes, yes, yes, go one of
the I think five songs that you wrote. But yes,
and I would love I would love to know if

(35:58):
you would like to also sing with me taking the album.

Speaker 4 (36:04):
Of Freaking Chorse? Are you kidding?

Speaker 2 (36:08):
I love getting your voice?

Speaker 4 (36:10):
Oh okay, cool, she said to.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Hear guys, it's recorded. She's gotta be on the album. Yes,
Oh my.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Gosh, you're so beautiful. Thank you. You know.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
I loved making that song because it was so fun.
It was so fun to make, and it really makes
you feel like good about yourself, and like I love
the beach, I love.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
Being by the ocean.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
And yeah, even like when you guys were in the room,
like I loved having y'all's energy in there, and like,
it was so fun to make.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
It was so fun to make.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
I love it because it's a song that takes you
to a happy pace, like if you like mentally, it
takes you to paradise. It doesn't have to be Malibu.
It could be wherever that happy place is for you.
It's just you play it and you're like, okay, I'm there.
I'm very going to be okay, you know. And that's
what this album, the entire album is all about.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
Oh my gosh, it's gonna be so beautiful.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Thank you, Thank you. Of course, I'm so excited.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
So I'll text you and we got to hang out
and we'll figure out when we record, because I started
recording yesterday. So I'm going to the studio tonight, so
and next week, so I'll let you know. Hopefully you're
available and we can do something.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Yeah, and we can meditate too, Yes, exactly under the sun.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
Yes, under the sun.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
She got a little sunburn. Guys from the.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
Set, I was wearing my cross necklace and I had
a cross marked on my head.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
I was like, God, look at my cross.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Yeah, that's so true. Oh my god, I miss you,
Oh God, I miss you.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Well. Thank you so much, Evonna, thank you for your time,
thank you for sharing with us, and I'll catch you
so girl.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
I can't wait for everything to manifest itself into this
beautiful feeling for people. I'm just so excited and everyone
deserves it, and everyone just deserves to feel like aligned
and happy in a safe place.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
So I'm so happy, excited.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
Yeah, thank you, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
