Speaker 2 (00:04):
I'm Nicole Parton. In a case that has drawn international attention,
four months a woman was found stabbed inside an upscale
home in a neighborhood outside Washington, d C. Her husband,
who prosecutor's alleged was having an affair with their Brazilian
O pair, was a federal law enforcement officer. A second victim,

(00:24):
who authorities say had been lured to the couple's home
through a sexual fetish website, had been shot, lying dead
next to the dying wife. Drew Nelson explains the latest
charges in this twisted case.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
It took nearly a year for Virginia police to make
a second arrest in connection to the murders of Christine
Banfield and Joseph Ryan. Juliana Perez Maggiles, the O pair
caring for the Banfield's daughter, is facing second degree murder charges,
but only in Joseph Ryan's murder. The person indicted in
Christine Banfield's death is her husband, Brendan Banfield. He's facing
four counts of aggravated murder and one count of felony

(00:59):
fire arm use. That day, Banfield told nine one one
he shot a man who stabbed his wife.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Prosecutors in Fairfax County, Virginia have now accused mister Banfield
of plotting to kill the two in his home about
twenty miles outside the capitol. The case was riddled with evidence,
Dave Mack explains.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Investigators say the killings are part of a larger scheme.
Juliana Perez Maglaise and Brendan Banfield began a romantic relationship
in the months leading up to the murders, and it
is alleged they continued the affair afterwards. The day of
the murders, Maglaise called nine one one to report an emergency.
The first time she called, she hung up. More than
ten minutes later, she called again, and Brendan Bamfield spoke

(01:38):
to the nine one one dispatch. He says he shot
a man who stabbed his wife. Perez, Maglaise and Banfield
reportedly entered the home to find Joseph Ryan holding a
knife to Christine Banfield's throat. According to Perez Magalaise, she
alleged Ryan stabbed Christine Banfield and that Brendan Bamfield then
shot Ryan. Magalayse also told authorities that she shot Ryan
once with the second.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Firearms, investigators begin to dive deeper into the relationship of
the husband and his o pair, a potential motive was revealed.
Crime on Lines holding Zapple explains what investigators found out.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Investigators working with the prosecutor have come up with a
theory that the killings were part of an elaborate plan
that would allow Brendan Banfield and Juliana Perez Magales to
live their lives together without Christine Banfield. Investigators found Juliana
Perez Magalese clothes were in Christine Banfield's closet, not her own.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
