and he's been in studio before. He joins us on
the phone and he'll be at the punchline tonight tonight

(00:42):
only the Wednesday Show one Show, seven thirty pm headlining Sean.
I know you live on my side of the bay,
and you know what, I don't blame you. The bridge
was kind of messed up today.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, unfortunately my incredibly stylished twenty eleven Hundai Sonata was
not up to the task this morning.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Do you know that I'm not.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Trying to make everyone jealous in the listening audience of
How Glamorous My Life? It's a comedian, is Rick?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Well, you did make me jealous because I drove my
oh nine Sonata into the city today. Oh touchet, Fred,
how many miles you got on it?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I am at one thirty one.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
I'm at two fifty six.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Oh my god. I know.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Maybe it's because I work as a janitor in Sanway Sidro.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, well that makes sense. I mean,
you gotta you gotta commute for a good job like that.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Now you also with the Roundball Rock NBA podcast. You
are an NBA officionado, and you know there's a few
comedians Sam Marill and others that I can talk NBA with. Rappaport,
what about the I was I was just saying this
before Steph got hurt. I said, this is the worst

(02:04):
Warrior playoff team I've ever seen. And now you got
these clowns like Pajemski, who I hated way before he
started sucking in the playoffs. I'm I'm pretty anti white,
but I mean, it's just it's it's okay, but it's
too bad they have to fly to Minneapolis now for
this funeral march. They should just say, you know what,

(02:24):
We're not going to show up. What do you think?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, well, I mean I think I think they can
send a real message by They could put out a
pretty good whitewash of an opening lineup. Get Quentin Post
in there, get Brandon Pajemski in there, get Pat Spencer
in there. This is what people in Minnesota have been
dreaming of seeing on a basketball court. Anyway, have some

(02:50):
fun with it in Game five.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
You know, it's funny about Pat Spencer, who who Actually
I would rather see him than Pajeenski, to tell you
the truth, I think he's a better basketball player. But
the T shirt, the Freddie Mercury mustache, everything about him
says like the beer belly league that I used to plan.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Oh yeah, I mean they people all I have said
this before too, that he's just one of the great
college lacrosse players.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, And that's what it seems like. It seems like
he's from a different sport and he wandered in and
hadn't seen basketball, didn't know that sixty one was not
really an NBA jersey, And he's just vibing. You know,
it's starting. He's almost gotten into two fights with two
different centers. I mean, he just doesn't care.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Well, Yeah, that's what I love about the guy. You're right,
sixty one is the worst basketball number ever. But how
about the fact that he wins two lacrosse heismans, so
to speak, and he doesn't he doesn't play in that league.
He's like, no, I'm going to be an NBA player,
And he made the team and he's playing in the
playoffs with Steph Curry. So I tipped my hat to

(04:04):
him when it comes to that.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, I can't even imagine the conversation he had with
his lacrosse coach about that. It's like, yeah, I'm just
gonna walk on the basketball team. This is gonna work out.
It'll be fine. That he was the number one pick
in the Lacrosse League draft after he graduated, but he
he he turned down literally tens of hundreds of dollars

(04:29):
professional lacrosse. The NBA is dead.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Well, as of I played football and lacrosse in college,
and I can tell you that lacrosse is is cool.
But being in the NBA, if you if you have
a chance to be in the NBA or playing the
Lacrosse League, if you have just the outside chance, I
think he I think he made the right choice. And
I'm sure he could always go back to lacrosse, right right.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Right, Like, I don't think being in the NBA is
to ruin his conditioning for the world of lacrosse. Basically, yeah,
all right, so I think he'd probably come back and
be almost overly strong.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Actually, yeah he could. He could literally come back and
just laugh at everyone, right or maybe I don't know,
it's a different skill. I shouldn't say that, but yeah,
tremendous athlete. I'll give him. I'll give him credit for
being a tremendous athlete. But I sort of feel like
the window is now shut. Unless Yannis finds his way

(05:30):
to the Bay Area. I think the window now is shut.
I can't imagine the Warriors being better next year. And
I also have never seen a playoff team use fourteen
guys like it's the preseason. So your thoughts on the
window perhaps closing.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Well, I mean, they are showing they had a very
good Summer League team this year, and actually, a surprise
exember of those guys are still playing in May, so
that's not really great. They don't really have a lot
of flexibility because of how much Jimmy Butler and Steph
Curry make I actually think the bold move that is

(06:10):
lingering I don't think they'll do it, but to trade
Draymond Green.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Well, I wanted to Draymond drives us all crazy. But
we also know that it doesn't work without him. But
I wanted to trade Draymond about five years ago. I
don't think I think it's kind of too late. Steph
makes the calls and Steph wants to Dre so he's
going to say stay, I want to ask you too,

(06:35):
because a couple of weeks ago I had comedian Taylor
Williamson in again and he said that he will get
gigs and they think they booked Taylor Tomlinson. So for you,
does anyone ever I mean Sean Keen maybe the most
common name in Ireland. There's a singer in Ireland with
that name, as you probably know, does anyone ever think

(06:58):
that they book him?

