Speaker 1 (00:00):
Crime Alart hourly update, breaking crime news Now. I'm Nicole Parton,
one of the two remaining escapees from a high profile
New Orleans prison escape last month, is being investigated by
authorities for seemingly posting a pair of ten minute videos
on social media claiming he was quote let out of
jail alongside nine other men and that he did not
(00:21):
commit the crimes he had been serving time for in prison.
He said, they say that I broke out. I didn't
break out. I was let out.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
I'm showing y'all the whole world how corrupted the state
of Louisiana is. I'm an innocent man.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
In my past, I mean mistakes, and I'm saying mistakes.
I was just yunk, and I'm saying but the system
has failed a lot of people, and not just me.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
The man in the video, who identifies himself as Massy
and has identical face tattoos, said he was let out
and that he is not guilty of the crimes he's
paying prison terms for the reason why I left the
jail is because these people are trying to give me
a life sentence in both parishes for something I didn't do.
He said, if the individual depicted in the video is
(01:07):
indeed en Twine Massey. We strongly urge him to come
forward and turn himself into the proper authorities, said Orleans
Parish Sheriff Susan Hudson in a statement. Cooperating with law
enforcement is in the best interest and may help avoid
additional charges. She said it is important that justices served
appropriately and that due process is allowed. Hudson, who suspended
(01:29):
her re election campaign last month to focus on restoring
public trust in her leadership role, says local, state, and
federal authorities are working to locate Massey and Derek Groves,
the two remaining men who escaped the Orleans Parish prison
in the early hours of May sixteen. Massey, thirty two,
faces kidnapping and rape charges, according to the Associated Press,
(01:51):
while Groves twenty seven, has been convicted of murder. At
least fifteen people have been charged with helping the ten men,
either during or after their SEPs cape from prison, according
to the AP, including Sterling Williams, a jail maintenance worker
who officials accused last month of shutting off the water
to a gail cell, where the men removed a toilet
(02:11):
and climbed through a hole. Left in the wall. We
previously reported that the escapees all escaped through that hole
in the wall before climbing a chain leak fence and
crossing a neighboring highway before scattering across the city. According
to photos released by local officials, the escapees appeared to
also leave messages for prison officials scribbled on the wall
(02:32):
above the hole, one saying too easy. Lol. Williams, who
has denied being involved in helping the men escape, says
he shut off the water to the cell because his
life was threatened. In the video shared to Instagram, the
man claiming to be Massy denied threatening Williams while also
accusing prison officials of being crooked and racist. The man
(02:52):
also asked President Donald Trump, Kim Kardashian, and a number
of musical artists to step up and help him. According
to local WVUE. In an interview with the news outlet,
Massey's pastor Robert Brown implored Massey to turn himself in
if he cares about his family. He said, quote, if
you care about them, turn yourself in, the pastor pleaded.
(03:14):
As of Tuesday afternoon, authority scrambled manhunt for Massi and
Groves has stretched into its eighteenth day or Prime in
Justice News after this and now to Florida, where a
man has been charged after he thought his wife was
cheating on him and he tried to strangle her while
(03:35):
she was sleeping. The woman woke up to find his
hands around her throat after he discovered text messages on
her phone from another man. William Milan, forty, of Boca Ratan,
is charged with felony battery by strangulation for the May
twenty seven attack. It was alleged the second time in
two days that he attacked the victim in this way.
(03:57):
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Palm
Beach County Police Department last week, William advised that he
found out that his wife was cheating and wanted to
quote teach her a lesson. In the Affidavid states William
also locked her out of the house and refused to
give her the keys to her car so she could
go to work. Police received a call to attend the
(04:18):
couple's residence after Milan allegedly attacked his wife around four am.
According to authorities, she told police the same thing happened
on May twenty five, but she was too scared to
make a report. The victim stated that Williams has done
this in the past, she has never reported it because
she feared for her life. The police affidavit staid officers
(04:38):
observed red marks around the victim's neck and on the
side of her face, where she also allegedly was hit
by Milan. Pictures were taken of the injuries for evidence.
Milan was hesitant to come outside to speak to officers
when they arrived, but did allegedly confirm that he had
accused his wife of cheating and argued with her. After
speaking to police, I asked him if he ever go physical,
(05:00):
and he stated that he only played loud music this
morning to quote let off some steam, an officer said
in the notes, he denied choking his wife. Police determined
that Milan was the primary aggressor and placed him into
custody for battery by strangulation. He has been booked into
the Palm County Jail. For the latest crime injustice news,
