Speaker 1 (00:04):
Authorities have identified the two National Guard members shot near
the White House on Wednesday. According to reports from the
Associated Press, the victims are specialist Sarah Beckstrom just twenty
years old, and staff Sergeant Andrew Wolf, twenty four. Both
were deployed from West Virginia and had been sworn in
(00:25):
only twenty four hours before the attack. US Attorney for
the District of Columbia, Janine Piro, called the shooting a
brazen and targeted attack during a Thursday press conference.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
With respect to their medical condition, as I said, they
were receiving the finest medical care. Their families are with them.
Now they are critical. I think you understand the meaning
of that. It's not clear you know how this is
going to end up. But let me be perfectly clear
about how it will end up in this office. If
(00:58):
one of them is to pass, and God forbid that happens,
this is a murder, one period, end of the story.
We are praying on a daylight today when families come
together in America and they hold hands around the Thanksgiving table,
I beg you, I beseech you to to pray for
these two young people that they survive.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
The suspect has been named as Romanola Lachanwall, a twenty
nine year old Afghan National authorities say Lincoln Wall allegedly
worked with the CIA during the war in Afghanistan. He
now faces charges of assault with intent to kill while
armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Piro emphasized that prosecutors are monitoring the situation closely. She said,
(01:44):
we are praying they survive and at the highest charge
will not have to be murder in the first degree,
but make no mistake, if they do not survive, that
will certainly be the charge. Sadly, just hours later, President
Donald Trump confirmed that special US Sarah Beckstrom has died.
In his first live remark since the shooting, Trump described
(02:06):
Beckstrom as quote highly respected, young magnificent. She's no longer
with US staff. Sergeant Wolf remains in critical condition. Authorities
continue to investigate the motive behind the attack. Stay with
us for updates as this story develops. More crime and
justice news after this and now for news out of

North Carolina. Four people were injured in a shooting incident
that occurred during a Christmas tree lighting event in downtown Concord.
According to police reports, the shooting took place just before
seven thirty pm amidst the annual celebration. Authorities indicated that
among the injured, three people are in critical condition. Investigators
(02:54):
stated that the shooting was not a random act of
violence against bystanders, but rather a confrontation between the two
people who supposedly knew each other and chose to fire
shots into the crowd with assistance from the community. Police
identified eighteen year old Nasia Bostik from Concord as one
of the suspects involved in the shooting. Arrest warrants have
(03:16):
been issued for him on charges including assault with a
deadly weapon resulting in serious injury with intent to kill,
and exciting a riot. Police plan to execute those warrants
once he is discharged from the hospital. Concord Police Chief
Jimmy Hughes expressed his dismay over the accident, saying a
night meant for community celebration was marred by senseless violence,
(03:41):
impacting everyone present. However, the strength and resilience deployed by
our community has been remarkable, thanks to prompt actions taken
by local businessmen, the public and first responders and law enforcement,
we were able to swiftly evacuate the area, mitigate further injuries,
identify the suspects. Authorities have also filed petitions with the
(04:04):
North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice for a second shooter.
He's a juvenile charged with similar charges, including assault with
a deadly weapon and inciting a riot. Both Nassar Bostick
and the unnamed juvenile were among those put in the hospital.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
One is listed in critical condition.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Additionally, police have identified and charged a third suspect, kiavon Bostick.
He's seventeen, also from Concord, who is facing charges as
an adult as being an accessory after the fact and
inciting a riot. He was unharmed and arrested following the shooting.
Two other seventeen year old victims sustained gunshot wounds and
(04:46):
are currently in the hospital. Concord Police or urging anyone
with videos or photos to please come forward. Witnesses say
they were shocked to be at the annual Christmas tree
lighting when gunfire erupted. I definitely don't think there's going
to be a lot of people out here, and I
don't think next year will be a lot of people either.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Because this is happening. I never would have expected it
happen in Concord either, because it's pretty safe.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
The Concord Christmas Parade has long been a cherished tradition.
The Mayor of Concord urged citizens to remain hopeful that
the holiday spirit will remain, saying, I do understand that
now families may feel the need to stay indoors to
protect themselves, and I respect that decision. But we are
dedicated to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all
(05:34):
attendees for all of our holiday functions in the upcoming future.
And a SAT update to a missing person's report we
brought to you earlier in Georgia, the Baldwin County Sheriff's
Office has announced that after several days of searching and
the assistance of more than two hundred people, organizations, staff members,
police officers, and community leaders, a missing nonverbal teenager has
(05:59):
been found dead. Fifteen year old Jeffrey Epps of Baldwin
County disappeared on November twenty four after hours of searching.
On the first day, the Sheriff's office put out a
request for help in the search by the community. People
came forward to help look for the young man. The
Sheriff's office continued the search for Epps until his body
was discovered on Wednesday evening. Police say the cause.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
And manner of death is still under investigation and thanked
the community for their assistance in.
