Drew Nelson, a Louisiana mother a sentence to twenty six
years in prison after a judge hands down the maximum
punishment for a string of sex crimes involving teenagers. Leanne
Yamorino is forty four. She learned her fate in an
Ascension Parish court room. Judge Kiirwan Gant Turner gave her
(00:21):
ten years times two counts for carnal knowledge of a
juvenile and three years times two counts of indecent behavior
with a juvenile. The sentences will run consecutively. She must
also register as a sex offender. Her daughter spoke in
court and asked for the harshest penalty. The case began
in July of last year, when a fourteen year old
student came forward. He told investigators he had sex with
(00:42):
Yamorino twice that year. Five more teenagers, ages fourteen to sixteen,
later reported that she sent them lewde texts, photos, and videos.
Detectives also spoke with parents who said their sons received
explicit messages. She had been involved with the cheer team
at Dutchtown High School and was well known by families
in the community. District attorney Ricky Babbin spoke to WBRZ
(01:06):
asked if Yamorino poses a danger to the community per
victims of minors, and it's multiple counts, it wasn't an
isolated incident, so yes, in my opinion, she is. Ya.

get credit for time served. Prosecutors alleged that she engaged
(01:27):
in sexual contact with the boy between January first and
July thirtieth of that year. They also alleged that she
sexted multiple teens during that same period. She will remain
a registered sex offender for fifteen years after her release.
More crime and justice news after this. A South Carolina

a man who shot at a police officer then killed

The Solicitor's office said Bufort fired four shots at North
Charleston police officer Jamie Sylvester inside a home on Ranger Drive,
then turned the gun on the woman who had called
for help. Solicitor Scarlett Wilson said, quote, brave officers like
Jamie Sylvester also suffer at the hands of these batterers. Thankfully,
Officer Sylvester survived, but this madness must stop. The shooting
(02:35):
happened in the early morning hours of December sixteenth of
twenty twenty one. Prosecutors said Baufort and the victim had
recorded a video of themselves having consensual sects. The woman
called nine to one one about twenty minutes later and

ended when he asked her to contact his mother. First
responders arrived minutes later. Bodycam video captures the moment officers
(02:58):
entered through a side door as the woman screamed in fear.
Beaufort then opened fire. He admitted to EMTs that he
had been drinking ever Clear that as one hundred and
ninety proof nearly pure alcohol, as well as smoking marijuana
laced with cocaine. Court records showed Bufort tried to plead
not guilty by reason of insanity before the trial. Doctors
at the Medical University of South Carolina ruled that he

testified that he acted in self defense. The jury rejected
