Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume, Let's move to a lot of topics.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Uh. Cam Whitmore got traded to the Washington Wizards for
two second round picks.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
That was crazy.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Yeah, I don't know what the Wizards are doing.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
You think that was a good move for them?

Speaker 3 (00:17):
No, they just drafted came with Moore and Trey Johnson.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
They literally did.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
They got Cam Thomas even though he ain't signed back.
I'm sure he'll be back. Cam Whitmore, Trey Johnson, Chris Middleton.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Kim Tho for the Wizards.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
God damn, I don't know why I said that, But
they got Cam with Moore, Trey Johnson, c J mcc
Chris Middleton, Yeah, Marcus Smart, that one white dude from Gonzaga.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Timmy, who the hell is that?

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Kelly ol No, the other one that's another white kid doing.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
They still got Cos.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I got, They still got Corey.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah. I don't see no room for Cam.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
So I'm assuming this has to be a long term
play after next year, because imagine they're gonna probably have
Smart or Broaden on the roster next year. You're probably
gonna try well Buck Harrison. Is they starting?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
PJ? Young boy? He solid as hell?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
So who playing CJ?

Speaker 1 (01:22):
CJ have to be gone for this year.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I'm just saying this year.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
This year, TJ is starting toil. He gone for sure,
Okay for sure? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Cam Whitmore is looking like your backup three right now
until Chris is gone. But I imagine that maybe their
young core they wanted is Bud Carrenson, Trey Johnson and
Cam Witmore if they went through three, because I think
Camp's with six five sixty six, so maybe he can
play the three.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
But I mean for two seconund picks. I am mad
at the gamble.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Trade got a play well, Cam could have went to
somebody who needs that right now though.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Well, the report is that they had other offers on
the table, but they wanted to put him in the
best situation to develop and thrive. And I'm like, if
you send somebody to Washington, you don't really want him
to develop and.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Throw get more opportunity.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
They're looking at it as an opportunity standpoint, like, all right,
we like Kim or whatever, We're gonna send him somewhere
where we know he can play. It's all equal playing field.
Like Trey Johnson was the first round pick, Kim wore.
Cam Woodmore was the first round pick. It ain't too
far like if he played more than Trey Johnson's it
ain't like you out of pocket.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
He was the first round pick too because he did
this thing. Yeah, and Cam is pretty solid.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Like it's a lot of problems pick up for somebody
else though, Damn. I hate to see that.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
That's what I was thinking. I'm like, I wonder what
the other offers were.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
You know, you hear a lot of ship that goes on,
but the really is I'm sure another team would probably
offered them a little bit more for them to get there,
Like you said, maybe they want him to go play
now cool, But but.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
They still got the other young boy like what's his name?

Speaker 4 (02:46):
But but my boy, yeah, they still got oh yeah
he nice. Yeah, you know the young wing they got yeah,
whatever his name is, no disrespect to you, friends, but
they still got him too. That's another young wing. And
I'm just like, what we're doing. I don't know, Yeah,

(03:07):
I don't know what that's about.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
That that really that threw me off. Shit, I don't
know it just i'ld have kevi him.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, I was surprised.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
I just got a lot of young wings over there.
I don't know if that's gonna really fit.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
But I mean, if you're gonna let him go get
something back that you can use serviceable, we're trying to
win the chip now.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
I mean I got two second rounders. I mean they
really ain't got no roong for money. That's the problem.
That's where they came from. They can't signed drany Thing
Smith right now or Clint Capella.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, do you see there's like a seventeen deal that's
going on. They trying to link all these together to
make him make sense from a money standpoint. That's very
interesting they happen. So we'll see more of that probably
in the next couple of days, but even today this
morning said that it's like a seventeen deal something crazy
like that to make the money shift.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
The second Apron thing is done.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
What is it for.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
It's just for the owners, for the owners to save money.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
But it's also like not fair because if you watch,
like the owners can always get their money back like players,
they can never get their money back like you get
what you get like the owners is making money while
they playing, while they're owning the team, they make money,
then they can sell it and get all their money
back and plus more. It's nothing wrong with it. I

(04:23):
get it, because they supplying. They the reason this league works. Obviously,
you can have players, but if you don't got owners,
people who are putting up the capital to make this
shit work, it ain't gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
But I'm just saying, like, if one owner got more
money than another who fucking fought.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Is at absolutely you're right.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
If I can afford to pay the tax and you can't.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, that's all of that.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
But to me, the second apron is really hurting people
like Okay, see teams that develop these young talents. If
you look at the CBA years ago when James Horten
came up, it killed the OKAC team back then because
they couldn't the CBA didn't allow them to do what
they needed to do to keep their talent. But they
making these homegrown stars, building them up. And now they

(05:09):
came and keep them on their team because the second
apron they came befod to going to tax. It's like
a crazy tax. So they're gonna lose this beautiful team
that we seeing this year.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Hell yeah, and then you know what I'm saying, the
president right now, seat to come and catch your health
for it. They're just like, man, why you agree with
that bullshit? That's what I've just been saying. They're like, man,
what you want?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Bro?

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Like, while y'all get into this bullshit, you looking at
w they getting upset with their collective as was. It
seems like the players associations across the board really be
kind of letting down the players.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Well, they tricked them because they made it seem like
it's gonna be parody around the league, like, oh, every
team is going to have stars now because you can't
keep a star. And then you look at it, it's like, yeah,
but you also can't pay anybody else's everybody's gonna get
lowble Like everybody's gonna get lower contracts.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Now.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
You're gonna have two maybe three max players and everybody
else who at once upon a time when people was
getting the mid level exception getting fourteen fifteen twenty minutes,
you're gonna have like one player like that one or
two who's getting ten, twelve, thirteen, forty fourteen million. It's
just not good, Like yeah, like it took the fun

(06:14):
out of basketball.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Con Like you said, to the point though, we were
so surprised that special then when it got fourteen million
for one year from Charlotte. That's a mid level exception
in years past. That's a couple of people getting that bread.
Now people is like d Loo had to get two
year twelve million. That's crazy for somebody that's.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Calibern just to make your work and try to hit
free agency again next year to see if you can
get fourteen to fifteen eight you know what I mean,
Just to be on a team.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
And it's forbids. You get injured your.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Cup, yeah done, and don't be one in a situation
to where you lad of your career you want to contend,
you're most definitely now with this law, you're taking a
pay cup for sure.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Definitely hmm.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Yeah, don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Like Al Horford minimal, which is crazy. He's gonna get
life mostly gonna get five million, that should be getting ten.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
He's still service, but he plays enough minutes of qualifif
can't up body afford them, that should be getting ten.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Look at the ship they're trying to do to give
Clint Copella seven million, dran Phinneysmith fourteen fifteen million.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
That's what I told you you're talking about this when
I said, y'all, boy need a software update. I said,
what's that boy named Ken Tao KCP No, no, no
from the Sixers, the two.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Guard that you'll look.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, he tripped, I said, twenty five. He's not getting
you ain't righted the little fucking pamphlet.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Nah.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yeah that clearly Yeah that that was quiet for that
twenty five for my boy.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Now he you know what I'm saying, trying to get
it how you live?

