We have breaking news. Federal authorities have made their first
arrest in connection with the pipe bombs planet outside the
Democratic and Republic National Committee headquarters on the eve of
the Capitol riot January sixth, twenty twenty one. Sources say
the suspect was taken into custody Thursday and is expected

(00:23):
to face charges in federal court in Washington, d C.
The arrest marks a major breakthrough in a case that
has puzzled investigators for nearly five years. The bombs were
placed outside the DNC and RNC offices on the evening
of January fifth. Investigators say the devices were made from
eight inch pipes, kitchen timers, and homemade black powder. They

(00:46):
didn't explode, but the FBI has called them viable, warning
they could have killed or seriously injured multiple people. The
bombs weren't discovered until the afternoon of January sixth, as
police were overwhelmed by riding at the capital. Former Vice
President Kamala Harris, then Vice President elect, was evacuated from
the DNC headquarters shortly after the devices were found. Since then,

(01:09):
federal law enforcement has charged more than fifteen hundred people
in connection with the Capital riot, but the pipe bomb
case remained a mystery until now. The FBI had previously
released grainy security footage of a hooded suspect and offered
a five hundred thousand dollars reward for information. In May,
Deputy FBI Director Dan Vongino said the case was receiving

(01:33):
additional resources and investigative attention, with weekly briefings on progress.
Today's arrest signals that progress has finally paid off. Count