Speaker 2 (07:01):
There is I got a series of messages from a
very polite but persistent Irish couple asking me about an
upcoming show I had, and I, you know, I explained
like I'm a comedian, I'm not the singer from Ireland,
and they kept writing back and saying like, oh okay,
totally understood. So he'll be performing after you or the

(07:26):
next day when is that going to happen. There's also
two professional rollerbladers in San Francisco that are both named
Sean Keen, and I thought I found one of them
on the internet and he said, oh no, I'm not
in that skate video. I directed it. So if you
see rollerblading Sean Keene content, that's not me either.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Last question for you. I know that your album America's
Uncle Dad from Shark Party Media. You recorded it right
here at the punchline. How cool is it that, you know,
especially as a Bay Area guy like myself. I mean,
that was my first club and it's one of the
great clubs in all of all of America. How cool

(08:11):
is that is? Just to say, you know, Wednesday, that's
all me.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
It's great, It's fantastic, and it's it's really is one
of the best comedy clubs in America. Everything sounds good.
It's got so much history. Yeah, it's so really lucky.
It's gonna be a great show.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Actually, one more question. The picture of you naked with
the American flag over you? Yes, how did that go
down in Mississippi?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
You know? I don't, I don't. I actually had some
very strong criticism of using that as the album cover.
The words I've heard were too sexy, overly sensual, and
eyeball bleach, So that's kind of a It was a

(08:58):
tough one to.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Well. I mean, the President said, can't you just inject bleach?
I mean, doesn't that work? Yeah? Yeah, all right. Sean
Keene punchline right down here on Battery Street, and he
is the headliner tomorrow night at seven thirty pm. Shawn,
thanks for coming on the show again.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Man.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
We'll catch up soon.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Great, Thanks for having me. Rick.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
There are low prices, and then there are Cole's lowest
prices of the season. I got myself a comfy teeth
for just four ninety nine and a style of Stress
for fifty percent off. Then I found my husband a
pair of shorts for under seventeen bucks, plus I earned
Coles cash. Yep, it doesn't get better than Cole's lowest
prices of the season. So go check them out before

(09:42):
it's too late. Selex Style some exclusions. Supply offers end
May eighteen. Cscorreicles dot com for details.

Speaker 6 (09:50):
Find what you love, Love what you find, a total line,
and more. There's so much waiting for us. Be it
and be thousands of lines walk right through the door.
It's all here to explore with guys in the know
and prices. So it just by glory your love. You're

(10:15):
gonna find what you love and.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Love what you find responsibly. Be twenty one. You're listening
to the Comedy All Stars Podcast with Rick Tittle, powered
by eight Side Network. All right, thank you for that,
and welcome back to the show. Rick to the with
you coast to coaston around the world on American Forces
Radio Network. It's great too. Welcome stin up comedian Greg
Warren back to the airwaves. I got to see him

(10:39):
at the DC Improv in December. Absolutely hilarious. He has
a brand new special entitled The Champ which is coming
out on Nate Bargatzi's YouTube channel, Nate Land, and that'll
be this Friday. Greg, welcome back to the show. Or
should I say.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Our flute where you'll flute?

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Rick, how you doing? Man?

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Not bad man? And you know what I actually I
talked to you briefly after this show in d c
h And took a picture with you and everything. And
you're one of my favorites because not just because I
think we're like the same age but just the delivery
is is that I love the deadpan style. Were you
always like that?

