I'm Nicole Parton. Philadelphia Police and a devastated family are
asking for your help and locating twenty three year old
Kada Scott, a young woman who vanished after leaving her
overnight job at an assisted living facility. Scott was last
seen on Saturday night leaving the terrace at Chestnut Hill
on East Abington Avenue. She had just started working there
(00:26):
pursuing her dreams. A Penn State grad described as a
creative and artistic spirit, Kada was wearing black scrubs when
she arrived at her ten pm to six am shift,
but shortly after arriving, she disappeared without a trace. Her
cell phone has gone dead, her social media accounts are silent,
(00:47):
and her car still parked outside the facility and troubling,
there is no surveillance cameras on site. Captain John Craig,
a detective with the Northwest Police Department, says the circumstances
are deeply concerning. He said, you have a twenty three
year old young lady who has completely disappeared, no cell
phone activity, no social media, no contact with family or friends.
(01:11):
Her mother, Kim Matthews, is gripped by fear. I love
for I just need her to come home and be safe.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
That's what I feel that she's not saving.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Adding to the urgency, police say Kada had reported being
harassed by an unknown individual via phone in the days
leading up to her disappearance. She didn't name anyone, but
detectives are actively investigating. Captain Craig said, there are one
hundred pieces to the puzzle. If there's one hundred pieces
to a puzzle, you may think your piece is insignificant.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Without your piece, that jigsaw puzzle not being soft.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
So I would plead with you.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Without our information, you have reach out to the police.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Kada is described as five six, thin build, weighing one
hundred and twenty pounds. Her family says this is completely
out of character. Police have deployed helicopters, canine units and
our canvassing the area, interviewing those close to her and
combing through her digital footprint. Her father, Kevin Scott, says
the family remains hopeful.

Federal authorities have unmasked the alleged arsonist behind the devastating
Palisades fire, charging, a twenty nine year old former Uber
driver whose digital footprint included a disturbing conversation with chat GPT,
dark Ai generated images and a fixation on wrench wrap
(03:01):
about fire. Jonathan Rinderneck of Melbourne, Florida, was arrested nine
months after the catastrophe scorched over twenty three thousand acres,
claimed twelve lives, and destroyed six thousand, eight hundred and
thirty seven structures. Here's Bill Assali, acting US Attorney for
(03:23):
the Central District of California, at the news conference.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
The homes and businesses cannot be rebuilt. This arrest, we
hope will provide a measure of justice to all those
who were impacted.
Speaker 6 (03:36):
In court Thursday, a shackled red jumpsuit wearing Rinderneck listened
as federal officials argued he was a flight risk due
to having family in France. Prosecutors also cited his quote
traits of an arsonist, as well as his family's deep
concerns over his declining mental health. Federal investigator state renderneck
(04:00):
allegedly used an open flame, likely a lighter, to spark
the Lockman fire on January first. Though quickly contained by firefighters,
document state the blaze continued to smolder underground, creating the
deadly holdover condition. A week later, on January seventh, powerful
(04:21):
high speed Santa Ana winds caused the deep seated embers
to erupt, turning the smoldering brush into the raging Palisades fire.
The criminal complaint paints a portrait of a calculated act.
Investigators allege that just hours before allegedly setting fire to vegetation,
(04:44):
render Necked, who himself lived in the Palisades, was driving
uber passengers who described him as being quote agitated and angry.
Here's us attorney assili again.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
He drops someone off. He was in this neighborhood and
he went up to this hilt time round twelve twelve
am he ignited a fire. He was the only person
in this location at the time this fire ignited. We
have no other indication that any other person was there.
There were no fireworks at the time.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
The trail of evidence grew cold until FEDS tapped into
his disturbing online history. Renderneck allegedly asked the AI chatbot
the sinister question of quote, are you at fault if
a fire is lit because of your cigarettes? End quote.
He also reportedly generated images on the platform depicting a
(05:35):
quote burning forest end quote, and a quote dystopian painting
showing a burning city end quote. Months later, he then
allegedly confessed to the bought, writing quote, I literally burnt
the Bible that I had. It felt amazing. I felt
so liberated end quote, further intensifying the digital depravity. Rinderneck,
(05:58):
who official say was obsessed with fire, was reportedly listening
to a French rap song on repeat. The music video
for the song shows the artist lighting items on fire.