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah, you're gonna have to think that again.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
And I feel like that gotta leads to like division
in the locker room because you're gonna have so many people.
We gotta have a few people who comfortable. Everybody else
is literally fighting for their life now. I mean, I
I know it's competitive, everybody's always going for the next contract,
But now you got a smaller windows. Ain't nobody really
getting three year deals. You're getting one plus ones at
best two.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
They took it back to the old NBA.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
You gotta think that's how it was back in the
day when I first came out, Like the male level
exception was eight million, that's what I had got. It
was like eight million or whatever. But you had one
player on your team had a max deal. You had
people had making thirteen fourteen, like I was making fifteen,
Josh making thirteen, Mormon was making like yeah, Joe was

(08:32):
making twenty four right, and then they're the next player
is making like fourteen.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
That's a pecking you know what I mean. It was
just like a pecking order. Now.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
I mean it's always been like that in the league,
but now at one point it had got so cool
where like a guy like kim Boy Baisemore was making
seventeen million and you're like, damn a nigga.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Though he had four or five right time you.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Had Duncan Robinson getting twenty million a year. Yes, sir,
you know what I mean. It was just like at
a point in time it was good where the money
the TV deal came.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Theydn't had a second Apron.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Ship yet people was getting paid because they had to
spend that money. But now this ship didn't ruined it.
Like look at Boston, bro they went from top of
the world too.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
I don't know what they gonna do, but ship, I
don't know because Dame said be interested. I mean, yeah,
I'm just saying they they're still gonna be competitive.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
But I said, had to break up your whole team.
They like, yeah, we got two years.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Then you gotta slice this team up because ain't no
way we're paying that tax.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, they let go everything.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
Yeah, bro, that's do y'all still think, uh, Jaylen Brown
be up for a trade.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
I mean, you still got to put a nice product
on the floor. I mean even though it's Boston, people
are still gonna go to the games. Yeah, just because
it's routine.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Now.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
People probably didn't pay for their season tickets ever since
the championship, probably three years in advance, you know what
I mean, got because that's what happened with Cleveland when
Lebron left. Their games were still sold out because people
bass season tickets for like four years.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
In events, danbrind the vibes. You want to tap in?
Tap in now? I see your boy's got a love
threat on the Pacers, shouts my doll.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Jay huff Man.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
I like Jay huff He's a really quality back up.
He's probably gonna start because we don't have to start. Well,
he doesn't have a choice.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
We don't have got to start. The jersey.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
I like the way that he played though, he plays
just like like Miles.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Yeah, he's just a little bit more athletic. Who the
mouse turner?

Speaker 3 (10:34):
You know what I'm saying, talking about the.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Hoof the big white boy. Ain't more athletic than Miles.
Yes he is, bro, Yes he is bro. Yeah. He
a better love threat, Yes he is.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
He can shoot, He finished about the room. He always
awards dunk and he catch a lot. He's more athletic
than mouth. Absolutely all right, that's it. Damn, that's a sneaky.
That's a sneak. That's a good pick a.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Quarty pick up. I'm rolling. I've been thinking very hot
on him.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
I didn't know why it didn't work in mephis Obviously
they got Hello big, But I didn't never know why
he because he got a little bit of mess with him.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
He was productive, but they got Hello bigs. But he
run four really well. A good player.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
But like some of Miles dunks that you we've seen,
I mean.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Man's come through the middle with that bitch. Now that's
one thing. Miles will pump drop the basket.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Hell now some of the stuff dow low would I
expect Miles to just turn to dunk some times.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
That ain't really his game. He'll do that.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah, he's a really quality back up. I wish you
would have had him last year. I think it would
have made it a little bit of Yeah, but he's quality,
He's quality.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Thomas Brown want to get in if he was.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
On team that that I was saying, he can shoot
out the basketball.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Shoot he could play, but more athletic. Yeah, I don't
know about that, but he's definitely Lot three.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
I like him.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
I'm taking hopefully he can sack around for another year, retires,
get back. I think that'd be real dope to see
him with that.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
That was a great pick up for you. It's not good.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
It's not jumping off the radar, of course, but that
for the Pacers.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Here remind me of I already had in Goga.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
But yeah, he a little bit better than Gog the
same type of I think Goga's offensive touch as far
as passing the balls a little bit better.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
But I like Jaff. I like you have a lot
you get shoot it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
I don't know what we're gonna do next year. I
have no expectations, but why not. I ain't mad at it.
Two second round picks you an't gonna do no, But
in no way auditions next year for us?

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yeah, should the Pacers have a bullshit year.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
Yeah, get another hot pick?

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Yeah? Should that? Yes? Am I yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Think they should go all the way tank Like you know,
at some point somebody got to get the first round pick.
So everybody superstar got hurt. We know to us it's
somewhat rigged right. So Boston lost Jay j T. Milwaukee
lost some Dame Indiana Pacers. Sorry the draft off, the

(12:55):
drop off for the Pacers is gonna be so much
more drastic. But from going to the finals was in
your star player they drop off, I'm gonna be like
understood compared to everybody else. They still got. They still
got Jaylen Brown. Place the fucking around be the numbers
to get the number two pick.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Listen bro we lost Tyre's and we lost two starters
in a matter of two weeks, two people who meant
a lot to our team. I'm alway letting the young boys,
all the young players at the beginning of the year
go crazy, get y'all off, get your value high as
we possibly can, and figure out what start they wanted
to pair with ty Resent Pascota next year and trade
the niggas.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
So we jump ahead a lot on the pod. So
if y'all was in that seat in position to pick
a player for next year? What type of player would
you go after? And if you got a name, say
the name that you would pick up for the Pacers.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Yeah, uh, they need to start. They need Ja, they
need from Kansas.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Their Pierson would be perfect.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
They need him. They need one of them. Boo Boozer
Twin is good, but you can get that. Not saying
no disrespect to him. I think he but he just
not as dynamic as those other two.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
But he can play.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Yeah, he a killer, but they need a wing scorer
and Edwards tight. Yeah, I can put Butts in the seats.
I'm excited to see him because they thought they was
getting that math. But he's still is an exciting player.
But Rick just don't like him. So you need somebody
who's the number one two pick where you got to
be forced to play.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
And also money isn't played for business year too, It's
time for him to get an extension.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
I just mean, like, so y'all pick a no question.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I mean if we go pick yes, a j run
it if we can get to it, get there Pearson
pull up A.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Sleeper pick for me would be Mike Hill Brown only
I know y'all got tyres on god on something, but
y'all play point guards together.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
And he called, Hey.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
You know what I'm on. I've been watching him at
the USA, bro, and he looking like the best player.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
Start following Chris Brody. Bro, he called, and he's like
that he's a Jefferson hater. Bro Cole the first run
to Otiga said, nah, being this nigga is bro.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
He the one take my little of byasider bro My
cap Brown Junior is one of those I said that before.
We will be blessed if we have him for more
than one year, because we will not Yeah yeah gone
one year.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
He about to go fucking dominate next year.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
It ain't even if he like he is an NBA
player like he even if it don't show up in
college and you watch it, the way he played basketball
is the NBA.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
That's a that's a teen year starting point right right
there is what I'm looking at.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
He can shut off the rip. Yeah, he can play.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
He's in his way, he see the game, way he
shoot the stuff he work on as an NBA player,
I don't know if it's gonna translate to college. I
don't know what he gonna look like. In college is
a completely different game than the NBA. Yeah, but when
he makes it the NBA, he's gonna be good as ship.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
If you had to drop him on the team, though,
what team would you drop him? Ball?

