except these two events weren't just a coincidence, and mister
Luke and mister Jim already suspected it wasn't just random.
Someone had done this on purpose. Luke, you're gonna wanna

What in the world, Jim, is that a mini stinger.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
You mean one of those things, those things the police
used to stop a car.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yeah, a stinger, A stinger spike system.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Okay, yeah, a stinger, if that's what you call it.
The real question is why was it set up here?
And why was it set off on your jeep?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
All good questions, all very good questions. I'm gonna go
grab it. That thing is so small. Maybe there's something
we can't see to clue us in a number or
a company or something.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Okay, just be careful. I can't really see if it
was electronically released, or if there's a trip wire or something.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
It's okay, I'll be careful.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yikes, those are some crazy spikes.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah, some spikes all right here? What's this? Some kind
of bird etched into the metal? Uh?

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Looks like an eagle or maybe a hawk. Whatever was
engraved below is completely worn down though, eh. Could be
a letter O, maybe a D.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah, that's all I see. I guess we just hold
on to this thing and hope we get an easy
explanation for all of this. There's the toe. I'll go
make sure he has room in his truck. Hopefully we
can get it right back to HQ.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Okay, I'm gonna go grab my backpack from the jeep.
I think this stinger should fit in there for now.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
If only they knew, this mini Stinger was still just
the start of our adventure. I remember the first time
I saw the thing back at HQ, little old me
equally scared and excited. But I'll get to that. When
mister Jim and mister Luke made it back to HQ
with a useless jeep, albeit, things really started to come

(03:42):
together in our Critter HQ, the Critter Q we called it.
There was no denying the fact they needed more help
and fast. Mister Jim signed off on a building permit
for an entire Critter Protector division, and mister Luke got
to work recruiting. This is where I come in, and
I remember the call just like it was yesterday. I

(04:03):
was biking home through the small forest preserved behind my house,
just like every other day, wishing for a place to belong.
At least the long way home bought me some time
before the inevitable. Another cool s Biology Squad story from
my brother Jaden.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, the amazing spy, the one who stops doctor stinky
breath time and time again, is the brother of yours. Truly,
that's who I had to look up to. The only
problem was I spent most of my time living in
his shadow.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Hmm.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
If only I could find someone who needs a guy
like me soccer. I guess that's not my thing. Hum.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
I wish I would have made it, though.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
Maybe I'll just start volunteering at the fish hatchery or
the dog kennel in town. At least I'll be doing
something with animals, even if it's not the most glamorous
of jobs. Cleaning up dog poop, filtering fish poop, water hmm.
There just has to be something I can do with
animals other than wait a minute, there's something up there
on the path. Hmm, what could that be? Well, I

(05:15):
guess it's my lucky day. Don't you worry, little guy,
I got you. Now, How in the world did a
little baby turtle liked you get yourself.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Flipped over like this? You look like a fish out
of water. You're lucky I came by, a little buddy.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
All right, let's get you back to safety.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Off you go, my.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
Friend, safe back in the creek. Now you stay away
from gravel. Mister, Who in the world, what's with all
these unknown numbers lately.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Hello, Hello, is Marcus there?

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah, this is Marcus.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Oh hi Marcus. My name is mister Luca. I got
your number from mister Jim. Oh, well, mister Jim out
from Jaden. You know your brother? Yes, right right? Anyways,
that's beside the point.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Do you have a minute, Yeah, I have a minute.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
I'm looking for recruits who might be interested in working
on a new animal rescue team here at Biology Squad HQ.
We're calling it the Critter Protector Division and basically we
well we do everything related to helping animals. Is this
something you might possibly be interested in? We have a

lot of well a lot of calls coming in, and
it appears things aren't going to be getting any quieter
around here.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Interested. I'm more than interested. That sounds amazing. I've always
wanted to be a part of something like this. Yes,
and this beat's biking alone or cleaning up dog poop
or murky fish water. But wait, how do you know
I like animals?

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Or did you know your brother? Jaden filled us in.
He said you'd be the perfect person to ask.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Oh right, Jaden, Sorry I didn't realize he knew that
was well my thing.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Anyways, what do I need to do or how do
I start?

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Marcus? I love your enthusiasm. I believe you'll be a
perfect fit. Are you free to come by HQ tomorrow
morning around ten.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Absolutely, I'll be there.

I remember that first day at the Critter Protector building
like it was just yesterday. I walked in thinking it
was about to be one of the best days of
my life. I was excited to help animals and even
more excited for a place to belong. I didn't quite
expect to walk into such an alarming situation the second
I showed up, though. This wasn't quite what I had

in mind, But it was the day I learned what
we were really up against.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Hey, Marcus, sorry, I meant to get here earlier. Then
mister Jim called me about the alarms.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Few So that's not a normalst sound around here.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Absolutely not. That's the sound of every security alarm and
the computer alarms. Oh here, take my key. The master
shut off is over there on that far wall. I'll
try and figure out these computers, got it? Let's see
security shut off, password shut off all. It's just a

few more and there. Phew. Well, this is either really
important or someone really wants to hack into my computer.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
So do we know what's set those off?

Speaker 3 (08:59):
I have over one hundred messages from the same address
blinking here, guessing that has something to do with it.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
I guess there's only one way to find out.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Right, you are, Marcus, so much for the great first
day I had planned for you.

It's okay. At least this one will be memorable.

Let's see endangered enterprise. That definitely doesn't sound familiar.