Speaker 3 (11:26):
I went through Uh, thank you for saying that, by
the way, But yeah, I went through several iterations, most
of which I hope are not captured on film. But yeah,
I don't know. I'm sure I had several influences I can.
I mean, I know I was influenced by Bob Newhart. Yeah,

(11:47):
I'm pretty sure I was influenced by Jake Johansson and
some other guys.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
But yeah, man, I I don't people ask me to
describe my characters.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
I don't even know how to do what I was like, Ah,
I just been doing it for a while, so I
sort of landed on this, this method of delivery.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
I guess it's funny you mentioned Jake because he was
just in studio with me here on Thursday, and he's
done nine shows with me, but we talked about how
he did forty six. Lettermans it's crazy. Yeah, it's insane.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
He he's just, I mean, just hilarious and he's really
really funny, creative guy.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
He's also one of the better people that I've met
in stand up comedy. When I was I think I
opened for Jake back in the day.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Man, and he just he always made those shows so
fun and treated you so well and you felt like
you were a part of something.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
He's a good dude.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
That's cool. And then when you think back in your
early days, you know, I hear the stories from like
Joe List and Mark Norman's and you know Marill, these
guys that you know they used to play pick up
basketball with with Nate in New York. And now Nate
has more money than Sinatra. That's pretty awesome.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Yeah, he's doing pretty well. Man. I just Nate was
kind enough to take me to Europe for two weeks
to open for him. It was it was pretty awesome.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Yeah, that's great. Where did you go, like where where
was the best town? And where was the town where
maybe that was crickets if there was one.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
I mean with a Nate show, you're not gonna get crickets,
that's true. Yeah, they yeah, I can you know, if
we look at my calendar, I can explain some of those.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
But yeah, Nate's not getting crickets.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
No.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
I mean they were all really well attended. They were
all fun people. I really Dublin where those we did
two shows in Dublin and it was it was really rocking.
And then the I liked Paris a lot. Man, there
was this probably the smallest crowds were in Paris, but
the venue.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Was was really cool.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Yeah, all the shows were fantastic.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
So I think when I saw you in December, that's
a lot that hour is this special?

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Right, Yeah, I would say, I'm trying to think. So December.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
I shot it maybe a month before I saw you,
so I was trying to start to introduce some new
stuff in there. So yeah, let me go ahead and
just guess the really funny parts were in this special,
the stuff that you were like, I don't think that's
that funny.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
That's the new stuff that I'm working on.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
So you said on that for six months. Huh yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Yeah, Nate, he's doing a bunch of specials. He just
had one come out with Stephen Rogers, Nick Thune, Aaron Weber,
So I sort of, you know, they just sort of
slotted me.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
In line Steve big d Rogers. Yes, yeah, we're talking
by the way, with Greg Warren. The new special The
Champ coming out Friday on Nateland YouTube. I would say
that one of the funniest parts, of course is and
you know, I'm not going to give it away, but
the high school fishing team.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Oh thanks dude, yeah, thank you.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
That is maybe my favorite part of this.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
My favorite line, the one that I came away with
that I hadn't be chuckling walking back to my hotel
freezing cold, was when and I will give this one away,
when you were talking about people giving directions and it
was like, you know, turn left of the maple tree,
and You're like, I don't I don't know trees. And
he said, I know two trees Christmas, And actually I

(15:35):
only know one tree.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Christmas. And that's it. And
and the the first one I has got to have
lights on it me for me to identify it. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Now that that is good. See that's just maybe a
throwaway line to you that that stuck with me. That's gold,
Jerry Gold.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Oh thanks man. That's a lot.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
And then I also think about, you know, sweet corn
crows in a field, then old corn grows in a field.
That's good stuff. So how many I'm trying to think
you had the salesman and how many specials? Now is
this well?

Speaker 3 (16:14):
I mean it sort of depends on how you count them.
I mean I had this one the Salesman, and then
field Corn. Yeah, and then before that I did a
dry bar special called fish Sandwich. And then before that
I did a like one of remember they had those
Comedy Central presents, like a half hour special on Comedy Central.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Yeah, that was back quite a long time ago.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
You know, when I think about jfl and just for
laughs for people who don't know, and trying to get
to Montreal and every year trying to be one of
those new faces, and then the two guys they might
be at the cellar or something and afterwards say, you
were really great, but now maybe next year. Yeah, And
now I hear the people say, well, it's not as

(16:59):
huge as it as it used to be. Like, but
but back then it was like getting on Johnny Carson.
I mean it was huge, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
I mean I think back when I got into Jeff
the new Faces thing, I think it was like two
thousand and maybe two thousand and two, I think. And
it's the first time that somebody in the industry says
this guy is he's worth taking a look at basically,
because you know, you're just out, especially me, I didn't

(17:27):
start in New York or LA. So you're just out
going from town to town, wondering if anybody is ever
gonna I mean, you know, it's you're having the time
of your life and the audience in front of you
is telling you you're doing well, but you don't have
any other validation whether or not you're any good, and
maybe you shouldn't need any other validation. But it was
fun to hear somebody say like, yeah, yeah, we're going

(17:48):
to bring you to this thing. And then you know,
back then that meant a bunch of other people like, well,
they think he's all right, it must must there must
be something he's got.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Industry types, right, yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, it's those.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
It was fairly anti climactic, I think.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
I mean, like I was like, I'm either going to
be out of the business or I'm going to be, uh,
you know, a superstar, and I came away as very
much neither, and uh it took a while for that
to set in, like, oh, I'm gonna have to, you know,
keep doing this for a while.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
So now it's funny because I know that Jake dropped
out of Iowa state with like two credits remaining. He
just couldn't wait to go to l anymore for you.
You wrestled, was it Iowa? Is that where you wrestled?

