Welcome to Criminal Lea. I'm Maria tram Marquis and I'm
Holly Frying. If you joined us for season one, you
got an ear full of stories of lady poisoners, and
in season two, we shifted our focus to look at
some of history's more famous stalkers, And just like in
previous seasons, we're continuing to look at these unwanted pursuits
or straight up crimes to get a better understanding of

what really went down. And when you know that, you
can get a better perspective on whether or not any
of these alleged perpetrators actually look different under a modern
magnifying glass. As they say, a little distance goes a
long way. So this season we're going to be focusing
on impostors, and impostors are people who dishonestly pretend to

be someone else for their own game. So we'll talk,
for example, about Mary Baker, who posed as the fictional
Princess Cariboo and pretended to come from a far off
island kingdom. And we're also going to talk about Cassie Chadwick,
who's story is an epic tale of brazen behavior. She
committed fraud at a level that would be almost impossible

to pull off today. Unlike some of our other impostors,
Ferdinand a k A. Waldo Demera's goal was prestige. He
charmed his way into all kinds of jobs. And this
is quite a list, so we'll only give away a few.
He was the dean of philosophy at a Pennsylvania college,
a civil engineer, a lawyer, a monk twice, and really

the list of occupations he held just goes on and on.
So you're gonna find that some of these stories are
incredibly odd and some are unsettling, but all of them
we find fascinating. And the good news is you don't
have to wait. We are rolling right from Stalker season