Speaker 5 (15:56):
Hopefully the Patiers, you know, if he's available, But I'm saying,
what team would y'all up him?

Speaker 1 (16:00):
My own him? That could use?

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Yeah, Phoenix him and d Booker be.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
He's nasty, incredible bro Like I can't speak highly hing tall,
like six four six five athletics.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Is we saw that event. I said, Damn bron was
this big.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Hand du can pass it.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
He's just one of my favorite players in that class.
And I think this class coming up is the I
think this is the class. Like everybody was high on
this class or whatever. I thought it was just okay, yeah,
it was top heavy, that's what it was. It was
very high time. But it's some players in that class.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Twenty five twenty six class. There's some killers in that class.
For shore.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Can you go to the rankings to the twenty five
twenty six class whatever class.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
It is, twenty twenty five class, alright, you like.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
The high school ranking, Like, yeah, it's some killers in
the Ajdvansa obviously.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
That Peterson.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Yeahs was a dog co too. It's another one that
can is this nice person?

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Till it good too? Yeah yeah, yeah, hove too. Yeah.
Look at some of these names. Boy, they admitt it's
hard there.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Kids.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I never heard that.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
You'll see him in the draft. Don't worry, he go TODs.
Yeah you're going to Arkansas.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Nice, come on, brilin Big Andy.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
Believe Thomas is a favorite point guard this year, right, Yeah,
that's that's my boy right there.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
They got some killers in this class, but I think
I think he's in that town. Yeah, man, I like them.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
It's top heavy too, but it's still gonna be some
guys in college like the high Betiphord yeah, and some
of the other dudes that came back for the sophomore season. Yeah,
you might go crazy if there, but it's a lot
of guys that came back because you know that many
people that enter the draft this year, so some guys

(18:11):
that came back.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
I think it's gonna be a really good draft.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
But I just think Michiel Brown, man, I just think
when I watched him play, bro just jump off the
page like that.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
As an NBA player, Bro how.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
You feel about seeing Jerman fears. That's how I think
both of us feel about.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
I think Malik Thomas might have a Jeremidhir year this year.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
There's just so many people at Arkansas is dynamic. If
he starts, you got there's two more people.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
You still got Carter Knox there, Yeah, you got. There
is Darius Acuff going there and he's he's him. Yeah
you still you got j Wagon was still at Arkansas.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Oh you know, you know right he stayed home. You
got the other.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Lefty Damn the freshman that was a freshman in Arkansas
last year that came off the bench and was playing
well FORGOT.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
So this might be a development year. I mean he
might go crazy because he's raw.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
I mean they had two people come off the bench
go top five of the year before. So he's the
color party recipe.

Speaker 5 (19:13):
No, for sure, Bro, he male Thomas. Bro is a
special kid. I seen him here at UH. I don't
know what they call that ship. It was when the
E Y b L stops last year. He went crazy
bro at Pack at the Pack Center. Yeah, that's when
I became a fan. And then I think I believes
played for OT this year.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Yeah, there's some talent, bro, Because I was even looking
at that that Louisville team.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Shout out to Naptown, Royn Conbo going there, they got
two other Transpress's crazy Love was gonna be nasty this year.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Bro. If then goes all the way, Bro, we have
a final fourteen?

Speaker 6 (19:45):
Bro?

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Could we get tickets to that? Not saying like free,
what I'm saying, could we buy tickets or do a
Louiver game to a Louisville game.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
They already be gone, like UK, Ship, you can get
some tickets, you go.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
Yeah, they played in the Ship. Yeah, you know a
little more up straight though. I would love to go
see them hoop though. I just you know you can, Ship.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
They probably can go to a practice. I call coach Keil,
so we just want to come to a practice.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
I want to, Bro, Bro, I want to. I want
us to do that for sure, nah Man shout out
to them. Man.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
College basketball looking looking very prompt and again like you said,
a lot of people saying and you got people coming back.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
I think that's gonna turn the game up. Yeah, college
basketball is gonna be fire this year.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
But Ship, just talking to Commission Siver, he was just
like well, it's a good idea that they should stay.
That's that's saying something. They're like, hey, you can go
to draft you want to. I've seen a little bit
of the summer League. I didn't even see the real
summer league yet, but I'm like, yeah, it's vicious, and
especially everybody fighting for these roster spots now with money
being scarce in the NBA.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Boy, yeah, make as much money in college as you can.
Let's shot a little fire first round pick.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Bro.

Speaker 5 (20:46):
Yeah, yeah, I was watching what's the thing from Utah Ace, Bro,
It's a lot of niggas trying to get their work
in in Utah.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Bro Bright sense Ball was out there hooping like he
don't play minutes in the league.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Bro, heys, uh right on, be nasty. Damn niggas is
the same drink this motherfucker little yo.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
It looked like my drug test. Nah, ain't passing that one.
But there was some jokes.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
They were just like you taller league, they real teams out.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
The squalid bro An Association. Bro com down.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
But it seemed like, you know, and I know Bro
probably can speak from experience, of course, but that Utah team,
it seemed like everybody out there it's like, hey, nigga,
I'm trying to get paid.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
They are.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
They're all young, like Isaiah Coer his first year. Yeah,
they're all trying to show themselves too, Like, don't a baby.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
He could not get comfortable yet. The other day I
was watching him.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
That's how it's gonna be. They want to hoop too. Yeah, Bro,
they draft you here. Bro, don't think you're about to
come here.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
I mean, I don't put too much into a summer league.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
Putting nothing in the summer league, yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
I don't put too much. But I'm like, seeing him
out there, I was like, damn, he can't really get
comfortable for real.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
I've seen so many people killed summer league and never
get in the game in the NBA. You talking about that,
No disrespected Josh Selby. He's one of the best summer league.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Players ever know, Jeff, he is the best. Bro. He
murdered something. Murder everybody uniform league. He used to kill
summer Leakyrie cat.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
That's what you said that they just never seen it
pan out in the league.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
I mean he probably didn't get the opportunity or whatever,
but never paying out in the league. But in some
of league he looked like ship, like, what is he
doing out here?

Speaker 1 (22:42):
But he was in some league? Did you think it
was green?

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Like?

Speaker 3 (22:45):
I had a terrible summer league.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
I knew I was an NBA player though, Yeah, Like
because the thing is some of everybody going for them
and in real life, you know, like when you get
to the league, you're not gonna be to shoot that shot.
You definitely wouldn't shoot that. Joe gonna be right there.
I'm gonna be the one picking pop with al ain't

(23:07):
gonna be this sad nigga. You're not gonna be able
to just come down and ice saw somebody. No, that
ain't real life. But then you got people out there
who just play hard naturally can get buckets and shit,
and it just don't translate to the league because you
ain't gonna have a ball like that.

