Crime Alart hourly update, breaking crime news Now, I'm Nicole Parton.
On Thursday, baby Emmanuel Harrow's parents were officially charged with
murder in California. Rebecca and Jake Carrow made a brief
appearance at the Riverside Hall of Justice, where they pleaded
not guilty to allegations of murdering their seven month old son,

(00:21):
despite authorities still having not located the baby's remains. The
hearing was uneventful except for one significant development. Rebecca, who
is represented by a public defender, welcomed a new addition
to her legal team, attorney Jeff Moore. Riverside County Superior
Court records indicate that Moore will be joining the defense

(00:42):
alongside the public defender, marking another high profile case in
child abuse law for that man. Moore is notably recognized
for previously representing Louise and David Turpin, a California couple
who inflicted severe abuse on their thirteen children for years,
keeping them imprisoned in deplorable conditions. The Turpans were arrested

(01:05):
in January twenty eighteen after one of their daughters managed
to escape and alerted authorities about the horrific treatment she
and her siblings were enduring at the time of their arrest.
The youngest child was only two, while the oldest was
twenty nine. Responding deputies found the Turpin home in squalor conditions,
filled with trash and human waste. The malnourished children were

(01:28):
so isolated that they struggled to communicate. The one boy
was discovered shackled to a bed for an unextended period
of time. The Turpans ultimately pleaded guilty to fourteen felonies,
including cruelty and false imprisonment. They are now serving life
sentences with the possibility of parole after twenty four years.

(01:49):
In the case of Rebecca and Jake, they maintained their innocence,
claiming they did not kill their son and are unaware
of his whereabouts. Rebecca initially reported that a man Kua
was abducted on August fourteen from a sporting good store
in Ukaipa, asserting that she had been attacked and woke
up to find her child missing. Her claims were initially

(02:10):
met with sympathy, especially as she displayed a significant black
eye after the assault. However, the investigation soon revealed discrepancies
in Rebecca's story, leading authorities to suspect foul play. The
couple reportedly began evading investigators, eventually ceasing all communication. The
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department later publicly stated that a

(02:32):
kidnapping had not taken place and that Immanuel was believed
to be dead. On that same day, the Horals were
arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody. Jake
briefly left jail on August twenty four to assist in
the search for baby Immanuel, but investigators now believed that
the infant was killed days before Rebecca's false claims, with

(02:55):
the last confirmed sighting having occurred on August five, as
detailed in the criminal complaint. Both Jake and Rebecca remain
in custody, held at a one million dollar bill. They
are also parents to a two year old child who
has been removed from their care. More crime and justice
news after this, a man from North Carolina is facing

(03:22):
charges for allegedly being married to three different women across
three counties at the same time. Harry Burdick Junior has
been charged with two counts of felony bigamy. As announced
by the Davidson County Sheriff's office. His arrest followed an
extensive investigation that began in April after authorities received a
tip off. According to online records, Burdick acquired a marriage

(03:46):
license and wed in Davidson County in January twenty three. However,
he reportedly did the same thing in two other counties,
one to the east and one to the west. Burdick
is said to have married in both Guilfy County and
Lincoln County, with no evidence of divorce proceedings for any
of the three marriages found by law enforcement authorities suggest

(04:09):
that Burdick, who is either sixty or sixty one, was
motivated by financial gain and personal benefit. It appears that
Burdick had a reoccurring pattern marrying one woman to enjoy
the financial benefits before moving on to the next. I
can't fathom why some would would want to do this,
commented Roger Wessler, a neighbor of Burdicks. It just doesn't

(04:32):
make sense to me. One woman, it's all that I need.
Law enforcement suspects there may be additional victims, as a
fourth woman has reportedly claimed to have had a romantic
relationship with the man at the same time Burdick was
arrested on August twenty two, but was released on a
written promise to appear in court. According to the Davidson

(04:53):
County Sheriff's office, his initial court appearance is scheduled for
September twenty two. Online records ind kate that verdict has
been divorced previously, with a divorce finalized in January twenty nineteen.
In North Carolina, bigamy is classified as a felony and
could result in prison sentences ranging from three to twelve months. Davidson, Guildford,

(05:17):
and Lincoln Counties are situated in the central region of
North Carolina. He is due back in court for now,
it's suspected he is probably not living with any of
his three wives. For the latest crime injustice news, follow