Speaker 4 (18:32):
I wrestled at Missouri?

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Missouri you're Misszoo Tiger.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, Okay.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Now, And and that was the your guy that that
where your flu flute and all that right.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
That was Hueie. That was a high school that was
that was that Kirkwood High School? Hueie.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Yeah, I'll just tell you a quick story. I know
you're the comedian, but when I played college football, there
was a guy I left because he had the same
type of voice. And we were getting on the bus
to play a game and he goes, man, Rick, you
lead a lonely life. Man, you need a lonely life.
I go, why, He goes, I saw you walking all
by yourself on the side of the freeway. And I'm like,

(19:11):
I go that that wasn't me. He goes, it was you.
You were lonely live you got a loan. I go,
why would I be walking on the freeway. And for
the rest of the year, there goes the man with
a lonely lonely life.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Yeah, I think you're mistaken. That was David Banner.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yeah, or the wasn't that like the beginning of The
Incredible Hulk. It was like David Banner just walking, do
you know what?

Speaker 1 (19:41):
He was, Doc Bruce Banner, But they changed it to
David No, no, but you're right. It was David Banner
on TV because because at that time they said Bruce
was a gay name.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
It's so funny.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Can you believe that?

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Yeah, just because like if you saw any like ridiculous
comedian doing an impression of a gay guy, his name
was Bruce always made a gesture with his.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Right hand it bath And so they thought when Bill
Bixby said, I don't want to be Gay Hulk, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (20:15):
I mean no, that was a whole nother series Gay Hulk.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
I enjoyed that one.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Do you know?

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Earlier this show, I interviewed Ron Kearney, who's going to
be a judge at the World's Strongest Man competition, and
his nickname is World's Strongest Gay, not world really, not
world's strongest gay man, just World's strongest gay. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Yeah, that's impressive.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
I just thought i'd throw that in.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Very impressive.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Yeah, yeah, Now is that the one where those guys
like pull the like the anchors and you know, tires
and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
This is it's it is because it's official. It's on
CBS Sports. It is weightlifting deadlifting. But they do have
this thing where you pick up a giant It's it's
kind of thing like Scottish rites, but you pick up
this giant stone ball and carry it.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
Okay, all right, I like that. Yeah, those guys.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
You know, I've always told people blake when you watch
those guys in those competitions, and this is sort of
true of when I was wrestling to a degree, Like
those guys they're not like cut you know, they're not
like all cut up and like you know, chiseled bodies.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
They're just like big guys. Who are those are the
guys you.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Need to be careful, you know, Like those guys, Like
I wrestled a couple of guys that were like really
cut and like had the perfect you know, physique, and
oftentimes they weren't that strong.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
You know.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Then you wrestle those guys that's just like that guy
looks like he's just sort of blocky.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Like, yeah, that guy, he grabs you when it hurts.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
You know.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
My brother wrestled in high school and he only got
points one time the match started, he went for the
guy's legs, the guy backed away. He went for the
guy's legs, the guy backed away and the guy the
ref whistled and he said something like avoiding contact. You
got a point or something.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
Yeah, yeah, that was it. Oh really that was That
was his career.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
That was that was his wrestling career. All right, Well,
everyone should check out Greg Warren's new special Friday. It's
called a Champ. It's free on YouTube on the nate
Land channel there. And as you can tell, I'm a
big fan of his humor. Greg. I was just looking
at your schedule. I don't see you coming to the
Bay Area anytime soon. But next time you're at Cobbs

(22:29):
or at the Punchline, whatever, come on by the studio.
We'd love to have you.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Oh man, I'd love to. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
I got to get back up there that it's so great.
My cousin lives up there, my friends live up there.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
I gotta get there.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
All right, good stuff, Greg Warren the Champ. Everybody. Hey,
thanks for coming on. Man, really appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Yeah, enjoyed talking. Thanks for having me.