Speaker 5 (23:23):
I wonder if it has been like some success stories
like somebody that didn't get drafted.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Yeah, Austin Reeves, Austin Reeves murderer killed summer league. Yeah
I didn't know that.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Yeah, that's how he got a chance. He was undrafted,
went out there and got a spot. Granted, obviously he
was drafted, but Dovin Mitchell Dobin. Mitchell did in the
Summer League, got him that the data contract and kind
of set the tone. But I'm talking about somebody from Michael.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Like I said Austin Reeve's perspective, I didn't know how
that go, Like how hard is it to like, Okay,
I killed in the Summer League. Im my average fifteen
to twenty. Then I go to training camp, like.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
He gotta translate to when you get there, like you're
trying to obviously you're trying to kill some league to
get an invite to the camp, right what they call
veterans camp, real training camp.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
So you kill there, you get there, then you got
a final role.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
I use Caruso as an example, like he came in,
played defense, played this role, Like, oh damn, we can
use them as a defender. He can play hard, he
can do this, or Austin Reeves case, like damn, this
nigga can really just hoop. He can shoot, he can score,
he can do a little bit of everything. We like
this kid, and he just got a way different opportunity
than most people. But most people gotta find this little role.
It's either you a good knockdown shooter. I'm a really

(24:29):
good defender, a good rebounder, or whatever it is the
team need they looking for and you just kind of
fit that mode. But like you averaging twenty five, it's
probably not gonna have it.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
Yeah, So you're saying, don't go into the training camp
trying to beat the nigga he was in summer Na.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
That's not gonna be You obviously be aggressive, playoff game,
but you're gonna have to final role. Like you should
ask an assistant coach whoever it is, like, man, what
what's it like?

Speaker 3 (24:53):
What do the team need? What do they expect from me?
They can be, oh, we need you to play defense,
go hard.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Run the lane, and they'll tell you what they need,
and you should try to go perfect that and then
make corner threes.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
You know all.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
I'm saying you're gonna have a job, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Because I don't think a lot of kids get that game.
Because if you go into some league, like man, this
ship might be light how the average dub, then you
might get discouraged when you get to you know what
I mean. So the training Kevin my bucks say my nigga,
I need you to hit that corner there, Bro, Nigga,
get at her and shuffling your feet.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Got damn Yeah, I know you average went your college, bro,
but so everybody else is frosting what you're gonna do.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Now, you gotta go play a role. That's the hardest adjustment.
Like I give you an example. Jordan Crawford, which our brother.
We love him to death. Yeah, obviously we know he
could score in bunches. He was a prolific scorer. He
was a first round pick. But in Atlanta, he couldn't
figure out, like, why I'm not playing you know what
I mean? Yeah, because we got you already, got Jamal Crawford,

(25:52):
we got Joe Johnson. We got these dudes that score
already in your position. If he would have played defense
and locked up whatever, he probably would have played for me.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
You know what I mean, I'm being.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Real, because shit, you can't leave him in the corner.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
He's gonna knock that bitch down.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
He's saying that your game that you was.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
Yeah, but the difference was I picked the ball up
full court. A point guard gonna pick up full court
and make a pocket pass. I'm gonna kick it the Joe,
gett in the lane, kick it the Joe. He getting
in the lane. He would score that bitch. He coming
off the pick, I might be over for that pocket pass.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
Three ball he hit that bitch.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
He ain't doing nothing wrong.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
He ain't doing it wrong. That's not that's not looking.
That ain't the road we're looking for.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
So you knew as soon as you got the training
camp that.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
I because I've been there my first.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
When I first got the training camp, I didn't do
Summer league, so I had a mini camp, and I'm
averaging forty four points a game. I'm like, I can
score better than everybody. I'm better than everybody. Then when
I got there, I was still playing like that. I
never got in the game, So you like, the fuck
am I doing wrong? And then Nick benn Exell put

(27:04):
me to this. I was like, he made twenty eight
million dollars a year, he made fourteen, he make fifteen,
he make a he make a he make you know,
pointed out, He's like, you make one.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
I'm like, all right, I'm better than niggas. He was like,
do he want to play with you? Boss?

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Like do Joe want you on his team? I'm like,
I don't know. He was like axing, like, Joe, you
want me on your team? Like shit, I don't know
what you can do with y'r fellow man, I don't know.
He was like, he don't want you on your team.
I was like, yeah, yeah, like he don't want you
on the team, you know.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
I was like why. He was like, you ain't looking
for him. He's like that nigga.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Want to score that nigga wanna make the All Star team.
You gotta learn how to find this nigga. And when
he passed to you, make your shot, he don't want to.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
Play with you.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
I figured that shit out. Get the ball to Joe,
look for Joe, running down full speed, find Joe. I
started doing that Joe like, you don't.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Feel it gonna be ah, you don't feel it gonna
be light.

Speaker 7 (27:58):
You don't feel it gonna be alright.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Saying I was doing that so much.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
All of a sudden, Josh like, all you do is
past the ball to joke.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
Okay, let me feed Josh a little bit, throw him
a couple of paths, throw him alive here and there.
I was like, fuck scoring, I'm just gonna be the
best passer. Al sudden, Josh like, cool, you're gonna be
You keep working on this ship, man, you're gonna be
You're gonna be.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Like, Okay, just get these niggas the ball.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
They like you cool.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
Yeah that was that was never Jordan's game. No, I
mean that was not never your game. But you was
more willing to adjust him.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Yeah, Jordan like I'm better than him.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Me.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
I'm like.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Joe had excell in my ears shout to Nick.

Speaker 4 (28:40):
He'd just be like, man, you you can get eight
million dollars nigga funk all that averaging twenty niggas get
eight million dollars nig He was like, once you get
the money, then you can say fuck these niggas. Get
the money for you know what I mean. I'm like,
let me just start passing this mother fucker. It's like,
once they sign you, it's fuck him then.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
I like that. That's good.

Speaker 5 (29:02):
She was able to listen and adjust though quick because
I don't even know. But see then, like I say, now,
I feel like a lot of kids don't respect the
old heads. We were still in that merriage, like damn,
that's Nick van Exel for sure. Niggas a look at
nigga now.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
Like, man, I but your ass I was in all
the quick.

Speaker 7 (29:22):
Yeah you know what I'm saying, and talk to him.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
That's Nick Vannex.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Yeah, but that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (29:28):
I don't think kids now look at players like you
know what I'm saying at the same position that we
Nick vann Xel was a god to us.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
Bro nigga Jay Z said handle the rock like Vnxel.
Even I'm like, I walk in here like quick, gonna
work you out.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
You know, that's Nick vann x And then the niggas
still cold out there like man, get that burner right,
you know what I mean, you gotta be I'm like, man,
I like to shoot off the drive.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
Well even get no dribble shots in this motherfucker. That
nigga name is Ice sold Joe. He was like, so
Joe and or not like he get the dribble. That's
Ice old Joe.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Damn.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
He adjusted a lot to the league too, he had to, Bro.
But I'm saying Joe came in that motherfucker like he
was running the one in Phoenix, like the legit one.
I never thought that Joe was no but I'm saying,
I mean he was the backup one. Yeah, Joe was
the backup fucking point guard in Phoenix. And to see
him like when I saw him a person, because he
always said like bigger, bigger than what you think. I'm like,

(30:32):
hell no, bro, Thigga, biggest Lebron James Bro. And I'm like, damn,
Now he's like the star of the team. That's crazy
at Bro, because what was he like was he six
minutes on the team?

Speaker 4 (30:44):
Yeah he started with him, but like fifteen yeah from
the three Richard was there too, right, And I'm a
whip bro.

