Happy Friday, everyone! Today, I'm sending you a voice note from the 405 freeway. I'm in the car with my husband Emilio and we're on our way to my breast ultrasound appointment. Screening for breast cancer can be daunting and scary, so I've decided to switch up the energy and make it a positive experience. Listen to find out more.

No, but I'm forty, right, and now I have to
check my breasts and make sure that we are good
in that area. My grandma did have breast cancer, I
believe twice. She's in remission now, thank god. So I
just have to be really careful. And I don't want
to do the traditional mammogram where they squish your booby
because I have implants and that scares me. So my

obgyn gave me this option, which is painless and also
it's I think more accurate in a way.

Anyway, The point is that's what I'm doing today. I
feel good.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
I got dressed up and Emilio looked at me, like, oh,
are you all dressed up? Because usually, like during the week,
I'm chill, I wear no makeup, Like I'm trying to
like get better at dressing up a tiny bit more.
But today I decided for it to be the first
day because this is a very vulnerable thing that we
have to do as women, and it could be scary.
But I was like, you know, let me make it
a nice experience for myself. I want to look nice.

I want to dress up for myself and feel very feminine,
and I want to just you know, lean into my
feminine femininity.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Did I say that right? I hope, I hope. So
I don't even know, but that's why I was.

Like, I have on like these cute little flats that
have like the teeniest little heel, Like what do you think,
like an inch? Like, yeah, it's an inch. They're crazy looking,
but they're really cute. They're very like dainty. I have
on some jeans, some skinny jeans. I know they're not in,
but I rolled them up a little bit to make

them a little bit more fashionable, and I have like
the tzara top that is like looks like a vest.
It's cream color, it has a little buttons. It's really cute,
and I brush my hair.

How do I look in a little two sections? You
go to the doctor's office. Thank god you're with me.

But it was because of that, because I'm like, you
know what, this is something that we do and we
have to do and it's recommended. So I highly recommend
for you guys to do it if you're around the
same age. And I guess, like not see these things
as thing.

Negative or like a chore, but something that you're doing
for yourself.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
And doing these checkups can be a little inconvenient sometimes
and of course, like I said's scary, but you can make.

It a little fun. So I got myself ready for it, and.

I feel really good and I feel happy, and I
pray that everything's going to be good. I think I
will be fine, but just wanted to share that hopefully
next time, you have to go to your gynecologist and
get your annual PAP smear because if you are sexually active,
you need to get one every year. Okay, please, you

guys know I'm huge on the gynecologists every year, the
dentist every six months. Now this breast thing I have
to do yearly, which is fine, but it's like, we
have to get ahead of the game and we need
to take care of our bodies and care enough about
this body that God gave us gets holding our spirit
and really just functioning for us, and we have to

take care of it the way it's taking care of us.

So that's all. Do you have anything to add to that,
my little no. I just I think it was a
great idea. I didn't understand her at first, but now
that you've explained it, like it is a scary thing,
and I feel like we're going into it with a
little bit more confidence. Yeah, And so it takes the
edge off.

At least it does because I feel like, Okay, imagine
if I came bummy, which I usually probably would, but
I'm like, I don't want to feel that. I want
to feel good. I want to feel good about myself.
