Drew Nelson, a convicted murderer in Massachusetts, is now charged
with killing two more people, and prosecutors say the pattern
meets the definition of a serial killer. In Middlesex County,
detectives brought two new first degree murder charges against thirty
eight year old Kevin Lino, a former homeless man already

(00:21):
serving long sentences for two other killings. Some say he
is being unmasked to show a face covered in tattoos,
by the way, but the real reveal is the scope
of his violence. Prosecutors now believe he killed at least
four homeless men across two states over four years. The
newest charges involved the deaths of fifty four year old

(00:42):
Gary Mullanson in Lowell in twenty ten and thirty year
old Douglas Leon Clark in Cambridge in twenty twelve. Investigator
say Mlanson lived under the Roger Street bridge. He tried
to stay warm by lighting small fires near his collapsed tent.
Lino grew angry because he believed the flames would draw police.
Prosecutors say he beat Melentson to death with a metal

(01:04):
baseball bat. Clark's body was found two years later on
the banks of the Charles River. His death first looked
like an overdose. Toxicology showed heroin, codeine, ethanol, and GABA penton.
Later evidence pointed to an intentional so called hot shot,
that is a dose of drugs meant to kill. Prosecutors
Sayleno gave Clark a fatal dose of heroin after a

confrontation in Harvard Square. Here is District Attorney Maryon Ryan
on WFXT.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
The Department of Justice defines a serial killer as someone
who has taken the life of two individuals in separate situations.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Bryan says the new charges add to a pattern already
proven in court.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
In this case, we have already convictions in two we've
now brought charges in twours.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Lino was already serving a life sentence for killing Norman
Veriure in Charlestown in twenty twelve and a separate forty
year sentence for killing Jack Gilbert Barry in Missoula, Montana,
in twenty fourteen. That case involved torture and one final
gunshot before Barry's body was left in the Fork River.
Authorities now see a continuous pattern of violence against unhoused

(02:13):
men Criminologists say homeless victims often vanish without immediate notice,
so predators pick them because they are vulnerable and defenseless.
Prosecutors say more victims are possible. Asked if investigators are
searching for additional cases, we.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Continue to investigate that we really never give up on
those cases. We don't forget about them, and we stay
open to other information.

outrage after pepper spraying on a Texas river barge after
a loud dispute over loud noise from her phone. Police
are searching for the as yet unidentified woman who pepper
sprayed eight people, including a toddler, during a Saturday night
ride on a Go Rio barge along the San Antonio Riverwalk.
Officers said the assault happened around eight point thirty. The

(03:18):
suspect ran off before police arrived. Detectives are treating the
case as an assault. The San Antonio Police Department says
the trouble started when the boat operator asked the woman
to lower the volume on her phone. The operator then
stopped the barge and told her to get off. Once
she stepped onto the walkway, the woman began shouting at
passengers and walked toward a nearby bridge. Witnesses told officers

(03:40):
she then sprayed the crowd as the boat floated under
the bridge. Footage shows people wiping their eyes. A baby
can be heard crying. TikTok. Clips posted after the attack
show the suspect yelling threats while pepper spray hangs from
her purse. When passenger filmed her screaming things like quote
stop recording me, or I'll slap you in your shed.

(04:01):
Witnesses said a person tied to her tried to pull
her away, but she kept on yelling. People on the
barge described the painful aftermath, with writers bent over, a
woman carrying that crying toddler, others seen rinsing their eyes.
The department said the severity of the injuries is still
being reviewed. Millions of people have now watched the videos online.