Despite Renderneck's claims to investigators that he merely reported the
fire from the bottom of the trail, geolocation data from
(06:19):
his iPhone placed him thirty feet from the origin point
as the fire rapidly grew. Investigators say after fleeing the scene,
he allegedly turned his car around, followed the fire engines back,
and filmed the firefighters at work Renderneck is charged with
destruction of property by means of fire, which carries a
(06:42):
maximum of twenty years in federal prison if convicted. However,
as the La County District Attorney stated, the investigation continues
and more charges are pending the outcome of that investigation. Again,
twelve people lost their lives, which means render necked could
be facing twelve counts of felony murder. Renderneck has no
(07:07):
prior criminal history. He relocated to Florida following the Los
Angeles inferno. A federal magistrate in Florida ordered him held
without bond. He remains locked in Seminole County Jail awaiting
an evidence hearing set for October seventeenth. The Palisades Fire
is one of the costliest urban wildfires in US history,
(07:30):
with an estimated one hundred and fifty billion dollars in damages.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
I'm Sidney Sumner, a Texas woman, was convicted this week
of killing her diabetic husband in twenty twenty three through
neglect as he suffered from an insulin overdose. A jury
found Sarah Jean Hartsfield, fifty, guilty of murder on Wednesday.
Hartsfield was arrested after staff at Houston Methodist Hospital noted
suspicious circumstances surrounding Joseph's death. In January twenty twenty three,
(08:00):
prosecutors presented evidence showing that Joseph's blood sugar dropped to
dangerously low levels over several hours on January seventh. Sarah
Hartsfield claimed she was sleeping while this happened, but her
cell phone activity showed her on several apps during that time,
and step tracking software showed her up and moving around. Additionally,
Joseph's glucose monitor went off more than one hundred times,
(08:22):
each time alerting Hartsfield's cell phone. Prosecutors acknowledged that they
could not prove Sarah Jean Hartsfield had given her husband
an overdose of insulin herself, but witnesses testified they believe
that's what happened. The jury took less than an hour
to convict Joseph Hartsfield was Sarah Jean Hartsfield's fifth husband.
She previously shot a fiancee to death in Minnesota. She
(08:44):
claimed self defense and was never charged for David Bragg's death.
Hartsfield was also accused of pressuring an earlier husband to
kill the new wife of an ex husband in twenty
twenty one in Arizona amide a custody dispute over their children.
Hartsfield has a history of alecations that she abused and
threatened former lovers. In nineteen ninety six, police in Houston
(09:05):
arrested Hartsfield after she and her then second husband got
into a physical argument in their apartment. Hartsfield was charged
with assault, but prosecutors dropped the case a week later
for unknown reasons. The woman's husband at the time, who
had been bruised and scraped, received a citation. He said
the pair were married between nineteen ninety six and nineteen
ninety seven, and that he wanted to forget that period
(09:26):
of his life, which he described as miserable. The jury
sentence Sarah Hartsfield to life in prison and to pay
a ten thousand dollars fine.
Speaker 7 (09:35):
I'm Drew Nelson, a former Idaho pastor accused of using
his church role so traffic and sexually abused women, is
out on bond as his next court date nears. Gregory
Wayne Jones, who was once a pastor at Liberty Christian
Fellowship Church and director of NXT Dream Center in Mountain Home,
is charged with human sex trafficking and sexual penetration.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
With a foreign object. He posted a one million dollar
bond in June after his arrest in April. His next
court appearance is set for December. Fifth Court record say
Jones used his position as a pastor to manipulate and
assault women under the guise of what he called spiritual healing.
One victim was under eighteen. The Idaho Statesman reported that
(10:17):
investigators accused Jones of using his authority to control and
exploit members of his congregation, describing his influence over victims
as quote a tremendous level of control. Whitney Owens, a
former volunteer at NXD Dream Center, tells kiv I she
worked alongside Jones for about a year. She said she
now sees the warning signs she missed.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
He was given a gift to lead in the church,
and yet he used it to take advantage of many people.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Owens says Jones never required her to pass a screening
before she worked with children.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
He never asked me to get a background check. I
worked with these children for twenty hours a week, and
I never had a background check. How many people we're
working with my child who never had a background.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Check Owens joint Survivors outside the Elmore County Courthouse to
show support for the victims who came forward.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Being so vulnerable, allowing myself to be there so much
of the time, not asking questions about the red flags
that were there that it could have happened to me.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Prosecutors say the alleged abuse happened at the church and
its child care facility between twenty fourteen and twenty twenty four. Jones,
who is a former Air Force serviceman once honored as
Person of the Year in Mountain Home, pleaded not guilty.
A judge later denied a plea deal. In August, the
Elmore County Sheriff's Office commended the courage of those who
(11:40):
came forward and believed more victims may be out there.
