Speaker 2 (00:03):
Now, I'm Nicole Parton. This week, a man serving a
life sentence for the kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of
Holly Bobo is set to return to court in an
effort to overturn his conviction and secure a new trial.
Holly Bobo was taken from her home in West Tennessee
in twenty eleven, but her body was not discovered until
three years later. Zach Adams, along with his brother Dylan

(00:26):
Adams and Jason Autrey, faced charges related to her murder. However,
only Zach went to trial. He was sentenced to life
in prison without the possibility of parole, in addition to
fifty years.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
All right, I'm going to start with count one, verdict
four first degrade fallny murder of Holly Lind Bobo.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Here, in the perpetration of, or attempt to perpetrayed kidnapping
of Hollyland Bobo, you checked guilty of first grade family
murder for Hollyland Bobo during the perpetration of, or attempt
to perpetrate kidnapping.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Of Holly then Bobo. Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
And you signed? And David. Now, so I'm going to
start on the back corner. Number one, is that your
verdict yes? Number two Yes, and we're skipping over.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Both Dylan and Autrey accepted plea deals. Zach's appeal is
primarily focused on the testimony given by Autrey during his trial,
which he has since declared was all fabricated. In their
petition for relief, Zach's attorneys stated, quote, he confessed to
fabricating the entire story while in his jail cell, reviewing
evidence and discussing with his attorney the best strategy to

(01:39):
avoid a life sentence. He admitted to simply reconstructing his
day and quote adding holly to it, acknowledging that it
was all a ploy to gain his freedom under his
attorney's direct advice. End quote. Autrey was released from prison
in twenty twenty after serving eight years as part of
a plea agreement, but was arrested two months later for

(01:59):
violating federal weapons law. He is currently serving a nineteen
year sentence for that offense. Although Autrey was subpoena to
provide testimony at the post conviction relief hearing, it is
unlikely he will appear. His court appointed attorney has filed
a notice indicating that Autrey intends to invoke his Fifth
Amendment right against self incrimination. In addition to challenging Autrey's testimony,

(02:22):
Zach's legal team is also presenting new evidence, including a
surveillance footage from an ATM drive through that reportedly shows Zach, Dylan,
and another individual withdrawing one hundred and twenty dollars around
the time Bobo was allegedly kidnapped or Crime and Justice News.
After this, a quick witted young gamer in Tennessee helped

(02:49):
prevent a potential school shooting plot from unfolding. Two thousand
miles away in northern California, two teenagers ages fourteen and
fifteen allegedly devised a plan to carry out shooting at
the Evergreen Institute of Excellence in Cottonwood, California, with the
intentions to kill as many as one hundred people. This
according to the Tahima County Sheriff Dave Kine during a

(03:11):
press conference on Tuesday. The unnamed miners reportedly intended to
first target one of their parents before executing their attack.
They had even created a manifesto post for pictures in
outfits reminiscent of the nineteen ninety nine Columbine shooters and
shared their disturbing intentions in an online gaming chat.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Quote.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
This was a serious situation, Kane stated during the briefing.
It could have drastically changed our community. But a boy
from Tennessee noticed the alarming messages from the would be
assailants and decided to take action. On the evening of
May nine, he contacted the Tahima County Sheriff's office, providing
them with the suspects gamer tags and the details of

(03:54):
the conversation. Kane highlighted that the boy's quick thinking might
have been crucial to save lives. Quote, this young man
showed remarkable courage and instincts by alerting us to potentially
prevent harm in our community and against our youth and school.
The sheriff remarked, our team took this report very serious
from the get go. Sheriff Kevin explained that investigators shared

(04:17):
the photos of the two teens, which mirrored the Columbine shooters,
along with their chat logs, with school officials, who were
able to swiftly identify the boys. Upon executing search warrants
at the teen's home, law enforcement discovered improvised explosive devices
believed to be intended for the attack. As well as firearms.
According to the sheriff, the duo had planned to carry

(04:38):
out their assault on May nine, but one of them
ultimately decided to withdraw from the scheme. While the motivations
behind their actions remain unclear, Kay noted that one of
the boys mentioned experiencing bulling when he was questioned by police.
Both teens are facing charges related to making criminal threats,
possessing and manufacturing destructive devices, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

(05:02):
Investigators are also collaborating with prosecutors to explore the possibility
of an additional charge for conspiracy to commit mass murder.
The teens made their court appearance on Tuesday, where they
were denied bail according to the Tahima County District Attorney's office.
Cain said that the threat was contained to the two
miners in custody, but sheriff's officials have discussed implementing additional

(05:24):
security measures at the school in a show of confidence.
The Sheriff's son returned to classes the same day at
the middle school. While details about the alert Tennessee boy
remain limited, Cain mentioned that his parents and the boy
have been invited to Tahima County for a recognition ceremony.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
How could a beautiful, young first grade teacher be stabbed
twenty times, including in the back, allegedly die of suicide. Yes,
that was the medical examiner's official ruling after a closed
door meeting. He first named it a homicide. Why what
Happened to Ellen Greenberg a huge American miscarriage of justice.