Speaker 5 (30:53):
And for him to lead that team, I'm like, Dad,
he didn't have like a James Harden effect almost you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
I went to Atlanta and turned that bit up franchise.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
That ship was crazy, Bro.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
Nigga said, that's a you So Joe.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Joe out the gate man shouts a nigga. Next man
shot his pots and he got the pot.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Bro shout to my dog quick.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
That number nine like your jersey bro Lesiondarry.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Yeah, that's crazy, man, because you talk about people not
even listening to people like that. Even in his situation
now like Bro ain't no overhead, but it's a lot
of people who have conversation with him and still not
really take the game.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
I'm tapped in with these kids I like to stay around,
like just to pick their brains with ship.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Bro.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
And I'm not gonna say they don't have no respect.
They just genuinely don't give a fuck about what a
nigga did in the past.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
They don't They do not.

Speaker 5 (31:44):
Care if you was a McDonald's all American, all this
ship that they trying to reach, they automatically thinking like
right now, bush your ass. Yeah, Bro, you're not robbing him.
But that's who gets praised. Well, he was working, Bro.
This is what a shout out. I don't know his romel, Bro.
Romelo is a guy, Bro, a guy bro shout out

(32:05):
to a little Romelo. But he's not like one of
the best basketball players. That's why I'm like, fame takes
over like work ethic for real. He like this big
but he can jump out the gym.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Bro.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
But I'm like, damn, he's not even one of the
best players in here, and he getting more love than
all these niggas.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Bro. That's when I knew times have really changed though
even a little recent his homeboys, I'll tell them about
something that like he played ot and I'll say no
that They're like, Okay, I'm like, damn, Bro.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Like it's a lot of good people out here.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Yeah, that's the fact that ship in culture in high school.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Bro, Like I had to literally play for them to
respect what I'm saying, like to it, like I have
to go out there and be like kill him, and
they'll be like, I'm like, like, you stronger than me,
you faster than me. You did I'm like, duh, nigga,
I'm better than you. Then I was like, I was
like to make it worse, like when I was your age,

(32:59):
I was younger and faster back then. Like I was like,
I don't do none of that ship no more. I
don't even who. But they don't. They don't understand. They
be like, you not that you ain't that when the
league you only average sixteen, You be like, okay, you
might not.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Make it to the league, And then you can't say
that because it's.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Like you don't want to kill them. Yeah only average sixteen,
you know, you know what, sixteen points and they will
get you.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
That's what bothers me the most is just that they
genuinely don't understand. That piss me off the most because
they have the talent, it is.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
Just the work, bro.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
They live in such a different world that like the
NBA people are so accessible, Like you can go on Instagram,
you can go wherever and you can always see your
favorite NBA player. You can go to a Peach jam
Au tournament and one of your favorite NBA players team
is there. He there, Yeah, he talking to you, He
joking with you. He he accessible. It don't feel like

(33:53):
a unrealistic thing anymore.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
True.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
So when they talk to you now, they ain't really unrealistic.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
It's like it's the norm, you man, I know, I
know right, I know him. I know man.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
I've seen me and was talking the other day and
average twenty eight. Bro, you ever sixteen?

Speaker 1 (34:09):
You not like you be? Like, do you know how
far removed you are from Anthony Aver? No facts? Facts? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (34:18):
Bro, that's You're right, bro. I guess that's what it is,
respecially how far where you remove from me let alone. Hey, Okay,
I'll be saying how they talk, and I think I
fuck with it because I love to see kids with
high confidence. Yeah, but I still be wanting them to understand, like,
come on, man, bring it back to real life with
this ship at least a little.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
Bit like being It's like we made the NBA look
too easy being from Indianapolis, yep, because you were so many,
You're so random that you would just see somebody pop
up to the league, like shout out to the young
boy from South being they got very small. Yeah, it
just seemed easy. It just seemed like, all right, if
I go to college and average eighteen, I'm get drafted.

(35:00):
Yeah that's how I feel.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
They think no matter where you go.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Yeah, that's how I feel.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
Like, it don't seem like oh yeah, oh boy, Like
you see Kyle guy, like Kyle got went to the league, Like,
I'm like, it ain't that easy, bro, Like, man, I
gave Kyle god buckets before you, Like I.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Heard the motherfucker speak on Yogi like that. I was like, yeah,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
But it's so many players from around here and made
it so it make it seem like it's damn there, like.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Now you gotta do with be damn all you gonna
make the league. Bro. That's how they feel.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
That's crazy, man. But like you said, it is different.
Accessibility is something totally different. At this age, you didn't
because I mean even we left to our old head too,
we probably didn't give a fuck as much as they did.
But we just probably had a lesser accessibility rate to
everybody else. So it's still meant something when you've seen it.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Now, I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
When I seen a person that made to the league,
it wasn't about to make it to the league. Like
the thing made me respect. I just look at their
car real, yeah, like Off the Ripper, Like Chris Thomas
had a Champagne range. He ain't make it to the league,
but he was making a million whatever he was overseas
and automatically, I'm like, Dan, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (36:14):
These niggas got range rovers in college.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Now it's like that's all about saying.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Now the difference is an I l sixteen seventeen, they
might be up one hundred bands.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
They like what I got a meal to go to Kentucky?
What you talking about?

Speaker 1 (36:27):
You know what I mean? Nah, that's definitely the difference.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
When I used to see Oh NBAF, I'm like, damn bro,
that's really even a nigga like no disrespect, Like Dereck.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
I'm like, damn bro, you really like available for me
to talk to? Like go Bro was me and this
hell like you know you.

Speaker 7 (36:43):
Know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (36:44):
He wasn't like Jordan's. But I'm like, I still respected you, cause, nigga,
you literally made it. You come from nothing, bro, Like
that shit is a thing. Kids are so spoiled now
they this nigga was weak.

Speaker 7 (36:56):
They don't go to you being weak, not your fuck
your jersey.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Hell made to the league, was tracked niggas. D Davids
x Bow was gig bro. They weren't violent.

Speaker 5 (37:09):
And I met Travis Best nigga at the Black ex
BO shout out to fucking Imperis nigga.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Used to have the all game. I met.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Andrew and James nigga, Reggie Wayne nigga in my life
was made brot These kids are walking past these niggas
bro like an.

Speaker 4 (37:28):
I met Derek Anderson nigga at a at a tournament
in Kentucky. Bro Hey, he had a fannel with his
name on d A all that she came out from Jordan.
He had some Jordan Toob's bro pe b. I thought, nah,
for real, I was stearing everywhere you walk like, there
you go, man, niggas.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Dude, like we've seen d A now you know my
life we still like.

Speaker 5 (37:55):
I talked to d A nigga Orland. I was like, ah, bro,
you know even just staying Nigga, that number one, like
Penny is number one forever, but you helped that with
that number one, that big guard type shit like niggas
just tapped in.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
Bro.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
Yeah, they they don't have that same nostalgia like maybe
the little kids like seeing like re seeing some of
the OT players, he might get that feeling because they so.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Was like a ten year gap.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
You think social media would have ruined you if we
had it in eighth grade? Nah, because I still was
just a basketball here. I knew how like impossible that
shit was.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
I was realistic, like Nigga the NBA, bro, Like it
just didn't even feel like a real thing.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
Like the NBA don't feel real, Bro. You don't think
nobody can make it to the NBA.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Yeah you know what, especially even like in your situation
about you was the first round pick.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
The teams rock with you.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
You made your way, but like even just hear the

It was the number one player when we was in
like seventh grade.

