Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm emio Lea. Last season on Crumbs, I tried to
figure out why I seem to look for love in
all the wrong places in the past. I looked for
love from guys who were jealous, What are you doing?
Who are you hanging out with? I looked for passion,
passion that came alongside volatility and violence and went from
zero to one hundred in a split of a second.

(00:21):
I try to figure out why I settle for that
type of love, and surprise, surprise, I traced a trail
of Crumbs back to my childhood. I was desperate for love.
I never got it from my dad, who was basically
out of the picture. I was desperate for attention for
my mom, who had me at age fourteen, who was
addicted to heroin, who was in and out of my
life and left me to be raised by my grandma,

(00:43):
my Mammy Leija, and then Mamilicha ended up in prison
herself after years doing business with the Mexican drug cartel.
I know, straight out of De Lenovela, right, But that's
just my narrative. If I want the whole story, I
have to look outside of myself. So I'm turning to
someone who has. It's a very different version of the
events of my life my mom. Maybe by learning her

(01:05):
truth I can get closer to mine as well. We're
going all the way back to her childhood. When did
you realize what Mamlicha did for a living?

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Probably the time when the DEA agents showed up and
her early loves. I was very attracted to Menda had
just gone out of prison.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
To understand how we all got trapped in the cycles
of violence, addiction, and chaos. This is Crumbs. It's a
show up of the things we settle for and the
bits of ourselves that make us who we are. Listen
