I'm Nicole Partner. Judge in Georgia is deliberating on whether
prosecutors can present evidence regarding the defendant's reported fascination with
Satanism and serial killers during her forthcoming murder trial. Caitlin
Grace Goebel, twenty nine, faces charges of malice murder, felony murder,
aggravated assault, and tampering with evidence and concealing the death

(00:27):
of Morgan Bauer stemming from a twenty sixteen murder. The
prosecution aims to introduce Goebel's social media activity related to
the occult and Satanism and her interest in serial killers
to establish a motive.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Tita video, she says, I'm a kimmible because I eed people,
and on K three there's a video she'd posts and
I have some of these I can show the court.
At the end of this, where she is holding a
severed head and singing along to a song, says, backyard
full of dead bodies, of dead bodies, and those are

(01:02):
saying she's kind of tossing the seventh head around when
she's a just full medap. This is posted in twenty
twenty one and I think it's actually relevant because you know,
not only is that they sever her head in this
murder case, but also it's frolln in that sort of
second Tyro gets to a minute of she's not commoncized

(01:23):
by mister Warren. He's not controlling her actions in this instance.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
During emotion hearing held on Wednesday, prosecutors asserted that this
evidence is vital for their case against Goebel, who is
accused of strangling Bower alongside her boyfriend, followed by dismembering
her body cannibalism and burning her remains. In response, defense
attorneys argued that this evidence would unduly influence a jury

(01:49):
and is not relevant to the charges. Defense counsel contended
that permitting such evidence would bias the jury against Goebel unfairly.
He emphasized that the nextative impact of this evidence far
exceeds any potential relevance, especially considering the provocative nature of
the social media content that prosecutors wish to present. The

(02:12):
case stakes back to February twenty six, twenty sixteen, when
Bauer was allegedly murdered at a home shared with Goebel
and her boyfriend, Jonathan Warren. Prosecutors outlined harrowing allegations, claiming
the victim was strangled before being dismembered. Following the dismemberment,
it is alleged that Warren engaged in sexual acts with

(02:34):
Bower's torso she had been decapitated, and he supposedly did
that for several days, and that the couple consumed parts
of the victim's sexual organs. After three days, they are
accused of placing Bower's remains in a suitcase and burning
it in the backyard. Prosecutors presented a troubling array of

(02:55):
social media evidence they wished to include a trial featuring
TikTok video in which Goble reportedly discusses her interest in
serial killers and the occult and Satanism, as well as
a video showing her with what appears to be a
severed head. Warren allegedly informed investigators that Gobel was interested

(03:15):
in forensic pathology and expressed a desire to kill someone
in order to dismember the body. The prosecution intends to
introduce Gobel's social media post, her writings and notes, and
testimonies from co defendant Warren about her alleged occult activities
and morbid interest. Warren is anticipated to provide testimony regarding

(03:37):
the conversations and behaviors. He observed that prosecutors claim illustrate
Goebel's preoccupation with violence, death, and the occult. Warren had
previously pleaded guilty to all charges during his arraignment and
reportedly requested the death penalty. Goebel was not arrested until
August twenty three, more than seven years after the alleged crime.

(04:00):
She was initially charged with tempering with evidence, and a
grand jury later issued a five count indictment against her
in October twenty three. The judge has taken the motion
under advisement and has yet to make a decision regarding
the admissibility of this forthcoming evidence. Stay close to Crime

and justice news after this. Shane Hennan, a sports betting
guru and convicted felon, is now thought to be the
one who sparked the investigation into the huge NBA gambling shakeup. Hennan,
who has been named in the indictment and is one

(04:42):
of the thirty four people who was arrested, was caught
trying to flee the United States with ten thousand dollars
cash and a one way ticket to Columbia. The forty
year old was busted at the Harry Reid International Airport
in Las Vegas, with federal agents taking him into custody
on a separate case, the one involving former NBA player
John Tay Porter, who has been banned from the league

(05:05):
for life. Hennan was accused of masterminding the scheme in
which Porter would take himself out of games with fake
injuries to influence betting results. The former Toronto Raptors Center
has since pleaded guilty in his awaiting sentencing. According to
court documents cited by The New York Post, Hennan entered

(05:25):
into plee negotiations with prosecutors. The notes in parts said
the CD affair turned out to be a mere curtain
raiser to a wider gambling case pursued by the Feds,
who arrested thirty one people, including four from mafia families
and Trailblazers head coach Chauncey Billups, Miami heat guard Terry Roser,

(05:47):
and former NBA player Damon Jones. Hennan is accused of
supplying the technology used to cheat poker players, while he's
said to have instructed others to bet on rosiers after
the guard agreed to pull himself out of games with
a fake injury. While playing for the Charlotte Hornets in

Birdie County Sheriff's Office are asking for assistance and locating
a missing man. According to police, Brendan Lee Armstrong was
last seen at the Hoggard Mill Road fishing Pier. Deputies
are also urging boaters in the Cashy River area to

(06:29):
spay special attention, saying that Armstrong may have entered the
water in a green kayak between Sunday, October twenty six
and Monday, October twenty seven from the pier. Armstrong is
described as five to four blue eyes, brown hair. Anyone