Speaker 5 (47:03):
Bro, Taylor Kings six seven, girl, I believe Taylor probably
went the duke or some ship. You want to do
that first, Bro, in high school the left hand burner, Bro,
from the top of the key automatic.

Speaker 4 (47:15):

shot far as hell.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
That's what I have, specialist, Bro, your job, Taylor.

Speaker 3 (47:42):
That's a crazy day that nigga went to do. No disrespect,
it was.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
We seen him. Yes, he's supping in. Were about to
really win. As far as draft flastes go, y'all are

might have the most All Stars selections. I'm not I'm
not trying to how you work. I'm just telling you
like that ship. Bro, It's a lot of people in
his ship.

Speaker 2 (48:19):
Bro oh j especially Gordon came into the league averaging
the dub with the Clippers.

Speaker 1 (48:24):
We got m v got a m v P couple, Uh,
Derrick Rose and James Harder. Yeah, I found it. That
was ninety sixty six.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
Got the most stars.

Speaker 1 (48:36):
Yeah, they class right, or that's a high school class.
That's a draft, that's them. We're talking about your high school.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
Jeff have gotta be number one, bro oh seven high
school class, Nigga, Blake Griffin.

Speaker 1 (48:54):
Everybody we named.

Speaker 2 (48:57):
Everybody name was like leader Niggas came Nigga oh j
KM to the league, averaging eighteen with Rudy gave Bro
on his team. Bro and Rudy used to put the
bitches up shot s Memphis. I remember, Yes, Bro, it's
a good ass class man for sure. Man for we
out here. When I shod this question, I've been seeing
a lot of back and forth talking about the ones
and stuff I've seen ow the new battle possibly might
be Swaggy P versus Bees, a man did that alone?

Speaker 1 (49:23):
A long bee on some real ship.

Speaker 5 (49:26):
Bees fighting for something different, y'all niggas enjoying life and
keep enjoying life. Could y'all put them up? I heard
him say when they was on ice C or whatever
they call it. Yeah, Bro, Bees is quiet. Yeah, yeah,
he gonna pick all you.

Speaker 1 (49:41):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (49:42):
I like to see him play Joe though, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
Because last week Joe was sucking them niggas up. I say,
I watched that Big Three game. He gave him and
Lands whatever they needed.

Speaker 2 (49:51):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (49:52):
Joe Johnson is forty four?

Speaker 2 (49:53):
Bro?

Speaker 1 (49:55):
Why yeah? Why y'all still playing with me? Bro?

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Joe different?

Speaker 1 (49:59):
Why yeah? Still playing with me?

Speaker 2 (50:00):
Bro? First of all, Man, we all talked about your career.
May were crazy, Mark Vian, But how did you get there?

Speaker 1 (50:09):
Man? Going crazy in Tennessee? What was that like hooping
down there in Memphis? Man? Man?

Speaker 6 (50:13):
Growing up Memphis had some good basketball, some good players
that some went into the league. Some you know, it
was good, very good college players growing up in Memphis.
You know, it was it was fun just being on
the floor, being there. I knew I definitely wanted to
get away with my college decision, and it was actually
crazy because my high school coach was old teammates with

(50:36):
with a coach who was on staff and Marquette, and
he basically ended up hitting them up and then we
went went out there for a team camp. They recruited
me for like a year. Man took them a year
to offer. Mess committed a week later. I knew that's
why I want. I knew that's where I wanted to go.

Speaker 1 (50:50):
Okay, I heard you play center at one point. Yeah,
I played center high school. I was.

Speaker 6 (50:57):
I was the tallest player on the floor for real.
We had a big we had a we had a
bigger football player. But he was a football player. He
wasn't really you know everybody football. I'm everybody basketball team.
He couldn't hoop for real though. He wasn't who won
his main sport he was. He had Clemson of football
right now, so doing this thing cool he had at.

Speaker 1 (51:18):
Here and found.

Speaker 6 (51:20):
Yeah, I definitely played the five man did big man
drews every day in practice at the skills balls.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (51:26):
But it's crazy how that translated because I made I
shot hella jump hooks this past year, like jump hook
and spind jump hooks, and you know that it's just automatic,
just from all the work I put in that year.

Speaker 1 (51:36):
So did you play one and five in high school
or did your coach let you know, be versatile or yeah,
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (51:41):
We had a we had a younger point guard that
was that was pretty good, so he had the ball
most of the time.

Speaker 1 (51:46):
Okay, okay, that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (51:48):
Went from center to actually being a point guard now
about to be a point guard in the NBA. It
ain't no way in Hill coach would have told me
to play center.

Speaker 7 (51:56):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm trying to figure out
how you was finessing man.

Speaker 1 (51:59):
Bro, You I ain't gonna love, Bro.

Speaker 6 (52:01):
I was getting doubled, like in the post catching the
post catch, instant double.

Speaker 5 (52:05):
Gotta make it work, ran live, bro short guys, you
my new favorite player. But I didn't know that, Bro
for you center. But make it to the n b
A as a PG. Bro, that's a hell of a journey.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
Bro.

Speaker 4 (52:18):
I thought he was posted. I thought he was just
jumping center and bringing them going to the post.

Speaker 1 (52:23):
Right. You might get the post. You bigger than everybody.

Speaker 7 (52:26):
You might got a smaller guard, but that's for you
to be a straight center.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
Nigga. We got this guard. We don't need you bing.

Speaker 6 (52:33):
I brought it. I ain't bring it up that much.
Sometimes I get a rebound and take it. But yeah,
we coachesould be like full round camp. We're trying to
feed it. Wow, that's crazy way you you got recruited.

Speaker 1 (52:45):
What if I you.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
I'm sorry, I don't want to get ahead, but you
gotta explain that it was different.

Speaker 1 (52:54):
I played like the one two A okay, So.

Speaker 7 (52:57):
I'm trying to forget how to funk.

Speaker 1 (52:58):
You got rude. Give me the hell six four center.
I was like, yeah, I was like, no, wonder it
took him a year. They ain't see something center.

Speaker 2 (53:11):
A deal. It was fun though. It was definitely fun. Yeah, Hey,
I respect your mindset, bro, because you really locked in.
For you to be like, I'm going to mark he, Bro,
you got another point barre feed to I would.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
Have had a problem. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (53:23):
I would have been like, he got to come off
the bench, coach, I gotta play the five. I'm not
playing the one.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
Bro. They never heard that in my life. Bro, we
have sat down.

Speaker 5 (53:31):
I've known hell of basketball play before you destroyed played
center in high school and runner one to add you
you different, Bro, appreciate it, but for real.

Speaker 4 (53:39):
That probably helps you though a lot because you probably
became a good rebounder.

Speaker 1 (53:41):
It was definitely yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (53:43):
You can see the floor, you can play multiple positions.
You probably know one through five obviously, but that probably
helps your game expand.

Speaker 1 (53:49):
For sure, especially in the paint like the paint finishing. Yeah,
it's definitely. M Marquette was the main people on you
or did you have any other looks?

Speaker 6 (53:58):
I had some some good in majors Okay, yeah, I
kind of do. I wanted to go home major and
I knew it was possible for me. So once Marque offered,
I was like, yeah's pretty much where I want to go.

Speaker 1 (54:09):
This is an offer.

