Speaker 1 (00:00):
Crime al Art hourly update, breaking crime news. Now, I'm
Jennifer Gould. A South Carolina father's raw, unyielding rage against
a convicted child molester has exploded into a real life
vigilante saga, culminating in a shocking jailhouse confession. Nicholas Stanley,
thirty eight, is now charged with murder after allegedly tracking

(00:22):
down and executing forty two year old James Thompson, a
man who he says destroyed his family by molesting a relative.
Here's part of Stanley's interview with ABC fifty seven, and
now I'm going to get more time putting this piece
of trash out than he ever got for hurting my
family and the ones that I love. Stanley also said, quote,

(00:43):
I'm tired of pretending like I did something wrong. I
don't feel like I did anything wrong, and there are
thousands of people out there who agree with me. End quote.
The events began to unfold after James Thompson, a registered
sex offender convicted in twenty nineteen for molesting Stanley's then
six year old relative, was released on parole in June

(01:04):
after serving only five years. Authorities alleged that just days later,
a furious, Nicholas Stanley confronted Thompson at his home in Greenville.
Armed with a legally owned nine millimeter handgun. Stanley allegedly
opened fire, shooting Thompson multiple times. Thompson was pronounced dead
at the scene, and Stanley was arrested hours later following

(01:25):
a brief manhunt. Stanley's attorney, Michael Reid, is not denying
the confession, but instead argues his client acted under extreme
emotional distress, citing the profound trauma inflicted upon his family.
He contends Stanley is not a cold blooded killer, but
a father driven to desperation. The Greenville County Sheriff's office

(01:48):
confirmed Thompson's prior conviction, adding a layer of complexity by
noting he was compliant with parole conditions at the time
of his death. Nicholas Stanley now faces the daunting prospect
a life in prison if convicted. Stanley told ABC fifty
seven he is going to miss watching his children grow up,
but quote, I don't regret protecting my family end quote.

(02:11):
His bail was denied at a July second hearing. A
preliminary trial is set for August first. For Crime and
Justice News after this in a move of breathtaking audacity.
A former Chicago area teacher facing a staggering fifty five
counts of sex abuse charges, including claims she groomed and

(02:34):
sexually assaulted a teen over fifty times, praisenly sought permission
to live closer to her alleged victim. Christina Fermela, thirty,
a former special ed teacher and soccer coach from Downer's
Grove South High School, appeared before a judge attempting to
slash a court ordered five thousand foot buffer zone. The judge,

(02:59):
visibly appalled by her request, swiftly denied it, leaving Formella
confined to her parents five hundred and sixty thousand dollars
golf course of state as her own marital home falls
within the forbidden zone, adding insult to injury for Mela
had previously had the goal to claim she was quote

fifty five felony charges, including twenty counts of criminal sexual assault,
twenty counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, six counts of
indecent solicitation of a child and six counts of grooming,
all following her March twenty twenty five arrest. That arrest

you don't want to tis you or something? I'm a
prosecutors ledge the abuse began in January of twenty twenty three,
when the boy was fifteen, after she started grooming him

(04:06):
at fourteen. The illicit relationship reportedly involved at least forty
five encounters at the school itself, with others occurring at
her home. The affair only came to light after the
victim's mom found explicit text messages, including one from Formella
to the teen that stated quote I love having sex
with you end quote. Despite the gravity of the accusations

is heir to an Italian foods empire, has remained steadfastly
by her side in court. The couple, who were called
sweethearts and were just married in September of twenty twenty four,
appeared remarkably confident, even as prosecutors claimed Formela had plans

(04:50):
to leave him for the teenage boy Formella, who has
resigned from her teaching position and surrendered her teaching license,
faces a potential sentence of up to shi sixty years
in prison if convicted. She has been on GPS monitoring
since her charges were upgraded in June. Her next court
appearance is set for August fourth, and finally, talk about

taking one for the team a little too literally. Two
youth baseball coaches just got pitched out of their league
after a jaw dropping stunt at an upstate New York
tournament for kids under twelve. Video hitting the internet shows
the unidentified Lake Bluff, Illinois coaches in the buff sprinting
under the stadium lights, leaving parents and players stunned. One

slide into home plate. Wow, that's got to hurt. While
the motive for the mooning remains unclear, their team, the
Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association's twelve U Blue instantly disqualified
and now both coaches have been promptly fired, proving there's
no bearing all in baseball. For the latest crime of
