to prosecutors in Massachusetts, they revealed that the moment before

arrested on Tuesday, just before a body believed to be

During his arraignment in Taunton District Court on Wednesday, he
pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and several other
charges against him. Prosecutor Jason Mohen recounted that the case

(00:46):
initiated on Friday, August eighth, when Groom reported Montero missing
in the Rayha Both Police department. He allegedly claimed that
she had recently left a residential program, took a ride
share to his residence on August six, and intended to
stay with him. Montero had informed Groom that she was
about eleven weeks pregnant and that he was the father.

An argument reportedly ensued regarding her living situation. Montero had
just graduated from the Attleborough High School earlier that summer.
Following the dispute, Mohan stated, Montero sent a concerning text
to her sister, which he read out loud in court.
He threw me to the ground and pulled my hair
and strangled me. My phone is at four percent and

on August eight and continued for nearly two weeks until
Groom's arrest on Tuesday afternoon. Initially, he faced charges of
aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault
and battery, and witness intimidation related to the incident. Prosecutors

(01:50):
noted that family members grew worried when Montero, known for
her active social media presence, had not been heard from
in days. On our tic talk account, she had shared
videos announcing her pregnancy and referred to Groom as someone
who treated her quote like gold. Montero's sister of Faith insisted,

was reinterviewed by police, where he acknowledged having an argument
with Montero, admitting to pushing her, resulting in her falling
and hitting her head. When asked about Montero's whereabouts, Groom
allegedly provided an elementary map of his property. Mohen stated

(02:34):
that Groom eventually confess to killing Montero after an argument
behind a shed on the property. He allegedly stabbed her
twice in the neck and once in the chest with
a kitchen knife so fiercely that he caused the blade
to break.

told police where he buried her body, about twenty yards

to the property on Tuesday and discovered a pile of
brush that appeared to conceal blood and other evidence. They

also found a rectangular patch of recently disturbed soil approximately
five feet underground. They located a body believed to be Montero.