Speaker 3 (54:11):
Mm hmmmm.

Speaker 1 (54:13):
Was a penny there there? Yeah? I had to be
That's all right, Bro, it happens. Bro. Is this rumor
any truth that wake Forest was interested in you?

Speaker 5 (54:23):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (54:24):
I think wake Forest might have shown interest. They didn't.

Speaker 3 (54:26):
They weren't recruiting me for Okay, don't worry about it.
We make mistakes all the time.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
Did they give you the ball right away? You had
to come in, you know what I mean? Mark at
Man coach smart? Was he really let us play so
like he kind of seen what I do.

Speaker 1 (54:42):
Yeah, he'd go. Man.

Speaker 2 (54:43):
But once he seen what I could do a little bit,
you know, he would pull me to the side as
a freshman, like you, when you get the ball, go score,
go be aggressive. Yeah he like he'd be talking ship
like go like scoring his ass, cam scoring him.

Speaker 1 (54:55):
It's funny.

Speaker 6 (54:56):
Now that's a player's dream. I was definitely definitely a
player's coach. Like he said that games like I had
a ball on the do.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
Like just go that's him? Yeah for sure, show for sure,
kill him, like kill her, kill her, don't want to go?
That used to be the team tam catch right before.

Speaker 5 (55:19):
If it's like you, that's dope because a lot of people,
they say a lot of people that I hadn't met
through this ship. They was like, when they get to school,
it'd be different than actual recruitments, Like, yeah, bro, this
ain't how you came to my house and told me
that was gonna be so for you to have that
instant love, that's far.

Speaker 4 (55:36):
And then one of my kids getting recruited by Market,
I might tell them the truth now yeah, sure, yes,
that's that's funny.

Speaker 1 (55:43):
Obviously. Man.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
You know you went to Market for hoop. You know
what I'm saying boxing, was that your first love to uh? No,
I won my first love. I pretty much picked up
love for being around my dad. He liked to watch
a lot of fights, big time fights. She grew up
a huge Mayweather fan watchviews. Yeah, for sure, pretty much.

Speaker 6 (55:59):
When I got to Walkee, was able to find a
good coach with coach Angel up there, a good facility
up there, and you know, I was just training up
there for years.

Speaker 2 (56:06):
Get for your fighter, uh Man Aero Spence. His last
fight was rough Man. He got the ship. Shout out
to him. But it's crazy though.

Speaker 6 (56:17):
But did go crazy? Yeah, Yeah, I rock with Spence.
It's some good upcome up and coming young fighters too.

Speaker 1 (56:22):
Like who you like?

Speaker 4 (56:23):
I'm in the like molting, Okay, I like do the
Mason He's probably he nice though for sure. I just
hope he nice. But up, I just hope he continue
and I hope he has some good I hope he
fights some good fighters. You know how I go like no, no,
no shake the tang Davison now, But they don't really
fight the best fighters. I feel what you're saying, Like

(56:45):
like cour he fought some fighters, but he ain't found
nobody really nice yeah.

Speaker 6 (56:50):
He waiting on that on that big time fight. At
least it seems like it seemed like, yeah, I like
to I like boots too, man boots.

Speaker 1 (56:57):
Yeah, nights in the rain. I'm sorry, I was quite
a few times. Nobody ever knock you out. No, I
ain't never, I ain't never knocked down yet.

Speaker 2 (57:05):
Okay, okay, big yeah, I know my boy, my boy
Turner boxing, Now we got it.

Speaker 4 (57:14):
He sent me the footage man telling me set up
the celebrity match for him and land.

Speaker 1 (57:23):
Lance. That's some good ones right there. And I was like,
celebrity matches make money, bro, straight up, the real dated
a real boxing right now? Boys did with that man
that charged the white fight at me? Weak you too,

(57:46):
that's I know. We're gonna talk about that. That was
a classic.

Speaker 4 (57:55):
We did the ring walk walk down, kept going. He
might have to be a real curve yees, so I
act like us. You might just have to come give
a sad over the season badly do that for sure.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
Sure obviously had a great real market man, Like you said,
freshman year got alclimatic. What was that time where you
felt like, all right, I'm ready that's my team.

Speaker 1 (58:16):
Man?

Speaker 6 (58:17):
Right when that uh It took me a while to
get over that sweet sixteen lost my junior year, and man,
I'm still youing over how we went out senior year.
But yeah, once I got over pretty much, you know,
coach pulled me into his office and was like, Okay,
I'm not gonna go in the portal and fish for
no point guard because I think there's something you can
do for us at this level, for this team. So man,

(58:37):
putting a hell of work over the summer, working on
my game, watching individual film with teammates, getting our two
man game right, learning how you know more, learning more
about them as people, learning more about what they like,
what they like to do on the floor, and we
was able to just you know, go out there and
do our thing.

Speaker 1 (58:54):
It was a lot of fun. For sure. I was
definitely big. He's definitely not an easy conference of player.

Speaker 2 (58:57):
It was one of your favorite games with your hot
your favorite moments in college. You know, I'm saying we're
crazy just.

Speaker 1 (59:03):
In college in general.

Speaker 2 (59:04):
Uh, probably getting the triple double against Purdue because due
we we owed them.

Speaker 1 (59:11):
They had beat us my sophomore year. We pretty much
had them.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
We played them here, gave that game away, then we
lost him in the Malied Classic Championship.

Speaker 1 (59:21):
That was painful, very painful.

Speaker 6 (59:23):
It was it's a story behind that, but uh yeah,
so we played in my senior year and we was like, bro, y'all,
y'all not.

Speaker 1 (59:29):
Beating us, bro. So that was pretty much our mindset for.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
Y'all have to be the same conference, y'all playing three
times three times. Yeah, we turned into a home and
home after the Mali game. So my senior year and
they're gonna play him here this year coming up.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
Okay, I watched we got a kid named Ryan's last name, yeah,
Ryan Kid. Yeah, but I've seen y'all have a little
duel in the Guard real dude. Yeah, y'all going crazy.
I hate our opponents. I understand.

Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Damn, I'm gonna lie. He was flying, it was going crazy.

Speaker 6 (01:00:10):
He had thirty eight. Yeah, y'all both was going there.
Uh like twenty six if you assist. Okay, they had
a duel. I was like, damn, that's that's why I

a tough conference. It's always tough in here, like even
like seeing all only win in the conference was against Yukon.

Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
It's really like no game you could just pull up
and just be your way through. Yeah, I'll be man
ye on one game against the Yeah, in fact, they man.

Speaker 6 (01:01:03):
That ain't the first time they lost it, No, honestly, Yeah,

Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Could you play for a coach like that? Coach Early
keep it real? Yeah, I feel like he loves his players.
I mean he's just a little he got a little
screws all coaches. I gotta have a little screw.

Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
Bro.

Speaker 5 (01:01:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:01:25):

Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
Noah, Yeah, I was just saying like that, that's style.
Yeah sure, yeah, sure, yeah, he'd be on one. I'm
trying to get him to start acting like that. That's
why you ain't gonna do that. You ain't got that
so cool but I cut you out. I make a
joke afterwards, like boy boy, you sat all right?

Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
Boy man?

Speaker 6 (01:01:54):

you know, brand deals or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
It was. It was love, man, for sure. That's far.

Speaker 2 (01:02:56):

Thirty thirty eight color fours and the ones.

Speaker 2 (01:03:34):

all March colors. He's gonna pull them real quick.

Speaker 1 (01:03:40):

Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
I hope it ain't the forest I'm thinking about.

You declared, how was that that pre draft workout?

Speaker 1 (01:05:04):
What was that like? Man? Man?

Speaker 6 (01:05:06):
My my pre draft experience was a little interesting because
I got hurt in the combine.

Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
I had had a grade too hamstring like strain or tear.
Sat out for a few h for a few weeks.
Then I was able to go to a few pre
draft workouts and do like one on nose shooting. So
I was just pretty much there on the sidelines, given energy,
talking ship, yeah, just encouraging people.

Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
Yeah, it was cool. And then I shot at the
end of workout, so it was it was pretty cool
pre draft process. So similar to you, that was.

Speaker 4 (01:05:38):
Mom right there. I had sprained my m CL. I
had a great two spring my m C. I had
to sit out like that. I didn't really do no
shooting drills or nothing, but very similar to you.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
You went to song. Yeah, I went to Philly the
day before the draft and I shot in Indiana. That
was it. Let me stop you to set even on
a real tour. Yeah, real tour. Oh wow? All right.

Speaker 5 (01:06:05):
You in the league now, man, So what's what's something
you feel like you can work on on your game?
What's one of your weaknesses?

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
Man?

Speaker 6 (01:06:13):
First and foremost is getting stronger, Getting my body stronger.
In the league a long time, bodies are much more mature.
They know how to train. So you know, that's one area.
Making sure just getting faster, getting stronger, making sure my
body is prepared, and just cleaning everything up with both hands, passing,
finishing around the rim. Uh, you know my lad of

(01:06:33):
the movement for defense and because you know we're gonna
be picking up four yeah, yeah, you know, just constantly
working on that, getting reps in that, you know, because
I'm looking forward to know I'm already doing it. Just
adapting to the pace away, you know, really embodying that
embody and what that means.

Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
I was like, you know, you got drafted, boy, I
want to ask you make it trying to make it.

Speaker 7 (01:07:02):
Said damn praise there that said, Mom, it's like we
got it, Griffy.

Speaker 1 (01:07:17):
Laughing hard my father about it. All right, So it's
about today man from going there?

Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
All right, but we know you got drafted by the face.
Where did you think you might go?

Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
Did you have any teams that was interested you or
the idea where you make got drafted that or a promise? Uh?

Speaker 6 (01:07:47):
I didn't get a promise. Well, I knew I was
going to Indiana when they traded up to get thirty eight. Okay,
I talked that out with my agent. We feel this
is this spot for me to be at, and it's
somewhere I wanted to go with, like I only wanted to, well,
I wanted to. I guess I preferred. I really didn't
care where I went. But if you would have had

(01:08:07):
to ask me, it was a.

Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
Few teams that I prefer Indiana with one of them
for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
So I'll try to get him.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
That's a cool way to do it against I'm trying
to bring it in like a light that love to listen.
You'll know, I forget.

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
It's funny because your style plays like perfect for the patients. Obviously, Man,
you in the College and awards. It's his turn on
racial team that gets up and down the court. You
can make good decisions. Man. You watch the team obviously
in the finals, man, just like I can lock in
with them for Shure.

Speaker 6 (01:08:42):
Yeah, most definitely, That's what I was still watching them
the whole playoffs, Like you know, I rock with this system.

Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
Just how they running and playing similar to similar to Marchet. Yeah,
you go.

Speaker 4 (01:08:52):
Good about the opportunity. I was about to say, it's
a big opportunity with Tyre's being out for the season.
Obviously they got TJ mccon on. They probably got some
other guards that we're not thinking of right now. I'm
not sure they picked up They probably picked up somebody
in free agency. But you gotta have a big opportunity though.

Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
It's hoping for you.

Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
That's one thing about this. I wish you would the
game paused on different circumstances. I'm saying a lot of
turmoil going on right now. You definitely get a chance
to play.

Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
I love that for you, my boy.

Speaker 6 (01:09:16):

like what that music scene was like though, Like.

Speaker 6 (01:13:51):
Man, it was like around my junior senior year high school,
Memphis was on a crazy run. All these all these
people that you just name is kind of on the up,
up and coming. That's all you heard, just in cars
running around throughout the day in the gym.

Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
Mum hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Yeah, I ain't gonna lie when I'm in the gym.
I'm more of a like a mellow type guy, like like,
no cat was in there, Drake. But when I didn't
have especially in Memphis, you know it was it wasn't that.
So I learned a lot of a lot of songs
from that. So yeah, I definitely learned about a few
artists listening around.

Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
Okay, okay, yeah, chill, chill. He like us, like me,
like they like well, they like new Ship. I don't

Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
Mephis you're a Grizzly fan by chance, So who did
you rock with?

Speaker 6 (01:15:34):
I was never really a Grizzies fan. I kind of
grew up a players guy. Okay, I used to like
Kobe a lot. M M for sure, Steph. So those
are my top two players I really liked. But that
great and grind era was that it was cool like
that with Tony Allen them. Yeah, Tony Allen, Zach grandolg,
Marty pig three.

Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
Yeah. Yeah, they turned Memphis up for real, It really did.

Speaker 5 (01:15:57):
Mike Connley from mar City Yeah, yeah, they had a
crazy run. Who you will model your game after or
do you see yourself similar to anybody in the league
right now?

Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
Yeah? For sure.

Speaker 6 (01:16:12):
I was thinking, like my interviews always gave comps like
Derek White. Okay, I'm kind of like a h I
was in my interviews. I was actually saying them hard
kind of guys like that that can play one.

Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
In the two.

Speaker 6 (01:16:23):
Yeah, do what you need and catch and shoot. Okay,
can handle the ball, make the right play with the ball,
don't turn it over. Those are two of my main guys.

Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
Got sha, man, that's a valuable player right now. I
ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 4 (01:16:35):

for the youngster man going into his rookie year, man,

Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
Like I swear the guy, everything that you're thinking you
want to do, it's gonna be there in your ten, twelve, fifteen, twenty.
My biggest advice the girls ain't going nowhere. That was
my kryptonite. I lived in Atlanta as a rookie. I
went out, so I'm telling you they're gonna beat there
in the summer. They're gonna be there everywhere. So throughout
that year, stay in the gym. First to leave, I
mean first to first to get there last. But I

(01:17:21):
was the first to leave. Gonna be the first to
the first to get their last to leave. Every single
time man live in the gym. Bro was definitely I'm
gonna do that. Yeah, living there, Bro, it ain't nothing
else to do, especially you and Andy. I'll tell you
you can call us anytime we be down here. We'll
be chilling, but we'll come shoot with you too. I
probably bust you some one on one steal. Okay, we're
going to see that ship. Like, listen, listen, I'm old.

Speaker 1 (01:17:46):
I still go.

Speaker 3 (01:17:47):
Sure, but just live in the gym, bro.

Speaker 4 (01:17:50):
Bro, that's why Indiana like a perfect place to come
because it ain't too much going on.

Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
You still can get out and ship, but live.

Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
In the gym. Call me for all your off court activities. Yeah,
you got any questions, Bro, you need never to go
where to eat? We got you. Make sure to take
care of the show man. I appreciate you having me on. Yeah,
it's easy.

because you can't. Man, A lot of people don't come
on the show when they first gear.
